Waited 4 hours for my dog with a punctured and bleeding eye to be examined. Another dog was brought in 3 hours into our wait and was treated immediately.

Wren Allen

My husband and i had to wait for 3 hours, while our poor cat bled from his privates. We keept being bumped back due to other "emergancies" without notice. Our poor kitty had to wait in pain all that time. When i asked to speak to someone in charge all they could tell me was that they were busy. And was told to go some where else after already waiting so long. I will never be coming here again.

Most insensitive vet I've ever been to. Also won't work with you financially not going back.

We have not nothing but great experiences with all of the doctors and other staff at Diamond Animal Hospital. All have been thorough in explanations to adults in addition to being very loving and sensitive to our black lab. Even our lab, Oban, is happier there than he has ever been at other clinics.

On a Sunday carried in my 17 year old lab that was ultimately dying. Upon arrival at the clinic we were treated immediately with true care and concern. She was was made comfortable by 2 injections as she was no longer eating well. Upon discharge the fees were more than reasonable, less expensive than our regular vet. The staff was honest, caring and even carried her out to my car. They had never seen our Pepper, yet it treated her as if they had been her vet for 17 years. Thank you!!

My mother came in here last night to get our dog help. Our 11yr old yellow lab stomach had turned unknownst to her. I just got the call this morning, I'm not in Alaska, that our dog has passed. My family member died in that place last night . You guys cared more about money upfront then helping our family, when your dog is DYING how can somebody even fill out paperwork or even comprehend what is happening ? Yeah you did some stuff. But not after putting my mother through emotional hell after what already was a terrible night. I don't live back home anymore but I for sure be posting and letting people know what happened here.

Vets and staff are awesome. Sometimes the wait can be long for walkins...but that is why they call it walk ins. Thank you Midnight Sun!

This vet clinic does not care about your animal. There is no professionalism what so ever. The receptionist are rude, even on the phone. I am absolutely blown away by their lack of client care. I would NOT recommend you taking your loved one here. It's not even worth a phone call.

Grant Mathews

Would not recommend. Extremely long walk-in wait times and very poor customer service. On multiple occasions it took a week or more to hear back from the vet and sometimes we never received a call back at all.

Our dog had a severe case of Pyometra which is an infection in the uterus that could easily rupture and kill her. We live in the valley and called well over an hour before leaving the valley explaining that our vet had another emergency surgery and they (Diamond Animal) recommended we rush into Anchorage. Off we go, just to sit in the waiting room for HOURS watching dog after dog go back for appointments despite their sign that clearly says "emergencies will be treated before appointments, and walk-in" we are currently rushing back to wasilla and hoping we can still save her life. Don't take your animal here if it's a genuine emergency because they truly don't care if they live or die. Initially they said it was possible to treat with antibiotics then after hours of waiting tell us the more time that goes by the more likely she would need surgery. I am so glad to say they have a facility that is worth a million dollars (literally- the most goddy thing you have ever seen) but apparently can't afford more than one doctor at a time. I have included a picture of the sign that I have stated at for the last 3 hours.

Call tonight about my mastiff having sezing and tild 165.00 for offi e visit before they do any thing then we really cant tell do blood work she might have 2 stay over night and then told another dog in there for the same thing and 1.500.00 so far on her bill sounds to me very money hungry place dont like i had to give them 1 star wish i dident have 2 my mastiff is going in to her vet tommrow think twice before you go here i never will

Overpriced, and lackluster. I've been to many vets, and it's easy to pick out the ones that are only after your cash. The staff seem distant and not very communicative. I use this place every now and again because of the 24/7 emergency hours, and it's close to where I live. Usually I make a reservation, but today called in and decided to to do the walk-in. I went in for this walk-in and was told that there were only a "few" people ahead of me and it would be a little wait....after an hour of waiting with no communication - other than that they would look up at me every now and then, the place was empty and I thought I might be up...with my poor dog waiting around patiently and my other dog in the hot car.. However, .another individual walks in and gets help almost immediately, despite the fact that there was no emergency on their end. I would only use this place if you have an emergency. There are more professional institutions out there, which are less expensive. Unless I have an emergency I will not bother handing them my money again.

I love this clinic. They are incredibly helpful over the phone, as well as when I'm in. I get quotes over the phone for most services, and I've yet to be surprised at the bill. Prices do not change 'after hours' like PET ER. And as long as you understand that when you walk in, your pet is 'triaged', you won't be too worried about the wait.

Lisa Sumpter

I just have to say I would like an OWNER, not a manager or supervisor to call me, please. You can find my number in my chart , for my dog, same last name first name starts with a T. Pertains to visit 4/7 and 4/10.

I have been going here for 10 years. I have tried a few other places like pet emergency and Far Country and their service and prices don't even compare. The first time I took my pug there was after I tried using pet emergency, they took x-rays and kept her in a incubator overnight and charged me an arm and a leg to tell me she couldn't breath because she ate too much then she couldn't breathe again that night. That's when i took the x-rays and headed to Diamond Animal hospital! Dr. Riddle took one look at her x-rays and saw something scratched the inside of her nose and told me to giver her some benadryl and the next day she was back to her normal self. I have never had an issue with them. Love their service and expertise! Most recently my pups and I were around the corner at the Campbell Creek Park and My pug wasnt looking so good. I looked at her gums and they were paper white. I rushed back to the car and made it to the Diamond Hospital within 10 min I walked in and showed the receptionist her gums and she took her right to the back and they started working on her. They are not positive but she was probably stung and was going through anaphylactic shock they gave her a shot and kept her overnight for monitoring and we will pick her up this afternoon. She sounds like she is back to her normal self. Thank you Diamond Animal Hospital.

My cat Milo got hit by a car and my boyfriend and I drove from Seward to anchorage to get help. Cara Elton was the person who helped us and she did amazing all around. She was really good with Milo and accommodated us to our wants and what we needed. I would recommend her to anyone I know. Thank you very much for helping Us and my Milo. ❤

When you get called by the office lady saying they have your deceased cats paw print ready but you paid for private cremation, everything they had to offer, and she makes out like she has no idea what youre talking about, then tries to cover her tracks by saying it just wasn't written down properly. This gives me no reassurance that I'll be seeing only my kittens ashes back. I hope she feels horrible about what she said to me. When he died they also showed no empathy or kindness, just wanted me to swipe my credit card. I will never be going back here and neither should any of you. Shame.

Jolynda Hetzell

I have been bringing my pets to DAH for YEARS! They are always very nice and knowledgeable. The staff always makes sure to let me know when wait times are extended, so I always know how long to expect the visit to be. I wouldn't take my animals anywhere else.

Tiara Potter

We had to put our dog down, which is one of the toughest things you ever have to do as a pet owner, our dogs are more than family to us. It was heart renching, but the staff and Dr. was great, very patient & understanding helped best they could in such a sad moment. I would just like to thank them all of them for everything. They made a horrible situation barable. thank you thank you thank you all!

