REVIEWS OF Eastern Washington University IN Washington

good school

Michael Sullivan

While visiting this institution, they strive to promote sportsmanship during athletic events, even making an announcement prior to the game, yet they don't even control their own band. I was entirely surprised at the POOR sportsmanship exhibited by this group. It sets a real bad example for the school. I hope that by leaving a review it might solicit some kind of response from the leadership of the university. I have visited numerous institutions of higher learning and I have not seen such a display of poor sportsmanship.

Eastern Washington University has truly impacted me and pushed me to a new level. I think Eastern is up coming and allows students great opportunity. It may have its flaws but has a inner push to always be better.

My past four years here at EWU have taught me a lot and have shaped the way I look at higher education. Coming from a small community I was a little frightened by the fact that there would be 10,000+ students on campus, but with the welcoming staff, professors and students I found that EWU was the right fit for me. In all four years here I have been challenged in a different way each year, and with the help and support of the faculty and professors I have seen that those challenges were just bumps in the road and that my supporters have taught me valuable life/career skills for my future. With our exceptional football team which is what drives the school spirit and pride, you can feel the excitement when game day rolls around and the students flood into the student section of the football stadium and root for their team whether they win or lose. This intensity of school spirit can be seen around many things and not just our athletic program, but with our student government, clubs and organizations and the many other opportunities Eastern offers. If given the chance to have another go at my college experience I would still keep on picking Eastern Washington University because of the many opportunities and experience this college has given me.

I absolutely love EWU. My professors are amazing and helpful, the VCD program is great, and the campus is perfect. Everything seems to be conveniently located (on or off campus), and there are tons of opportunities to get involved with the college. Tuition and fees are not horrible either. Over all, EWU is a great university, and I have thoroughly enjoyed being a student there.

The hardest part of getting your degree is signing up. Professors are great but administration is terrible. The website can be pretty confusing as well so be prepared. Sometimes you'll love this school but other times you wonder why you even bother to pay thousands of dollars to be treated like you're not important to them.

Eastern is a great university for those who want to have an international experience and also wants to know the best of American people. Besides the tuition and financial assistance you can get, EWU personnel are trained to offer a great customer service and make you feel home.

Christian Beal

I haven't gone to this University yet, but am in the process of enrolling and have had a great experience with the staff in answering all my questions. I've loved seeing the University grow over the years and love the improvements they've made. I am excited to be possibly going here.

Starlight Smith

Horrible customer service means horrible school! I called at 8:20AM and got an answering machine that kept giving the same message over and over again. No mention of hours of operation. No possible way to leave a message. I wouldn't send my dog here for training! Maybe my boyfriends cat? So I called a student and they said it was the worst college they attended and switched after the 1st semester. Don't go here.

Really happy with the quality of the education I have received at EWU. With the exception of a few lower division courses, all of my professors have been passionate, engaging, and thoroughly dedicated to their field. The government department here is a gem. While I am very satisfied with EWU generally, I would recommend caution with the online classes if you want to get the most out of your education. The ones I took were in the sociology department, and a joke is a fair way to describe the academic rigour. They may provide an easy A, but you'll get way more satisfaction in person.

Braden Loveland

Affordable and quality school.

Jonathan N

Thinlyly staffed and expensive student facilities such as Commons, Book store, Rec Center, coffee shops and other stores, making extremely long wait times. Inflexible policies not concerned with circumstance. Rec Center has stringent policies and distance GYM staff create unfriendly environment.

EVELYN ARIAS

This is a great University to attend because it gives you everything you need to be successful in life

Heaven Schultz

Just worst college ever take advantage by changing meals plans and not notifying g people so then when end quarter come you realize that it was changed behind your back they acknowledge that it was their fault but you still have to pay 800 dollars.

Rich Farrell

None around the internet for African American Studies if the administration does nothing to correct the U. will become known as the DOLLZALLIN EFFECT!

Stevie Vensel

It's a decent school. It's the only school in the area with a biology masters program, which is ridiculous.

