As soon as we get close to the building my dog will literally pull me inside, even if he is under the weather I can tell his spirit is lifted once he realizes we are on our was to one of his favorite places. I appreciate their late hours and have never had an issue getting in for an appointment. There are plenty of vets much closer to where we live but it is worth the drive into Old City

I'd just like to say that, for the most part, the people here were courteous and respectful. I had a horrible experience at this vet. I will concede that they have a state of the art facility and lots of high tech gear. And yes, they have secretaries and intake nurses who will call you to the room not by YOUR name, but by the name of your animal (who, newsflash people, does not know what you are saying). But a fancy machine and a bunch of nurses does not a good vet make. It started when I brought my cat in because she had problems with her teeth/gums. The doctor informed me that she had stomatitis. He also informed me that it would cost $1,500 - $2,500 to fix this problem. That included putting her under, x-rays, blood tests, a tooth cleaning, and possible extraction of 1 or perhaps even ALL of her teeth. It also included payment for the vet AS WELL AS a separate anaesthesiologist. He told me that this was the only course of action. They even wanted me to schedule the appointment for the following week and make an immediate down payment of half of the low end of the estimate, along with paying right then and there for blood tests. And some of the itemized costs were ridiculous. One of the costs for a single tooth extraction, not including costs for drugs, xrays, etc, was over $500! For the record, they really lay it on thick here, pulling out all the stops to make you feel guilty. There is nothing more sinister than playing on the fears and concerns of caretakers, whether they are caring for animals or people. I was beside myself. I did not have $1,500 to spend on my cat at this point. If you have that kind of money, thats great; come to this bourgeois vet. If you dont have it, you will regret your visit. I came out feeling horrible. Instead of forking over thousands of dollars, I made an appointment with a nice little vet just outside of Philly. It is run by just ONE DOCTOR who I affectionately call the "cat whisperer" due to his ability to subdue my rambunctious (slightly violent) cat. (You can PM me for the name of the vet.) He gave me the SAME diagnosis but of course was able to help me at a FRACTION of the cost. Not to get into details, but it was under $400 for the same procedure and additional medications. The argument can easily be made that the care was inferior. I did not have an anaesthesiologist on hand. They did not do a cancer screen. But my cat is fine! She is so much healthier and happier, and I was able to schedule an appointment immediately instead of waiting until Thursday (the doctor at CCVH's "dental day"). But seriously, how did vets remove/clean teeth in the old days without private cat anaesthesiologists and fancy cancer scans? To reiterate, I don't really believe that these people are actually out to screw people or inflate costs. But I think that their trend towards expensive, slick looking care does not ALWAYS translate into better, more effective care.

The Doctors, and the staff are well trained, friendly, trustworthy and professional. I have not met one person there who doesn't go above and beyond to make sure your questions and concerns are handled. From their follow up emails/calls to their bedside manner, everything they do is 1st class. They run their office like you are part of their family! Nobody likes when their furry companion gets sick, but your furkid is in wonderful hands at Center City Vet.

THE BEST!! After adopting a sick stray puppy, we needed a vet within 24 hours and not only did CCVH fit us in, they were so gentle and caring as if he was their own dog. They examined him, got him to eat and treated him like a prince! Not only did they treat us both well in the office, they regularly followed up with us over the next couple of weeks to make sure he was still on the path to recovery. CCVH is the best for quick check-ups and sick-visits alike. Definitely recommend!

I cannot say enough good things about Center City Vet and Dr. Cohen. I adopted a miniature schnauzer last August and (of course) he needed major dental work-$1,200 worth of dental work. Never having owned a dog, I took my mini schnauzer to Dr. Cohen to have the operation. I was fraught with anxiety over the whole situation, but once I saw the facilities at Center City Vet and I met with Dr. Cohen and his staff I knew I had found my mini schnauzer’s life-long doctor. P.S. Even after the costly dental surgery, the care given to my dog by Dr. Cohen and his staff continues to be amazing.

I've been taking my two dogs here since we moved to Philadelphia 3 1/2 years ago. They are great. Every. Single. Person. Nice doctors, Nice front desk folks. Nice everyone. Just took my dogs today; we walked in the rain and my dogs were soaking wet. They brought towels and helped me dry my dogs. Spoke kindly to me and my dogs and treated them gently. I wish they could treat me. :)

When you arrive they always greet you and your pup with the biggest smile and go out of their way to make your pet feel safe! The vet techs are super knowledgeable and amazing at caring for your animals, they spend time getting to know your animal and they always send you an email after the visit to follow up on everything that was discussed. And then there is Dr. Cohen who is the most amazing vet! He is actually a dog whisperer, but also unbelievable at making the pet owners feel at ease and cared for. While I am so happy to have a healthy animal, I wish we spent more time with everyone at Center City Vet because they are all so wonderful! I learned of CCVH last year when we needed to book an urgent appointment and called around to see who might be able to take our kitty at about 6:30 PM on a weekday as an urgent new patient (as she was up-to-date with her visits when we adopted her). We've now been back twice for routine visits and vaccinations and are so impressed by the front desk and clinical staff. They even email to check on how she's doing after her appointments. I really feel like they care about her and are so warm and communicative - highly recommend!

