Thank the dog gods for these reviews. I was thinking of changing vets to this place as a new neighbor said she was happy with her FIRST visit here. What got me thinking about it was the hours of operation. We are in an area with few 24 emergency vets and the two we have are in very rough areas of the west valley. Thankfully, I read these reviews and frankly even I am surprised. I knew the prices would be higher because of the 7 day a week 12 hours a day operation. There is another animal hospital here in surprise (that shall remain nameless), with similar hours and highway robbery prices and sub par service. Well it seems this place a rip off too! Not to mention, the responses to some of these reviews by the office, is shockingly unprofessional and even downright appalling. Claiming people are “inebriated” and throwing them out of the office when they are grieving a pet that’s dying???? Even with a witness review who saw the entire incident, still the office responded that this incident never happened. Really? Judging the pet owners for taking too long to have the pet seen... and claiming a “healthy pet doesn’t have seizures”? Epilepsy occurs in healthy people and animals. What kind of vet would say that?? Despicable. Totally classless and I think this should reported as unprofessional. Thank you to all who took the time to write honest reviews here. I’m staying far away from this place AND I will share these with my new neighbor who was obviously not aware of any of this .. she will be now!! Hopefully this office with learn something ... not just from all the unhappy clients, but from their totally juvenile responses to the negative reviews.

Dr. Howard has a calm, honest, sincere and cautious approach, with me as the owner, and with my cat. I appreciate that he is willing to sometimes take a wait and observe attitude to treatment, rather than rushing into xrays and expensive tests! The rest of the staff is knowledgeable and helpful too. It's a friendly office and costs are better than where I've gone before. But, the quality of care is the best! And, I didn't have to wait a week for an appointment when my cat injured herself. I highly recommend Animal Medical Center of Surprise.

The hours were perfect for us as we ended up calling in on a Sunday morning because our dog was not able to walk on her front leg. She was in obvious distress and Medical center helped ease the stress of an already stressful situation by being prompt in scheduling and meeting us at the door with a stretcher for our girl. Front desk was wasted no time in getting her weighed and places in a room for the doctor to see her. The doctor on duty was great. Explained everything in simple yet informative terms truthfully and gave us our options. Although we did not consider a few options, the doctor was understanding and not pushy about our choices at all. We got our girl back home and comfortable within a very short time, and will trust them with any of our animals if and when needed.

Our little dog came down with an ear infection the day before we were scheduled to head for home in WA. This was on the Saturday before Easter Sunday....our regular Vet was closed, I called 6 to 10 clinics and told the earliest they could see our dog would be Monday. I was desperate, but decided to try Animal Medical Clinic before to a Emergency Vet Clinic. What a great surprise!!! Animal Medicine of Surprise is one of the best kept secrets in the Phoenix metro!! They got our dog in within an hour, did a thorough exam and treated the ear infection for a very reasonable price. Dr Paquin answered all of our questions, the staff was friendly and very helpful. What a great experience and happy ending....and we will be back!

Wasn't impressed at all. Took my feline in October 2018 and they racked up a bill, sent me on my way telling me my cat was diabetic but they couldn't monitor him and that he had a 10% survival rate. Vet was very uncaring and in my opinion ride at times. Vet tech was a sweetheart ❤️ I'm happy to report my cat is alive and wasn't diabetic at all. We just needed a vet that was concerned with his health instead of hoping to collect $1300. .

Both the veterinary care and business practices of Animal Medical Center of Surprise are top-drawer. Dr. Paquin is an excellent diagnostician, has a gentle touch with our pups, and has a great bedside manner with precise communication skills. We found the nursing, tech, and front desk staff to be professional as well. A staff member even made a follow-up call the day after their deep cleaning and oral surgery, and that was in addition to a most informative Doctor's Instructions. Ditto kudos for the business side of this practice. All charges were explained up front and explained with clarity. For those conscientious folks who keep up with their pet's preventative health an affordable in-house payment plan is available. If only human medicine copied what we have found at AMCS life would be whole lot easier.