Mustafa Al-Saedi

I love this school very much but Canvas always has glitches. The library computers are miserably slow also. You get what you pay for. The instructors and tuition costs make it worth while.

Juan Manuel Rodriguez Jr

Loved coming out here for National History Day, during the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 school years. Our regionals were held here and will always be held here. Both times were amazing, I will always love those two days in late February. both times I went for regionals, have convinced me to want to transfer there once I could. I love the city/town of Cheney, its nice and small, connected. The University is less than half an hour from Spokane, which is nice.

Lady Di

EWU needs a law to force students to live in the dorms because they can't compete with their sub-standard housing that is more than twice the cost of what's available in Cheney. Whether students can afford it or not, the university just loads them up with debt. That explains why 1 in 5 student loans are now in default. Guess who's paying for that? Taxpayers. YOU! (FYI: Student loans are exempt from bankruptcy. That means, you will have to pay that back no matter what!) This is the new normal: Government Forcing Us to Pay for Products We Don't Need or Want!

Ashley Quinn

You get what you pay for. Tuition is low but they get you by taking a 4 year degree and making it last 5. Too many students not enough room in classes, you can't get into classes you need because they accept more and more students every year. They have the worst advisors, everyone I know has said their advisors don't know what they are doing and have screwed them over with bad advice. My recommendation is to pick any other school. The graduation rate is ridiculously low. Going to eastern is one of my biggest regrets.

Aaron Hope

Good place to go on campus to make up for a college diet.

Cody Walker

Terrible experience so far. Changed degrees just to find someone who cares. The education department has been nothing but difficult to work with.

Mo

if you are international student or person of color, i advice you to not came here.

Best school for transfer students in Washington State. Hands down.

Ryan Hartwell

I heard nothing but great things about Eastern back when I was in high school. I was looking for a place that had a great theatre department, and art department. It did not disappoint. The teachers were very charismatic, caring, and willing to listen to your problems to help get your work done. The school is very diverse in terms of both student body and faculty. They focus on building foundations to improve relationships between the students and the school itself. There are also a lot of dining options either on campus, or in downtown Cheney. Either way, you get your money's worth. Being in a small college town, it's quite cozy and inviting. The sunsets are beautiful, the housing staffs are friendly, the police (both on campus and off) have a system where they interact with the students to gain a sense of safety and comradery. It allows students to know that they got your back. If you want something more exciting, take a bus down to Spokane for a movie, some shopping, dining, etc. As a student, admission is free for a 30 minute drive to Spokane. It's more of a large town than it is a city, which also makes it all the more inviting once you enter (in my opinion). Tips for incoming students: for long distance travel from class to class: bring a bike. It makes things a whole lot easier. If you don't have a bike, the closest bike shop is in Cheney called "Bicycle Time". The owner will set you up with a good pair of wheels in terms of both quality and quantity. Eastern takes pride in what they do in terms of their football team, the arts, social interaction, and a whole lot more to develop. I hope you find this review helpful and informative.

I love EWU! I just started this year so I suppose I don't have that much ground to stand on but I immediately felt welcome on campus, everyone in my dorm is awesome and my professors are all kickass. Psych major though, so mine are going to …

Lydia Quinones

It wasn't until after I attended another university, that I realized how much I'd learned at EWU. Despite the small town location, I found the teachers to be very good. I heard there were cutbacks in the past few years, so I'm not sure if the quality is still the same.

Greg wetstone

It's just Okay, maybe a little less than that. I have fun in the classroom and sometimes learn something, but the advisers are terrible. Department heads have a lot of control over what you can do, signing up for classes, changing majors, etc, and they are NEVER available. My current adviser was out of vacation for several weeks and I couldn't sign up for classes until I got her signature. Very frustrating. They don't really accept classes from the local community colleges either.

Go Eags! Got my Bachelor of Arts in Education, Major: Health and Fitness, Minors: Coaching and Sociology; back in 2009. Great school, great community. Go Eags!

loved my time at EWU!