My daughter and I had a pet emergency at 230 am on a Sunday and there is no 24 hour veterinary clinics in the valley. We drove there and they got him in immediately and went to work taking care of our pup. The staff are very thorough and great people. My daughter and I are very grateful they are there 24 hours. Thank you!

Tiara P.

Great Vet office! the eintire staff is helpful & courtious. Always a nice when you know they actually care & want to help. Love the doctors at this office, they always follow up with you promptly. Great having emergency vet hours with out the increased fee. When you have mulitple pets it makes a differnece. Thank you all for all you do!

August 9th I went to Dimond Animal Clinic after going by Pet ER (Pet ER had a full waiting room). I rushed to DAC and they were pretty busy as well, but they offered a "triage" option. It was very clear that my cat was struggling to breathe, so they got a triage team member, who came and rushed him to the back. My cat did not make it, but the vet and every member of the staff I spoke with was compassionate and caring. Everyone was so nice during such a horrific time. I very much appreciate them.

This would be a -5 if you could rate it like that. Warning, this review is not for the faint of heart. I took my best friend, Pedro, a long haired Chihuahua to the Diamond Animal Hospital on June 13th, 2017. The visit was to find out what was causing him to act abnormally since he had been in a fight with my French Bulldog Mack on June 9th, 2017. It took 45 minutes to see the vet around 2:45 as walk in appointments start at 2:00pm. As per usual, around 5 employees stood around behind the receptionist desk during my wait speaking about things other than work. We went back for the exam in a regular vet room and an assistant took Pedro's vitals and let me know the vet would be in. Half an hour later in walked Emily Mehlman the vet. She had seen all 3 of my dogs before for minor shots and check ups and seemed competent enough during those visits. I let her know the dogs had been in a fight over a toy and Pedro had been acting funny ever since; not eating, acting wounded, and not wanting to leave his crate. I let her know I didn't know if it was a broken bone, bite wound, or something happened to an organ. I also reminded her of Pedro's poor teeth and our plan to extract all the teeth he had left when the time was appropriate. She began her exam by feeling Pedro from tail to head. After that she took a treat and waived it in front of his face appearing to test for range of motion. She let me know she believed he had a strained neck. I said, "Geez are you sure we don't need to do any xrays or blood work?" She responded, "No, I am sure of it he has a sprained neck." I thought to myself she is the expert she must know what she is talking about even though this exam was only 5 minutes. She prescribed Pedro 3 different pain medications and let me know he might act like he feels better with the meds but keep him from doing anything strenuous with the other dogs and moving around to much. I asked general questions about how long it would take to heal and she said a month. With Pedro home and taking the meds he did act like he felt better. He was moving around like normal but I kept him in his crate and kept his interaction with my 2 French Bulldogs to a minimum. 3 weeks in he just hadn't quite turned the corner to being 100% so I felt him up and down and found an abnormal clump of hair on his neck. Sure enough he had a bite wound. I cut some of the hair around it and it looked pretty bad. I called Diamond Animal Hospital and let them know the next day they had misdiagnosed his injury. My point of view I expressed to them was they could treat him for free or I would come get the paperwork for all three of my dogs and take my business elsewhere. The owner of the Hospital called me and let me know she believed it was my fault and that Pedro had been bitten after the visit he originally came in for. She said they couldn't examen a dog head to toe for a bite injury without shaving their entire body. If I told you the dogs had been in a fight why not shave his neck to check for a bite wound do to that is where you believe he has an injury? Or check it more thoroughly then a 5 minute exam? Shouldn't it be routine to check for a bite wound after I tell you the dogs had been in a fight? I went and grabbed my paperwork from Diamond Animal Hospital and took Pedro to another vet clinic in town. The other vet said that they should have been able to catch the bite wound during the first visit but he also hadn't seen him at that time. We tried to help Pedro fight the infection but it was too much for him to overcome. The bite wound met up with his bad dental health and ran wild. I had to make the ultimate decision to put him to sleep because the infection kept spreading and opened up a massive hole in his cheek. The reason for his eventual downturn is unknown but I think if we had caught it early he would have survived. If you truly love your pets like I do avoid Diamond Animal Hospital. I have attached a photo of just how bad this ended up...

Open 24hrs so that's a bonus. Docs and staff are nice and friendly. Front desk receptionists have quite interesting conversations with each other... Only say this because no matter what they tell you on the phone you will wait in the waiting room for HOURS to see a Doc (hence the below stellar rating) and will have to listen to it. The ONLY reason we'll continue to come back is because they have our dogs' history. In summary, make sure you have a full battery on your cell phone because you'll need it and when you see a Doc/Assistant they will treat you and your pet well.

We took our dog here because of an emergency and he had to stay overnight. When we picked up our dog he was so dirty and muddy his face was cover in mud and his tongue was missing a chunk!!! When we contacted them they told us that they had no idea what had happen and did not take responsibility for our dog being so muddy and for his tongue, we paid $1100 and they can't take responsibility for what they did to my dog! If you truly love you pets do not take them to this clinic, I am so disappointed with them!!

merci mes amis

My dog had a broken leg. We went in they took xrays. ( As we were waiting, the receptionist, called a customer on the phone and left a voice message. The message she left was: call us back because your cat is sick and we need to get paid to do anything more for him, if not he wont make it. That was heartless. I understand that they want money in order to save the cat's life but that was unprofessional and heartless. Where is the compassion?) Well, our pup's break was bad. Both the radius and ulna were broken in the center. Just by looking at it, it needed surgery big time. The doctor that was on duty at night said all it needed was a cast and that if she showed the xray to a surgeon, he would say to cast it. We doubted her and she said again "if Iwere to show this to a surgeon, he would say why are you showing me this? It needs to be casted". So we took her word even though we wanted the surgery. We paid the $700. The surgery would have been $2,100. After a month with weekly visits each time paying $60 or more, we went in for a follow up xray. The doctor that was working that day said that the cast isnt working and she (our pup) needed surgery. Of course we were upset because we knew the cast wasnt going to do anything for this fracture in the first place. Now they were insisting on the surgery. Upset, we took the name and number of the surgeon and took our 1 year old pup to our regular vet, Chester Valley Animal Hospital (which I will review them on their page). What had us really upset about this experience, is that we took our pup there as a patient. But this clinic is in business to make money and even though we told them our concerns, they still took advantage of the situation. What they saw was dollar signs when we walked in and then they saw suckers. When we again mentioned that the fracture required surgery they asked if we were doctors. No we aren't and neither are they. They are souless bloodsuckers who take advantage of people who love animals. They wanted to be sure that they got their $1000 before sending us to a surgeon. Even if its an emergency, never would I send anyone here. Its a rip off. Go to Alaska Veterinary Clinic. If you love your pet, you wont step foot in Diamond Animal Hospital.

They do take a while to get you and your pet checked out, but it is well worth your wait, the price for their services is great, when we changed vets the price for our dogs check up dropped by half.

