I had to bring my precious dog to this clinic. Unfortunately my dog did not make it. He was already dead by the time I made it to the clinic. The staff there was so sympathetic with my situation and did not hound me down about the fees. They made payments arrangements with me and NEVER made me feel bad. I high recommended this facility because they do not just run it as a business but as family for those who have to use there services. Thank you for all that you did for my family.

I originally took my dog here because he was old and needed put to sleep. The staff treated us respectfully and with dignity. When it had been done, they gave us time to grieve and then removed him from the room so that we wouldn't feel guilty for leaving him. The process took place in a private room so that we could have quiet time with him before he left us. Now, we take our puppies there and the staff treats us like family. They love seeing the puppies any time we come in. They do well-rounded check-ups and include the necessary shots in the puppy care plan. I highly recommend this vet and we'll be taking all of our pets there from now on.

Our cat was not eating or drinking for days and we took him in to 1st pet. We wanted antibiotics and iv fluids given to him at the least. The vet said that would not be necessary and instead quickly gave us a 1000 dollar plan that could show he has cancer! Yes you read that right, could show it. Not cure anything, just diagnose. We rejected that and were immediately asked if we wanted to put him down instead... I can not convey how incompetent I consider this 1st pet to be. Don't trust this vet!

This is the place do go look no further. Our dog was taken care of and we didn't feel they were trying to overcharged us. I greatly appreciate also the time they quickly cleaned up Hachi's accident whilst I was waiting for us to be released. I felt like my Hachi boy was taken to a hospital and treated like a person. I am beyond grateful to have found them. All the staff and everyone were so amazing!

Tamica Sears

I took my dog here last year after she'd had a complication with a surgery she had someplace else and loved the way she and I were both treated. Now, this is where I go because I feel like the staff there truly care about the patients and do their absolute best to do right by them. I highly recommend.

We took our male cat in at 10pm on a Friday due to his lack of urination. Once we walked in, two staff members immediately took Tigger back for vitals. While waiting we were provided with water and snacks, which was much appreciated! Due to his condition he needed to be put under, the staff let us see him before and after the procedure, and even random visits while he was there. Everyone was so helpful and provided great care and explanation. I would highly recommend to anyone!

Really friendly staff, and it’s nice that they give you pricing/estimates before doing anything.

As always, everything was excellent!!

What a great group of professionals. My Golden Retriever had a bleeding wound on her toe which the team identified it needed to be surgically removed. Everything happened very quickly and ever so efficiently, with comfort of my pup and I as top priority. My fur baby was back in surgery within 20 minutes, out and home in less than 2 hours. Paperwork was detailed with what was done and what to expect, and I received a follow up check in call to see how Daisy was doing. This all made me feel more confident in supporting the at-home care my pup needed. I have been with 1st Prt for years and will conintue for life. My daughter now has a Chocolate Lab pup and takes her to 1st Pet as well! Thank you all for your love and care for our Fur Babies!

Jo Morrow

The staff is very caring and thorough! They took great care of our pup. Without them our lilo wouldn't be here today!

I REFUSE to ever allow them to negligently care or advise me on the care of my animals again. I was sold a severly sick pup. Absolutely skin and bones (our new vet diagnosed her with Giardia, eye infections, wound on her gums, severally dehydrated, violent diarrhea and vomitting, in shock and hyperglycemic) and was told by Dr. Shannon Kafer (EXACT WORDS) "She actually doesnt look that bad". She is a 10-12 week old supposive lab that weighs 4.26lbs and had stopped eating and drinking on her own for over 24 hours. Completely disregarded my feelings and concerns and charged me $423 for absolutely NO HELP, no medicine, no antibiotics, NOTHING. I TOLD HER this was Giardia as I had a dog years ago that had it and she completely disregarded my concern. Its sad that Im not a vet and could easily tell what my dog had. The next day I called and told them she is still not eating or drinking. They suggested I force feed her baby food and pedialyte. Just FYI BABY FOOD DOES NOT CONTAIN ENOUGH CALORIES TO KEEP YOUR PUPPY'S BODY MAINTAINING. Brought her back 2 days later (I brought her in Monday and the second visit was on Wednesday) because nothing had changed and a vet didnt even come in my room to speak to me. After DEMANDING medicine and treatment they tried to charge me another $400 for things that should have been done the very first time I brought her in. Turns out my pup had Giardia. I ended up walking out and taking my pup to another vet. That vet could not believe that 1st Pet (Chandler location) did nothing as she was in critical condition. They didnt even bother emailing the vet record to Scottsdale Hills Animal Hospital as requested by both myself and our new vet. My pup is now on IV fluids every 12 hours, mediciation for vomitting, medication for Giardia and a possible feeding tube soon. Not that bad of condition Dr. Kafer? Thanks to my new vet I can say my pup is still alive. I have no doubts in my mind that my puppy would be DEAD if I kept going to 1st Pet. And thanks to their negligence my pup could still die due to lack of quicker care in which I will take her to court as she did not do her job if that happens. No one should have to pay for someone to NOT do their job. YOU FAILED MY DOG. YOU FAILED AS A VET. Im curious to know what cracker jack box you recieved your degree from. Negligence and dismissal could have KILLED my pup. Thanks for nothing and thanks for draining my bank account.

Two nights ago I visited this hospital with my two beautiful babies. The time had come for them to cross the unavoidable rainbow bridge. Without the care, sympathy, and love of these living angels, I don’t believe I could have gotten through it. Sophia is a gift that was sent to me that night. She cried with me, walked me through the steps, and held me as I sobbed. I could go on and on but I wanted to write this review, through the tears, for two reasons: for the public to know that this is an amazingly caring facility; and for the staff to know how much I truly appreciate what they do day in and day out. Thank you so much for allowing me to give my dogs the dignity and grace that all living beings deserve. You are a true blessing. Brenda Narveson Forever Mommy of Rusty & Riley ❤️❤️

This was our first visit to a 1st Pet Veterinary Centers and we cannot thank the caring and knowledgeable staff and veterinarians at 1st Pet enough for saving our pet life and her puppy's life too. The veterinarians at 1st Pet knew exactly what needed to be done, they quickly advised us of the procedures needed to save our pets life and provided an estimate. We were a bit apprehensive but the staff and veterinarians made us feel at home and like part of the 1st Pet family. The entire staff and veterinarians at 1st Pet are awesome and caring people. 1st Pet saved our pets life and the fee's we were billed were lower than the estimate provided.

Tanner Comes

1st pet has taken wonderful care of us in two emergencies. The staff are understanding, compassionate, and professional.

Colene B

The staff was amazing on the phone and when we arrived. My dog was attacked by another dog and they were the only emergency vet open in our area. Even though they were super busy they took great care of us and my dog. The inside is beautiful, clean, and professional. This is the only location I will be visiting for my animal’s needs. Thanks for all your help xx

Joe Pena

Have received very professional and supportive care from the staff towards myself and my pets. The facility is very nice and clean.

kat Dee

Very compassionate and friendly staff. Came in with the realization I may be there to say goodbye to my pet and everyone there was so wonderful to my family. Thankfully our baby came home and we have more time, but it was nice knowing when that time does come we are surrounded by people who care and are understanding. Thanks for saving my little Chubbers :)

The absolute last place I will being my dog, completely skipped a physical exam and jumped to an xray. Front desk no absolutely nothing about any of their payment plan providers. Service was horrible, wait time was horrible.

A neuter clinic botched my bunny's surgery, but they were closed shortly after I left. The after care form advised to contact 1st Pet, so I went, as it was fairly close to me. Due to an honest miscommunication over the phone, I arrived to learn that they DO NOT treat rabbits. They were kind enough to at least visually examine the bunny while I got in touch with my regular vet, and they were extremely compassionate, understanding and treated my bunny like treasure. They made sure he was comfortable, gave me water, took time to help him as best as they could and even walked out to my car with me. It was a horrible, horrible day but their compassionate was very much appreciated. Heather in particular, was very sweet. All of the ladies up front seemed very hard working and attentive, and they all deserve a raise. I am sad that they do not take rabbits, otherwise I would always go there. Thanks everyone, Gary is feeling much better :)

I have taken my two year old dog here for two emergency situations and I had a fair experience. Recently I got a new puppy who was only a pound and a half. She struggled to keep her sugar levels high and would get scarily lethargic. After my first visit I felt confident with the help I received. However, I had to bring her back in the middle of the night. They were able to stabilize her, but overall didn’t do anything to find out the cause. There was no outside the box thinking at all - instead they suggested euthanasia. That was one word more than enough for me to take my dog to another er vet. There they found the real reason she was ill - parasite and ear mites. Trust your gut and beware when heading here!

