They take the time to explain everything and I really feel they care about my kitty. My cat is very comfortable in their office and is always excited to see everyone. He's usually purring and being extra charming in their office. I'm glad I've trusted his diabetes management to Dr. Fornara and the staff at Alta Mesa.

I went to Alta Mesa Animal Hospital because we got a rescue dog and they offered a free first visit within 10 days for rescues. While I had taken my previous dog to another local vet, I will be sticking with Alta Mesa because their staff was so friendly and the Dr's bedside manner was awesome. She sat down on the floor with my dog and made a friend as she was examining her. My dog also had kennel cough so they brought the prescription into the exam room and allowed me to pay in there as well (rather than going to the front desk to check out). I appreciated this courtesy for the other dogs, so they wouldn't be exposed to the cough. Thanks for the great service, Alta Mesa Animal Hospital!

I am so disappointed. My poor son who only needed to have one vaccine updated ended up walking out of there for over $100.00 and is just shell shocked. It's just such a bummer that they don't tell you up front that you have to have a Doctors exam every time you have to update a vaccination and that for a single vaccine you are looking at spending about $80.00...OUCH! Considering we were just there in the previous months for her examination, it's crazy to have to spend the money on another examination for the vaccine..... And even when I called to ask questions as to why he wasn't explained this, the answer was that all vaccines are always given with a doctor exam except for Bordetella even if an examination was done last month. It would be nice if this was part of their protocol when they call to schedule these...it would save their clients from being surprised at this cost as I am. I listened to the voicemail on his cellphone and it just says the vaccine is overdue and to call and schedule an appointment to update this......again....not indicating that an exam would have to be done for the vaccine......just such a bummer as this was a very nice hospital and we felt so comfortable being there....and they are so nice...just expensive.

Had older dog I took in with a lump on his neck they did blood work and unfortunately he had cancer. Every single person in that office was so kind and loving to me and my dog. I never had a pet pass away and had no idea how devastating it was going to be to me and my family. They cared for my dog till the end and were kind enough to send a card and check on me which I totally appreciate. We now have a new puppy named Zero I wouldn't take him any place other then Alta Mesa we love them.

I have 3 cats. I had to bring AJ in as an emergency. He had a blockage in his urianary track. They were wonderful and helpful! when he needed a special surgery they referred me to a wonderful place in Gold Canyon.Yes, it took another test. BUT they found the problem quickly and worked on saving me money. Did the surgery and he has been healthy ever since.{ 4 Years} He is 15 yrs young and active. My other cat Sache had lost a lot of weight quickly. One blood test and Alta Mesa found the problem. His thyroid. One pill and he is active,happy and weighs 12 lbs. When my finances changed the Vet and office people worked with me. You can't please everyone. They have made my cats and I very happy. Thank You!

I really have mixed feelings about this as my pup really likes the doctor! BUT, when I am told $100 for a prescription that I can buy online for $28... and am told they will price match and then told "Oh, it's a different brand so it doesn't count"... I get VERY tired of having to play prescription police!!!! They know it's not worth that and they get paid VERY well for services! I am done with them. I may have a difficult job finding a vet who doesn't do this but I have to stand by what I think is right. I do not fault anyone for making money... Just for being highway robbers on products they sell and KNOW it can be purchased elsewhere for 25% to 35% of what they charge.

They know me and my dog and always do a follow up call within a day or 2 to see how he is doing both Dr. Patt and Dr. Swisher are professional and caring and the vet techs are the best in the business as far as we're concerned. I have taken all of my pets to this office over the years. Everyone is always extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They always remember my dog's name and take extra care to make sure he feels comfortable at the vet. My dog actually looks forward to going to the vet because he knows how nice they are and that he gets treats! The office is very clean and they really will take care of your animal. This office is actually very out of the way for me because I live in Scottsdale now, but I make the drive out here because I love them so much!