Shaylyn Sheldon

Went to make sure my dog isn't going on to labor. And they wanted 200 for the xray and 70 for the visit. When I called I asked them how much would it would cost and she told me it wasn't expensive. Then the vet tells me that all dogs should be fixed. They looked at me like I'm broke and ahoulsnt have a dog. Yeah I'm not going there ever again.

Grace Barnett

This hospital is wonderful, and DR. Hefly doubly so. She did both my dogs FHOs as well as set her leg after she had it broken in a dog attack and just recently did her knee surgery. After the heart break of finding out that my dog had bone spurs as a puppy and would need hip surgery they were able to walk me through both and keep us on track with the healing. When she was attacked in between the surgery’s they were able to change her therapy plans to accommodate the cast. When her knee had a muscle tear they were able to get her in for surgery the same night. My dog is only walking due to this vet and I will not take her anywhere else now. The wait times can be long but just be happy you are not the largest emergency they have right then. As someone who has both waiting a long time and been rushed back, I would rather wait and know my dog is OK.

They helped us out and everyone that came after us,we're bring our doggy back every time for sure because this place is vary nice

Our cat had surgery and had his mouth wired shut, the feeding schedule was clear but nothing on how much water for the feeding tube since he couldn't drink from a bowl. We called twice and they insisted the 12 ml 6 times a day was plenty plus the water in the food. We begged for a food to water ratio to insure he would get both the proper calories and enough water to stay hydrated, they told us it didn't matter multiple times. We finally called college vet and talked with our regular vet and they calculated he needed at least 300 ml of water a day, a far cry from the 72ml these guys said was plenty. Glad we didn't trust them and kill our already injured cat.

We took our dog Miska in because we suspected she had mites. We were not listened to and Miska was diagnosed with an allergy (we were told mites aren't a problem in Alaska). Over the course of 6 months Miska continued to get worse and worse until she had lost most of her hair and was covered in open sores. We could no longer play with her or take her biking because her skin would split open and bleed. My husband and I started getting bites and then our 2.5 month old was COVERED in bites(Still diagnosed as an allergy), we were told “you need to get that checked out.” After five appointments with no new diagnosis, we decided to get a second opinion. The other clinic found this to be strange...this did not look like an allergy and although they did not find mites initially they listened to our plea and prescribed us mite medication. It was the next appointment that they did indeed find and confirm that our pup had mites all over her. Miska was so thoroughly infested at this point that we had to move out of our house for 30 days, pay for an exterminator, and pay to get our carpets cleaned. Total cost was over $3,000. (All while having a newborn...one would think there would be more urgency) This could have been easily avoided by a $75 prescription at the time of the first appointment. The one star is because you can’t give a -11. It should be noted that my husband wrote a review below; they responded that we could call and discuss our experience. We have, and the owner was apologetic but said that she stood by her vets and they did nothing wrong. How about the 3 days it took them to call me when I called back on multiple occasions and was told that I was on the top of the list? Or when we were actually scoffed at for even suggesting that Miska had mites. Please, don’t patronize customers. The pictures I have posted were at the mild stages of infestation. Now imagine the bite on my daughters foot, but covering her entire body, including face. And then imagine them all over your body and itching for 12 weeks after you’ve been bit. Don’t go here.

Tara Bivins

Terrific staff! They truly put the health and safety of pets first. We've taken our dog here for over 10 years and have always been totally satisfied with her care.

This place sucks ass. They call and tell you, then you have to wait. I dont know if they are meth or gasoline huffers or not, but judging from their customer service, I wouldnt be surprised.

Great people. Very compassionate. Attentive to what's going on. If ever an emergency with a pet. This is where I would recommend going.

Would not recommend. Our dogs face got completely swollen randomly late at night. We rushed over hoping to have someone look at it and let us know if it was ok or not. The people checking us in were cold and just gave us paperwork and then said someone will see you soon. That was the last time someone spoke to us. We waited for over an hour and this whole time we never saw any vet come out to see us or any of the other people who were waiting in the lobby. After calling a friend who was a vet they told us things would be fine if we just watched it over night. When I told the people at the front we were leaving they responded with "fine if you think you know best."

Jared Hutchison

Would not recommend AT ALL. Awful doctors that are inexperienced and don’t care about your animals. Go someplace else, it will save time and money

I will start by saying my husband and I have been to this clinic more than once for our two older dogs. Previous to our most recent encounter we have liked the vets we have interacted with, and they have charged very fair prices. However the experience we had recently when unexpectedly having to put our dog down was nothing short of HORRIFIC! For one we came in a day prior thinking our dog was having some anxiety/depression issues due to being blind, recently moving, and expecting a new baby… come to find out our baby had cancer throughout her body(lungs and tummy) it was recommended that we put her down asap, as it was only getting worse. The vet we spoke with who gave us this news was extremely nice, empathetic, and caring. We agreed to take our puppy home to cuddle her, give her plenty of loves, and let my husband have a day with her to hike, and eat whatever treats she wanted (she was his puppy for 10+ years of her life and he loved her more than anything). So the following evening as anyone would he had a very hard time bringing his baby in to be put down… The vet we met with immediately started telling us about his dog, I’m sorry but when your bringing in your best friend to be put down the LAST thing you want to hear about is someone else’s dog… frankly we couldn’t have cared less for his story at that point… He then gave us some time to say good bye after the IV was placed, he reentered the room and attempted to give her the dose… well the IV was blocked and not going into her body, he expressed that this must have been placed wrong and he needed to place it again, so he took her to the back to replace the IV. He returned a short time later and attempted the process again at which point only a small amount of the medication had gotten into her vein, the rest had pooled under her skin due to it not being placed correctly in the vein and being placed through the vein under the skin  . She stood up extremely disoriented, tried to lick my husband’s face over and over, and kept trying to move around. Literally a nightmare for both of us… not only was it heart wrenching, not peaceful, and horrific to experience and watch, the vet then felt the need to explain his mistake in detail( making it seem that much worse), not only that he then left to give us time to “calm her down” which didn’t work because she was out of it due to the drugs . My husband was devastated to see his best friend in this state, and it made him instantly question his decision to put her down. I then ran to get the vet who came back in took her back to the back and brought her back with an IV in the other arm, at which point he administered the medication (3rd ATTEMPT) that finally worked… However I question if it was the correct dose as it still took a reasonable amount of time to stop her heart… at this point he continued to talk about his dog prior to leaving us to say good bye. I had to put our other 13 year old dog down just 3 months prior and did it at Pet Emergency rather then here at dimond, and had the most peaceful experience given the circumstances. I left her passing feeling at peace with how she went and the kind of care she had received in her last moments. That is far from the way I felt with our other little one at Diamond. I have felt horrible for the way she went and all I can picture is her trying to get up and lick my husband while drugged up. It infuriates me the way the process went and also how it was handled! I would have paid whatever to ensure she was at peace when she left us, however to think we paid nearly double what I did for such a horrific experience really puts the cherry on the top… though we had good service prior at this vet not only would I personally NEVER EVER go back to this facility, I also will never recommend it to anyone.

