Dr. Burke took wonderful care of our sick sugar glider. Dr. Burke always made time to see our sugar glider on short notice and always spent plenty of time with him and was very kind and thoughtful. We really appreciate the work she does. Our two dogs and 3 other gliders think she is pretty cool as well.

I was once a customer of Alford Avenue vet clinic, I had two dogs that were with them for almost 30 years. They also saw my cat once and I never had a negative experience...But apparently over the years the staff has changed, The vets, vet techs and administrators, are some of the most rude, unprofessional, and condescending individuals that you will run into in your lifetime. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone know. This is sad because I was once a loyal customer in the past, when they had good people and decent human beings working for this clinic. There are so many other options in the Hoover and Birmingham area and I recommend that you consider anything and everything except for taking your loved animals to this location. (I have now spoken to 4 ER Vet specialist and they all disagree with Doctor Burke’s assessment of the time it takes, to execute a GDV surgery...just for the record)

This is a wonderful place to bring your pets! The vet/vet techs are great, super helpful and friendly! So many different things to choose from for your animals, from different types of flea and tick medication, foods, and lots more. This place is wonderful! I highly recommend it!

Awesome Experience... Love This Place Very Knowledgeable staff and friendly. We took our Cockatiel who was very sick 2 weeks ago. He is happy and healthy on his recheck today. The Vet knew what I was going to ask before I asked. They are open later than most and extremely compassionate. The price was better than reasonable.

I'm so glad we found this place. Our cat stopped eating after the brand we use changed their formula and we couldn't get him to eat anything else no matter what we tried. Once he started losing weight we took him here. They made us feel comfortable and spent some time getting to know our cat, asking good questions and inspecting the animal. They gave us a big sample of a prescription cat food thinking he had an allergy or sensitivity to something in the other foods. Sure enough our cat started eating it the next day and has been happily putting on weight since.

Worth the 2+ hour drive. By far the most outstanding clinic I have ever seen. The exotic animal vet there is never afraid to take on an breed she hasn't cared for before. They are friendly, nice, and always add that personal touch. I always know my peafowl are in good hands when taking them to Alford Avenue Vet

I adopted a kitten from kitty kat haven, a rescue located next to Alford ave vet. I was forced to take my kitten to Alford ave vet because they have some deal or agreement with the rescue. Basically it was either take my kitten to this vet or pay for the shots at another vet. (I paid for the shots and neuter at the time of receiving my kitten). Alford ave took weeks to update their system with the correct name of the kitten and that we were his owners, not fosters. He received his first set of shots the day we adopted him and they didn't update the info then. We had to go there two more times, 3 weeks apart for his shots etc. The receptionist who was operating today was so rude. She kept her head down the whole time we walked in and walked up to the counter. Checked out a customer who came up after us and after taking her sweet time finally got to us. Again we had to tell them we are the owners of the kitten, not fosters. The vet was waiting in the room upon arrival so I thought "great! We are going to do this without waiting much" he has his exam and last round of shots and the vet asks to do yet another fecal exam on him even though the last visit was negative and he had no diarrhea in the last 3 weeks. The tech said it would take 10 minutes. We waited 25 in the room before letting ourselves out and going to the checkout ourselves. The rude receptionist had the audacity to tell us they were still waiting on the fecal exam. I said "how much longer will it be cause its been about 30 minutes" she immediately walked to the office and brought us our paperwork and said it came back negative. What were we waiting for?? Wow. Talk about dragging your feet and having no respect for your customers time. I'm glad to say I'm done with this vet and kitty kat haven should really rethink making their customers go to this vet. I have my own vet I've taken all my fur babies to for years and I'd way rather go to someone I trust than someone who I don't know and have a horrible experience with.

We've been going to Dr. Burke for a few years now for our cats. She is the best vet we have ever had. She's taken exceptional care for our very sick cat Bubby and would highly recommend this veterinary clinic. Their prices are fair and you can rest assured that your pet is being taken well care of. Friendly and knowledgable staff. Clean environment. Generally a place that cares a lot about animals - its very clear of that. Kelly, the receptionist, is phenomenal! We can't say enough great things about this place!!

One of our budgees hit the fan last year. They were so nice, fixed Ollie right up; just needed a pain killer. We have an unnamed baby budgee that got bit by a big mean bird at Ed’s yesterday where my daughter works that we will take today!

This is the absolute best veterinary doctor's office I have ever encountered. I L O V E T H E S E F O L K S ! They are compassionate, and knowledgeable. If I were nonhuman, Alford Ave. Veterinary is where I would demand to be taken in Emergency Situation or the yearly check-up. This is important to me, and I believe it says something about a veterinary clinic, but it doesn't smell like poo. It's a happy place with happy people. If you live your animal, this is where you go.

This is a wonderful place staffed by great people. Dr. Frederick is a caring vet who will take time to explain everything to you and give you her experienced opinion on your options. This isn't some cold business. There is a very much a community/family vibe here, which makes caring for your pet during difficult situations so much more endurable. We have a several year history with this vet office, and could not ask for a better place. If your loved one is exhibiting strange symptoms, or you're a new parent that needs a trustworthy place to get established, your search should stop here. You will not find a better vet office.