Kelly Shepherd

My boyfriend and I knew it was time for our old lady Sophie to finally rest. We came in the wee hours of the morning thankful that they were open. The staff was very respectful and sensitive to our needs during our first pet loss. Thank you again for everything. <3

Stay away at all costs. I should have read the poor reviews first. 1st Pet employees have a hostility towards clients. It's as if they don't want to be there or even love animals. Their comments are rude and don't you dare question them or else....snarky comments are through your entire visit. After $1,000 and 3 hours I found out they are a profit center for pets. Their vet wasn't great. Mediocre at best compared to other clinics I've been to. They loaded my dog with antibiotics and I didn't want that done. I couldn't see my dog for over an hour which is unacceptable. They didnt come explain what was going on through the visit. I had to ask people to go grab the vet. They gave me my pets x-rays on a disc. Who uses disc's anymore? I asked for PDF's in an email and I'm surprised they didn't charge me for the request. My experience was not positive. They were not nice. They rack up the charges. I hate leaving bad reviews. But this company shouldn't be in business in my opinion. Stay away unless you want the same experience. Just stay away until they learn.

Great place. Helped my dog . very nice and wonderful people here. Definetly recommend.

Susanna Brescia

Was very impressed by this office, and extremely grateful for all they did for my cat and myself. If you are having an animal emergency, this is where you need to go. They take exceptional care of the pet, and they make an effort to take care of the human too. The human treat basket in particular was a nice gesture, and a very welcome comfort. It is also worth mentioning how kind, helpful, and patient everyone (from the receptionists to the technicians to the doctor) was, despite it being a very busy Saturday night.

Meghan Lorentz

We recently had to say good bye to a beloved pet. The staff was amazing, very kind and patient. Someone sat with my children who did not want to be in the room, while I wanted to stay with our beloved dog. It was such a sad and heartbreaking time, and the staff went out of their way to help us, allowing us our tears and grief. Amazing compassion.

Michelle Fries

I highly recommend 1st Pet Veterinary to anyone whose pet has an emergent need! The staff was very friendly and loving to my sweet dog when she was scared. I absolutely loved the veterinarian who cared for my dog as she was extremely knowledgeable, thorough and loving. I wish she had her own practice so I could take my dog to her in a non-emergent situation. I definitely recommend receiving services from here and would take my dog back here in a heartbeat.

Earleen Winters

Dr. B and her staff are the bomb!

Paul Bick

I have been to this location twice, once an emergency visit with my neighbor and her dog, and now with one of my pets, a cat. Both times I was very impressed with the courtesy, efficiency and professionalism on the part of all staff, from the front desk, to the technical support, to the veterinarians. I have been in the pet care industry for over 20 years and have had contact with many veterinary clinics. I would rate this as one of the best for overall service. Thank all of you for your help.

Aventerra01

We had a 16+ year old cat that was dying and because of his deteriorating appearance, some nurse or vet tried to refuse him. My mother had to straight up ask her "Where else am I going to take him? He's at the end of his life" Eventually this staff caved in and said she'll put him down but apparently that's not something they do. Yknow what, this was hard for our family too.Where are we supposed to take our dying pets? He was suffering.

Melanie Van Kort

I was very impressed with my entire experience at 1st Pet! My dog had been hit by a car, and my vet was open but no doctors were available to see her. So we brought her to 1st Pet. Everyone was kind and caring and did their best to give her prompt treatment, even with other more critical cases they were also managing. If I lived closer, I would probably change vets and bring all my pets here!

Mary Ann Schilling

Caring and Compassionate staff and doctors. Always want the best for the animal.

Kimberly MacFadyen

First Pet is a special Veterinary Clinic to visit with you dog or cat. Our experience has always been positive with very friendly & helpful staff. After going for some time now, (due to a long term illness of our pet) we have gotten to know the employees and it is great when they have a few minutes to visit or catch up from the last appointment. Dr. Babyak is friendly & kind. She has been managing our dog's condition well & does what is needed to keep us on track. Offering snacks or drinks while waiting is also appreciated & nice for emergency visits for those who arrive unexpectedly. We highly recommend this office for anyone who has an ill pet or needs regular care!

Rebeca DiPuccio

Moved from Gilbert and left a favorite vet. Found my new place! It’s clean, friendly staff, thorough vets, and priced reasonably. My Goldendoodle is happy here.

plumfair1

Everyone at 1st Pet is exceptional from front staff to all the vets, assistants. It is a pleasure bringing our two dogs to them. Keep up the excellent work.

Linda L Bauer

Very Friendly and knowledge staff. You can tell they love animals. I do live 30 miles away, but will make them my regular vet

Jay Fritz

Highly recommend 1st Pet! Brought out sick pup in and immediately got seen. They were upfront with their exam and expectations of cost. The people were extremely nice, comforting, and understanding during our visit. A great experience is in the details. They even provided water, snacks, and tissues to ease the wait. Highly appreciate it when a company goes the extra mile to make their customers feel appreciated.

Vincent Pecoraro

The facility is really nice and the employees are kind. You don't want to be there but they make it OK.

danismad75

All staff were so understanding of my dog having a reactive personality. They were also understanding of his fear of strangers and need for muzzle and lots of treats. They treated him so well and both my dog and I really appreciate that. The doctor let me lift his lips for the dental inspection-that relieved both mine and my dogs stress. Thank you!

Danielle Ventura

I took my 10 week old puppy here for her first visit with a vet. I’ve never seen a more modern and clean veterinary center. Staff was extremely welcoming to my pup and for my first visit as a dog mom I too was put at ease. The exam rooms are clean and comfortable. Everything was explained to me throughout the process. I definitely trust this location and will be back for her next round of shots!

Krysta Smith

This was our first visit to 1st Pet Veterinary Centers and we cannot thank the caring and knowledgeable staff and veterinarians enough. We were immediately taken to an exam room. The doctor was great and very caring. She took time to do a thorough examination and explained everything that was going on. Even though our visit did not a happy ending, everyone was very comforting, patient, and truly did everything they could. The staff at 3AM couldn’t have been better, thank you. I highly recommend 1st Pet.

jewel rivera

This is by far the best vet I have been too. The staff was beyond helpful. They were kind and caring to both me and my dog Harlie. I was offered water and snacks which was a plus

Dorothy Galiger

Shadow really wasn't feeling well but couldn't put our finger on the exact cause. The staff did an excellent job of looking at many options.

Carolyn Elson

More like a 10 star experience. Professional and friendly. Best animal hospital in the Valley.

Mackenzie Keck

The wait to see the doctor was over three hours. The front desk staff checked in on me once in those three hours. But after that I was not given an update as to how long it would be. It cause for a long night with my dog and she was without water or bathroom opportunities throughout that time. They were very kind though when they did come in. I understand that there were more critical cases that came in after me, but a check in or update would have been nice It was a bit pricey, more than I planned on, but they were able to come up with a diagnosis quickly once they got to me. They tell you everything upfront price wise before they start anything and give you the option to choose what the next steps are. I would definitely go back.

Mary Cole

I was impressed with the whole environment from the front of the house to the back. Our pet was evaluated by a tech so quickly, professionally and so well trained as to pick up a heart murmur in our pet immediately!. Even the little touches of offering snacks and water as we waited and giving use regular updates and costs. And to top it off when we picked our dog up the next morning the total cost was significantly less than the low end of the quote, speaks to integrity and trustworthiness.. I was fully expecting to pay more than the quote and would of been happy to do so after their staff saved our pet. I have not had a very good experience at another Emergency Vet Hospital closer to home in the past, I was dreading dealing with them, so grateful we found 1st Pet. As a former Vet Tech for many year working in animal welfare and private practice I would not hesitate to recommend 1st Pet. I hope I never have to use an emergency clinic but if we have another emergency we won't think twice about where to go.

Ryan bisson

Great team of professionals in a very clean and friendly environment. I felt like my puppy and I received phenomenal care!

Mackenzie N

Wonderful place that took great care of my baby. It was time consuming, but it was expected for an ER visit. Thought the prices were very reasonable. Staff is great and welcoming. Made me and my pup feel very comfortable and cared for especially under the circumstances. I’m even considering coming here for regular veterinary services.