Andria Cross

I’ve taken my older cat here several times and have had positive experiences. Most recently my cat had an allergic reaction and they were able to get me in quickly and assess my cats needs efficiently, additionally I feel that I was charged the appropriate amount for the services rendered. Dr. Frost is fantastic and I would recommend this facility to other pet parents for acute and other healthcare needs.

My dog hurt his neck and I took him in on Saturday morning. I received quick and excellent care. The price was reasonable, especially for a walk in. I called them at midnight tonight because my dog was still in pain. They took my questions and the doctor called me back in 15 minutes and was able to give me answers! I will continue to use them as my regular vet and will recommend them from now on! Thank you Midnight Sun!

I took our 16 year old female chihuahua to this after hours Animal Hospital after she became suddenly sick with a bloody thick diarrhea. I waited for almost 3 hours in the waiting room to see a tech or vet, but was told by the front desk staff that my dog was not considered an emergency with bloody diarrhea symptoms, and that there were other animals in front of me needing more care, and that I was next in line after another 45 minute wait, as long as an animal wasn’t brought in that had been hit by a car! It was late and I was tired, as well as she was needing to go potty frequently, so I took her home and tried to help her every 20 mins while she strained and strained the rest of the night. She was bleeding and I would clean her each time. She became quite lethargic and dehydrated, but I knew our vet clinic opened at 7:30am and I just prayed she and I could hold on.....I took her in as soon as they opened. They drew blood and did some testing on her right away, and was diagnosed with a sudden onset condition called HGE and needed immediate care! It took two days of IV fluids, and three medications, along with constant care for 48 hours before her body rallied.. she is currently recovering at home. Had the Emergency Services at the Midnight Sun Animal Hospital taken her back and done a blood panel right away, they could’ve relieved her discomfort and given fluids and medication that could have been administered immediately, to prevent her rapid decline. That clinic has a front office staff that I am not sure is properly trained to provide decisions on what is important and what is not. No one assures you that a tech or vet will be with you soon. Sudden onset of a bloody diarrhea in a 16 year old dog is defiantly an emergency. With wait time considered...a lab tech could’ve come to at least draw blood and run tests while we waited for a vet to access the problem. I will never go back to this clinic and would not advise anyone to take an older pet to this emergency clinic! There is a lack of qualified professional care and concern at the front counter, and who knows if a proper diagnosis is being given to the qualified veterinarians on staff!

if I could give less of a star, I would. while I appreciate the strenuous hours the staff puts in, I'd appreciate it a whole lot more if they genuinely cared about the well being of my FAMILY MEMBER. their main concern is how you're going to pay them. my husband and I have been here for over two hours and have seen 3 different women -multiple different times- and have only heard ONE thing about the well being of my kitten; every other word out of their mouths ended in dollar signs, quotes and the hopeful hint at a credit card swipe. if you don't have the means to pay for service day of, you're expected to apply for a credit card. the people here are very money hungry unless you're in a dire emergency I DO NOT/WOULD NOT EVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

We live in the Aleutian Islands, with no resident veteranarian. We are a 3 hour flight from the nearest city, IF the planes are even flying. The horror of partially crushing my own dog under the wheel of my car was intensified by the helplessness of having no animal hospital nearby. We were fortunate to make it in on a flight the next afternoon. Diamond Animal Hospital took our "Julia" in right away, took X-rays and assessed the critical situation. The cost was far less than I imagined for both the hospital stay and the treatment, The facilities were clean and the veterinarians that treated and monitored Julia appeared to communicate her case well with one another. They cared for Julia beautifully, I know, because even in her pain it was obvious that she felt very comfortable with the staff. Finally, a service I didn't know about- if I could not have made it in on the flight, Diamond Animal Hospital would have met her dog crate at the airport and transported her to their Anchorage hospital. They would, as well, have been able and willing to return her to the airport and get her on a flight home to us, ensuring she arrived home to us safely. The good news is that not only did our dog recover, but we found a wonderful pet connection in Anchorage. Whether for regular visits and healthcare, or for, as in my case, bush area emergency services, Diamond Animal Hospital is our family choice.

When I arrived there was no one in the waiting room and only one other pet in the treatment rooms. I sat in the waiting room for TWO HOURS! Not once did they say anything to me letting me know what the deal was or why it was taking so long to get my dog in. I went up to the desk after the fruit hour to ask how much longer and she said I was next. Then an emergency dog showed up and they wheeled it right in. Now I get that emergencies take precedence over stable animals but if there were techs available to take care of that animal (and I think I counted 9 different techs not including the front desk girl or the doctor) how come they couldn't look at mine? Their customer service is terrible and not once did the front desk girl look at me while she was talking to me (or more appropriately, while I was talking to her). My poor dog will have to suffer through the night until tomorrow. They wouldn't even give me any pain meds for the poor lil guy. :(

HORRIBLE PLACE TO TAKE YOUR DOG FOR URGENT CARE!! RATHER THAN BEING CONCERNED FOR THE WELL-BEING OF YOUR PET, THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU CAN PAY THEM FOR THEIR OUTRAGEOUS QUOTES. I COULDN'T AFFORD STICHES FOR MY DOG BUT I WAS ABLE TO AFFORD THE STAPLES WHICH IS THE CHEAPER VERSION, BUT THEY GAVE MY DOG STICHES OUT OF COURTESY WHICH I WAS SO VERY GRATEFUL UNTIL THE VERY NEXT DAY, THE STICHES STARTED TO COME UNDONE. I WENT BACK AND SHOWED THEM AND YOU CAN TELL WHOEVER DID THEM DID NOT DO THEM CORRECTLY. EVEN THE PERSON AT THE FRONT DESK SAID IT WASN'T DONE CORRECTLY, THEN TRY TO TAKE IT BACK WHEN THE VET SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE ENTIRE SURGEORY AGAIN, AND I POINTED OUT THAT THE PERSON WORKING THE FRONT DESK EVEN NOTICED THAT THE STICHES WERE NOT SOWN CORRECTLY. THEY ARE MONEY HUNGRY VULTURES. JUST THE WAY THEY CAME AT ME ABOUT THE WHOLE THING, YOU CAN TELL THEY DON'T REALLY GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOUR PET.

This is not our regular veterinarian shop, but this was a Friday and we couldn't get our nine-year-old pitbull in to see anyone at our usual vet. We've had the same vet for around 20 years, through multiple cats and dogs. So being unable to get in, our vet made a couple recommendations that places that would be able to take us right in, one of which was Midnight Sun Animal Hospital. I called and confirmed first, and then we drove over our boy. They took him right in, diagnosed him, and got us heading home with medicine and treatment regimen in hand. They rock! Seriously, if we ever need to change vets, we would immediately count on Midnight Sun to become our regular vet for our "kids". Thanks, Midnight Sun, for your great service and excellent vet services!

This place is always a rip off. They charge insane amounts. We have taken our pets here numerous times and each time I feel like we’ve been highly overly charged. I will say the care is ok but the price is unfair and I decided its time to review on that. I wouldn’t recommend them unless you wanna pay outrageous prices every single time.

