We were referred to the university because our regular vet could not find what was going on with our dog. We saw internal medicine and Dr. Foy was very helpful. He helped figure out exactly what the issue was, something we have been searching months for answers for. The doctor under him, Dr. Joe I think his name was, was so kind to me and compassionate after getting the news. He was the calming presence I needed at that momemt and sat with me in the room until I was ready. Truly the kindest person Ive met in a vet clinic. Thank you so much for everything
All vets and students were very passionated about our sick dog. Thank you. The place is clean and the price is reasonable. Highly recommended.
I took my toy poodle to see them for seizures-they were so comforting and caring. While in the waiting area I met return patients whose parents were also extremely happy with them. I sadly just found a lump on my other dog today and I will be going back tomorrow to see them. I know she will be in great hands with Midwestern
Great place with caring staff. Takes a bit longer than most vets because they are a teaching facility. Love them!
More affordable than any clinic I have been to, very professional and they truly took their time with my sick baby!
This experience i
This vet clinic was amazing with my little Shiba girl and the prices were equally amazing. The students and Drs were so friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone!
I was referred to this clinic when my cat could not be diagnosed at another clinic. He was diagnosed immediately and the cost of the visit and other treatments were affordable and fair. Thank you to everyone at Midwestern for taking care of my "Duke".
I took my dog there for the first time and was very very happy with the knowledge and friendliness of the staff. My dog has been sick and two other vets have not been able to help her and we now have it figured out because of all the eagerness of the students and the staff at Midwestern University veterinary school
Great place because I like students.
Very disappointing, first and foremost, I spent over 5 1/2 hours there, for one appointment that should have taken no longer than 2 hours on the worst day, we just wanted to see what was wrong. They tried telling us to hospitalize our puppy immediately (underweight) we highly considered, until we found out that we could not afford it. So we spent $700 for some testing and medication, instead of their outrageous pricing to keep him there and do what they wanted to do to him. The next day we have animal Control (police) banging at my door trying to take my puppy from me. The reason they came was because, we “are being cruel to our dog”. Midwestern if we did not care about my puppy, why would I waste away a whole day and $700 to try and heal my dog. They also want to charge us about another $300 to run more test next week. I feel hurt, disappointed, angry, and betrayed. I have been going to midwestern university for years (normal doctor, eyes, dental) and never, have I been treated so horrible. Doctor Lori, how can you say you’re trying to help, by taking our puppy away, one day you saw us crying in your room, just for seeing our dog hurt. This is absolutely insulting.
What a rip off dont bring your pet there!. They prey on the love of your pet to screw you out of every dime they can. After taking me for about 500.00 they could not tell me what was wrong with my dog. They wanted to bring her back for more tests no way, these guys were supposed to be the best! (Best at tsking advantage of people) never took my baby back there! 8 months later visiting my sister in ( of all places)Pocatello Idaho i that my baby you a vet here the dr. Figured out what was wrong with my dog within five min. And only charged me 43 bucks. So after 3000.00 of big city high cost vets in Portland Or. And Phoenix Az. The small town dr. Gave my dog some eye drops and she was cured! Dont trust vet that want to run test after test and not give you any answers.
I am so glad I found this animal clinic. I'm sure there are many many good vets, but none seem to be as thorough as the staff and students here. I have recently put my dog to sleep and I did so under duress but the history of my dear old dog was reviewed and they would not have let this happen without consulting with other vets and looking over the health history of my pet. The card afterward, the lovely garden near the euthanasia room were all so appreciated. I will not hesitate to bring my future friend here for care after I have given myself time to grieve for my sweet old friend.
Super great veterinary clinic. The students are amazing!
My cat, Snuggles is going there for cancer treatment. Everyone is so caring and treat my cat like one of their own.
I have seen a few different doctors and students and I have been very, very happy with the service. They helped my dog better than my original vet that I was going to that cost me double in price.
All the staff was very kind, professional and loving with my furry baby. I put her to sleep today and while I was overwhelmed with grief, I was also overwhelmed by the kindness, love and gentle touch of everyone during Tinker's last moments. They explained the procedure and allowed time for last goodbyes. Thank you for your care and gentle touch.
