I was really apprehensive about going to the vet but my girl Merry was having some severe skin issues that we had tried to treat at home. Being a pay check to pay check family finding the money to get to the vet is a real issue. At other places I have been judged and made to feel bad about not being a "good enough" dog mom. From the receptionist to the doctor's we were treated wonderfully!! Seeing my girl was not good in social situations, they got me right into room and understood money was a true hurtle for our family. I Never felt judged, while coming up with ideas and solutions to help my girl feel better. Which is the ultimate goal. This place and these animal care givers have my praise, thanks and complete loyalty. Thank you for changing my fearful and negative views on veterinarians. The Zamora Family

The folks at this vet office were terrific ! We adopted a tiny terrier that became ill within a few days - the adoption included a check-up at any of several vet offices including North Central Animal Hospital - when i called them they advised that they were all booked but offered to work us in so our new family member could be seen and get some relief. I am very grateful that they were so friendly and accommodating, and we will be using them as our family vet going forward.

Because of it's high ratings, I have tried giving this Animal Hospital the benefit of the doubt but every time I come in for an appointment it seems like the administrative staff are pretty discombobulated. This time they have taken forever to see our dog (I've been here over an hour as I write this review) with no real updates as to why there is a wait. I was about to walk out as I went to the front desk, when a person immediately came in to do a basic assessment. Turned out they were not the doctor, and we will be waiting a while longer. Although the staff is real friendly, when you do finally see them, there is always a LONG wait and most times there are no updates as to why we are sitting for so long or that they even remember that you are there. It doesn't seem to matter if you have an early appointment or a late one. One last thing, and my biggest complaint, I have noticed they really seem to "push" all kinds of treatments, even when I have explained their location is not where we go for our preventative treatments and that our dog is up to date on most everything they are "recommending". It almost feels similar to purchasing a car at a typical dealership. Lots of waiting around and add on items "suggested" that can amount to a bill of hundreds of dollars if you are the type that caves to these types or "suggestuons". Instead of concerning myself with the primary reason why we came to the vet, an injury or illness, I feel like I have to evaluate all the recommended services to see what I really should consider for the purpose of our visit. In the end it seems like there isn't anything they wouldn't recommend, thereby making you wonder if the recommendation for why you are there in the first place is really necessary or are they just looking to stack on some services to make as much money as possible. And after a hour and 48 minutes I just left. We wont be back.

I absolutely recommend this family atmosphere. You know from the time you walk in that they will take the best care your babies could ask for. They absolutely make you feel taken care of, they are aware of the human emotions and that of your babies emotions. The staff here is one incredible family and are always eager to answer any and all questions I have. I give this hospital 5 stars not just because they deserve it but over the years they have earned it. I know that my babies could not be in better hands.

I just moved here as well. I randomly picked this place because it was close to my house. From the moment I walked in I felt welcome. I brought in 2 large dogs. 1 of them were new to me & was quite hyper. All of the office staff were very accomodating & helped me get into the room with both dogs. I had a lot of questions & things to address since I had a new dog. I didn't feel rushed at all. Every one of my concerns were addressed by the technicians, & then the veterinarian herself. She was truly amazing. I'm so glad they will be my new permanent vet. It is always scary to think of having an emergency & not having a good vet to go too. I feel better now that I've moved to a new town, & the veterinarian part has been taken care of. Thankyou!

I have 9 Champion pedigree Pekingese and NCAH gives rabies shots for total $5 per visit and checks pet to see if additional care needed. If not total cost just the $5 For rabies! I trust this vet with all problems with my pets that I have had for last 5 years or more. Friendly staff, convenient location, and expert veterinarians. They are also open for business Saturdays and Sundays. They care about all pets and are understanding the feelings and anxiety of owners with sick or injured pets.

Honestly my worst avian experience. Waited in lobby and waiting room for 1 1/2 hours WITH an appointment! Completely over charged for vitamins etc when I really needed help on the issue and how to prevent it instead of them focused on making a fortune on the visit. They bragged about all the injections and forgot about educating us on prevention so he would stop this behavior...Given a taped collar for $20? Come on! He can chew right through it He's a parrot! No common sense or experience with Cockatoos apparently! Then waited over an hour to pick him up Completely over booked at the hospital. Then to top it all off after a $581 bill, We call and speak to Alex to inquire about medications and she was condescending and RUDE! Told her the medication had leaked in the bag they provided and all she said was ""''' Well you better come back and get some more"''' Acted like taking our call was a hassle and an inconvenience. Then finally they want to charge us a $50 recheck fee? We have NEVER been charged a recheck on a vet visit EVER for ANY vet. Esp when charged almost 600 for initial visit! Please go somewhere else They are concerned more about money than your family pet!!!

