Most friendly and accommodating vet office we have encountered. They were able to see our very sick kitty within hours of calling their office. It was our first time there and had a great experience. Definitely planning on taking all our animal kids there from now on. Even though it's a 20 to 30 minutes drive.

Love this place. 1)My male boa had an RI (respiratory infection) he was treated with care and swiftness. The staff was very helpful and informed. The doctor also noticed he had mites although I treated them myself. 10/10 2)My female boa was doing poorly and I love this snake dearly. I called up and made an appointment. Took her down and was welcomed when I walked in. The staff always seems friendly and attentive. After trying to figure out what was plaguing my boa we decided to do some support care. They called the next day and days after to ask how she was doing. You have no idea how much I appreciate them calling. It really makes me feel like they care. I know they do care but this really just nails it in. My vet is working with me to also get all paper work in order to shop over seas. I give them a 10/10 every time because I have yet to have any bad experiences with them. It is about a 45 min drive from the base but if you have reptiles I suggest them. They are wonderful and do seem to care about the wellness of you and your herp. Its worth the drive and the staff is wonderful.

My dog Carrie likes going there because the staff is friendly and kind. They treat both her and I with understanding and respect. The few times that she has been ill the doctors have successfully diagnosed and treated her. They are competent, knowledgeable veterinarians and I would recommend them and that place to anyone.

I had a sick Sulcata that would not eat. I took her to Orange Grove Animal Hospital. They treated her & I took her home. She got worse overnight so I took her back for additional treatments. She was really sick so I left her there for around the clock care. She was there 2 weeks and they were unfortunately not able to save her but I know that she received the best care that she could have gotten. Dr. Merker kept me up to date daily (and many times called after hours to make sure I knew how she was doing). They taught me how to properly care for a Sulcata (so I'm better able to take care of my 2nd one-they are A LOT more difficult to care for than you would think). The doctors and staff were very caring and knowledgeable and I was grateful for all they did to make her last days as comfortable as possible.

We've taken our dogs, cats and reptiles to Orange Grove from the first year they opened! All the doctors that we've seen have been excellent. Dr. Jarchow is our regular and there simply isn't any better!! The facilities there are top-notch. The front office staff and assistants are wonderful. Their prices seem fair. What else can I say? Professional, compassionate, friendly...!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Orange Grove Animal Hospital has Veterinarians that can treat reptiles and they have boarding for them along with dogs and cats too. He's never failed to treat my pets successfully, and with the utmost professionalism. I've lived in Tucson for many years, and have seen other animal hospitals, none can compare with Orange Grove. Their facility is clean, their staff is caring and professional, and I would never take any animal of mine to anyone else because our pets are a part of our family, and deserve the very best in veterinary care. When we had to put our beloved, seventeen year old dalmatian down, Dr. Merker came to our home and couldn't have been more sympathetic and kind, making sure our "Augie" was as comfortable as possible. It was very evident that he cared. Dr. Merker is a wonderful doctor, and our pets and our family love him for the care he gives to them. "Thank you", Orange Grove Animal Hospital, Staff, Office Manager, Dennis, and in particular, our Dr. Merker. This is not for publication. We were extremely impressed with your facility the first time we boarded our dogs there. The second time, not so much. We boarded 3 dogs for 10 days. We were quoted a price for boarding when I made the reservation. We were also quoted a price for surgery for one dog. When we brought them in we were told the boarding price had gone up. While we were on vacation, hundreds of miles away, we were contacted via phone that the surgery cost had doubled. I think both were unfair. The quoted prices should have been extended to us. We were also told that baths would be given. They weren't. I also asked that one dog have his nails clipped. They weren't. It seems like 1 hand doesn't know what the other is doing. Things don't seem quite as organized there as in the past. A frustrating and expensive experience for the most part. Sher Gonzalez

Seriously THE best vet in Tucson/Oro Valley. One of the receptionists is an older woman and she's kinda surly and grouchy but not terrible. Just ignore her. The vets (especially Dr. Merker) are amazing and so is the rest if the staff. Competitive prices and they see a large variety of pets. We've seen birds, reptiles, rabbits, rodents etc etc happily treated. We bring our own exotics to see Dr. Meeker and he's always gone above and beyond.

More than what you'd expect from a veterinary clinic, this place can handle exotics like reptiles, plus standard services; surgery, teeth cleaning, vaccinations and medications, health consultations, etc. The staff is pleasant and professional. I have had all of my dogs treated here, along with two euthanasia, unfortunately. These were handled with care and respect. To say they have earned my loyalty would be an understatement. The only service I have seen that they do not provide is a 24 hour emergency facility.