Cody Rael

The ladies at the front and all the assistants were great. Very friendly and compassionate. The doc....not so much. She wasn't disrespectful at all, she didn't talk down to me, but she made me feel like I was wasting her time. My other dog died suddenly 2 days ago, which they knew. And after spending 125 on just the exam for no answers, I needed someone to listen to me and just answer my questions. I needed peace of mind. She wasn't helpful. I wasn't going to haggle over price or payment....I understand Vet care is expensive and if they saved every pet without collecting money, there would be no Vets. But, that wasn't a factor. I wanted to make an educated decision for a 13 year old dog. I needed to be able to warrant dropping hundreds more, and I didn't feel like I got my money's worth so I passed on the tests and took him home in horrible shape. I was positive he would die too because he displayed the same symptoms. It seemed to be a toxin. But I took him to another vet today and they were great. The doctor answered all the questions I have. Some redundant....it didn't matter to her. And Diego is alive and well. They saved him. I live alone with just my dogs, so they mean the world to me. I expected better, especially since I was still reeling from my 15 year old AnnaBelle suddenly dying. The doc didn't cause my dogs issue, she didn't make it worse, and she didn't dismiss me off hand....I don't wanna be too harsh, because I respect what she does....but I needed a little more compassion. I probably would have done the tests at that moment if I felt she cared. The prices for emergency/triage type care is always going to be expensive, but bedside manner is just as important to me as her talent as a doctor.

Colleen

At my visit, Dr. Keaner harshly told me that it would be hours before my pet could receive attention, as there were more important animals currently at the clinic (I wasn't even confrontational. I was frightened because I was worried about my pet- I was taken aback at how unkind she was). I left my pet at the clinic, hoping that she was in good hands, and hoping that she would be tended to if needed. Although a thorough diagnostic assessment was performed on my pet, there was NO offer for any kind of treatment. No IV fluids, no anti-nausea medication. Nothing. $1000 later, I left the clinic with a dehydrated and stressed pet, and very confusing instructions as how to care for her. I did my best, and administered subQ fluids as instructed, this however did not help with my pet's dehydration, as her conditioned worsened to lethargy, vomiting, and unresponsiveness. I called the clinic for help, and there wasn't a tech or a doctor who could take my call. I then rushed my pet to AVECCC where she was assessed immediately and a treatment plan was put in place. She was given anti-nausea medication and IV fluids and stayed overnight where her kidney levels were monitored appropriately. I feel that I put my pet's life in danger by taking her to 1st Pet. I am livid and horrified that I subjected my pet to this kind of treatment.

Get here after my pet eats a toad, they were concerned but then end up waiting in a exam room for about an hour waiting on them to come back with no one coming to tell us sorry about the wait

One of the worst experiences ever. Took our bulldog at about 11pm. She was falling over and acting like she was in a lot of pain. Long story short she had a severe ear infection. Dr gave antibiotics but no pain meds. We have been through this before with remi and were told ear infections in dogs are extremely painful. The vet said remi was in no pain since she could touch her ear. She refuses to give her anything for pain. Got home about 2:30am. About 9 hours later we had to rush remi to another emergency room because she was barley breathing, gums were white, and she got a cherry eye. We took her to the Arizona critical care and emergency off Gilbert and Javelina. Vet said remi had 2 severe ear infections. The reason she was barley breathing and her eye did what it did was because she was in so much pain and stress she was in shock and her body was shutting down. They gave her a shot for pain and anxiety. They got her stable and were great. From the front staff to the doctor they were all awesome. The vet said dogs ears are so close to the CNS and a ear infection can hurt like a human breaking their femur bone. Sent her home with pain meds, anti anxiety to keep her calm, and antibiotics. 4 days later our remi is doing much better and her eye is back to normal. Shows how much stress the dog was in. I do not recommend this emergency vet, at leased the one in chandler. The vet had no care in the world and would not listen to a thing my wife said, as if he were on a search for meds. It’s midnight and you can see my dog is in bad shape, give me a break!! Smh. DO NOT USE first vet chandler!!

Brian Patrick

This place is awesome. Very friendly service and they really care about your pet. Thank you for taking care of Gucci and sending the card. He will be missed. You guys rock!

Steve Garvy

Called because my dog started having seizures. When I arrived they made my dog and I extremely comfortable and triaged him right away. He had another grand mal seizure there and they immediately took action. Exceptional interpersonal skills. They kept me appraised every few minutes even with other emergencies. They told me about the courses of treatment and costs and gave me time to consider the costs, etc. without pressure. The entire staff, including Nathan and Dr Moentk are outstanding and world-class professionals. Exceptionally clean and professional facility. Would highly reccomend in the unfortunate event you and your pet require emegency services. As a follow up, we had to put our dog down today. The entire staff could not have been more empathetic, conciencious, humane and gentle. Treated us and our dog as if he were their own. They made the most painful experience for our family, including our teenage daughters, peaceful, calming and reassuring. Would continue to recommend. Truly world class.

Laurie Sturdy

This is the best veterinarian office I've been to!!! I was from out of town, my corgi was having issues so I brought Penelope to them. They were fantastic.....caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. Due to the nature of the visit when I checked out they declined any payment!!! Instead I bought my local animal shelter a case of dog food and toys. Simply amazing staff

Karen Horn

Our experience at 1st Pet was wonderful. We arrived feeling very anxious and found the staff to be caring and compassionate. Our questions and concerns were addressed promptly and we left feeling confident we had a correct diagnoses and treatment plan. Thanks to their staff for being kind and reassuring.

Crystal Hockenhull

I have used 1st Pet several times and have never found anything that could be done differently. One visit I had a very difficult decision to make, they were kind, supportive & non-judgmental. I live 45 minutes away, I drive that distance just to use 1st Pet because they are so far superior to my local vets.

Steph Tellier

I had a great experience. It's the first time I had to use emergency services and overall I really couldn't have asked for more pleasant staff, tech and vet! Plus im happy to say that the meds my dog received are already working wonderfully and he's almost back to his normal spunky self! Thank you!!!!

Angelica Perea

This place was so great. Not only did they make us feel welcomed but also my baby boy who was hurt. He was so scared and nervous. But after they interacted with him, he got so excited. The doctor was very helpful in explaining what had happen to my pet and went into detail to explain his situation. I would continue to come here for further treatments in future.

mike savino

Ours was an emergency visit and we found that the ALL the staff was attentive to us and our Yorkie right away. This was greatly appreciated. The tech addressed us promptly asked about the issues and discussed with the Dr. who only after a few minutes came into the exam room to check our dog and described what was likely the problem and made recommendations and provided a solution. Those solution meds were over the counter to save us $$. That was appreciated. We are now considering having this chandler AZ location be our go-to dog care facility. Thanks to you all there, our little Yorkie is doing much better.

Joshua Malcolm

Will tell you the worst things you want to hear so you spend more money! !!CAUTION!! Really wish I would have read more up on them before even going here! Went in for a routing checkup, shots, blood work since pet is older. Well first thing they do is call late at night to say they need to do more tests, they think my pet may have something. Well what does any pet owner do, drop everything and get the tests done just like you would for your child! Long story short, after a week of being extremely sad and depressed and stressed out, they finally call me back and say that everything is fine. Upon looking into the testing they said they “needed” to do and what they were supposedly testing for, the secondary tests were not needed or necessary at all. They could have restarted the originally samples they took, but this place just wants your money by any means necessary!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE UNLESS THERE IS NO OTHWR OPTIONS!!!

Carey

Great place! Sent me cards for my loss of my beloved dog Snoop. His last few minutes were felt with compassion and love. Won't forget it. Thank you for being there for me.

Sarah Cavanaugh

At around 10 at night, my dog had what looked like a seizure. My parents and I rushed him to 1st Pet and the woman who checked us in was incredibly kind and compassionate, even though I'm sure I was a huge mess. They took him to back and kept an eye on him while we waited and they offered us water and snacks. We never did get around to actually talking with the vet, since they had an emergency come in and we had to go home since my parents had to get up early in the morning. But they kept an eye on my dog for two and half hours to make sure he didn't have another seizure and made sure to give me an update on him when they could. Since we had to leave before seeing the vet, they didn't charge us and I really appreciate the fact that they watched over my best friend for free, especially since I'm a student. I would give this clinic more than 5 stars if I could. ❤️

Darleen Gee

Thanks to you my 10 year old rascally cat, Leo, has a new lease on life! He improves each day...........Leo

Samantha Sobczak

Everyone at this place was so caring and friendly. I found out my only option was to let my poor sweet cat go. They were all very kind and supportive while I was there. A few days later I received her paw prints along with a sweet little card that everyone in the office signed. Everyone there is amazing. Thank you so much for everything.