I called earlier today to setup an appointment for a possible UTI on my 9 month old kitten. I was happy to hear that I could bring my cat and concerns in immediately. After the $50 dollar hand shake and a "hows the weather"?from the doc, it was decided my cat required a urine test and maybe an antibiotic. The tech comes back into the room with a "care plan" exceeding $800 dollars... 800 dollars for concerns over a possible UTI. But wait, it gets better! After about 3 hours I call to come get my pet, the doc contacts me back and tells me my cat was too difficult and was lunging at him/staff... urinated on himself (likely out of fear, just a guess.....), but they gave him an sedative and antibiotic shot and put him back in his crate and that I could come get him. I cant help at this point thinking of several adults being unable to handle a kitten. Ego and inflammatory comments aside... I show up to my cat shaking in his crate covered in urine and blood on his feet and hind legs. The doc says to me well somethimes these things happen unfortunately... any questions? and walks out. The tech woman then comes in and makes sure ive paid for the stellar service ($150 total for a handshake, the doc touching my cats stomach, and an antibiotic shot). So now im at home trying to not stress my pet out further and get all the urine and blood off of him. Thanks.

We are new and just moved to the area. We needed to find a vet for our littleman. He wasn't feeling well. We made an appt. When we got there the front office greeted us. We we're seen right away the tech was wonderful she handled our baby with care. The doctor was great explained everything. Our baby had to have surgery. Brought my little dog in with a tummy ache. He he hadn't been eating that morning. The vet spent less than 2 minutes with my dog, sent his asst. In with "care plan" of 550 for an x ray and bloodwork. I asked if there was anything we could do before that like stool softeners. They refused to suggest anything other than they're 600$ plan. I left got natural stool softeners pumpkin and milk, dog began to eat that day relieved himself hugely the next morning and is normal hyper nutball again. This place could care less about the animal, they wanted money plain and simple. Also the most expensive x Ray price I was ever quoted. Go somewhere else people plenty of good honest helpful vets in this area. My care plan cost 3$ For pumpkin and milk, I would have wasted 600$ because they're was no blockage, or need for bloodwork. They made it seem like it could be a fetal choice to wait 24 hours... All so they could have given me stool softeners which I had suggested multiple times. This is a vet chop shop, all dollars no sense.

All 3 of our dogs became sick and this was the first time we met with this clinic. Our experience was amazing, not only did they take over 4 hours to try and find out what had caused our pets to get sick but they were great on costs and the care of our dogs. After they had exhausted all options, we hadn't quite figured out what happened, for the next week while our dogs recovered they followed up with us everyday and a few follow up visits. The staff and docs were wonderful and truly cared about the health of our dogs, I would highly recommend them and thanks for the great care of our fur babies!

I have to say I'm blown away by this place.... truly one of the best vet clinic I've been to in a long time, they got me in really fast and helped my 5 week old puppy with so much love. The vet we saw was so nice and explained everything in such simple terms.... the staff is hands down AMAZING!!!! By far the worst experience at a vet ever DO NOT GO HERE. First of all they told my fiance over the phone that the first time visit was FREE so she chose to book the appointment there based solely on that because our original veterinarian was booked till the following week. So I take him and they say he had a ear infection and a hematoma which I already knew they said they will discuss options and come back with a few options. The vets assistant comes back with a quote of 1100 dollars which is absolutely ridiculous he had the same thing happen last year and it was less than 200 dollars to get the hematoma drained and for the meds. So I asked what the other options there were because I couldn't afford that she preceded to try to get me to finance it I again asked what other options and they kept pushing the 1100 so I told them that our original vet drained it and gave meds for 185 and I could afford to do that she told me hold on.Then came back and said they dont do that which is ridiculous because every vet does it.So I again asked what other options there were and she preceded to tell me that the only thing the could do was give me the meds and I could come back when I had the money for the 1100 so I declined then they had me sign that I declined services I'm ready to leave and they tell me I owe 50 dollars so I called my fiance and she said again the visit was FREE so I had them contact her. The girl at the front desk tried to make it seem like she didnt tell her that then asked for a coupon which she didnt tell her there was a need for. They were taking forever to resolve the situation so I told them I couldn't wait any longer I had my child it was dinner time that they could rectify it with my fiance and left. There practices are horrible and dishonest tell you one thing over the phone to get you in the door then slap an outrageous bill in front of you don't honor there word then expect you to pay if you look at there reviews all the good ones are from months ago if you scroll down you can see bad reviews that are from a week ago so that tells you what your dealing with there not even honest enough to keep there review dates in order There are way better more honest vets in surprise dont waste your time or money.