Had a friend bring in there coonhound with a broken leg and when he came out of surgery the x-ray showed that his leg was not aligned. They where not sure about themselves of there work. They where hard to get ahold and there dog was in so much pain after they came back to the island. They said after 2weeks he should be moving around. It was over a month and he was in so much pain and had inflictetion inside of him so we had to put him down cuz he was pain and misery. they willing to take the money out of there hands for something that they didnt fix right.

Felt uncomfortable talking to the staff I spoke to five different staff members in less than fifteen minutes. $265 to euthanize a small cat seems like a lot. I personally won't return to Dimond Animal hospital

My dogs and cats have always received great care for various issues. Recently had to make an unplanned stop with one of my dogs on Easter Sunday. He received excellent care.

Awful

One of the two workers at the front desk is more concerned about filling in computer fields then providing customer service. I often get this response when I go here. I don't understand why they don't just focus on providing medical help to their paying customers instead of getting all concerned over their paperwork. I think their values are goofed up, medical help should be number 1; computer data or paperwork should not be.

What a horrible place. I was planning to have my ailing 15-year-old beloved dog cremated at Harthaven after being put to sleep, but she died in the night on,a Friday. Harthaven is closed on the weekends, and this miserable place (which Harthaven lists on their page) won't store my dog's remains, unless I pay THEM TO PAY HEARTHAVEN EVEN MORE for the same cremation. To add insult to injury, the only, options for cremation through this vet are the group (where you don't get your own pet's ashes back) or the wildly expensive private cremation. The middle-of-the-road group cremations (multiple pets cremated together, but separated to ensure you get your pet's remains) offered by Harthaven aren't even an option through this money-grubbing establishment. DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Susie Russell

Worst biggest wast of money ever what a joke all I have to say is don't go if you want to wast time and money just give it to me ill get on you tube and fix your cat lmao

Ashley Palembas

The front desk girl is awful. I got my cat spayed and asked why it was on the higher end of the estimate when they said there wasnt any complications and they couldnt tell me anything. So I asked to see the break down and the lady rudely hands it to me and goes "that Is how much it is". I didnt ask for sass... I asked to see why. Which btw took me one second to look and see that it was my kitties medicine that made it cost more... Which of course I was fine with. All the lady had to do was explain that the medicine cost was added on. Instead of going "uh idk it's still in between your estimate". Gee not helpful at all. I just wanted an explanation to understand the break down. The staff in the back are very nice and helpful but, I won't be coming back because of the front desk lady... this is my second experience with her and she obviously doesnt understand customer service.

Jose Perez

This place is so greedy for money. They not only take advantage when there's a crisis but charge for office visits at $65 for a rabies vac. plus the rabies fees which I didn't even wait to listen for that fee. It's obvious they "specialize" in emergency situations where people are emotionally compromised so they can give you their evaluations$$$$$!

Angel Carder

Horrible, they take forever and charge way too much.

Kevin Cross

Izzie was 17 years old when she had a seizure that she did not recover from. The staff at Diamond Animal Hospital was extremely kind and gentle in her last moments. I'm so happy they were there for us.

Ryan Kauzlarich

This place has basically become my go-to Vet for everything. I used to just take my grrls here during off hours when they had something wrong, but now I take them here for most everything. We recently had to put one of our dogs down, she was 12 and most likely had a stroke. They took care of her for a week, charged us the minimum possible (much lower than I had expected it to be) and when the time came to put her down they were so understanding and comforting. They brought her a "last supper" of M&Ms and cat food and assorted dog foods and left me hold her until the end. They even sent us a condolences card in the mail signed by all the staff with notes about how much they enjoyed taking care of our grrl. They're not money hungry, they care, and if it's busy but your pet has an emergency they will given them priority when it's required. I cannot say enough about Diamond Animal Hospital, they really are some of the best, especially for emergency treatment or after hour needs.

This place sucks, they only care about taking your money. Very unprofessional workers in the front they were eating and chewing their food while talking to us. Asked them the price and they said $160, was consulting with my bf real quick and they looked at us as if we didn’t have money and so they were about to hand my puppy back and basically have us go home. After getting my puppy checked they ended up telling me the price was $186 instead.

Archinto .

The clinic has a very friendly staff, and their specialist helped my iguana when her arm broke. I highly recommend this clinic for exotic pets! Dr. Doty knows exotics and has a lot of experience helping them.

We got our first puppy, Lily, on Friday, and by Tuesday, she was vomiting and had diarrhea really bad, by Thursday we were sending her into Anchorage to be treated for Parvo. It was a scary emotional time for us because we didn't know if she would make it. I started calling vets 2 days before trying to figure out what was wrong and the first 2 places I called wouldn't even talk to me about her saying they're not allowed to give any suggestions. When I called Diamond Animal Hospital, the whole staff was absolutely helpful and caring. They helped walk me through everything at home to keep her going. By the time she arrived at their facility, I'm sure just about everyone there was expecting her and knew everything that was going on and started helping her right away. I called 3 times a day to check on her and they were all extremely helpful and I could tell they cared about her well being as much as I did. They were always chipper and never made me feel like I was bothering them(tho I'm sure I was!). I love the fact that there was someone always there checking on her and that I could call at all times of the night and talk to someone. They quoted me a price, and the actual bill was considerably less. They also sent her home with 2 more shots so that I could do them and know that they weren't tampered with. I am so happy that Lily went there and if she ever has to go to a vet, I wont hesitate in sending her there!

Our puppy was sick for the first time late at night and Midnight Sun helped accommodate us for visits and updates. They have a wonderful staff with great customer service. The doctors were very knowledgeable and had great bedside skills.

We live out in the Alaskan Bush, with no vet for 400 miles. When our dog started peeing blood and throwing up, we sought out a recommendation from our local dog rescue who pointed us to Midnight Sun. She is a very large pup (125lbs and lanky), and hates being away from her people, so I was nervous about shipping her out without us. From the moment she arrived at Midnight Sun, they were kind and communicative. They let me know when she arrived, and the vet herself (not a vet tech or receptionist, which is often the case) called to discuss her care, asking permission prior to performing X-rays, and patiently answering my questions even though it was late in the evening. I am also in the medical field, which I did not disclose to her doctor at that time, and I was very impressed with how through she was, and how she spoke to me. She clearly is an animal lover and not just there for the income. I believe it was Doctor Hefley that I spoke with, but I'm not positive as it was late and I was exhausted. Luna had to spend the night due to flight times, and was to fly out the following day, but an incompetent courier service resulted in a second overnight stay. At this point I was really anxious to get my pup home, and I was delighted when one of the employees, Darby, called and asked if I would like pictures of Luna to settle my mind. Obviously I said yes. She was not in a crate, but a playpen with toys, getting attention from staff (I will say, she is a pro at getting attention ;) ) In regards to the cost of treatment: Yes, it's expensive. However, $200 for an X-ray is pretty standard at a vet. Vet fees vary for an office visit, but this is an emergency vet, so just like an ER visit for people, you have to assume a higher exam cost. This is not a lot cost clinic, however in being a pet owner, one must understand that there might be an emergency. And unlike other vets that we have been to, we were not charged for repeat x-rays that they did to "double check" their own work the following morning. Being a pet owner in a place that requires a flight and a courier to get my pup to the vet, I'm grateful that a place like Midnight Sun is there to treat her with compassion.