They are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and are willing to suggest anything before any major decisions you may have to make. We bring our cat and dog here and they seem to like the techs as well!! Give it a try, I promise you won't regret it.

The only reason why they don't get a 1-star rating is because they did well with our pets for years. But recently they royally screwed up. We brought in our cat three times in the course of a year to get checked out for weight loss and poor digestion. The vet started her on special food, ran some blood tests, and that was it. Finally as the cat's condition got to be critical we tried another vet. Turns out the condition our cat has is treatable. Took the new vet 90 seconds to make a diagnosis. 90 seconds! Thing is, it might be too late. Our cat lost half her body weight and is so frail she can't walk straight. If the treatment began back when we first noticed the problem, she'd probably be ok now. If the diagnosis was really complicated we'd understand how the vet at Orange Grove missed it. No one is perfect. But this condition is not uncommon, especially in older cats like ours. We gave him three tries and he struck out. Thing is, it's the cat that pays for it. UPDATE - The cat passed away. The diagnosis from the new vet came too late to reverse the damage already done. Now Orange Grove is sending us "happy birthday" emails for the cat, like rubbing salt in the wound. We told them the cat passed away. This is just so unprofessional and careless, I can't even put into words how angry and disappointed we are.

I remembered Dr. Jarchow from eight years ago when I took Lewis for his free checkup post PACC adoption. Recently I decided to change vets so we went back to Dr. Jarchow. Just as I remembered, he was pleasant, gentle, and thorough. We had scheduled Lewis for surgery and later I had questions so I called and asked to have Dr. Jarchow call me back. He promptly returned my call and patiently answered my questions. I highly recommend Orange Grove Animal Hospital and Dr. Jarchow.

The vet and vet assistant were great...had dental work done on my cat and the price was 1/5th of what I was quoted elsewhere. Giving only 3 stars because there is a one person at the front desk that clearly hates her job. She was unprofessional, unfriendly and quite off-putting (on two separate occasions). Businesses have to remember that the front desk staff is the "face" of the company, Orange Grove Animal Hospital has an ugly face but great insides.

Dr Jarchow is a very experienced, knowledgable veterinarian, my dogs been a patient for several years and Jarchow jas been great helping us diagnose and navigate a few health issues. He has great, calm, "dog-side manner" (hehe), spends plenty of time with us and any concerns, I have had nothing but good things to say about his practice and the office staff as well. His regular tech assistant, Crystal, is top notch too! Bottom line is: smart person + 50 yrs experience = excellent vet.

Took my dog there and all was fine. A week later everything was good with him but one thing remained which the doctor overlooked. Only to tell me over the phone that the other medication for something else was supposed to take care of it. Which is contradicting because in the visit she clearly said they were 2 different conditions (needing 2 different medications). I mention this point over the phone only to be replied with "well without running tests we cant be certain of anything". See the inconsistency there? On top of it all, the true reason for 1 star, Dr. Gordon sensed a slight bit of annoyance on my part over the phone yet I remained polite and respectful, and instead of address it like any professional would, she decided to hang up on me. I'm sure most people have great experiences there. Unfortunately I did not. I wasnt even given a simple apology. Just excuses. (Worth mentioning: during the call the dr was excessively talking and explaining herself, I had to cut her off just to speak. Does someone who isn't in the wrong really need to explain themselves THAT much?)

I have been using Orange Grove Animal Hospital for over 30 years, starting when they were Sonoran Animal Hospital located on Prince near Oracle. Even though they are now a 30 minute drive from my house, I still bring my dogs to them. They have been consistently caring, concerned, and exhibited extensive knowledge and compassion. I have seen several vets, and am currently using Dr Lopez, who is very kind to my dog, and really brings out the best in him. I trust the doctors implicitly and will continue to seek vet treatment from them.

This is a fantastic clinic! Dr. Jarchow and staff are caring and competent. This has been our Vet clinic for over 5 years now, and for a total of 3 of our dogs. One of our dogs is prone to incidents, and has needed urgent care 3 times now in the last few years. We have never had difficulty getting in to see the doctor. We have never felt over charged, and are honestly surprised by how reasonable the fees are when compared to what we paid elsewhere in the past. Most importantly, our dogs have been, and continue to be, well cared for at Orange Grove Animal Hospital.

I took my guinea pig here after she fell very sick to get her checked on, and honestly I felt like the doctor had no idea what he was doing when he was checking on her. Not to mention the bill was ridiculous. My guinea pig sadly did not survive the next day after the check up, and I am sure I will not be returning to this facility for my remaining guinea pig if she ever falls ill. I would rather find a different vetrinarian. With that said, they are amazing for dogs. Just do not take your 'exotic' pets here.