On October 16th 2018. It was around mid-morning myself and wife had happened to see a very disturbing incident that happened at Animal Medical Center of surprise we were getting out of our car and seen two ladies very upset crying and then they had pulled out a German Shepherd that look like was having a seizure the German Shepherd looked very healthy besides what was going on a very good-looking German Shepherd Myself and my wife sat. and watched everything that was going on we could see right into the office the animal was brought back into a room and three assistant's pull the women into another room minutes later one of the ladies came out crying on her phone she had left the other lady was still inside about 20 minutes later the other lady had returned she was still crying as she tried walking back into the clinic the three ladies that have previously brought them back had tried pushing this young lady out of the door physically almost pushing her to the ground the lady that was still inside went up to them crying still and they backed off the other lady and when they did that they had locked the door on her and they were all at the counter mingling laughing and literally laughing at the lady crying inside minutes later she had came out with the German Shepherd wrapped in a blanket I can see that the German Shepherd had passed away I pray to God that Animal Medical Center of surprise get their license took and shut down no human being should bring their animal there at all whatsoever I have contacted the Better Business Bureau as well as the Arizona State Veterinary Medical Examining Board. I hope that those to women are ok me and my wife are really disturb they not only let that animal die but assaulted as well as verbally assaulted those pour Lady's never in our life had we seen such disgust.

We drove 4 days and arrived with a very sick puppy. We didn’t have any connections in the area, but looked online to find the vet open the earliest the next day. We were so lucky. The owner, the doctor and the staff were awesome. They worked us in and did a very thorough exam. Treatment was given and in 3 days he was back to normal. Very scary for us and it was such a relief to find this place. Yes, it was expensive, but aren’t they all? For what they did, it was fair.

Last December my dog was in serious condition with a high temperature and dehydrated. He had been seen about 4 days before that because his hind legs were giving out. After meds and xrays and the tune of over $800, they sent us home. When we returned and he was very sick, the vet was concerned of their closing time and the vet tech was only concerned with me applying for a care credit credit card for them to start caring for him! Because of the lack of care or concern, the doc said my dog was only getting worse. My dog was there for 1 hr and I don't feel that the 2nd vet even read his chart from a few days before. He then suggested we put my dog to sleep. I honestly hate this company, their greed, and their lack of care when you are in desperate times.

This vet is outrageously over priced. I took my dog in for a hematoma on his ear, he had one on his other ear about a year ago and we had taken him elsewhere to have the surgery to remove it. I was going to take him back to the other vet but they were booked 2 weeks out and I wanted to get it taken care of promptly. I spent $50 for an exam just for them to try to charge me $600 more for the surgery. The other vet charged $300 and Animal Medical Center of Surprise told me it would cost $900. They are crooks!

Left our old vets office due to not being able to get an appointment for our very sick dog. Called these people and were seen the same day. Extensive blood work was done and it turned out our dog has diabetes. I hate to think what would have happened if we waited a full week for an appointment. Everyone has been so great in that office! They answer all of our questions in detail and are working with us on nutrition for our very picky dog! They taught us to administer insulin and we've had no issues! Prices are fair. Staff and vet are very friendly and knowledgeable. They even have two house cats who visit with the people visiting! Hours of operation are 7 days a week with about twelve hours per day open. Easy to get an appointment!

After several negative vet experiences in Surprise, I finally found a vet service who care about us! Every single staff member was happy to greet us. Our Vet Tech, Robb, was super attentive to our pup and made me feel like we were getting taken care of. My pup is a rather anxious 3 yr old, when the Vet Dr came in he didn't just jump into things, he sat on the floor and let our pup calm down before trying to start the exam. When we discovered an infection in pup's blood, they took the time to explain everything to me (multiple times!) to make sure I understood what was happening and our treatment plan. Very happy we found a good vet team!!

Check the pictures for the unnecessary charges WARNING OVER CARGES, please get a second opinion from another Vetranary clinic the prices are out not competitive. When I explained that I felt over charged the explanation I received was sorry you signed and those are our prices. I found I was overcharged when I was able to call places on Monday after my dogs life was would have been over I could have saved hundreds going somewhere else. I could not wait till the weekday my pet my family memeber would not be with us today, and I thank them for that but the price was incredibly higher than other places. So you're saying you need two separate x-rays and two separate charges for general anesthesis. So $55.50 for gloves is a nice price.