Fun place to meet people and get an education

This is a good college but some professors are off the rocks crazy.

Really glad I ended up at Eastern… I was drawn to Eastern because it was the cheapest university in Washington and I found out it’s more than a good price… We have a killer football team and this year we won all our home games. Really good community and academics. I’m a junior this year and I’m loving it! Go Eags!

Sarah Lawrence

Scammers. Bad advising and very misleading. People are Not very helpful. Best thing about it is that it is affordable.

Tom Zack

Good school, easy access, available resources and low education costs compared to others.

carlos avendano

Great school and the campus is nice

kamikaze vixen

If I could give it negative stars, I would. The staff are rude, disrespectful, and totally unhelpful. The financial aid office is the worst offenders. I would highly suggest enrolling in one of the other colleges and universities before even thinking about EWU

Jesse Gamache

Victoria Spence

My son graduated from here and he is brilliant

Coach Paul

Great stadium eventhough the turfgrass is red. Thanks to USATF and the university, all the staff and all volunteers for making such great Master's National events to happen.

Jacob Helm

I am very happy that i chose EWU for my education. the campus is beautiful and located in a small town so I don't feel lost or overwhelmed all the time, but when i miss the hustle and bustle of the city, Spokane is only a short drive down the road. The staff is very friendly, especially our professors, who are knowledgeable and understanding that we are students. Our professors are willing to work around our schedules as well as theirs in order to help us understand the material they are passionate about.

mark gardarzhi

Good quiet college, tuition is getting cheaper because of a Washington grant or something that legislation past a year ago

Yeppur! EWSC in 1972. Turtle Lake in Idaho rock's. Hello Gary...

Don't even consider this place! Worst advisors EVER! staff can just hang up the phone during conversation and never call back. They'll add more credits for no reason to complete degree. Just horrible! As another person said in their review, if it was possible to rate in negatives I totally would.

James Balken

Cheney is safe and quiet. The University is what you make of it. If you skate by and hardly work, it won't really help you. If you put in the effort and work, this environment can really allow you to grow and gain skills needed in a professional setting.

Michael Sinitsa

Great faculty and a cozy setting bound to appeal to the student wanting to make connections that will last a lifetime!

erhagman

All the teachers are super helpful and awesome!

Marie Ric

See WAC 172-130. It's law for all first year students to live in the dorms ($750/month) and pay for their ridiculous meal plans ($633/month). If you can afford an additional $20,000 to go to EWU, you might as well go to a better school with better accommodations. Dorms are outdated, small, and not clean. The housing staff is horrible and difficult to work with. Make sure to check other mandatory expenses (parking, laundry, activity fee, STA, PUB, Obamacare, etc.) They add up quick!

T M

The worst university ever, a very sick place where racism and rape are the norms. You can find here the most unreliable, incompetent administrators or people you will ever meet in your life. Save yourself and your money and stay away from this sickness.

Kaleel Lloyd

10/10 would school again

Nico Hernandez

Absolutly love the campus.

Chloe Hutson

Eastern Washington University is amazing, I'm incredibly thankful that I came to this university for my education. Everything is really well located and close together, which makes getting between classes nice. Our professors are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and it's easy to get to know them because of the small class sizes. We have amazing extracurriculars, such as our outstanding athletics program, Intramural sports program, and a wide array of clubs and organizations. Counting Eastern out because of its size is a mistake. You'll make great friends, families away from family, and it will easily become your second home.

Jared Bogyo

As with everything else in life, EWU is what you make of it. If you work hard, you'll find your experience enjoyable. If you don't, you'll always find a reason to complain.

fearfulcarpet

First off this is a great place to go to college because it's affordable there are nice people and the football games are great.

Isaiah H.

Eastern has come to be my favorite place. The resources are endless when it comes to you needing help. The class sizes are fairly small so you get a quality education for a great cost. There are tons of opportunities to grow individually to become the best version of yourself. Not only that, but the campus community is so friendly and helpful with whatever you need. I am glad to call Eastern my home for the next few years.