Great students
Midwestern university companion animal clinic are the Best !!!! My Bailey girl had cancer. We found out on Halloween. Dec 15th we let her pass. Everyone we have meet are the kindest staff and students ! I will be letting everyone know. What an awesome place this is! THANK YOU ALL !!!!!!
Caution to all puppy owners. Avoid taking your puppy to this clinic. Biggest scam ever. On there website site they advertise compassion and professionalism. Big lie. The so call vet gave my a 8 week old puppy a death sentence claiming it had Parvo with a price ticket of $800.00 to treat here. Even after showing documentations proofing that the puppy had been vaccinated the vet was not convinced. She said the words of a dead puppy without any compassion or respect for my young daughter who was there with me. This was and still is a very happy puppy who is eating, playing and showing no signs of illness but the so call vet insisted the puppy had parvo. Of course I was going to have a second opinion and I did that the same evening with a really vet at a hospital we were told that after giving a puppy a parvo shot a test can come up positive so you have to wait up to 3 weeks before giving the test of parvo. Retested and the test was Negative. Taking my puppy back again to be rechecked in a few days. Thanks for nothing Midwestern University Companion Animal Clinic this clinic has a compassion and a personality of a jackass. One star is to much but wanted to post review to warn other animal lovers.
I have been taking my furry kids and my family's furry kids ( 10 dogs total) to this place since August 2017. This animal clinic is incredible. I love all vets working (especially Dr. Patricia Bennett and Dr. Robbins) and the all the doctor students I've been seeing recently are AMAZING!! They are very committed take care of your pets. I also respect and appreciate the front desk staff (their work doesn't always get noted in reviews and people tend to forget how caring and kind they are) and how hard they work to schedule your pet in for an appointment. I have been taking my furry kids and my family's furry kids (total 10 doggies) to this place since August 2017. They are great about giving estimates prior to doing any work. They also are good at only doing/charging for medical that is absolutely necessary for your pets. It's so difficult to find a place that cares more about the health of your furry kids. The wait is sometimes a little bit too long but you always get the best knowledgeable folks and their students review your pet's health. THANK YOU for everything you do for us.
I have usually had pretty good care and service here. However, just last week I had a terrible experience with a receptionist named Miranda, which was so bad we will never go here again. My 15 yr old cat who already had Cerebellar Hypoplasia and GI lymphoma in remission, suddenly could not walk a few days prior to me calling. Miranda started off very pleasant. All I said was that I would like to make an appointment for my cat with neurology. Right after I said this she immediately changed her tone and said, "Well, what's going on with your cat that you think you need an appointment with neurology??". She said this in the most insulting, judgmental tone, like how dare you ask for a neuro appt. I explained how my cat was wobbly normally, but suddenly could completely not walk a few days ago. She said "Well, I STRONGLY recommend you take him to our urgent care". I told her that I had already taken him for emergency care to my primary vet in Surprise for the past few days since it had happened. I would like a neuro appt since after all they had done for him, they did not find a cause yet. She repeated that she STRONGLY recommends I take him to their urgent care. I understand why she was saying this, since cat's with heart issues can throw a clot and it's an emergency and extremely painful. However, it was insulting that she just assumed that I had not been taking him for emergency care to be checked for this, and that he was not stable before calling them for this appt. I again told her this, and at this point my voice was shaking, since I realized she did not believe me. She assumed my cat had just stopped walking and I was immediately calling for a neuro consult. This was so extremely insulting to me considering all I had done for my cat the few days prior (xrays, ER ultrasound, complete senior bloodwork, diabetes check, IV fluids while staying at our veterinarian all day during the days with a tech by him at all times, Sub Q fluids at home (since my vet is not 24 hours), pain meds, ER appt scheduled at his oncologist, and ER appt scheduled with a cardiologist in the next few days. I told her I didn't expect an ER neuro consult because I knew how long they book out, but wanted it scheduled just to have it in case he pulls through, and because they were not finding anything else that would cause this at his primary vet. She was silent for several moments then told me to have all of my ER records emailed to them at her attention for Dr. Evans in neurology. And that she would talk to him and see if he would see my cat any sooner. I really appreciated her doing this. I thanked her and had my primary vet email the records when they could. They were extremely busy that day, so I think it did take awhile for them to send them. I still had no expectation to get an immediate appt with Midwestern Neurology, but was thankful that she was going to ask. I've waited a little over a week now and have received no call back from Miranda or Midwestern University Animal Clinic. To say I'm completely disappointed and insulted in their customer service is an understatement. Even if she did not want to deal with me or this situation again, someone else should have called me to tell me they could not get my cat in, or that they straight up preferred not to see him. At the very least, I would have liked Miranda, or someone, make an appt for my cat for a consult, even if it were 3 weeks out, which is what I originally wanted anyway. At this point it would only be a couple of weeks away, and my cat is STILL stable and alive through continued supportive care at home and through our primary vet. To be so immediately judged by one of their receptionists who thought we were doing no ER care, and then never even call us back is ridiculous and also extremely disrespectful. Reception is the frontline of their organization and my husband and I will be telling everyone about our awful experience and complete lack of respect and care. We will be taking our cat to the Vet Neuro Center in Phoenix instead.
