My dog was seen Friday by one veterinarian; we had to return for a re-check today and she saw another veterinarian (due to my availability). Both vets were outstanding. Very thorough, professional, insightful, and caring. They worked with their staff to provide estimates prior to any procedures being done and ample time to discuss treatment options. We thought my sweet Cavvy might need a procedure, but they advised watchful waiting. I felt very grateful that they did not charge me unnecessarily and handled our case with the utmost courtesy. Staff is also very passionate and caring.

****Update**** Dr. Mike is a temporary replacement and is not the new doctor. Because of the great staff I will be going back and seeing the other vet. My experience with Dr. Mike is as follows: Bad experience. Unfortunately Dr. Burtrum is no longer there. The staff is very good and friendly, the new vet (Mike?) apparently doesn't know how to approach dogs. He did not take ANY time to warm up to my dog (or us), instead decided it was ok to hover over her and then nervously corner her, after seeing that she was clearly terrified of him and his energy. I have never seen my dog run scared from anyone except this guy. I have also never seen her show her teeth to anyone like she did with him. It was similar to if instead of shaking his hand I just shove him up against the wall with one arm to his neck to say hello and hey why dont you like me? Will not be going back. Do not recommend.

Great experience starting with my initial scheduling call. The receptionist was very friendly when I arrived. Additionally, Breean and Dr. Begaye really took the time to listen and were open and honest in thoroughly explaining my cats care needs. The office was neat, organized and very well run.

Long wait and check up call wasn't about my pet but update my information. Vaccine made my doggie run fever for 2 days and poo extreme.Our vet said she was overdosed. I'm not impressed. Im Not recommending this Rita Ranch pet hospital to anyone.

Their on-site lab speeds the process of diagnosis and treatment and the facilities are spotless. Definitely one of the best vets we've ever been to, and having had dogs for 33 years in cities all over the country, we've been to more than a few!

I would highly recommend Rita Ranch Pet Hospital, I just moved here and my dog had scratched his eye. They took us in immediately and there was no wait time when we got there. They inspected his eye and determined what was wrong. They prescribed him drops and then we had a follow up, when we had our follow up we once again were seen right away. They checked his eye out and suggested a second medicine. The next time we went in his eye was completely healed and they were fantastic with him. The entire staff is so friendly and kind. They treated my pup like their own and they were all so nice. Every time I came in they would call the next day and make sure everything is okay with my pup! I highly recommend them!

I was given the same treatment I get when I get my oil changed. Somebody tried to upsell me for services I didn't need at all or didn't need yet. They used guilt and ignorance to try to pad the bill and the items I did buy were obscenely over priced I learned later. There's no doubt they were knowledgeable and very friendly but I got the distinct feeling profit had priority over my dog's health. I probably won't go back because I don't like to deal with businesses I consider an adversary. Beware and be ready.

Took my dog in for a check up shortly after adoption. They noticed a slight lump on his elbow, explained a few things of what it could be. I told them I'd keep an eye on it and would call if it didn't disappear in a few days. They then told me they wanted to take him into the back to receive his rabies vaccination. I allowed that. They came in while they had the dog with a proposed bill, including a biopsy of his lump. I declined the charges. They told me to write a note and sign at the bottom. I did. THEY STILL DID THE BIOPSY AND CHARGED ME! I got the charges dropped, but was very frustrated with the underhandedness. Also, my dog has social anxiety (fine with dogs of all ages and people of all ages but pees or barks if he gets nervous) NEVER pees in my house and yet both times I've taken him in, they coo over him and hover until he panics and pees all over the floor, they then look at me like it's my fault. Will never return to this location. I felt they were disrespectful and don't listen.

You folks are outstanding in your practice, its very hard to find people with such high ethics and regard applied to doing an excellent job. We appreciate everything you've done for us so very much. Especially when we called in that we were on our way to you( Levi having been struck by a Rattler), you directed us to another specified outfit immediately, being sure they had antivenin and all necesaties to save him. At that time There were many animals bitten and hard to find antivenin. Y'all new this at the drop of a hat, That's staying on top of your job!! Staying informed.. we appreciate that drive, integrity,& love for what you do. Levi love's you!!