Melissa Rush

We used this facility on an emergency basis previously and was happy. Now I am not confident in my normal vet care facility so I called to schedule a visit here. I was told they would NOT see me on. “Normal” care visit because they want to keep a good relationship with the other vets office. Of course they could see me on an emergency basis and charge me emergency fees!!!!! I am so appalled by their lack of care for us and our pet. All they care about is getting more referrals from the vets office. Well, now they will get bad reviews and never a referral from us and hopefully our friends!!!

Joe Weirather

I've been to this location several times. The thoughtfulness and professionalism I've experienced are second to none; standard bearers for the industry. I wish I could return to everybody there the same peace of mind they give to me, just knowing that they're there, 24/7. I do need to note that it is an emergency center, and wait times can vary widely based on demand/triage. Be prepared to wait your turn. They'll get to you as soon as they can, and give you the best they have to offer.

Tammy Schumacher

We had a very good experience with the staff and the Doctor. We would recommend them to our family and friends.

Brittney Cook

Highly recommend. My pup got a rattlesnake bite and the team was fabulous to work with. They provided me with several different options that were cost effective and reviewed everything with me in great detail. We were able to find an option that helped my pup who is doing very well!

I have been taking my dogs here since they were puppies, both for emergency and non emergency visits. Lately however, with what we have experienced here, I will never bring my animals to 1st Pet EVER again. Their complete disregard for the lives of animals is appalling. Do NOT expect for them to do anything or care about your pet at all. Except they will charge you for everything they can. Over the past 4 years I have spent close to $20,000 at 1st Pet. Recently I made an appointment for my 4 year old dog who had been lethargic, losing weight rapidly, trembling, etc. but when we arrived for the appointment they let me know that they had accidentally scheduled the appointment for the wrong location. I had only ever been to their Chandler location but they scheduled it for the Mesa location. They said I could wait on an emergency basis but it would be a really long time if I waited. So I scheduled another appointment for the next night and went home. The next night, the vet who saw us didn’t run any tests, THEY DIDN’T EVEN TAKE HER TEMPERATURE. They have never had ANY issues with my dog and she is not aggressive. They prescribed medication for my dog based on what it could possibly be, scheduled an appointment for a week later to run the tests she needed and then sent us home. We were the last appointment of the night and the vet seemed very keen on rushing us out the door. Running tests that my dog desperately needed ASAP was the last thing on the vets mind that night. The vet even said that my dog’s symptoms were very worrisome and serious. A couple of days later, when my dog got even worse, I took her back to the Chandler 1st Pet location on an emergency basis. Waited about 2 1/2 hours there before going home without being seen by a vet because they told us it would be multiple more hours before a vet would see us. They made it very clear that my dog was not a priority at all. Overnight she got even worse and I took her to the Arizona Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Center in Gilbert the next morning. They saw her RIGHT AWAY and within 1 HOUR of being there she was getting X-Rays and bloodwork done. I will NEVER take any animal to 1st Pet ever again or refer anyone to them. It makes me sick how completely INCOMPETENT and NEGLIGENT they are.

My 12 week old kitten had gotten a bad random infection at her spay-site - it was a Saturday so I could not take her to my regular vet. I had taken my black-lab here several years ago in the middle of the night when his back legs suddenly stopped working (he's better - ripe old age of 11 now). The staff got us in and seen quickly - the vets both times were very caring and helpful. My kitten is still in her 'cone of shame' so she doesn't pick at her stitches but the emergency surgery to remove the infection went well - she's through her course of antibiotics and she's doing great. Don't love needing to go to this place but definitely love this place.

Great service and friendly staff. We went on a Saturday morning and there was a long wait time but the technician kept us updated about the wait time and frequently checked on us. They provided snacks and plenty water for us during our visit. Once our little guy was seen by the Dr., she was great and told us exactly what was wrong and everything we needed to do. I’d definitely recommend 1st Pet!

Michelle Pollard

My Boxer had to have her eye looked at on a Sunday. We were in the room in less than 1 minute and the wait time was much shorter than anticipated. The room was clean and pet friendly and the staff was amazing!! Thank you so much!

Marlene Carlsgaard

The Staff and Doctors took excellent care of my sick cat on an emergency visit will kindness and understand. She is on her way to recovery and health.

Very nice place and everyone was very caring. They allowed me to stay with my fur baby as long as I needed to to say my goodbye to Layla. They didn't rush me before or after Thank you for the comfort and my crying mess.RIP my baby girl.and thank you for the card and her paw print I recived today. It really means allot.

John Ehlenbeck

I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else, especially in an emergency situation. Truly amazing people, and the all-around care for you and your pet are excellent. Thank you!

Angelica Zurita

This place was amazing! I brought my pit bull in at 8:00 at night and we did wait awhile, but it was defiantly worth it. we got done at 10:00 at night but, they made sure me and my dog were comfortable and really listened to me. They gave me a complimentary snack basket to munch on while we waited and gave my dog treats while they were examining him. It was very satisfying and thoughtful. The facility its self is beautiful and clean. I highly recommend you take your pet hear for any emergency. The staff and everyone was very polite and just awesome! Thank you from me and my Buster Boi :))

Dr Mumaw and tech Amber are always attentive, caring, and compassionate when caring for my babies for their appointments. Dr Mumaw listens well to my concerns, always explains her exam findings, recommends treatments, and next step actions.

Michael Davis

This was the best service I have ever received anywhere!

Leigha Ritchie

My dog got a bone stuck in its mouth so we came here and they were very quick and super nice. Probably didn't take more than 15 minutes! It was our first time ever coming here since our vet wasn't open, and we will definitely be back.

Sandra Jeffries

1st Pet has been my vet for almost 20 years. Compassionate, understanding, knowledgeable all come to mind when I think of them.

Gina Delgado

Very kind and good with pets. Made my ER visit less stressed and price was good.

Jacqueline Adamson

Very pleased with Molly's treatment by Dr. Robin. All staff were very helpful, especially with getting an appointment ASAP.

lisamariefilkins

How awesome is Shantel, the Vet Tech who took care of my puppy?!?! She was, by far, the most amazing and helpful person I have encountered at a animal hospital. Please, I implore you, take your precious pets to 1st Pet Vet Animal Hospital! Well worth the visit!

Clint Davis

Second time I had to walk out of clinic with my pet. Don't waste your time or money. First visit waited 40 minutes with no contact. This second visit my pet had laceration and punctures from dog bite. Two emergencies came in and they put my pet in a hold pattern. My dog had a gut puncture. That can be extremely serious. Over priced and under performance.

Krista Crump

Dr. Nicholson listened to and addressed all of my concerns about Mac. She provided superior care to not only my dog, but to me as I was extremely anxious about my concerns. She took in to account my busy schedule and provided me a plan that was both best for Mac and evidence based medicine. Her documentation was thorough and included everything we talked about in our visit. It was the last appointment of the day, but I felt like I have never been cared for at such a high level. All of the techs were amazing as well!!! Such a good experience!!!!

My beloved cat Sebastian suddenly became ill. I had all three of my kids with me including my new born baby. My daughter commented on being hungry and they quickly provide both kids with snack baskets filled with snacks and drinks. They quickly got us into a private room and Sebastian was immediately cared for. They attempted to keep costs low so that Sebastian could stay in the hospital longer and receive the care he needed. While in hospital they provided regular updates. Overall they saved my cats life and also helped make a very stressful situation a little less stressful.

Connie Wilson

HORRIBLE place. Brought my beloved pet here to fix a broken bone. They messed up his cast and wouldn't fix it without another me paying more money. I went in and didn't receive services because the wait was too long. They called the next day and said I OWED $120 for my "visit." They pretend to be nice but the moment they mess up it's your fault and they do not rectify the situation.

Samantha N.B.

I just adopted my cat from a rescue this last week but I was unsure about her records so I brought her in. I don’t think she’s ever been to the vet before. The staff has been AMAZING. They’re so calming and not pushy. I know the cost out the door before they do anything. To think I was more nervous than Felicity was. Lol silly me. I know my cat is in such amazing hands while she’s here! Highly recommend!! And STRONGLY recommend you make an appointment. I’ve seen on other reviews that they had to wait. I made an appointment and they got me in a room the second I got through the door.