Absolutely great place! We took my little 6 month old ferret Shakespeare in for his first examination, and he had a great first experience. Every employee was very kind and courteous. After the appointment and they gave us his medicine Shakespeare has seemed much healthier and happier. Great place, great atmosphere, great doctors. What more could you ask for?

I would highly recommend this vet to anyone with guinea pigs, i have brought in one of my boys twice to treat his weight, under weight piggie, a broken tooth, and a cough. So far he's been recovering well above what i expected. It is evident they really care for the well being of their patients as they have stayed in contact with me in between appointments to check on my boy's progress. They also offer nail trimming for those of us who have trouble trimming our guinea pigs nails if thats something your intrested in.

Dr. Thomas and her staff has done a wonderful job helping my family and I care for our new puppy. We are new pet owners and we bought a puppy who was very sick (we had no idea). The staff there was so helpful and informative and gave us medicine to help our puppy get better. They even called to check on her a few days after we left the office. I highly, highly recommend this office and the wonderful team who works in it.

Just got a new puppy so I went in for a check up. I have taken my cat to banfield at PetSmart and both my visits the doctors were really unhelpful did an entire exam then I saw my cat was bleeding there in the room right after the exam the fact the doctor didn’t notice this after the exam made me uneasy. Here I brought in my dog and the doctor noticed a spot on her belly they took her in the back and removed it. I feel here the doctors actually care about pets and it’s not all about money. Also there was a woman who had a big dog she didn’t seem to control and the nurse or lady at the front made sure to walk me out so everything would be fine. Overall had a good experience here and will be back.

Did not have a nice first time experience with Dr. Thomas nor David, the technican. My puppy, husband and I left very disappointed. Dr. Thomas was cold, not welcoming and had a very bad overall in general attitude. Too much time wasted and money. The front office was very sweet and friendly. If it weren't for the prices, I wouldn't have gone. I rather go elsewhere and pay more for a professional service.

Dr. Thomas and her staff was very attentive and friendly. The service was timely and Dr. Thomas really took her time diagnosing and explained how and why she came to her conclusions, which was very comforting. The only criticism I have is that she never came back into the room after prescribing the care for additional follow up questions. Other than that the overall experience was great and I will definitely be returning for future care.

They pretty much killed my puppy. My puppy was really sick. He was not feeling good yesterday and this morning it was worse. We live down the street from this vet. We walked in then waited 15 mins. We’re told they where understaffed and couldn’t see our puppy and to go some where else. We found another vet that was open it was about a 30 min drive. My puppy DIED! on the way to the vet. I can’t even begin to express the anger I have for this vet. If this was a human there would be some major lawsuits.

I had a really good experience here. There may be a little bit of a wait but it's because they take there time with the patients. And that's ok with me! I was worried about one of my pups and the vets and techs here ask a lot of questions to make sure they know what's going on they are very attentive and explain things very well. This place is awesome for your pets! Love the staff here the girls are always so friendly! Brought in my Chessie for her shots and the girls made her feel comfortable and welcome. The paperwork was a breeze and they took her in to do her shots very quick and efficient! She got plenty of treats and love from the staff as well. Lots of good things to hear about these guys before we came for our dirst visit and the reviews were great. Their work speaks for themselves and highly recommend their services. They really do care about animals and the work they do shows just that!

I've taken my bird to several vets in Phoenix since moving here, a year ago, and this is the best one I've seen, and will be returning too. While a little more expensive, it's definitely worth the quality care and service. The staff are very friendly, and welcoming. They explained everything clearly, answered all questions I had, and made sure I knew and had everything I needed in order to get my bird back to health. My bird 's wing was injured, he wasn't eating, or acting like himself. Although Dr. Franks wasn't available, the other vet was very knowledgeable about birds and took care of him until I could be seen by Dr. Franks. While doing tests they found he had liver disease, and they put him on medication immediately. Four visits, and two weeks later, my bird's wing is healed, he's flying again, and back to himself. This is the best avian vet I've been to!

I just went to this clinic today and they were amazing! The staff was very helpful and positive. They got my paperwork done quickly so that my dog could get his vaccines. Overall, their atmosphere is great, they are professional, but also very friendly. After my dog was finished with his vaccines. One of the employees took their time to go over the paperwork with me about Sky's (my dog) health.