Update: I wanted to update my review as I recently received a call from Dr. Krauss who addressed our concerns. She explained the vet we saw was only temporary as they look for a new vet and will make sure we will not have to see that same vet again. She was very kind and professional. We will continue going to Rita Ranch since our experience with everyone else there has been great. Will not be back. Staff was very friendly and we loved our vet. Unfortunately she left and whoever they replaced her with was awful. Mike I believe was his name? No people or animal skills. Didn't take any time to let our dog smell him or get comfortable with him before standing over her and backing her into a corner. My dog was absolutely terrified of him and tried to hide behind us. Almost bit him out of fear. She has never acted like this around anyone before. I highly suggest you find a new vet to represent your facility.

Staff is very judgmental. Receptionist will ignore you for 5 minutes as you stand directly in front of her with no one else in the waiting room. Only two of the techs are helpful and understanding.

It was my dog Jumanji first visit to a Veterinarian and Rita Ranch Pet Hospital is the best . They treated Jumanji like Royalty. I recommend all who live in the Vail and Rita Ranch area to bring your pets here. Dr. Krauss has a real passion for pet's, she sat down on the floor with Jumanji and played with him it was awesome to see a Vet do this. The whole staff is very friendly and professional.

We have been taking our dogs here since the opening. They have an excellent, caring and competent staff. Our youngest (an Eglish Bulldog) has epilepsy. The doctors made sure we understood the complications associated with this condition. It was almost a year to reduce her seizures from multiple times a day to where we are today--1 every 4 to 5 months. Thank you Dr. Krauss & your entire staff! Frank, Mary, Harley, Mystic & Xena.

Took my dog in for some behavior issues. The doc didnt address much of the issue I was actually there for but tried to have us do a lot of unnecessary testing. Then after everything we were told to rehome our dog. Horrible experience.

As I read some of the reviews criticizing the suggestions for testing, the prices, etc. I have to comment that we have been taking our cats Mikazuki and Samson to Rita Ranch Pet Hospital since we arrived here in 2012 and have NEVER been pressured into tests. Bella joined our family about 3 years ago. In fact, we have often asked for tests, and they have not recommend we do them based on the situation. When they have suggested courses of treatment, there was no pressure. They, like most quality Vets, print out a list of treatment that contains what they will do, and might have to do depending on what they find. This is to let us know what the costs could be and we sign that we do want treatment. I have never had Dr. Krauss or Dr. T pressure us like "used cars salesmen" or made us feel guilty. Some people take things differently than others. That can happen when we are told something about our children or pets. As far as being accidentally charged, that could happen by mistake, so contact them and get it refunded. When we first moved here, Mika had something like coffee grounds coming out one ear. She is an indoor only cat, so not mites. We went to another Vet in the area who did not look at the residue under a scope or test the residue, said it was ear mites and gave ear drops. I knew this was wrong and went to Rita Ranch Pet Hospital within the week. The different in professionalism was night and day. They did testing and Mika had Papilloma Virus warts or tumors behind her ear drum. We were referred to specialists at SW Veterinary Specialists. They did a scope, had never seen anything like it, consulted national experts and treated her with Interferon. She recovered and is fine. The alternative would have been an ear-ectomy or worse. We were prepared and able to pay for it. Understandably some people cannot. Later Mika and Samson developed digestive issues. Everyone's health went bad after arriving in the desert. Their care has put them on the right track. They provide a higher level of Veterinary care, with national accreditation. You get what you pay for. I trust no one else.

Dr. Krause and Dr. Hanna and their staff are wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about the care and treatment of my cocker, Sadie. They have never tried to make me feel guilty about anything I have or haven't done. All care is explained , follow-up calls are made. If I feel she needs to be seen right away they will get her in. Sadie loves all of them, how many dogs do you know that get excited about going to the vet. She is well, as am I, well treated and cared for. You could not pick a better care giver.