This place is armed robbery. Money WILL BE the difference between life and death of your pet. I went there with a very sick puppy, the vet Dr Keaner came in and was very impersonal and cold. She recommended in house hospitalization for two days. They quote me around $ 3300; this is $ $1500 per day!!! The other option they gave me was euthanasia. I don't know if this just me, but I think this price is outrageous!!! I was devastated thinking that money will make the difference between life and death of my tinny friend. My puppy was sick, but he was still fighting, it was offensive they even suggested euthanasia. Luckily my husband asked for an alternative treatment at home. Which they were not very excited about. The vet never returned, but she sent the assistant with a bill close to $ 500 for doing a parvo test and injecting the dog 200 ml saline solution. They send us home with an Amoxicillin, a tube with probiotic paste, nausea pill and a folder that included 2 info sheet about hypothermia and giardia. Next day I went to another vet, who told me it was the wrong medicine. Called the office, waited for 26 min to talk to the vet who was rude and told me she never gave me a diagnosis, and that the sheets added to the folder where just informative. Dr. Keaner said that if did not agree with her treatment to follow the other vet advise and hung up on me. Another vet took care of my puppy for three days, and he is a happy little one now. In my opinion, they do not care about the pet they are just there for the money. I DO NOT recommend this place.

Deanna Schaffino

caring and concerned staff. new waiting area makes you feel at home in a very stressful situation. thank you for helping out our pup.

Maria Polyakova

I just called them for general advice about a tick I found on my dog, and the girl that answered my call was so caring and sweet and provided me a solution right away, even at almost 1 in the morning! Thank you guys for allowing me to sleep tonight knowing my dog will be okay I just have a little work to do on my end! My dog is not a “patient” here but she will be now! Thank you so much again!

We recently had to take our 15 1/2 year old wiener dog here as he suddenly became very sick. On our first visit they rehydrated him as he was vomiting and he had become dehydrated. We took him home and about 10 hours later we had to bring him back as he quit eating and was becoming sluggish. Tests were run and he had a few problems with his liver and heart. They gave him some medications and an appetite stimulant in the hopes that it would help. As it turned out it didn’t. We had to bring him back that evening as he was going down hill. We had to say good bye to our long time companion. It was the hardest thing my wife and I have ever had to do.. I am tearing up writing this. The staff was so understanding and thoughtful. We received a card in the mail with everyone’s signature on it. Thank you 1rst pet staff we will always be great full to you kindness and understanding.

Stephanie Green

Recommend highly. We’d given our dog Dottie a sedative (with a prescription) for fireworks fear and tonight was our test run. When Dottie’s gums turned pale, we decided to take her in - better safe than sorry. The staff were friendly and responsive. We had a triage vet tech out to look at Dottie within less than a minute for a quick once-over to check her heart rate and overall condition. After another few minutes, another vet tech came out to look at Dottie and assess her condition. Her advice was that she seemed fine and we could take her home and just keep an eye on our pupper. All of this took a total of maybe ten minutes to assess Dottie’s condition and give me major peace of mind. Everyone was courteous and professional and it was clear they knew their stuff. We ended up not needing a doctor, but I’m sure they’re of similar high quality. If we need an emergency vet again (knock on wood), this is where we’ll go.

My dog had been vomiting and having diarrhea for days. He started getting worse at night so we brought him in around 8:30pm. Almost five hours later I walked out because a doctor still had not examined my dog. I get that they triage pets, but at some point mine needs to be seen too. Also, the staff only communicated with us once about the delay, and only then because a doctor accidentally walked into our exam room. Won't be coming back for any reason.

ArizGirl 2001

Gatsby & I love kind-hearted Dr. Joyner, and all the great staff there (& he's feeling better already!

Marisa Herrera

WARNING!!! DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE!!! All they want is your money they do not care for your animal! If I could give zero stars I would!! After being charged $300 and waiting 3 hours for a 5 second meeting with the vet, getting no help for my puppy. I’m so glad I found Baseline Animal Clinic it’s a fraction of what I paid here and they were more than helpful!!

Joseph DePinto

I'm very happy with 1st Pet. My dogs and cat get excellent care. I would like to see some sort of discount for regular customers who do not shop around for the least expensive veterinary care for their pets. I know that I can find a vet that is closer to my house that has less expensive fees but I like the idea of a one-stop practice for primary care and emergency care. It would be nice to receive a discount for being a loyal customer.

Diane Cecena

Our little family member, Oscar, got seriously ill this last Monday. My husband and I brought him to this facility and from the moment we walked in he had immediate attention and love. The staff was amazing and helped so much by making sure we had all the information we needed to make a decision for our precious 15 year old boy. It is not easy because they can't speak for themselves. All the staff we had the pleasure to work with that night was wonderful. We Thank you for making a difficult situation easier.

Chris Redfield

Maybe in the future the staff could give an estimate of time of when we will be seen, but we were good patients with patience. :-) Otherwise when the doctor came in, it was a good experience. Everyone was very attentive when they were in the exam room with us. Also the front desk staff are amazing! Thank you!

Kayte Kay

Office is attractive. Vet - the important factor - and techs were so-so. They seemed... Inexperienced. All of them. Techs had no opinions and were uncertain about everything. Vet seemed to have only opinions from textbooks rather than personal experience. I'm glad they were there to treat my dog's allergic reaction and I'm also glad it wasn't something requiring surgery. Maybe I'd have been given a more experienced vet if it was more serious... Who knows. As it was, I wouldn't let the people who provided our emergency care that night provide any important services or regular care.

Ernesto L. Abeytia

Terrible experience. Went in with a vomiting puppy covered in hives and were told it's a simple allergic reaction to the food we're giving her. After two shots, the hives went down but the vomiting has continued. We tried explaining that our pup gets bad allergies but has never vomited, so this was clearly unusual and must be something else. Nope. The doctor insisted it was allergies from the food and told us to try Pepcid AC to help with the vomiting. Called back and they want more $$$ to see our pup again despite not getting it right the first time and not listening to us about the vomiting being something more severe than the allergies. We only came here because our vet was closed and suggested this place. I'm beyond frustrated with this place and will definitely tell my vet not to recommend them again.

Cecilia Pauls

Excellent care! The staff was very caring and accommodating to my pet’s needs. Would highly recommend and will be going there for normal pet care.

Kasey Farley

Love this office. Great customer service for both humans and pets. You can tell they really love and care for the animals they see. Very clean and the snack baskets are amazing!! They go above and beyond

Taylee Arnold

My dog died because of them. I took him in for a dime sized bump that I found on his side. They ran tests and came back with an answer for what it was. A mass cell tumor. They said it had to be removed, but all they wanted to do was run more tests. Every two weeks I was in there spending upwards of 500 on more and more tests, while the tumor just kept getting bigger and bigger. I saw three vets, two on an emergency basis, because I was concerned with how fast it was growing, and all they did was send me home with pain meds for him. The last time I took him in was when the tumor had burst, and all they did was recommend me to go to another emergency center, because the only one who could remove the tumor was on vacation. Don't get me wrong, the assistants were nice, but that doesn't change the fact that no one wanted to help my baby. When I finally took him to the other place they recommended, it was to late. The tumor had cause a chain reaction in his body that just made his system start to shut down. Within an hour I had to say goodbye to him. I'm so upset by the fact that these people knew this thing had to be removed and not a one of them wanted to touch it. My baby could've still been alive had they cared to do what should've been done in the first place and taken care of it when it was smaller, instead of telling me that they needed more tests. I wish I could add a picture of him on to here so they know exactly who they took from me. I will be telling everyone I know with fur babies to never go here.

Jessyca Hernandez

This vet has never disappointed me. All of their staff are very nice their doctors and nurses listen to you and care about your fur babies. I also love the fact that they are a 24/7 facility incase of an emergency. They're pet plans are Extremely helpful in Keeping your babies health on track. I highly recommend them.