We just moved to the area and brought with us our two dogs, Sammy, an 8 yo Yellow Lab and Bliss out 7 yo Brindle Boxer. We have had many vets throughout their lives, but none who have delivered the greatest of care and love for our pets, such as here at Animal Medical Center of Surprise. The facility was extremely clean and had a feel a spa not a medical facility. The staff was supportive, funny, and still remained professional with EXCEPTIONAL customer service. I have 2 family members who are veterinarians, and I have high expectations. We received emails about our dogs's lab work and several follow ups (via phone) by the Dr. Paquin himself who allowed me the opportunity to ask further questions as needed. 5 stars is NOT enough! If you love your animals, this is where you won't go wrong with the top notch care for them and your own peace of mind.

My cat was sick , took her in did tests n ended up having a procedure that quite frankly she had absolutely no problems with , she was 100 percent better that same evening compared to when I brought her in ! Then they are rude and act like they never told you nothing. We were given the suggestion to see Dr. Paquin at Animal Medical Center of Surprise and the rest is history. He was patient with our zillion questions, listened intently to our concerns, offered in depth explanations, and made us feel very at ease. Dr. Paquin is a gentleman who likes cats (a HUGE plus in our book) so that made this whole transition from our former cat specialist to a new small animal specialist very seamless and easy. The staff at AMCofS were very professional and compassionate and the facility was immaculate. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a small animal veterinarian in the west valley. We are pleased with the quality of care and so very happy to have found them.

We went to their office to check it out before making an appointment. They were very nice and friendly, they gave me basic information and a welcome packet. When we returned with my cat they again were friendly and very knowledgeable. We ended up ordering my cats pills online with them that day and I got a paper prescription as well a few days later when we needed it.

I took my cat in for his wellness exam and to get fixed. Not only were they able to see him ASAP I was able to get his surgery done within a couple of days, other vet's were telling me they could not neuter him until August. The ladies there were so nice, the docs were great and the office cats are sweet. I will ONLY take him to AMC for now on. They offer wellness plans to make things easier financially.

We had just moved to the area from Alaska with our two 11 year old dogs. We knew that our boxer had lymphoma and had a limited amount of time left, but she rapidly declined from the stress of the trip and the extreme weather change. We visited this vet on Friday evening and they were kind compassionate and explained multiple different options for future care with us, never trying to persuade us one way or another. Unfortunately we had to visit them again Sunday morning to put our sweet Java to rest. The vet tech, Micah, displayed amazing professionalism and compassion during this incredibly difficult time. Dr. Sweeny displayed that same compassion and professionalism throughout the process. Rates for all services were very reasonable. A few days later the compassion of this office was showcased again when we received a beautiful card in the mail signed by all the staff expressing their condolences for the loss of our sweet Java. I highly recommend them and will be returning here for all of our veterinary service needs.

HE is the best Vetenarian I have found in forever. He LISTENS to me. PAYS ATTENTION to my pup and is not rushed or distracted. He makes recommendations but does not shove them down my throat or scare the Hell out of me , thus forcing me to do something I am not emotionally or financially capable of. I do not recommend this place. If the word gets out that it is the best place around it will be very busy.

Best vet to go to for an emergency hands down. We needed an emergency euthanasia for our boy who took a sudden down turn. They were they only vet within a 2 hour drive from us who would see him without a $300 bill. They made sure we didn't have to wait in the waiting room and gave us all the time we needed. Everyone was extremely sympathetic and understanding throughout the visit, and it was a quiet end to a long road. Our boy was so comfortable in his last moments that he passed purring. They are the third vet hospital I've been to to treat my dogs cracked toe. As you might guess the other two were either incompetent or money motivated. They saw my G. Shepard quickly after calling them. The technician and the Doctor have me a sense of confidence and competence in their efforts. Of the four Vet hospitals I've had experience with in the Surprise/Phoenix area, they are my go to vet hospital now. Rates are competitive, staff listens, and they give good and more thorough discussion and evaluation information. Glad I kept looking! I'm quite pleased with their hospital and staff and easily recommend they to anyone looking for veterinary services.