I brought our 5 month old kitten into CCVH with an unknown ailment. He wasn't eating or drinking for days and I was legitimately worried for his life. It was our first visit to CCVH and I was thoroughly impressed by the cleanliness of the space and the pleasantness of the staff. Everyone was so nice! Dr Cohen took such care with us. He was right on time and never made us feel rushed. His exam seemed thorough and he was careful to inform me of what he was doing and what he was looking for. He also took the time to breakdown treatment options and their costs so I could be well informed and make careful decisions within our financial means and avoid any surprises. Just before getting ready to checkout, I noticed a poster about lilies being toxic to cats and my stomach dropped. We had lilies in our house, and although locked up most of the time, they were still accessible by our little ninja. It was possible that he ingested some pollen or residue causing him to be sick. Dr Cohen came BACK in immediately, did some investigative work,a and we decided on a new course of action to check his kidneys, which thankfully displayed normal levels. We decided on a few other options and went home to "wait and see". Thankfully our kitten began eating and drinking with some encouragement from some tasty wet food and by the end of the weekend he was almost back to his normal self. The whole team at CCVH was wonderful to work with and very professional. I felt that we and our kitten was well cared for and I found the prices of the various services fair. I wouldn't hesitate recommending someone to this vet office.

My first interaction with Center City Vet Hospital was 7:59 am they picked up the phone immediately and i said i needed to get my dog in as soon as possible. After the normal info swapping they said I could bring him in at 10 am. We got their a little early and were greeted as we entered. There was a little water fountain that was for animals which was so nice and everything was clean and organized. Brandy our pet technician was superb and very helpful with Henry(my girlfriend and I's dog). She gave him a little treat after inspecting him for which he was greatly appreciative. When Dr. Cohen came in he was extremely optimistic and enthusiastic to see Henry and get him better! When we were all done they set us up with his medication and before I knew it we were out the door on our way home. I can't thank the staff and Center City Vet Hospital enough for the help they gave me. I will be returning to them with any questions or needs and will recommend them to anyone who is in need of a Veterinary Hospital. Thank you again so much!

My hounds are my children so it's truly important to have a great veterinarian that treats them as more than just animals. CCVH is such a place. Dr. Cohen and his staff are animal people and it really shows. Everyone in the office is extremely friendly, helpful and willing to answer questions. This may seem like a given, but I've been to plenty of veterinarians where you felt like you were being rushed in and out just so they could move on to the next patient. Dr. C was always really great about spending as much time as needed, which was very much appreciated. Unfortunately, we had to leave CCVH as we moved to Denver. That said, Dr. C was even kind enough to give me a second opinion through email because I haven't fully come to trust my vet here. How's that for service? If you're looking for a truly great veterinarian, I can't recommend them enough.

Dr. Cohen has been my Bonnie's vet since we moved to Philadelphia 2 1/2 years ago. I have an older dog, Bonnie, who has many medical issues. I have never felt ignored or rushed and he has been there for me and spent a lot of time on all of our office visits. I cannot recommend this clinic enough.

Not one star because they really want you feel they are friendly which they did it. First but last because they put lots of service and medicines which is not necessary to make the bill incredibly expensive. They will convince you to do extra test, sell extra medicine so you will spend more than you expect. This is really a shameful act as a vet.

Dr. Cohen and his staff did a wonderful job with my very nervous Turkish Angora cat Purrl. When I noticed that Purrl had a quarter-sized sore on her belly, I was very concerned. I called Dr. Cohen's office, and we got a same-day appointment even though we had never been there before. He and his assistant handled Purrl very delicately. They shaved the area around the wound to prevent Purrl's long hair from growing into the wound as it was healing. They gave her skin staples and applied antibiotic ointment. They gave me medicine to administer to her in the days following the visit. They gave very clear, concise instructions. They kept Purrl calm and happy throughout the whole visit, which is a miracle in itself. Thanks Dr. Cohen, Natalie, and the rest of your wonderful staff for taking such good care of Purrl!