We brought our older cat here for a check up after we found her spitting up some blood. They were thorough with their exam, kind and gentle with her, and they explained everything very clearly to us. They did some blood work and said it would be probably Monday evening when they got the results back, so they might not be able to call until Tuesday. However, they called us on Monday night right before they closed to talk to us about the results. We appreciated their quick reply to us. It's always so frustrating when you are waiting on information like that and some offices are in no hurry to call. I would recommend this vet to my friends and family.

First time here today and the experience was awesome! The receptionist was very nice and outgoing and helpful with the paperwork process. The vet tech was also very nice and it was comforting knowing that they all had a love for reptiles (I had to bring my bearded dragon in for digestive problems). My beardie is my baby and when he got sick I was very concerned, but Dr. Ivy was very knowledgeable and eased my fears. She started my baby on some medicine and made a follow up appointment a few days from now to check on him. I am more then happy with this experience and glad I chose to come here!

I would not have been so upset if they had called and rescheduled my appointment, but after bringing my dogs down there then waiting 45 minutes to be told the dr. just started on four rooms ahead of me I found it unacceptable. My appointments were for 2 and 2:30 so four appointments would equal around two more hours. I made my appointments 2 weeks prior and am concerned about a lump on one and bad ear on another. they offeredri racial me in May, three weeks from now. Fool me once...

I am so grateful as I am sure that so many other "pet parents" are, that they only charge $5.00 for rabies vaccination!! With pet costs being so costly in general, it is so awesome that they help lower this cost. Helps to protect a lot more of these animals by aiding owners who can't afford this cost therefore omitting this much needed vaccine, thus putting animals and community at risk. I really can't rave about this place enough. They are not only great doctors, but are also so kind. They're eager to help your pets, and are willing to accommodate you the best way they can to make it happen. They saved my ferret with an emergency surgery while still handling their regularly scheduled patient visits, and kept in touch after the surgery to update me on his condition and check on him after I'd taken him home. They also were able to squeeze me into a later time-slot when I was running late one morning and was worried I'd miss my appointment. There are numerous vets far closer to my apartment than North Central Animal Hospital, but I'm happy to drive further for the quality of care and customer service that they provide.

Love this place! The staff and vets are helpful and you can tell how much they care about your pets. Clean facility, and the costs are decent. Sure you can find cheaper places, but for the quality and what I need totally worth it! Plus, $10 rabies shots. Can’t beat it!

I took my dog to this clinic to have her euthanized because her previous appointment was for an an evaluation was hospitable. I made an appointment at 8:30 in the morning to have her put to sleep a dog who in every other way other than some ugly cancer growth on the side of her leg was happy eating well and very curious the whole time I sat in the room. After an hour which was wearing me down I began to yell from the room for someone to come in when I would see the shadow of somebody walking by I would call out trying to get their attention to address my situation. They then came in to give her a shot to relax her before they put her to sleep. I was getting desperate for someone to come in and start something anything. It was breaking my heart to continue to watch her excitement and curiosity.They came in the room 15 minutes after the injection to relax her only it was too soon she was not relaxed. I said such and even asked them to give her another injection but they ignored my request. The Dr then said that it takes a half an hour to 40 minutes for it to come on when you do a muscle shot so I asked her why she waited so long to give her this shot. When I had called before I came I asked if they were going to put her on the horrible metal table and they assured me know we’re going to put her comfortably on the floor with a blanket. I had to ask them for the blanket after an hour I sat on the floor with her with nothing for an hour . The blanket was some flimsy little nothing that was nothing better than putting a paper towel on the floor was not comfortable was not comforting. I’ve put down three animals and this was by far my worst worst experience. I was so exhausted by the time I was able to leave. I would not recommend having your animal put to sleep there perhaps using the vet services but that is not a recommendation from me. Two days later I am still upset not just that her loss but the fact that I had to watch her be curious and go to the door and get excited and for an hour before they even began to process. One of their explanations was they wanted to make sure that I wanted to make this decision. All my other animals I was taking in a room and the process was very short. Nothing keeps you from being sad but I really felt like they dropped the ball on me in a very very bad way. The first thing that I did when I left Was call my son crying to tell him it took an hour and 15 minutes before they put her to sleep and I am exhausted and I am brokenhearted