Monica Savard

Considering we had to put my baby down, everything and everyone at the facility was good

Ashlie Miskinnis

This place saved my cat's life. I seriously cannot thank them enough. He wasn't even a year old at the time. He kept getting urinary blockages, which can easily kill a cat. If you've ever heard a cat yowling in pain because he can't go, you definitely don't forget the sound. It's awful and heartbreaking. The first time it happened, we took him to 1st Pet since it was the middle of the night and they were closest. They were wonderful. He had an overnight stay after he was unblocked, just to make sure that he could be monitored for additional blockages or kidney stones. They gave me a prescription food to give him, but despite the diet change and extra water intake (we set up fountains at home), he got blocked up two more times over the next month. Always happened in the middle of the night, so we went to 1st Pet. By the third visit my wallet was already hurting quite a bit, but we knew that this was an issue that clearly wasn't going to fix itself. They recommended a surgical procedure (perineal urethrostomy), which was his best chance of getting through the blockages and stopping them from reoccurring. I didn't have much in the way of funds, and I definitely wasn't expecting to fund cat surgery last minute. They did everything to save my cat's life and keep costs as low as humanly possible. Even though they were able to give me the best possible rate, surgery still isn't cheap. But it was manageable. Not only were they willing to work with me, but the techs/front desk people were incredibly kind and respectful. They know that the people who show up at an emergency vet are generally in a stressful situation, and they were amazing with getting things done quickly and with grace. Surgery went perfectly. I followed their aftercare advice to the letter and my baby boy healed perfectly. He literally would have died without this vet. Fast forward to today, he is 7 years old and my best little buddy. Perfectly healthy. I've dealt with severe depression over the years and gone through some terrible stuff; this cat has been there with me through it all, and has literally saved my life. Thank you, 1st Pet. Seriously. This review was a long time coming. Can't recommend this place enough if you need an emergency vet. It's been years since I've personally been here, but I've had friends who have taken their pets here and apparently the service is still fantastic.

This establishment doesn’t even deserve a star. I’m horrified to have learned that the young dog I bought for my sons birthday gift is DEAD do to a result of this business advising my family that they needed $2500 on them to do anything for the dog. My family was told they do not offer loans and it was not an option to wait even an hour to pull the funds together & that they needed it “right now” or they were going to put him down or they could take him home to suffer! I realize this is a business. Let me express, this entity is a FOUL business & I pray you all read the reviews you see on here. I didn’t as my sons father had been watching him while my sons on a business trip. My sons father is very emotional because he rushed out of the house not taking that amount of money. Had the establishment been more understanding, a simple phone call to me, this adorable dog would be alive no doubt! I’d really like to know why this happened as not offering a chance to save the dog. My sons father said the personnel was extremely rude & I understand this is true after being told we want the money now, or take it home to suffer or we can put him down. Very sad! Even while it’s a business, pets are our family and they need to understand vs just kill it or at least offer people to make a phone call for a bank transfer, something! This really has us all sad and It does not make any sense! I just learned about this hospital and read some horrifying reviews expressed by others similar scenarios. Please do yourself a favor and save your animals live by avoiding this disgraceful establishment!

Larry Eglinton

This is a top notch operation from start to finish. Most importantly, they are very competent. If you have a tricky diagnosis and your regular vet isn't figuring it out, take your pet here.

john weimer

Thanks to 1st Pet in getting my little man Snickers back in loving condition. The staff and doctor were kind and considerate. If a recommendation is ever needed from friends, I will tell them about you.

Ally Tamez

My best friend and pet passed away of a seizure they didn’t try at all to save her life they gave up on her right away without doing any test they were worried more about the payment option I was going to give them. DO NOT take them here the vet was very rude to me while I was worried and grieving they are selfish and only care about money. If I could give them 0 stars I would

Amy Augsburger

I would NEVER bring my dogs here again. Over the years I have had two medical issues with my dogs where they needed to be seen before my regular veterinary clinic could get them in(one occasion was a weekend and the other was early hours of the morning). So I went to this place..... First experience....my dogs got into chocolate, they had to be treated. While being treated someone accidentally overdosed one of my dogs!!! So the situation became worse than the original situation and the dog had to stay there all day to be monitored. Second experience...my dog had a really bad allergic reaction to something or some sort of bite or sting. They evaluated my dog and the doctor seemed to have zero clue where To begin. I trusted my gut feeling and told them I'm just going to go elsewhere. So I went to a different emergency clinic and they knew exactly how to take care of my dog, treat him and get him on a path to recovery with confidence and so much knowledge. I now have a new place if a future emergency happens.

Monet Campos

Would never recommend 1st Pet to anyone I love. Took my puppy for its 2nd shots after getting his first pair at the same clinic weeks before. Weeks after puppy started showing signs of distemper and quickly turned toward the worst having to put the puppy down. Have never had issue with the puppy until after my visits at their clinic. Then when calling to cancel the puppy plan because my puppy died, they then proceeded to tell me it’s a contract and I have to keep paying monthly for the plan or pay out the plan otherwise they’ll send collections on me (which they never explained clearly it’s a contractual plan in the first place, highly deceiving) Wow so much compassion and caring for you clients when your clinic killed my dog. Will never wish what this clinic has done to me on anyone.

The chandler location is amazing! I had a pretty negative experience at the Mesa location and the chandler team has turned it around. Everyone was amazing and so caring! The front staff was very helpful with my kids and dr. Babyak is so talented!

I went to see my dog after a police call for a dog attack. I was in shock from the news and after I saw my dog and confirm the price, they couldn't wait for the surgery to finished! They asked me COUPLE OF TIMES to pay when I was crying for my dog! The lady behind the desk was very rude! I told her couple of times that I will pay before I leave. These people should be trained to RESPECT cleint's feeling. Spend lots of money. And turned out they didnt put the drainer right and I had to go to another hospital that could do it right. My dog could have died because of this!!! Only I could save him beacuse my sister is a nurse and she told me this doean't look normal!!!! I wish I could give 0 star for the horrible experince

Brooklyn Stanger

We LOVED our experience working with First Pet. Our 8 week old German Shepherd got parvo and they went above and beyond to help him recover. They treated him with as much love and care that we would. If your fur baby needs a vet, I highly recommend First Pet!

Kelly Zoe

We've been going to this vet for years now, and they're the best! They're friendly, and great at what they do. Cats and dogs have different waiting rooms and exam rooms, which is so helpful when the animals are scared. I had to put my cat down here, and I received a thoughtful card with his paw print on it and signatures from all of the staff. When discussing care and potential treatments, the staff is straightforward, kind, and is non-judgmental and helpful when it comes to financial concerns

Abby Parke

I’m giving this office one star because I don’t have the option to give it no stars. My friend was faced with the heart wrenching decision to put down his dog today. She had a terrible infection as a result of a cat bite, and the surgeon gave a very negative prognosis. The euthanization process was a complete nightmare. It couldn’t have been handled in a more indelicate manner. First of all, the office manager who came in to have us complete paperwork and payment kept asking about the dog’s “mass.” I told her the dog had an infection, not a mass. She left the room, came back, and asked AGAIN about the mass. Imagine being at the hospital with a family member and having the nurse ask you about the wrong condition. Completely unprofessional and impersonal. That’s not even the worst of it. Then, the vet came in without a tech, the dog immediately tried to bite him and he was relying on us (the people who were grieving) to restrain her. They had a catheter in, so I offered to give her the sedative (I have experience as a tech assistant). When I did, it became apparent that the catheter wasn’t in all the way. The sedative went everywhere. The vet took her to the back to fix the catheter. When she came back there was blood all over her leg and when he gave her the euthanasia, the line pulled loose from the catheter and it went all over the floor. He left the room again and came back with a new syringe of euthanasia and put it straight into the catheter without further sedation. It’s astonishing that this guy is able to perform surgeries. Un.fucking.real.

Cera Lange

Everything went well. It was an extremely stressful experience for our family, but the vet and techs were all extremely comforting and knowledgeable. We were especially grateful that we were allowed to come take up a room to visit with our kitty after his surgery. The facility was extremely clean and I felt good about leaving my cat with the staff. The cost was about what we were expecting for an emergency vet hospital. Thank you so much for making it possible to bring our little guy home!

Tim Miholich

Peanut (our boxer) found the fish tank and stood up on the chair following them. She also liked seeing people walk by the fish tank. The two techs were great. Justine Mumaw, our vet was awesome. She was extremely gentle with peanut and extremely thorough in her examination. She also explained what and why she was doing and the recommendations. Both her and Kristi Stanton are excellent and I would refer anyone to them. 1st pet is an excellent facility and everyone is 100% caring. When Peanut walked in two of the ladies (Laurie and one other girl with 3 boxers) were just gushing their love for her. And Peanut just loved it. 1st Pet is maybe a bit more expensive then maybe some other vets, but I will absolutely say without reservation that you get what you pay for and at !st Pet you are getting excellent treatment for your pet.

Summer Hoskins

1st Pet did a great job taking care of my cat. He got outside and fought with a neighborhood cat resulting in a big gash on his chest. They told me pricing upfront and explained the procedure multiple times. I saw a dog leave that had Parvo and they followed him out with antibacterial spray and a mop to ensure no other animals come in contact with the virus. They are a 24 hour facility & had snacks & drinks available in case you are there for a long while.