I have used Orange Grove for my animals for many years. They seem to really care about the animals and follow up by phone to see how they are doing. By going there I can make an appointment for any of the pets and be seen at the same location. Several of the vets are the best I have ever used. Dr Jarchow is a fantastic reptile vet who really cares about the turtles. Dr Fairall has gone out of his way to be available during any crisis I may have. Having someone in the building all night is very important to me. When my pet is so sick it needs to spend the night, I certainly wouldn't want it left alone all night. I do and will continue to recommend them to my friends.

Hands down best vet in Tucson, truthfully I can only attest to whom ive personally seen at this office but ive also heard only great things about all the veterinarians there. We see Dr. Merker. We found him when we couldn't find anyone to help me with my hamsters and Dr Merker was one of the only "pocket animal" vets in town took amazing care of our hammies. He was gentle and sweet with the hamsters & treated them just as I do, which I happen to find amazing. The entire staff is so wonderful. I have seen Dr Walter Meeker for my reptiles and my dogs for years. I always feel safe and ashured that my animals are well taken care of. He has helped me to say goodbye and was kind d and compassionate at the end and made me feel like I was making the right choice. He just fixed my dog and removed her dew claws and the incision is so small and didn't even swell. I'm so thankful for the understanding staff as well (as I can worry) and they always welcome any concern. I even got them donuts to thank them for the spay! Orange Grove Animal Hospital is one of the finest veterinary hospitals in Tucson. The staff veterinarians are not only extraordinarily competent in their fields but also have exceptional rapport with both their animal patients and with the animals' owners. Comparable skill and rapport are likewise true of the veterinary technicians and the office staff. Having spent a lifetime in the animal field, I've found that these talents and skills are not always present in veterinary establishments. However, at Orange Grove Animal Hospital they are exemplary. It has my highest recommendation.

I have had reptiles seen by Dr. Jim Jarco, who is brilliant!....but my most recent visits have been for sick...very sick...dogs. We run a small dog rescue, Cochise Canine Rescue...and after picking up a sick puppy at a local pound, I attempted to be seen by any one of my "normal" (ie closer to home) Vets...but they either were not there or too busy to see us. I called Orange Grove, even tho my only experience with them had been with my herps, but on that day I was "fit in" by Walter Merker, who is a wonderful, caring Vet. The little 3 lb pup was dying in my hands and I drove back and forth over the next few weeks getting tests done and given medications and working to help this little baby. Walter helped save a dying puppy's life - staying late into the evening on that first night. The puppy, Jasper, is now 5 months old and almost 40 pounds of healthy, rambunctious dog! Orange Grove is an hour and 45 mins from my home, but I often go there, especially when something needs the best equipment and the best and kindest service. The people who complained above need to remember that the animals cannot "tell" us what is wrong, and Vets can only do their best...and the people I have dealt with at Orange Grove, both Jim Jarco and Walter Merker do exactly that...their best.

I thought my parakeet was ill, so I tried to go to the same place I always go in town, but they couldn't accommodate me until weeks later. I called this animal hospital third, and was able to schedule an appointment immediately (even around Thanksgiving). This was the only place in town that had available spots. I was extremely impressed - everyone was very friendly and helpful. The avian vet was extremely knowledgeable and gave me helpful literature to take better care of my pet and talked me through dietary and behavioral habits. He also explained his findings related to my concerns and didn't run any unnecessary (and expensive) tests without explaining the pros and cons of doing so. I've had this problem in the past with other animal hospitals in town that run every test for no reason. I have gone to one other animal hospital in town that has an avian vet, and this experience and information was significantly better.

Orange Grove Animal Hospital is Fantastic! Dr. Merker has taken such great care of my cat. He is now three and was adopted by the Humane Society as a kitten. Unfortunately, he has had trouble with facial infections from the start. I had taken him all over town and was unsuccessful in any sort of recovery until OGAH. It had been an up hill battle for years. Dr. Merker really took my little guy under his wing and over a little time, figured out the best solution for us. Now my kitty is bouncing around the house and full of spunk! Thank you Dr. Merker!

I was incredibly impressed with Dr. Audrey Siegrist; she was compassionate, knowledgeable, friendly, and explained everything very well. The rest of the staff was a very different story….the receptionists were rude and acted like it was a huge inconvenience for you to be there (not just to me to other people I observed while waiting). In addition the vet techs were sloppy, unprofessional, and did not even seem interested in animals. I had to wait almost 30 minutes to see the vet and then waited another 20 minutes once in the room and then another 30 minutes just to have someone bring me a prescription (and no one even apologized). The only person that had any type of personal skills in the entire place was Dr. Siegrist, and as wonderful as she was I don’t think I will ever return because the rest of the staff was so impolite….I would not was to burden them again with my business!