Walk ins are ok!

Priscilla Susook

The staff here are very friendly; We really appreciated the genuine care and response we received when our cat wasn't feeling too well. The technicians took great care of her - and Dr. Hefley is amazing! Even for an emergency filled night (we did have to wait for a couple of hours to be seen) the Technicians were still very attentive. We highly recommend this hospital!

Branislav Djordjevic

Outrageous prices and unpleasant service

Hostile Hare

Excellent office staff, helped me when I needed it!

Gustavo Coreas

If you care about your pet, please don't take them here. Front desk people have awful customer service and not knowledgeable.

Roseanne Hutchison

This clinic is BUSY. The vets here care, the staff are great! Overall, I love this clinic. I have had a few "emergencies", like others I had to wait an excruciatingly long time but that is because of the priority of my emergency. This clinic works a lot like the ER for humans, cases are seen as soon as the staff can but if a dog/cat comes in dying - your cat/dog will have to wait on their hang nail. This rating is based on the price/hours available. I have been to other pet ERs and did not have a great experience. This place does operate like a business, so don't expect the staff to get on their knees and give baby talk to your pet. After reading all of the other reviews, I think a lot of emotion went into the rating. Any vet surgery is expensive, all you can compare is the quality of life for the pet or lack of. I have brought so all three of my dogs here through the years. I would recommend coming here before going somewhere else.

Sheri Lee

Without a doubt the worst experience my baby has ever had! This place calls itself an "emergency hospital!" We were told to come in to rule out an emergency abcess...when we arrived our boy was never triaged! We waited for over 3 hours! When we asked the laughing receptionists at the front desk how much longer it would be they could not remember our dog's name! RUN from this place!! I am a solid paying customer and was treated with so MUCH disrespect and zero compassion. DON'T waste your time or money here. I only wish I could give this place ZERO stars. It is NOT WORTH ONE STAR.

Tweety G

The big guy who was at the front desk was rude and did not try to help the situation AT ALL. So apparently one of their workers picked up my dog on a Saturday morning because he "looked lost". I live almost two blocks away from this clinic and was mowing my lawn with my dog. They took him to their clinic and called the pound. I have a tracker on him so when I went to get him from the clinic, the man at the front desk said i will have to pick him up at the shelter because they already called them. I said "Can't I just get my dog back since I'm here already?" Because that makes no sense. He said no and proceeded to the next customer. I went outside to make a call and a lady came out with my dog saying sorry for the inconvenience and that I can have my dog back. The issue I had was not bacause I couldn't have my dog but the attitude and rudeness of that one person. He wasn't even trying to be helpful at all!

Rodney boudreaux

These people are crooks. Brought my dog in to have two epilis removed from her mouth. They told me she also needed her k-9 tooth removed. Quoted me $1,608.00 on the low side and $2,241.00 on the high side. I took my dog to another local vet for a second opinion. He quoted me $573.00 low and $613.00 high. Her K-9 tooth is fine and extraction is not required. Diamond animal hospital/midnight sun failed to recognize a heart murmur she had had since birth. Incompatance and price gouging seem to be their business model. I left a message with the office manager but have yet to receive a call back. Not worth the one star I had to give them.

Jazmins Mom

First visit ever here and last too, we went in for a minor emergency with my pup in the evening around 9, the receptionist was very unprofessional first she didn't even acknowledged when we walked in after a couple minutes she looked up and said "Is that the idiot who jumped out of the car?" there were a few more derogatory comments about dogs after that, as a concerned pet parent it was offensive and unkind. The Technician or DV Cat was great we were put at ease, she was straight forward and I was happy with her. On the way out however the Receptionist asked if we new someone who had the same name, then she proceeded to tell us how back in the day she used to" party and do a lot of drugs with this person" honestly I was appalled and it was embarrassing for my little sister, considering it was our parent. So for Cat I give Kudos for Reception I give NONE.

Luna Llama

They really only care about money. We took out doh there to have emergency surgery and all they cared about was how we were paying. $6,000 later, we ended up having to put her to sleep because of complications. She was with us for a long time, longer than her expected living expectancy, and all the hospital could say is "we don't know what is wrong."

The Little Wood Shop Vlogs

Wow, I am blown away by some of the reviews I've come across on here so far. Let me start off with saying that I love this animal hospital and I wouldn't take my pet anywhere else. The last visit I had here I was lucky enough to get the owner of the hospital to service my golden retriever for an ear infection and food allergies. After her thorough inspection of Copper, she spent the next 25 to 30 minutes on the floor with my pup educating me on all types of allergies that could be affecting him. Leaving me feeling grateful and Copper feeling great and at ease about his experience, as his last wasn't so great when we had to shave around his hot spots due to a bad chicken allergy. Once it was time to check out and collect his meds I had assumed my bill would be sky high due to the ear swabs, meds and time she spent with me and my dog. I was only charged for an office visit at $65 plus his meds. Which BTW are far more expensive to fill anywhere else. I understood the pricing as I had been here for this issue once before and I had already established my dogs as patients. They are far from Money Hungry...but as any business they have exspenses to cover as do we all, and as does any business in order to strive in this economy. The receptionist that has been there for years is always great. When I dont see her and I see someone new, no they aren't as great as they are new and we all know how hard it can be to fill this position and keep people in this position for long periods of time. If you've ever ran a business this you would understand. I'm not there for the receptionist...Im there for the vets, which are the best. Hope this helps those who are considering making this hospital your family vet. Yes, if you're there and dont have a scheduled appointment you will wait your turn as they deal with emergencies.

Buck Chris

Excellent services and technical staff. Best Standards of Care practice I've found. Wait times can be long, yes, but its a busy 24 hour Emergency Hospital (not just a clinic) that sees very sick and injured pets while serving all of South Central & Western Alaska, so I understood and was patient as my visit was a non-emergency. I've lived in Anchorage since 1965 and have had cats & dogs here for over 40 years - the staff at this hospital truly care about their patients.

Ashley Mason

Won't ever take our dog there again. First and last time. One of the ladies at the desk called my dog an IDIOT right to my husbands face. Don't take your animal there if you want proper care.

My first time and my last time I take my dog to this place . The two stupid receptionist in front they both don't know how to talk to people and care about dog. They both doing bad job . I don't why they work with animals because they don't look liked they liked animals. They work there because the money .