Amazing University!!
Our dog just had a stroke we rushed her to the animal hospital they were wonderful they took her right in they were very patient very kind and too great care of her her I would highly recommend this place to everyone. We take our animals here whenever they have any problems.
We just left the clinics about a hour ago. We have been their before several times. This time I was very very impressed with the staff and how quick it was this time. I dread going most of the time because it takes soooooo long but we were in and out in about a hour. Very very happy. The nurse was outstanding. Thank you
I took my dog here for a 2nd opinion regarding a few issue's she's been having. The moment I walked in the door I was greeted by very friendly and cheerful staff, verified my demographics and than had me take a seat. I filled out a few pages of paperwork, all in all took less than 10 minutes. My appointment was at 3:30pm I was taken back a few minutes earlier. The tech/ student and Dr. Thomas were very friendly, compassionate and respectful, took down my dogs history and went over helpful treatments. I received a call the next day about 1 part of the test results and it was explained to me. It was great news compared to what the previous vet had told me. Still waiting for a couple other tests to come back but overall I am thrilled I brought her here. They are so wonderful. You get an estimate of what treatment will cost and you can pick and choose to have it done or not. I like that very much I felt more comfortable to have treatment done here than at the other facility. Cannot wait to take her back for her teeth cleaning. I spent less on all the treatment thus far than what I would have at the other vet, although it's expensive taking any pet to a vet it's affordable and they do take care credit. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.
The treatment plan was made for my cocker spaniel a couple month ago by the doc at midwestern wasn’t working. We ended up in emergency room. They prescribed a new m we ended up in emergency room. They prescribed a new medication for him to prevent seizures. I called dr.Evans office to get a fill for new meds and I was told that doc denied it as he didn’t prescribe it. He put in danger my dogs life! I guess their rules overgo animals lives! I’d NOT recommend this place to anyone who cares about their pets.
I'll never go anywhere else!
My min schnauzer was seen for a dental issue. The Student and the veterinarian were very helpful and friendly. Will be taking all of our pets there if we can get in when a vet is needed.
I just took peanut one of my cats in to get all her teeth removed (had a bad gum infection) DR Alexis Siler again was outstanding . She did one of my other cats about a year ago & i was ecstatic on how she really cars & its not just about the money. She did my first cat patch's & when i got a price from another vet they wanting 1500 to 1700 to clean his teeth & remove . The price was no where near that. Im very very happy with the price & service i get from the doctors & students. Thank you DR Siler
We have taken our dog here three times. First two visits were EXCELLENT! This review is only regarding our visit yesterday, 5-15-19 with Ashley. We were very disappointed with her. She didn't seem to want to hear much about our dog. Everything was in comparison to HER dog and how SHE trains HER dog. We weren't there for training! We were there for yearly checkup and severe anxiety issues. She was full of judgement and she didn't try to hide it at all! Once my husband left to go back to work, she told me that THEY don't feel as though I should bring my dog back. I should find another vet for any further services. Also that she doesn't approve of the shock collar we use. It's NOT A SHOCK COLLAR!! It's a device called, Dog Care, it sends a buzzing/vibration to the collar. It does NOT hurt him and is the BEST thing we have tried(we have tried everything!). Mind you, it was not even used while there for the visit. So, after everything was done and we were meeting the doctor and finishing up Ashley starts reading the discharge papers, turns to me and says "I guess we can keep seeing him". I guess she had to say that because the vet told me how good he was even wrote that on the paperwork. The other student also proceeded to tell me how he just walked up to everyone in the back wanting love and he was really sweet. I left feeling very confused. Is my dog allowed back or is he banned? We loved going to Midwestern but I guess we can't any more. We really loved our first two visits, I have recommended them to everyone I know. I'm really bothered by our visit yesterday, just can't seem to shake off the way we were treated and judged by Ashley.