When I called to make an appointment, I was kind of panicked about my dog, Rico having eaten plastic. Right from the beginning on the phone, the staff was friendly and concerned, yet professional. When we got there, we were shown into the patient room, where the Vet Tech helped calm Rico down and had him ready for the doctor in no time. The Doctor was there to check him out right away. I followed her to Alta Mesa Animal Hospital because she is knowledgeable, compassionate and reasonable. At first I did not like this clinic, but I was actually contacted by the administrator and decided to stay as a client, which I’m glad I did because honestly this is a good clinic. I ended up getting my dogs dental work done here and while I feel it was insanely expensive I believe I also paid for the high level of quality care my dog received that I wouldn’t have received elsewhere. Also my dog was very happy. She sees Dr. Kristin Fornara and my dog hates the vet but as soon as Dr. Fornara walks in the room she calms down immediately, that’s how you know they’re being treated right and well cared for. This clinic is super clean and well organized which I also love and of course it’s very close to my home. They’re one of the only ones in the area that takes the pet insurance my company offers too. They’re an AAHA Accredited Hospital so yes, you’re paying a bit more than other vets but you’re getting a quality of care that can’t be matched. They handle the animals really well and I feel very comfortable leaving my dog in their hands when needed which is a lot coming from an overprotective pet parent like myself.

I called the facility earlier today and I was told that I would be sent an estimate for the bording and my dog shots. When no email came I called back, and then they told me that they couldn't board the dog after they told me that I could. I wouldn't waste my time with these people they don't know what they're telling people

SHIFTY AND UNSCRUPULOUS! After examining my dog, this place quoted me almost $800 to pull 1 tooth. When I decided to go for a 2nd opinion, Anderson Animal Clinic quoted me a fourth of the price and said pulling the tooth might not be necessary. Sure enough, the tooth was fine and DID NOT need to be pulled. In short, the scam artists at Alta Mesa Animal Hospital were willing to perform surgery on my dog just to make a buck. AVOID THESE LIARS!

Took my sick dog there Saturday. She has been going there her whole life. Not eating or drinking. They took blood and She had a fever. Sent me home with no medications. They said it was probably valley fever and she would be fine. Called me Monday to bring my dog back becuase I was told they didnt draw enough blood. Dog died Tuesday. She was only 7 years old. Called and told them. Went there to drop her off for cremation. Doctor told me the lab didnt pick up all the blood. They then told my mother in law they gave it to the lab and they did something to it......They then told my wife she could have gone to the animal ER but would of been expensive so they did not recommended it. I don't think that should have been their choice. The doctor made it sound like she was going to be ok.......now I am out a very loyal and best friend and my 3 year olds favorite dog because a thorough examine was not conducted. Of Dr. Pat or Dr. Swisher were their I believe the outcome would be different

Coming from a customer that has been there for more than a decade to pets and I'm sad to say we're done with this place they still haven't figured out what customer service is and my bust for being with Alta Mesa for so long and giving him so many chances to correct that problem for anyone who goes there continued luck sad thing is they treated me like a first date customer they could care less if I was unhappy with their service and they did nothing to correct or try to change the situation that's really sad when you have that much tenure and they could care less. I find it funny that they are ill-equipped to handle any complaints and I was told to take my complaint to a national level, laughable that they are incapable of handling anything in the house

Dr fornara is truly amazing she is always there for my pets and I when I need her she's definitely the go to doctor. She's more about the animals needs than money she will put your animals needs and you first. She's all about the greatest care for your pet and you. Unfortunately my last visit wasn't the best my sweet little puppy had parvo Dr fornara did everything in her power to save him and I thank her so much for her kindness and fortunately he wasn't able to make it but she made it a lot easier knowing that she was there and her team was there to help us. My cat is diabetic and has been well controlled for several years. The doctor told me my cat was in remission and instructed me to take her off the insulin. So I trusted the doctor and stopped the insulin. My cat nearly died. I would not recommend Dr. Brown or this clinic. They obviously didn't know what they were talking about.