I got a dogs from the pound and they supplied and free checkup. the vet, DR. Lopez gave me plenty of time and checked out my puppy. She did not try to sell me on anything in fact said that I could purchase the last vaccination for my dogs need in a week or so from other sources. I do not have a vet as of yet, but would definitely go there if I was in need.

This is the best (and only) small animal hospital in town. They do dogs and cats and stuff too, but I'm just focusing on the little guys for this review. They see turtles, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. The small animal vet is awesome! You can tell that they really care about the animals, and they dont gouge you on the price. Just had to have some surgery done on my guinea pig, and they were great. His teeth needed grinding down. The vet even took a pic of his mouth so we could see later. The vet is always super patient, answering any questions we may have about anything. His assistants have small animals too. They always get us right in that day if we have an emergency. There is a reason this place is so highly rated. If you have a little pet, this is the place.

I highly disliked my visit here. I waited a decent amount of time before posting this. Back in September, we took our male rabbits to get neutered here. I am told to bring food with them to free feed. Let me begin with, I do not call my rabbits' hay food. It is a supplement in their diet. Food is their pellets that is given once a day. So naturally when they said 'food' my mind went straight to pellets and of course I didn't bring any cause I gave them their food the night before and they get fed at night and not free fed pellets. The doctor wasn't in so I wasn't able to meet him prior to the surgery. So I call around 1pm, since they said the surgery would be done in the morning and from my experience working in a couple of clinics myself, I should get an update. They thought I was a terrible owner for not bringing in "food" i.e. HAY. I correct them on this and they pretty much blow it off. I finally go and pick them up at 5 pm. They accidently added in the charges twice for one rabbit(I know it can happen, but you double check before clocking them out) And I argue with the technician about it and how they need to clarify hay and food with other customers. She blows it off too. The vet never once came out to introduce himself, and he did not call me during the day to let me know how the surgery went, seeing how I had to call them. All in all, the service of most the staff was horrid. I felt very unwelcome in the environment there, and was appalled that the doctor did not come out to just say a quick hello and introduce himself. I refuse to go to this clinic again just from the service I received from most of the staff(the one that booked me was very nice though!) and the not seeing or receiving any phone call from the vet just makes it even worse. I strongly urge those to avoid this clinic and to try to find another.

Dr. Merker is going to be my ferrets' doctor for the remainder of their stay in arizona. He is incredibly kind and very understanding to ferrets special needs and also to my financial needs as veteranary expenses for ferrets can be very high at times. Thank you very much Orange Grove animal hospital. You guys are all amazing. Bowie and Lucy and I love you all. Keep rockin!!!

The worst place in the world. Linda hung up on me today because I was trying to obtain my Rx for my 11 yr old dog who has seizures. Horrible customer service, very unprofessional and they just don't care about your pets! Run...don't walk! Absolutely shocking! Disgusted. And if I had time I would tell her all of the hell they have put us thru.

I brought my 1 yr old Boston Terrier in because she was throwing up, would not eat, lost alot of weight & had soft stools. They explained to me that she had pancreatitis & she had to have emergency surgery or she would die & the cost would be between $2000 & $4000. Well I don't have that kind of cash. They didn't care. So I took her to Acoma Animal Clinic for a second opinion & they told me that she had Tick Fever & she would only have to take a pill for a few months it cost me about $350 & they took payments. I recommend Acoma Animal Clinic to everyone I know the vets there take the time to diagnose your pet correctly & the time to explain everything to you... BIG THUMBS DOWN TO ORANGE GROVE ANIMAL HOSPITAL & A HUNDRED THUMBS UP TO ACOMA ANIMAL CLINIC!!!

This place seemed unprofessional and un organized. They prescribed me hairball medication but stated they didn't have any and to go to pets mart, show the prescription and get it there. Petsmart didn't do this, they told me i would have to see their vet and pay an exam fee to get the medication. So this place calls me back the next day to check on the cat and I mention I wasnt able to get the medication. They tell me they dont know why anyone told me they were out of stock because they are actually in stock, and that they also don't know why they told me to go to pets mart. The. They asked me if wanted to buy the medication from them for $12 after I told them this whole story...

We have used Orange Grove Animal for many years now. They have cared for our dogs and our African Grey. We also board the parrot there on a regular basis; much to the joy of the staff. We highly recommend this very caring veterinarian facility.

Took my 9 week old puppy in wasnt eating or drinking had thrown up the day before we took her, and they didn't even test her for parvo. Took her to a 24 hr pet hospital first thing tested her, came out positive for parvo..... ridiculous