Daniel Krupa

Everyone was very friendly, knowledgeable and cared about me as new puppy parent and answered all of my questions. Thank you

Krashwire NA

I cant do zero stars. The first thing I did when getting there was ask if they could see my cat right away. He had a very swollen leg and paw. I was concerned about poison from a scorpion or spider. I said that if not I would drive over to another vet in Gilbert that was open. They yes, they could see him immediately. They then put us in a room and we sat for 40 minutes before I went back to the front desk to ask if they could give me an ETA. I said I can just go to my normal vet in an hour. They then started spouting excuses why the vet had not even been in to do a triage. When my wife started to explain that we would not have even come in if they had been honest about not being able to see him immediately the employee said "What is your problem lady?" among other less than professional comments. I was floored. We then called other vets, found an opening and left. We will NEVER go back. They were compassionless and lied to get us in the door.

victoria hernandez

My pet and I have been patients of the Chandler location, 1st pet vet, for 3 years, almost 4. I have gone to this clinic for every need and incident since my dog was a puppy. Recently, I brought my pup in for his shots and for a reaction that occurred on his face. The vet Dr. Kachka, treated the reaction, which turned out to be an infection with medication. I was informed that we could not proceed with vaccinations due to the infection. It was recommended I return for a follow-up and depending on the results of the follow-up we could proceed with vaccinations. This appt costed me near $500. At the follow up appointment, the vet stated she wanted to continue with a second round of antibiotics for the infection on my dog, that depending on his shot record we would continue with shots. She proceeded to review his shot record to see if it would be necessary to vaccinate. She reviewed the shot record and very rudely and judgmental, stated that he was so overdue. So she proceeded to vaccinate. The vet administered the rabies and distemper parvo under the skin, then administered the live vaccine of bordetella orally. This appt again, costed me nearly $500. The very next day my dog was fighting a fever, coughing, fatigued and was unable to eat. My dog was unable to get up on his own and lost 5 pounds in less than 2 weeks. I called multiple times and even went in for an emergency visit but was told I needed an appointment with an emergency vet (which I have never had to do) and since I didn’t make the appointment I would have to wait an unknown amount of time due to there being more serious patients being seen. I decided to see another vet due to a loss of trust in 1st Pet Vet. There I was given his diagnosis. Being given the bordetella vaccine orally should have never happened. There is a dead vaccine that is given under the skin and a live vaccine given nasally. Knowing that my dog had fought parvo, the vet should have never given the live vaccine, since having parvo caused him to have a weaker, compromised immune system. Now, the vet administered the vaccine orally. This resulted in my dog getting an infection in his throat. The new vet reported that his lungs where fine but his throat was infected. The vaccine, given orally, caused swelling and pain. My dog was unable to eat, bark and had difficulty breathing. He was gagging, heaving and choking on his own saliva. Even drinking water was an impossible task for him. The infection produced a fever and extreme fatigue. He was fighting for his life. The carelessness and incompetence of the vet caused unnecessary pain, sickness and a risk of death to my dog, not to mention fear, anxiety and vet bills for me as a loving owner. For the most part, the front desk staff have been helpful and I have had many pleasant encounters with the vet techs. On the other hand, my experience with, Dr. Kachka, has been nothing but negative. Not only has this incident led me to lose my trust in this clinic but her overall demeanor towards me has been negative. I have felt judged as an owner and she is rude when addressing me. I have nothing but love for my pet. He is more than just a dog to me and to be made to feel so negatively is a terrible feeling. I have dropped nearly $1000 in two weeks. This vets main goal is money, not care for pets. I will never be returning to 1st pet vet clinic. More like last pet vet in my book.

Brought my dog into the ER side of 1st Pet for a painful rear end. Staff was quick to get me settled into a room and the process started. Vet and all assisting staff were very friendly and understanding. Although my dog was being aggressive due to the pain, they remained patient. Cost was discussed up front and I wasn't pressured into having any unnecessary procedures done. I wasn't hit with any surprise charges- which I greatly appreciate. Facility was clean and calm music played in the room along with soothing pictures on the TV. They also had a human snack basket in the room, which I thought was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this location.

I am so glad that we have access to excellent care for our pets, 24 hours a day. We had a late evening emergency with our dog and we were so impressed with the care given; not just our little furry, but us also. Their staff is very attentive, they know their business and we were quite impressed with every staff member we saw. They have a well-oiled machine, providing great customer service!!

monica bono

Very happy with almost everything about this clinic. Our only complaint is the wait time for vet to come into the room. Everything else is done in a timely fashion and with the utmost care and compassion.

Brad Phillips

They did a good job. It was a sunday night and I figured we wouldn't get out of there for under 500 bucks. To my surprise it was less than half that. Fast, friendly and thorough.

Melissa Valencia

We really appreciate the friendliness of all the staff. We feel that everyone is very knowledgeable and are comfortable that our puppy is in good hands. As 1st time dog owners, taking our puppy to this facility has been a breath of fresh air and we are very happy with our decision to invest in the wellness plan.

After explaining to the Vet/Techs etc that my dog is terrified of Vets, they had a magical effect on him and he made a liar out of me. They all were so kind and helpful. I just can't express my appreciation enough to Dr. Nicole Keaner and all the staff at your office. When we arrived I was in a bit of a panic as my 100 pound dog would hardly walk, when we left my dog and I were both feeling much better. I didn't get the Nurses names but they were fantastic with my boy. Thank you so much to your wonderful staff!

Tiffany Gilson

We went in for my puggel that ended up having a bladder infection. The front desk was extremely friendly, and made sure we were comfortable. When we got there, there was another patient that was much more critical, but the techs, front desk, and doctor checked in on us, kept us informed, and saw us when they could. When the vet was able, she took her time, answered all my questions and was understanding about budget. I wouldn’t change anything, and will always recommend this place.

I TNR'd a small colony of feral cats and one of the boys became very sick; so sick that he was literally dying in my neighbor's yard. We took him to 1st Pet and there was no wait time; the front desk staff immediately paged someone to come to the front desk and take him from the carrier for a cursory exam. I knew he needed to be euthanized and that's exactly what she surmised. There was no fee. In hindsight, I should have asked to be present so he could hear a familiar voice as he passed but didn't know if they would euthanize immediately or hold him until a vet was available. Although he wasn't a pet, I cared for him outdoors for several years. 1st Pet really made the process easy as I didn't know what to do when he went he downhill so fast and needed medical intervention.

lena laibe

Took my baby in for throwing up and all that yucky stuff. They were so good to me and my baby!

Marilee Mohr

I have never been to any pet or human hospital as competent or kind as this one. All employees were helpful, kind and provided excellent care to my girl Mandi.

Jackson Hilgers

Super nice staff, who really show care and sympathy towards you when you and your dog realize it’s time for her to cross the ranbow bridge. I would recommend based on how professional and sympathetic these people here are. I know our dog would be respected here and that’s what they did.

Jo Ann Moser

All three of my furry kids go to 1st Pet- and each has his/her own personality. The wonderful front desk staff, the techs, and vets always know just how to treat each one. The cat is easy going, the Beagle is a bit of a "fraidy dog," and the French Bulldog is a social butterfly that rides along to see his friends at 1st Pet even when he doesn't have an appointment. No fear of the vet for him because they have always made him feel so comfortable there. Thanks so much!

This place is a joke and poor excuse for an emergency vet clinic. They turned away my dog tonight because I had a previous complaint with a vet there. We took a dog here for a CT and he was so oversedated when we picked him up that he was having continuous bowel movements. They brought him in to discharge with poop all over him, his tongue hanging out of his mouth, vomiting and barely arousable. They have no reversal agent so sent us home with paper towels for his leaking bottom. I had to put him in my shower when we got home because he continued to leak and called my vet. She called for records and told us they gave him too much medication and there is no reversal agent. I was so worried he would aspirate his vomit. It finally wore off the next morning. Of course we were upset and had every right to be but they black balled our record so when I brought my puppy in with something stuck in her throat they refused to see her. Reporting them to AZ Board of Veterinary Medicine.

This animal hospital treats animals and people better that any human doctors office or hospital I've ever visited.

Bianca Rodriguez

Be kind and don't judge your patients, that is all. I went to your emergency services because I Googled my pup's symptoms, and saw he could have a potentially dangerous ailment. As soon as I mentioned Google, the technician judged me. I tried to make her understand that I didn't diagnose my own dog with Google, I only used Google to determine whether I should call my vet immediately or wait. I decided to call my vet, and they referred me to this emergency vet hospital. At the end of my visit, I left with more questions than I had before I entered. I felt rushed out, and when I got home, my dog was doing worse due to the aggressive pain killers the was given. He had trouble walking and didn't eat for a couple of days until the pain killers wore off. This whole experience was a nightmare, and I'm really upset that this is the only emergency vet in my area.