This is by far the most unprofessional place I have been to. One of the nurse who had something wrong with his hands like a disability and can clearly see scratches on his arms like if he has had incidents with other animals, was the nurse who we sadly had to interact with. Our dog which we got at a pound 10 days prior was there for a check up so the nurse was doing a check up when he seen something on his left wrist to us it looked like a little fish hook but if he was professional he would have known like everyone else who went in knew it was stitches coming out probably from prior surgerys. What does this guy do try to pull the stitches out, let me pull stitches out of any person and they will all react. So what does the dog do he reacted and gave him a nibble because on top of it all he was was too close to him to have even tried to pull on a wound. Anyway I guess that thanks to him our dog is now going to be portrayed as a aggressive dog or a biter because they report it as a aggression towards him. If he was aggressive he would have bit his ear off or not wanted to let go but he did let go and it was only a nibble because his face so was the closest thing to him. The dog was in pain, Unnecessary pain because if he would have known they where stitches he wouldn’t have pulled them! I have a 2 year old at home and a little puppy ever since the new dog came home he has been nothing but sweet and now thanks to this animal hospital our dog will be portrayed as aggressive and won’t be able to play and be the friendly dog he is because he is reported as a biter! Very unprofessional people who didn’t get trained properly!

I brought my hedgehog in because he was losing a lot of quills and was experiencing very dry flaky skin. After bringing him to another vet who just wanted to run very expensive tests right off the bat, I went to North Central to get a second opinion. Dr. Thomas was very knowledgeable on hedgehogs and knew what was wrong. She prescribed him some medication and sure enough, he started getting better within a couple weeks! After nearly going bald, he has finally grown almost all his quill back! We couldn’t be happier and we will definitely come here again if needed!

Wow, i ask my dog to be vaccinated in this place and they turn me down because my dog does not have an appointment. there is nobody in the lobby waiting and i was turned down nicely but still i was not happy. this is how much this place cares about your animal, if you have no appointment, they don't give a dam. i recommend that you take your dog here if you support this kind of attitude.

North Central Animal Hospital is tucked away at the corner of Dunlap and Central, but you wouldn't want to miss out on the hospitable staff and friendly doctors. They are well-equipped and conveniently open during the weekends. Although it's best to make an appointment ahead of time to ensure care, the receptionist was kind enough to squeeze me into the soonest available appointment since I had an emergency. If you live in the area and are looking for a veterinarian to treat your dog, cat, bird, reptile, or exotic, I'd say look no further than here. They are passionate about what they do and follow up on your pet's condition the next day with a phone call to see how things are going. I am satisfied with the care that my animal received at North Central Animal Hospital.

The North Central Animal hospital is amazing! I first found them under the $5 rabies vaccine, which is awesome in the first place. I scheduled my appointments to get all the shots, and oh my god, it was super affordable! Only $50 for all the vaccines and some other things, whereas usually its like $50 to just check in a dog somewhere, disregarding the shots cost money themselves. More-so, the staff here is super friendly and were very helpful! Also, I'm excited to see that they have a bird veterinarian as well, makes it much easier to have all my animals examined in one place. I will update my review once I'm able to have my dog fully examined and my 3 birds. Thank you guys so far for the wonderful experience!

I cannot say enough positive things about this place! I’ve taken Owen twice since the beginning of the year for his rabies booster and to get re-microchipped and the experiences couldn’t have been more pleasant! Prices are very transparent so there’s none of the anxious waiting to pay to see what other services/items my dog ‘needed’ as other vets have done in the past. Everyone that has either helped at the front desk or taken Owen back with them have been incredibly friendly and he just loves it there! Especially love their focus on the animals’ care and not a sales pitch for a pet plan, extra services, etc. My only regret is finding them just a few months before we move out of state! Thanks a lot Dr, Thomas and the whole NCAH team!

First time here today with my ferret. He had cloudy white eyes and I was worried that he might go blind. The technician nor doctor saw what I saw when I was at home. I assumed it was something temporary that had passed. When they took him back to clip his nails they noticed the white cloudiness while holding him upside down. When they put him right-side up it dissipated. This was the weirdest thing I have ever seen in an animal and they were stumped. The provided me information for a special hospital for animal eye care. It is always awesome to see such attention to deal and care for animals. I chose these guys because of their high rating on Google and they lived up to their rating. Thank you, guys.

The hospital/veterinarian establishment has been accommodating and stays in contact with the owner in regards to the pet. This definitely is a needed feature in regards to my puppy Malshi :)

They took us in to have our chicken Red crop looked at. Even though the schedule on Monday was booked. They made time for us to have a look at her. She ended up having crop surgery the same day do to the amount of grass and feathers she ingested. The surgery went well and a ton of feathers and grass was removed from her crop. So far so good. Will be back this Friday or Monday for another exam. Hopefully all goes well.