Student Dr. Mikala nailed it. Yoshi misses her already.
I am so impressed with the level of services and the compassion of this teaching facility!!! The vets and students ask every question and tended to my basset hounds needs. Poke my dots felt so comfortable with his surgeon he put his head on the Drs foot while he was explaining the procedures and treatments he was to under go. I can't even find the words to say thank you the right way ! But thank you a million times. The front office is awesome the student vets awesome the attending physicians and surgeons awesome. I will never take my basset hounds anywhere else again. You folks have made such a horrible experience easier to handle. Hugs from me and wet sloppy kisses from poke my dots (sir)
They only care about the money not your pets, I am very disappointed as my experience with Midwestern clinics for humans had been very different. Holding the medicine hostage because I didn't pay them on time? I paid for that consultation and 2000.00 later my Dog is not better. They said medication takes time but won't refill the meds because I need to pay them? My dog is in worst condition than it was before and I have not refuse to pay what I owe , my exact words I will start paying when she starts getting better , btw I had already paid them 700.00 Not like it was free.
They are not concerned about your dog they are just worried about putting money on their pockets. Find a vet that loves animal's and not the mighty dollar. Very upset at the customer service I received or lack there of! Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
I love this place. I used to take my dogs to Banfield until my mom told me about Midwestern's vet clinic. They helped her dog with an ongoing problem that Banfield couldn't diagnose after numerous visits. Dr. Robbins diagnosed the issue within one visit. I took my dog to get a behavioral analysis and was absolutely amazed. This place is like Mayo Clinic for dogs and the people actually care and want to help your animals. When I spoke to the vet, she evaluated my dog and actually gave me answers as to why he behaves the way he does and recommended I speak to a dog behaviorist, not a trainer unlike Banfield kept recommending. Plus they gave him a complete check up (which I was not even expecting). They sent me away with some antibiotics for an ear infection, great advice, and peace of mind. I highly recommend Midwestern University's veterinary clinic and will continue to take my dogs there for follow up care.
they were good, kind and compassionate - I had to put my kitty down and they made it as comfortable as possible and were compassionate. I will be taking my other kitties in for wellness. I am all for the learning environment; my kitty got help and they get to learn.
My first time there. My dog has been sick for a few months the entire staff was GREAT!! Unfortunately I had to make a hard decision to put my dog Stella down. The staff let me spend as much as I wanted with her before they took her back. I Loved the card they sent it was very personal and I cried some more that they took the time to actually write something instead of just signing it. Great Place
Amazing staff and facility. I wish I knew about this place sooner. Couldn't ask for better
I have had only great experiences at the companion animal clinic. Their customer service is excellent. They are the best veterinary clinic in the area by far.
Love the staff and students here they take the time to throughly explain everything they are going to do for your pets
Office staff was pleasant. Clinic has no check-in, preliminary screening procedure other than bombarding you with a ton of questions that could've been taken care prior to the appointment, saving over 30 minutes of time. Clinic took over 2 hours to fulfill basic check-up appointment w/2 shots administered. Vet student took dog after preliminary exam to have services performed, and walked back and forth 3 times (totalling over an hour of wasted time, between our little closed room and an unknown location we weren't allowed to go) to have simple questions answered, which notably disturbed our pet, you could tell with each visit, the animal became more and more distressed. Questions that could've been easily asked prior to the appointment, that would've greatly streamlined this entire over complicated endeavor. Finally, after waiting a sum of 2 entire hours, we demanded they finish so we can leave. A few minutes later the veterinarian came by and said, and I quote, "Hi. I HAD to come by to say hi. Your dog is fine, have a nice day.". She had to come by? This place sucks, I'm never bringing my animal back. The staff is out of their element, slow to respond to questions, indecisive, poor communicators, and apparently, don't understand that we don't have all day to sit around, while they walk our animals.
Great clinic, friendly staff, students, and DVMs. I trust them.