When my mother's dog had a seizure recently, we were told to take him here. The care he received was excellent and we were very pleased with the doctor, technicians and front office staff. They were quick to send records and info to his regular vet for a follow up visit and we were able to have x-rays, blood test and valley fever test all done at 1st Pet, as well as take home medicine to help him. They even called later to check on him. We were there awhile, and they had free water and treats for us, which was nice since my 86-year-old mother missed lunch.

Elaine Delozier

The check in for a new patient is great. We were immediately taken to an exam room where the information was entered into the computer. This made the check in a smooth seamless process. The staff is very kind and caring. They do everything to be helpful even supplying snacks and water. Dr. Goldman is great, very caring. She took time to do a through examination of my cat taking care to check her completely with as little discomfort as possible. Everyone here is fantastic. I am very pleased with my complete experience. I highly recommend 1st Pet.

The providers and staff at 1ST Pet are the best of the best! I can't praise them enough as they so deserve it. They are kind, compassionate and caring to you and your beloved pet. There is no better specialty vet than Dr. Babyak! She is outstanding, kind, caring and knowledgeable. It is one of the few vet offices with emergency services 24/7 and I have used them many times at all hours of the day and night and the service and caring is always the same, great! Thank them for doing an outstanding job as they richly deserve it! Linda & Robert Rude

Best place to go for a pet emergency. They don’t try to overcharge and take your money. They’re honest with you about your problem, and the best solutions for your pet.

Typical corporate bait and switch gouge. Any little treatment plan on spending 1000. Thing is it costs 125 just to ask the question Rip off- My mistake I was at the Mesa office, not the chandler facility. All the same I reject your answer. The wait was horrible, the pricing was more than double a traditional 8-5 vet. I expected it to be more, due to it being after hours, but your rates were astronomically high. Health care is expensive, however more than double the cost from a traditional vet is just greed. It's funny because veterinariary care is close to that of human medical care, yet they have no where near the liability of a physician. The worst part is to can't even ask the question regarding the price of the treatment without paying 125. That's not transparency, that's greedy bait and switch.. Honestly the condition with my pet wasn't something that need a veterinarian to spend any significant time or knowledge to diagnose. Dog had a cut that needed stitched up, likely sedation and a course of antibiotics. I knew that from the start. It didn't take a veterinarian degree to make that determination. Yet the few minutes the vet spent, who told me what I already knew, "yep cut needs stiched up with antibiotics" apparently required a 125 fee, for her look at a cut to give me a more than double price of a traditional vet. So I paid 125.00 and received nothing for it.

1st Pet always provides a good experience in stressful situations. This was our second time needing emergency care. Each time. the care team was excellent, the vet was accomplished and extremely knowledgeable, and we were able to receive treatment in a reasonable amount of time. In addition, they reported the emergency care to our primary vet so we did not have to worry about our vet knowing what happened. 1st Pet is our go-to for emergency pet care. I highly recommend them.

Tamara Russo

Though busy, my kitty and I were given a clean and comfortable examination room (and vitals were taken) immediately. The wait there was about an hour, as one would expect in an emergency room, but we weren’t led to believe we were forgotten. Staff checked up on us frequently, and they even brought in a basket of (human) treats to help offset the wait! Our doctor, who was kind and gentle (and not frazzled by her patient load), examined Bella where SHE was most comfortable, on the floor! Barely a hiss came out of my baby! I was listened to, and treated well, (like I had a brain cell in my head!), and Bella’s treatment plan was decided upon together. And we didn’t have to sell our house to pay for this visit! Prices are very reasonable! Thank you 1st Pet!!!

Carisa Knight

I was referred by my primary vet for a specialty procedure on my cat. I called multiple times in advance of scheduling an appointment to ask questions. They were patient, friendly and thorough every time. They accommodated my far drive by holding open time for me to have the procedure performed the same day as my consultation. Their price on CT scan was considerably less than other places I called before getting the referral to 1st Pet. Recommended!

Joe Rehall

This place will price gouge you. They charge 50%+ more than their competitors.

Dr. Mumaw has been our doctor for almost a decade. We moved to Tucson awhile ago and tried other vets...but none compare to Dr. Mumaw's veterinary expertese and the kindness of the staff. We come up to the Chandler office from Tucson for vet visits. The atmosphere of the office is so calming that our 3 dogs are actually excited when they see where we are. The get lots of petting, cooing and treats...our black lab, blue doberman and tiny little mutt love it! Also...there's something to be said for the calming music piped through clinic. Thank you for all that you do!

Michelle Baker

We've had to go there to put down a pet and they were always so good to us. Kind, compassionate, and quick to help or end suffering.

Jennifer Morgan

Just had to take our boy thinking it was bloat. They got us in immediately, and accommodated our leash excited and loud dog. We got in the room, he vomited, and he was all better! They were so kind!

Ashley Incardone

When my little one cut herself on a chair, the team at FirstPet got my pup in the minute we walked in, everyone was beyond helpful and kind, and my pup came back all fixed in just a few hours.

1) Charlotte is amazing. She was friendly, didn’t get scared from my dogs barking (she was in pain) and was very thorough in her discharge instructions. 2) My pet had some sedation and when I came home she began to act very odd, confused, and apprehensive. She was crying loudly and I couldn’t figure out what was going on. When I called in, not only did the person I spoke with provide me with instructions to medicate with Gabapentin, but she also explained to me that the sedation given at the hospital is known for causing odd behavior and that the gaba would also have some sedating effects and help her sleep. I was so emotional on the phone and she took amazing care of me and when I got off the phone with her, I felt like I received the correct instructions and that my dog would be safe. I also asked if I can put a muzzle on her because I didn’t want her biting herself or anyone while she was impaired but she explained to me the risks of aspiration and that I should just keep my pup isolated. She was great. My dogs lacerations are healing (they are dry) and her behavior has returned to normal. 3) The only thing I would say to do differently is to provide the education on the effects of the sedation at discharge that way I didn’t get so worried when she did start behaving oddly. But other than that, you guys were amazing. Thanks so much!

Patricia Barchus

I want to start taking me pet here from now on. They were so caring and understanding. Thank you Dr Sanchez and the staff.

Rich Fischer

Wow! I totally get that some cases are urgent and require immediate attention. Our dog had ingested something, all we needed was assurance she wasn’t blocked....5 hours, $600 later....after preparing to leave with no answer and seeing the actual Vet for 45 seconds. The Vet finally met us at the “cashier counter”as we were going to walk out, and told us they were preparing discharge instructions. They want that $$$$! Is all! Sad.

Christian Mora

they only care about the payment for visiting, that when I was in there my girlfriend was crying over the fact that she might lose her dog. she was crying and they would check in every 8 min to figure out how to pay for the visit they only care about the money

Compassionate & Caring Staff! We suffered through the loss of our beloved cat Chino not long ago. He was struck and killed by a motorist not far from our townhouse. They failed to stop and render aid or simply remove him from the roadway to prevent any further injuries. Whether or not it would have mattered, we do not know, but then again, neither does the motorist who struck him. If not for the Good Samaritans who took it upon themselves to transport Chino to Chandler 1st Pet Veterinary Center, his passing, could have turned into something far more dishonorable than was befitting this beautiful companion. The blessings did not end there however. Immediately after Chino was received by 1st Pet Vets, they were able to identify us from the chip we had implanted while he was just a kitten. After contacting us and recognizing the horrible grief we were confronting, 1st Pet Staff offered to respectfully cremate our Chino "Bambino" at no expense whatsoever to us. We can't express in words how meaningful and timely their thoughtful gesture meant to us. If that act of generosity was not enough, they also offered to send us a paw print impression of our beloved pet to serve as a lifelong keepsake. The card we received from 1st Pet containing the paw print was beautifully signed by what must have been every member of their caring clinic. It was such a heartfelt gesture and I would like to thank and bless each and every one of you for the relief you provided to our hearts during the sorrowful passing of our loving cat. Each of these individuals, including the Good Samaritans, are angels and I'm convinced that you couldn't possibly love and care about your pets any more than these wonderful Veterinarians and the caring staff they have chosen to assist them. God Bless you all and thank you all so very much! May you forever RIP ChiChi.