We and our pooch are new visitors/patients to Center City Vet and our experience has been very positive. From the office staff and vet techs, to the doctor spending an appropriate amount of time thoroughly explaining his/her diagnosis, I found the team to be top notch. Additional follow up, post visit regarding an ongoing issue has also been timely and well received. The cost for services is not the highest, nor is it the lowest, but the care is deserving of fees. I recommend them and feel the 5 star rating is certainly appropriate thus far. Keep up the good work!

We took our 2 cats to see Dr. Cohen (USDA certified vet so that we can bring our kitties with us when we move to Japan). Dr. Cohen and the entire staff that we encountered including Taylor the vet tech, and Catherine at the front desk-- they were all just so incredibly kind, professional, and helpful. AMAZING hospital. Every employee I came across in CCVH were the most professional and inviting people in a work environment. I was immediately able to tell how passionate each person was about their job. The way they greeted me, the promptness of the appointments, and most importantly, the way they treated my cat! I had the pleasure of finding out that he gets stressed out and hostile towards everyone when getting a routine check-up. And while he was defending himself against the doctors and assistants, they constantly wore a smile on their face, knowing the stress hospitals cause. It was such a pleasant experience knowing that all employees were confident in their own skills to handle all types of situations thrown their way. Hats off to Dr. Jogan (I apologize if I'm wrong my memory is awful) and Alyssa for treating Ninja with all the love and care I would have. THANK YOU CENTER CITY VET! I can not say enough about how fantastic this office is. Less than 4 days after I adopted a shelter pup, she started losing clumps of fur and skin on her back. In a panic, I reached out to CCVH, who I had already decided would be our go-to. Our pup had never been seen there before, and we hadn't made an appointment for a check-up yet. I explained to them that we were new, but she needed to be seen ASAP, and they squeezed us in WITHIN THE HOUR! Our vet tech, Taylor, was absolutely a joy to work with and our pup loved her. Dr. Jogan spent plenty of time with our pup and prescribed a few meds to help with what we now know was an allergic reaction. Both Dr. Jogan and Taylor took the time to calm us and make sure we knew how to care for our little patient. They also informed us of what to look for in case the wounds weren't healing as they should. It's also important to note that the prices were extremely reasonable! I would've paid whatever I had to to make sure my pup was ok, but they didn't use this emergency as a way to charge me outrageous fees. Their quality of care, pricing, and honesty has earned them a patient for life! Fast forward two days and, thanks to the knowledge Dr. Jogan provided us with, we recognized that our pup wasn't healing like we'd hoped. I called CCVH and they squeezed us in same day again. This time, we met Dr. Cohen. To say he was an absolute joy is an understatement! He was amazing with our pup who warmed up to him right away. He also recognized that she was not healing like we'd hoped, and took her to the back to get a better look. Turns out the reaction was worse than we thought and our lil lady needed to have a cut&clean. They did what they had to do in the back, and before bringing her out, Dr. Cohen took the time to come to us in the exam room with a picture so we would know what to expect when our pup came back in the room. I can't stress enough how kind this was - the wound sure wasn't pretty, and the warning helped us keep calm (for our sake and the dog's!) when she joined us back in the room. Our pup is now home and healing nicely, thanks to the team at CCVH! They keep up with us via email to check up on our pups progress, and even will look at pictures via email to confirm her progress. I can't thank them enough. The stellar care at CCVH is absolutely top-notch. We won't go anywhere else!

I had a great experience at CCV!! They were able to see both my 14 year old Persian Hemi and my nearly 2 year old dog Thor at the same time which made it extremely convenient!! My cat has a lot of issues and they were able to calmly talk me through the whole process and we came up with a next steps game plan. The most important thing was that my pets were comfortable. I love the fact that I didnt see another pet as it seems they staggered the apts, this helped both Hemi and Thor through the process. I scheduled another apt for 3 weeks, so happy with my decision to go there!!

I was very disappointed with this office. We had an appointment to take our kitten in for his first appointment and to check him for an infection. When I arrived, they had all our information but somehow lost the appointment. They checked to see if it was another date but there was just no appointment at all. I wasted a trip down there with a finicky cat and missed a class for no reason. We will look else where for vet care.

Center City Veterinary Hospital provides excellent care for our new rescue dog... and us! We are first time pet owners as a family and CCVH has been an immense source of support for us, offering immediate responses to our questions via email or calls. The staff is incredibly nice and patient. I never feel rushed out of the office and every technician gives us their personal card if we need further assistance. A bonus is that CCVH staff are "low stress handling" certified, meaning they know how to put your nervous pet at ease while in the exam room. This is not to be overlooked! I have been told that this is a special skill that not all vets offer. Last, the office is always clean and sparkly. I can tell that the staff take extraordinary care to make sure it does not "smell scary" to the animals, which makes all the difference. We are so impressed! Thank you CCVH!