During my pug Kujo's treatment at Diamond Animal Hospital (DAH) for kidney failure, we were advised to feel free to call with questions; however, calls went repeatedly unreturned. We were not even notified when Kujo's ashes were ready to come home; but the most disturbing set of circumstances were when in Kujo's final moments the technicians didn't even attempt to make him the least bit comfortable. It took the technician forever to place the catheter, and then to my anguish we were told to place Kujo on the cold hard table/scale. Since the technician insisted on not weighing him in his bed, I do not understand why we couldn't have at least been offered the option of placing a blanket beneath him. In my grief I merely did as I was directed and the memories now torment me. DAH caused my beloved Kujo undue pain and distress.

I had just arrived in town with my 1 year old Corgi and I took him here as a walk-in because it appeared that he had been scratched in the eye by another dog. The wait was very reasonable for a walk-in, the vet and vet tech were very friendly and knowledgeable and within 30 minutes examined him, tested the pressure in his eye, informed me that the ocular structure was intact and it looked like a bite rather than a scratch, gave him a light pain med and steroid cream and sent us on our way. I would definitely recommend this vet!

Jae .

I called a few weeks before to try and schedule an appointment but the receptionist informed me they only take walk-ins on the weekend. We arrived to get a checkup for our cat to make sure he was healthy before getting him neutered, this was around 12:45 pm. I asked about how long the wait would be and they said an hour. We waited about 3 hours to even see someone, they checked temp, weight and said he would need a mandatory rabies shot. Doctor briefly spoke to us and did not tell us it was ok to leave, we waited another half hour until someone came in to say "You're still here?" The entire trip took over 4 hours. And I was charged 100 dollars for someone to look at the cat for less than 10 mins. Very disappointing trip. I would not recommend this place.

Sara Shumway

They definitely care about animals! I live out in Valdez, and the only vet in town's been out of town so I called Midnight Sun. Even though there was no way for them to profit off it, they let me talk to a vet about my little dog's sudden sickness and told me how to take care of her until the local vet opens. I am so grateful to them for giving me a plan of action, when before I was just helplessly watching my pet suffer. These folks love animals.

Emm B

Love this place, I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else!! Best veterinarian team and most knowledgable in the state!

Courtney Swartz

Would give ten stars if it were an option. Midnight Sun (prev. Diamond) has been the go-to emergency clinic for our animals for several years. From porcupine quills, to stitches, to major surgery, I would not choose another place. Recently had to put one of my pets to sleep; it was a chronic condition that had reached the point that quality of life wasn’t going to recover, so it was not as if we needed to be seen quickly. My animal, my partner and I were given a quiet place to rest/wait to be seen. It was a busy night, and the clinic staff truly had their hands full, but they made sure to keep us apprised of what was going on, and assured us that we’d not been forgotten. The wait, in any case, gave us some much-needed quiet time with our pet, and was much appreciated. When our animal was able to be seen, the tech/nursing staff, as well as the doctor, were completely respectful, appropriate, and thorough. We’d called ahead and let the clinic know what we were coming in for, but the doc still broached the subject gently and laid out a good plan of care for euthanasia. The staff’s “bedside manner”, needless to say, was excellent. From walking in the door, to having to say good-bye, I don’t think we could have been in better hands. Thanks for all that you do. I can’t recommend this place more. Regards, C. “Taylor” Swartz and D. Devenport

Will Reid

This place is absolute trash. You have to pay 70$ just for an exam, which for me included the Dr. taking all but 5 minutes to look at my dog, which she was extremely terrified of. They definitely don’t promote an environement that is welcoming to pets or owners. It was the most unwelcomed visit I have ever expirenced, and would definitely not recommend taking your pets to this vet. Had I read some of the reviews below I would have avoided this place. Lesson learned.

Alejandra Guzman

Terribly unprofessional money grubbing facility .

A Shark

We will be eternally grateful to this hospital. They were very kind and considerate, and very generous with the billing. Highly recommend. Thank you for caring for our Stanley.

Tasha Eason

They always take good care of my Rin & are super patient with him when he's anxious or loud . They also explore every option so I don't wind up paying an arm & a leg for things that are simple fixes . Whenever I call with stupid questions they're always very understanding and get me the information I need without having to lug my guy all the way to the office .

Kevin Lewellyn

Very caring and helpful. We have a cat who loves to eat items causing obstructions. We have had Diamond Animal Hospital perform two operations and both outcomes were successful. We also had to put our sons hampster down and we received a hand written sorry for your loss card from all the staff. It’s nice to know they care. Even for a small hampster. For the people complaining about price I recommend getting your animals on trupanion or some kind of pet insurance. Be a responsible pet owner and know animals cost money. You would not deny your child medical care, your pets are family to. Keep up the great work Diamond Animal Hospital!

They've always taken great care of our Pomeranian. Our favorite vets.

Their staff and vets always go above and beyond.

Suzanne Hammond Wilson

My 6 mo old Great Pyrenees, Maddie, had a small stem of a rose bush caught in her mouth/throat and they had it out in less than a minute. Great service!

Benita Moore

Would like to give them a big fat o on their rating they worked on my coonhound and tried to fix a broken femur bone which in turn did a real sloppy job so I consultated with 3 other vets which agreed and said that the surgey was done very sloppy but they sure wanted the money before they started so we had to put our dog down he got so sick with infection talk about a hard thing to do a piece of our family is gone thanks to them would not recommend them to anyone all they care about is the money not the animal we are very upset about this . Do Not Go To This Place Ever

Jessica Walters

I always have to wait almost 4 hours every time I’ve been here. The front desk girl was rude usually they are very nice. The veterinary staff are super friendly. Today there was only one person in front of me on the wait list my dog was throwing up blood and I was told it wouldn’t be long but waited 3 hours and still hadn’t been seen so I went up the road to another clinic and they took me instantly. I’m not sure why a dog throwing up blood wouldn’t be an emergency but they didn’t seem to care. The two stars are just for the vet staff that I’ve seen in prior visits.

Chad Campbell

This is the worst clinic in the world. Sarah should do a commercial and charity to shut this place down...

We had a great experience with Midnight Sun. We were there about 2 hours from the time we walked in to the time we walked out. Not too bad for an emergency walk-in clinic. Staff was compassionate and kind the whole way through. The front desk and tech kept us up-to-date on our wait time and spot in line even without us asking for them to do that. Price was reasonable compared to other emergency vets we’ve used other places. I was seriously prepared to pay twice as much as we did. Additionally, the Tech and Dr. were both very kind to our scarred dog. She was more at ease than she usually is at the vet and we really appreciated the extra time they spent to make her comfortable.

Robert Landers

Used to be a customer but the last couple times I took my dog in for "emergency" services, the quality of care was not up to par.

Carol R Harmon Bowling-Young

I'm sad to see how "some" others could have had a bad experience with this hospital. They saved my Deb. A small, 10+ year old dog that had belonged to my deceased son. She is Priceless to me. She needed Emergency hysterectomy or she would not have made it til morning. She was in Very bad shape & the surgery was quoted as expensive, but the Dr worked with me to get the costs down & got me some minor donation assistance. I Gave her what we had to, to save her life because I wasn't ready to loose her. I think about the fact that would it have been nearly any other day, no, I would not have been able to come up with even the reduced costs. That scares me. I know I was lucky that day. Surgery is expensive. Doesn't matter if it's Human OR Animal. This is sad, but it's a fact. That is not in my opinion, poor medical care. The simple truth is, they were very caring & they saved her life.