I took my cat here after he broke a nail from getting into a cat fight. The vet office i usually take my animals to had no openings, so I was a bit nervous about going to a different office. Let me tell you, I'm so glad I gave Alta mesa animal hospital a chance. From the moment I walked in with my cat we were treated with such kindness, the front desk staff and vet techs are very friendly and caring. I was super impressed at the fact that they have a special room just for cats, which helped my not so happy cat to have a better experience. STAY AWAY!!!!! These people don't care about your pet...they are only looking at you with dollar signs!! Bought into one of their insurance plans. If you go to use the visits, they make you wait over 1/2 hour in the examine room before they come in. They nickle and dime you for everything along the way that the very expensive plan does not cover. Don't even think about letting a "Tech" take your pet in the back out of your site. I made that mistake and the untrained so called "tech" was not able to do the procedure on my cat...listed my cat as "aggressive" in their system and when I got my cat home, took her out of the carrier I was in shock! My cat had clumps of hair hanging from her neck and the bottom of the carrier was covered with additional clumps of hair. She was traumatized from the "manhandling" that went on out of my site and hide for the rest of the day. DO NOT GO HERE..too many other places in the area that care about your pet...they DO NOT show any compassion towards your pet at all...it's all about money to them...GREED should be their motto!!!!

I give them a fair because I saw no signs of abuse. And in human medicical care I learned, the 1st rule is do no harm. Just short of abuse, lack of knowledge, concern, continuity? However the communication is very bad. From the appointment setting, thru the appointment. I asked questions, the appt setter told me things that at the appt obviously couldn:t or wouldn't be done. I know they were and are very busy, but pets/patients should suffer because of it, or pet parents. t seems all along the way no one noted anything in the computer that was discussed. The right hand didn't and doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Therefore, poor communication, extremely long time to repeat issues and recall discussions over and over. Brings to mind the expression, " the hurirader I go, the behinder I get!" DO NO HARM, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!

The veterinarians and staff at Alta Mesa are excellent! They saved my dogs life by correctly diagnosing and immediately treating an intestinal blockage that another veterinary had misdiagnosed. The staff were excellent. When your animal is sick, these are the type of people you want to help see you through it. I highly recommend Alta Mesa!

Despite my reservations after hearing from a few people that the clinic had a poor reputation floating around among some pet owners, I had to take my little 7 week male Chihuahua in and was truly stumped as to why some people had labeled it a "bad clinic" and had tried to warn me away from it! The staff was knowledgeable, accommodating (to the point of letting me, a very stressed pet owner at the time, come in half an hour before closing and being not the slightest bit rude or rushed to get us out) Their main concern was my puppy and making sure he got the care he needed and they gave me a follow up appointment for him at no charge, just to make sure his treatment was working well for him. They were gentle and patient (with both me and my pup, cause going to a vet can be scary!) and took the time to answer all of my questions to my full satisfaction so I understood everything I needed to to take care of my little one. I can not for any reason fathom why anyone would not love this place. Bonus is the prices are reasonable and they have pet plans you can get if that's more your style. They even gave us humans lollipops and a free can of high grade dog food for my little pup who was having some tummy troubles to see if that would help. Again, at no charge. Not to say I didn't have to pay for anything, obviously I did, but everything was discussed and chosen specifically for my pup's case and never did I feel forced into paying for something unnecessary like I have at other vets. I highly recommend them. They truly do treat your pet as if it is their own and genuinely care. Excellent establishment!

I have been a client of Alta Mesa Animal Hospital for over a decade now. When I first moved to Arizona, the most important thing to me in finding a Veterinarian was to find an AAHA accredited hospital (the American Animal Hospital Association has extremely high standards). Knowing this about Alta Mesa Animal Hospital made me very confident in choosing them. But, that was just the beginning. Not only are Dr. Jill Patt and Dr. Andrea Swisher highly accomplished Vets, but their warm, caring and compassionate personalities can be hard to find in today’s busy world. In fact, their staff of nurses, front office and boarding personnel all truly put my 4-legged children’s concerns first. It impresses me that their practice doesn’t have a lot of turnover. They always greet me by name and are very welcoming. I feel very comfortable with all of them and completely trust their abilities. There have been situations over the past several years where it has been necessary for them to refer me to a Specialist. Even when that has happened, they follow up to make sure all is well with my “kids”. My brood may have changed a bit over the years, but one thing that hasn’t is my confidence in Alta Mesa. So many times, people only write reviews to criticize but I believe that it’s even more important to praise when you find something you like. Alta Mesa Animal Hospital has become like family to me and I think my 7 cats and 1 dog would agree!