Dr. Paquin and his staff (all of them) are top notch, which to say so still does not do this clinic justice. I came to them as a new patient at a time that my dog had multiple underlying medical issues I was not aware of. I was referred by a friend who said this place was awesome . My dog was itching real bad, bad enough that he was bleeding from the scratching . I requested an appointment online and received a call back 10 minutes later . I was given an appointment for the next afternoon I didn’t have to wait two weeks like Vet . when we arrived we are greeted at the door by very friendly and professional people. There was no waiting we were seen immediately . Everyone we dealt with Took the time to explain and to ensure that I had no questions about anything . When we left there we were told that the itching should go away in about 24 hours and it did . We receive the care and the medicine that my dog needed I was so impressed with their service that I would highly recommend you go there .

My 14 year old kitty had been sick for quite some time and was declining quickly when I woke up this morning. My usual vet doesn’t open until 8 and I came across Animal Medical Center of Surprise while looking for another vet (other than the Emergency Animal Clinic). He passed away before I arrived. I walked in and told the lady at the front that I was not a client but that my kitty had passed away and I needed help. Everyone was so kind to me while arranging for cremation. They made a very difficult time a little easier. I have three dogs as well and I will bring all of them here for care from now on. Thanks again for the kindness.

I recently moved to Surprise, AZ from Long Beach, CA to be near my family. I hadn’t found a vet for my 7 yr old male boxer, who’s always been very healthy. Recently, my big boxer literally fell over with what appeared to be a seizure, or heart attack. My uncle and I performed dog CPR, and thankfully, my sweet boy came back! Ofcourse, my family and I were a wreck. I “Googled” “best veterinarian Surprise, AZ,” and Animal Medical Center of Surprise had excellent reviews. I called and was able to be seen within the hour. Dr. Paquin and his entire staff were professional, attentive and kind. Greg, the nurse, (my apologies if I’m not remembering the proper name,) was so patient and kind. Dr. Paquin was also professional, thorough and direct in evaluating my boxer boy. I appreciated his sharing the lab results on the emr system. The clinic is clean, open, bright and welcoming. And, the nurse and Dr. Paquin called the next few days to check in on my boxer and provide UA results. Excellent customer service! Most of all, my big boxer is back to his wiggle butt, snorty boxer self! I’ve found a vet “home” and am so thankful! Thank you Dr. Paquin and staff; much Love!

I have to say when I first took my dog I was impressed with the vet and staff. I knew the place was costly but never in my wildest thoughts this vet is money hungry. Every time I took my dog in it was no less then 300.00. My dog is diabetic. I also am a medical Rn not for Vets though. Dr wanted to seen him every three to four weeks after the first two visits for weeks apart and over a thousand dollars. I can afford that. I love my dog but felt he was running unnecessary blood test on my dog. I wanted other alternatives. There was non. At the last visit Dr wrote me a script for Vetsulin for my dog I requested it. Being a member of Costco runs me 12.00 cheaper then what he was selling it to me. I went to Costco dropped off the script they called the Vet to confirm the script. He took back the script he wrote. Denied the refill. His staff left me a message doctor wanted to see my pet and run labs on him again. The quote I received from Meghan was 355.00 and that did not include vet visit. I call and asked if there was anything cheaper I can do or an alternative, she placed me on hold and asked the vet. He said flat out no. And wasn’t giving my dog no more Vetsulin unless I came in and had the test he recommended. I or any physician I’ve worked with would of not treated a patient like this. I took my dog to a different facility to establish care I explained the bind I was in. This vet examined my dog did run a urine test which by far was 72% cheaper then the animal hospital. She checked his sugar level in the office. She gave me the option for addl testing. She wrote me a script with refills changed his dosage and wants to see Boe in 3 months. That’s what I called service. I didn’t break her bank and she didn’t break mine. Be careful here. Shop around for prices. You would be surprised.

Yesterday was our first visit and I am very pleased with the service and the politeness of the staff. My cat had a very swollen foot and despite having an appointment with our regular vet, I wanted him seen as soon as possible. The Animal Medical Center of Surprise was able to see him almost right away. It was very professional, they showed me every little thing wrong with his foot (x-rays, photos, etc) which our previous vet never did--they stopped letting us even come into the room with our pets during visits. Despite the fact that our previous vet is cheaper than this one, it's well worth the price and I will be coming here from now on. It was by far the best experience I've had at a vet yet! They even called me in the morning to check up on him. He's now resting comfortably and I have piece of mind knowing that he is taken care.