Brad Gamblin

These folks are wonderful, very sensitive and caring vets and techs that really care

Duane Sismour

Took over 4 hours to get my dog seen after people jumped in front and me mentioning that she was getting antsy. But after getting back they took 30 minutes for the vet to get in the room but was very knowledgeable about what might be the cause.

Lila Vogt

My entire extended family uses this clinic for all of our dogs. They have always been friendly, helpful and compassionate towards animals and their owners. My son's dog has had two surgeries to remove items from his gastrointestinal tract and they were great both times. I find their charges reasonable. I had a rescue pup that had some serious neurological issues and they worked with me for two years, trying everything to come up with a solution. She eventually had to be euthanized, but it wasn't for their lack of trying every possible treatment. I recommend this clinic to everyone.

Bernadette McLaughlin

Waited 2 hours for a walk in but when they finally took us in it was quick and easy. The doctors were very kind and helpful

Don’t bring your animals you love here unless it’s an absolute emergency. No follow up, and you can’t get any even get a follow up if you beg for it. They use the excuse of being one of the only 24 emergency places, but it is just an excuse for their money making. Understaffed, rude, and heartless. Just a place taking advantages of our unfortunate circumstances and could care less once they have your credit card number and are done with the a visit. After that good luck. Front desk is the worst experience I have had with sharing a life with a pet in my life 40 years plus. If you love your pet, go somewhere else if possible.. They don’t care, just want the money. Highly understaffed to even how the market themselves as an emergency animal hospital. The most rude or burned out front desk ever. I have been in customer service for years and this staff is far beyond anything I would want in my business

Claire Bourquin

I am forever grateful to the staff of Diamond Vet Center. My husband and I brought our English Bulldog here after he nearly suffocated to death because a blocked airway and aspiration pneumonia. The vets and technicians cared for my bulldog, Winston, 24 x 7 for 10 days. Dr Mehlman and Dr Diedrich, and dr Varmon were very understanding and patient with us as I asked a million questions about Winston's condition and treatment. They called with updates and took 3 calls from me per day while Winston's prognosis was guarded. Nikkia and Chelsey suctioned Winston's trach tube all hours of the night and watched over and cared for him as if he were a newborn baby. These people basically had to watch my Winston basically dying despite their best efforts and also listen to me cry when they gave me updates. I don't know how they did it. By some miracle, Winston started improving, but it was a roller coaster ride of improvements and setbacks. This is now Winston's second night home and I am so happy. i think that Winston will ultimately be able to breathe better than before this whole nightmare started bc of a skilled surgeon, Dr Priddy, whose help Diamond Animal Center enlisted. I can't think of a much harder job and these folks do it fabulously. I wish I could think of a better way than a review to thank these individuals. I am pretty sure I would be saying these things even if Winston hadn't survived.

These guys are so wonderful--they took care of our dog when she was having heart issues and they really care about animals. I think they are the best vets in town.

Staff is super awesome, and genuinely seem to care for your pet's wellbeing, happiness and comfort. My dog actually doesn't seem to mind going there..except when he gets a thermometer up the butt.

This place truly does care about your money before anything else. We arrived last night and the first receptionist seemed a little lost like she might have been new, the second receptionist that came out was extremely rude and snappy to not only myself, but the first receptionist. Before they took our dog back the tec looked at us and then turned to the receptionist and said "make sure you get a deposit from them". After the process of creating an account for us the rude receptionist was rushing us for a deposit even though I said multiple times it was covered. She then said "we need that deposit, now. The IVs and fluids are ready". $850 is A LOT of money and I needed to make sure the funds would go through, but this woman was rushing me and making me feel horrible in an already rough and emotional situation. The vet seemed hurried as well like she wasn't willing to fully explain what was going on.

WARNING!!!! Do not have your pets treated here! I adopted a new cat from Anchorage Animal Control and noticed some sneezing and discharge from the nose and eyes. There were a number of cats at AAC that were being treated for Upper Respiratory Infection so I brought the new cat to Diamond Animal Hospital for a check up before introducing into my home with my other two cats. After having to wait OUTSIDE on a very hot day with my new cat I was called in for the exam to start. I was not even allowed in the room with my pet while they were being examined. After about 3 hours of waiting the "exam" was over in about 5 minutes and I was told my new cat did not have an Upper Resp. Infection and it was OK to introduce her to my other two cats. That's exactly what I did and now my other cats have the exact same symptoms the new cat had (sneezing, coughing, hacking, discharge from eyes and nose). I called Diamond and explained the situation and was told the veterinarian would call me back. It has been 3 days and I have not heard anything. I believe this animal hospital is giving false diagnosis of pets in an effort to rush people through the service. I will NEVER trust them with the care of my pets again and if your smart and love your animals, you won't either! The fact this place is spending all kinds of money to remodel there facility means nothing if the money comes from scamming people at the expense of their pets health. UPDATE: The very day after posting this I did receive a call from Diamond Animal Hospital but was told straight away it was in response to what I posted on Facebook and then was asked where I wanted my records sent because obviously I didn't want to bring my pet back there and then was told "the feeling is mutual". What kind of customer service is this? I then went back to their Facebook to update my review and they blocked me. This business clearly only cares about one thing... and it's money not your pets well-being.

As far as their services. My daughters dog had a displaced hip. After $1,500 he had to have surgery( at a better vet) who said that it should never have been handled how Diamond did. Today I called them for a small dog with severe breathing issues. After an hour waiting I left after being treated horribly by a female behind the counter. I came to another vet and was taken directly in for treatment. Don't make the mistakes I've made giving Diamond Animal hospital another chance.

The clerks were rude and didn’t seem to care. My pet was throwing up stomach acids every 5-10 minuets and they didn’t see that as an emergency. They were gonna make me wait 2-3 hours. And made me wait outside. Also I suggest going to Pet Emergency Treatment!

My little girl has had numerous MAST cell tumors, each time we have went to Dimond Animal Hospital. They have been great with diagnosing and treating her conditions. She has had 3 major surgeries, but I can tell you I would not still have my little girl if it wasn't for there care.

First time coming here. Just awful. Terrible customer service - indifferent and rude. Other people in front of me waited hours. Also waited hours to be seen for my cat. Apparently emergency for them means something entirely different. Never coming back. Would give 0 stars if I could.

I have been taking my pets to this place for 15 years. I was disheartened to hear that when my adult daughter took her new pound adopted kitty in for a check up this morning, they were all very rude to her. She even said that the doctor was short tempered with her poor 9 year old cat. I'm so sad to hear how this place has gonna down hill. My own 14 year old kitty is due for a check up and now I don't want to take her there.