Fantastic vet! Dr. Thomas treated my bearded dragon. She’s very helpful; she clearly knows her stuff when it comes to pets with scales and feathers (fuzzy ones too, I’m sure, but so far my beardie has been her sole patient from my brood of animals :) ). The techs and support staff were knowledgeable and helpful, too. Everyone in the office was courteous and welcoming. They are great about appointment confirmations and follow-ups, as well. Pricing is very reasonable, especially for exotic pets. We’ll be back!

I was happy they were able to accomodate an appointment so quickly. They offer a vaccine clinic that was great when I was in a hurry to get my dog licensed and tag. Everyone was extremely nice. Now taking my other dog in for vaccines and a full exam. This place will continue to be our choice for animal care. (Very Clean Facility)

Used to be great, now I'm waiting at least an hour usually more, even when I have an appointment. Their care is great, but service is slow. Why have an appointment if it's still gonna take an hour or two before you even see the vet. I'm not saying the appointments take long, it literally takes an hour or more for them to get to you. That 8am first appointment of the day? HAHAHA The vet will be with you at 10am. I'm not exaggerating. There is absolutely no excuse you can give. If I have an 8am Appt I better see a vet by 8am. What's the point of an appointment otherwise

So I adopted a dog on free adoption day at the shelter about a week and a half ago and I had an appointment today at 9 and I called to let them know I might be 10 minutes late. I arrived at 9:07 and was checked in a room and then the worst part began I was in the room for an hour till a technician came in our room and then waited an extra 45 minutes for the doctor to come in for a 5 minute check up also the doctor was too pushy to add more things and was trying to scare me if I didn’t take care of it soon (I’m vet assistant I know it wasn’t serious) my guess is they wanted to make some money off our free exam

I was looking for an exotic pet hospital that was able to see/treat our hedgehog with an eye injury on a Sunday afternoon. I called North Central Animal Hospital and they were very friendly and were able to work us in quickly the same day. Dr. K. Ivy Thomas, DVM and the staff were extremely nice and very knowledgeable. There costs are very reasonable for a weekend availability and especially compared to other animal hospitals I have gone too. So very happy I found North Central Animal Hospital, they are now our primary vet for our little hedgehog and I am definitely recommending them to my friends and family. My cockatiel got sick: he lost his voice. In a couple of days, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Hillary Frank. During this appointment she meticulously checked the bird's throat, lungs, heart. It was amazing and gentle treatment of the small bird. At the end of this "medical exam" Dr Frank found that inflammation was the reason why my bird completely lost his voice. She injected antibiotic into bird's body and prescribed 10 days of antibiotic treatment at home: every day 7 small units of antibiotic should go into bird's mouth. After a week of this treatment, my bird started to sing again. We are so happy and very grateful to Dr. Frank and the entire staff of North Central Animal Hospital. 5 Starts Avian Hospital!

Because Dr. Frank is a certified avian specialist, we chose to bring our aging African Grey parrot to her for care. If you have exotic pets, Dr. Frank should be your vet.

They advertised a delivered on a $5 basic shot for my dog. When I arrived they informed me that my dog needed to have her parvo shot as well, especially in Arizona. The staff were all very friendly and I was in and out of the facility quickly. I will probably make this my go-to place for anything pet related if this good treatment keeps up.

Absolutely wonderful staff at this office! Incredibly clean facility, good parking, seating and the staff was helpful with my questions and concerns. I took my German Shepherd in for a rabies vaccine and it was quick and only 5 bucks! Can't beat that, considering everywhere else wants how much for it? They did a quick exam at no cost on her, too! I also found out that they treat exotics as well! I'll be coming here from now on, for all of my furbabies!

Terrible experience. Took my 14 year old dog in at end of January for exam and vaccinations. 2 weeks later, while getting ready to renew her license, I found she was not given her rabies shot. Had to return to North Central Animal Hospital. At her age, my dog stresses out every time we leave the house and now I had to take her back to the vet. When we arrived, we were told we had to pay a $5 admin fee for the shot. Incredulously, I asked why I had to pay a fee for their mistake. The office manager came out and told me the fee was required and if I didn’t want to pay it, maybe I should look at another facility for my dog’s care. Now, I realize it was only $5 but I told her it was not my fault the shot was missed. Not only was I taking my time to return to the vet, and stressing out my dog, they should be refunding me, not asking for more money. She said an honest mistake was made and she didn’t understand why people always wanted money to be refunded. I agreed, it was an honest mistake but it was theirs and not mine. She finally relented and waived the fee.