The Vets that had participated were Karen Schlachter, Carrie Carver, Megan Ellett and Garnet Gladwish. Since they couldn’t check what was going wrong with my dog, we still have no clue what had killed her. This had to been the most horrible thing I’ve experienced. It’s unbelievable this was handled by trained professionals. This traumatized me and many others and now we no longer have beloved companion. I just needed to let somebody know that this wasn’t a place no one should go to for help. I regret ever going to them to help my loved animal. All we got from this encounter was a life gone and the demand for money. I wish for no one to ever experience what I went through. No words can describe this empty filling that will never be filled because she is gone.

I am very dissapointed with the service I just received here and I feel like I got taken advantage of. I brought my dog in because he had gotten in to the trash and ate tampons. I wanted them to immediately induce vomiting, however the vet and vet tech were extremely pushy about doing X-rays. My dog is 105 pounds and I knew he would be able to throw it up easily. The vet had the nerve to try to tell me we can’t induce vomiting because there may be nothing in his stomach. He ate the trash 1 hour prior to being there.. either the vet is stupid or he thought I was stupid. They did 177$ X-rays and then decided to induce vomiting. The vet came in 15 min later and said my dog wasn’t vomiting.. he also said, “we walked him and he pooped, but there was nothing in his poop”.. again, he must have thought I was stupid. My dog dug through the trash an hour prior... so my dog never threw up, I had useless X-rays done, and I’m out 226$. Maybe they unintentionally took advantage of me out of their own stupidity, but I’m still upset. Thank you animal medical center for absolutely nothing.

I just recently started going to this establishment and am outraged at the cost for my dogs healthcare here. I have been going to Sunburst Animal Hospital in Phoenix for the past 5yrs and love them to death but I needed to find a Vet that was closer to my home so I started going to Animal Medical Center of Surprise. Both my dogs (Boxers) needed treatment for non life threating issues and I was told that the cost for the one dog would be $1200 and the cost for the other would be $900.00, I wasn't very pleased with this amount and decided to take my dogs back to my original vet for a second opinion. Well low and behold the cost that the other vet wanted in the amount of $1200 was only going to cost me $350.00 and the cost of $900 was only $65.00!!!!! and mind you I have Pet Insurance, This is highway robbery. I will not be going back to this place ever again and will reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. And if you notice here on these reviews the Doctor (owner) only responds to people who give a positive review of 5 stars!! What does that say???

My husband and I are new to Arizona and had a hard time finding a good Veterinarian until we found Dr. Paquin at Animal Medical Center of Surprise,(AMC of Surprise). Doctor Paquin and his entire staff are very professional and knowledgeable. They answer any and all questions with my complete confidence in their knowledge. They have taken great care of two of our Dobermans. Onyx, one if our Dobermans experienced a CCL injury & has Valley Fever. Being new to the area we didn't even know what Valley fever was, never even heard of it. We previously took Onyx to another vet, Dr. Crofoot(total quack) at "Grand Paws Veterinary in Surprise on three occasions for a terrible cough and they never diagnosed her with Valley Fever. You can read that review on their reviews, by me. Onyx then had a CCL injury & we took her to see Dr. Paquin and staff. at AMC of Surprise. Dr. Paquin diagnosed her right away with Valley Fever and she also had TPLO Surgery to repair her CCL, preformed by another excellent Veterinarian, Dr. Lenny, as referred by Dr. Paquin. Due to Dr. Lennys expertise with orthopedic surgery. The surgery was a successful one. My husband and were kept informed by staff and both Dr. Paquin and Dr. Lenny throughout. I would NEVER take my fur-babies to any other veterinarian in this area ever again. I cannot thank Dr, Paquin, Dr. Lenny and the entire staff of AMC of Surprise enough for the care and love they have shown Onyx. The staff is absolutely fantastic, with stellar follow up procedures and keeping us informed of everything from A to Z regarding our fur-baby Onyx. If you love your pet and want the best in veterinary treatment this is the place!! Everyone there has been a delight.
