UVM has a great campus and there are so many places to study. It's a little but hard to find study spots away from the library but once you do it's great, because you can get out of class and immediately go to a study nook to do a piece of homework. I personally recommend the Billings Library, it's above Cook Dining Hall. If you go past the bathrooms on the first floor of Cook, you can take the stairs all the way up and there's a very quiet study area on the mezzanine. Unfortunately it doesn't have outlets, but the natural light is really nice to read from, since there are windows all around. More generally, there's always something happening on campus even if Bored (campus events blog) doesn't have it on the calendar. There are also many clubs. Get involved! It's a great way to make friends and your classmates may be in a club with you, which makes approaching them after class to arrange a study session all the more easier.

These folks got some book. You’ll read them and learn some stuff from them. But books are expensive lemme tell you. You also pay for school and you pay for all sorts of stuff. Basically I think college is throwing money at a wall and hoping it sticks. But I mean sometimes it sticks so that’s pretty cool. You have some drinks you read some books you make big learning time.

It's a state run school, whatta expect, progress! STD central, drunks glorification. Nah, I got a online education, there is an app for that U know. It's a party school, that's all. For those who own legal weapons, UVM used 2 offer a pubic safety safe to leave them in, then they got rid of that policy, really, vermont is gun country ya stupid liberal morons.

Cons: Votey, the engineering building, has not been updated in 40 years. No sprinklers in classrooms or labs, only hallways. Most if not all of the lab equipment given to students to use is either broken or faulty. University seems only interested in its students financially; everything that you can conceivably be charged for you will be. Food quality is absolutely dreadful, and the prices for the points plans are incredibly over-inflated. Meal plan is a required purchase if living on-campus. Campus code of conduct, and by extension the resident adviser system, is bloated and reaches too far for comfort. Pros: Decent professors. Good opportunities to gain professional experience through the senior design program. Pleasant campus. Diversity of majors. Safe campus. Good living spaces if you get the right dorms. Gym is excellent and well maintained. Burlington bus system (CCTA) is excellent and students get free passage. Overall I would not say that this university was worth the money, but if I was an in-state student then I might feel otherwise.

Excellent campus with many subject areas to study. They are in the process of expanding there collaboration with other collages and universities in the area to increase the degrees offered in addition to building more housing and a multi million dollar STEM research facility. The humanities are not a major focus of the Trustees or administration, but the faculty does a great job keeping them going. Like most places, that aspect of UVM is highly political...

We recently visited the campus and did a nice walking tour. Parking near the bookstore was not difficult at all. The buildings look neat and well-maintained and the Old Mill Building in particular was such a sight to behold. Definitely a great way to spend an hour for those visiting the city.

A dream school for parents particularly during the decision making process - people answer the phones - they call you back - they are so friendly - they answer questions and everyone is exceedingly easy to deal with. My son, who just started his sophomore year, applied to nine schools and got into all of them - none of the others were very helpful when it came to financial aid, scholarships, questions about classes, understanding options, etc., and some were even quite rude. And he got into schools like UCSD which I could never even get on the phone. UVM was like stepping into another universe. Breathtaking in the fall.

I loved studying at UVM. I was a Global Studies major and an African Studies minor from 2011 to 2015. Soon I will be going to SOAS (The School of Oriental and African Studies) at the University of London to pursue a two year M.A. degree in Middle Eastern Studies and Intensive Arabic this fall. UVM made this possible, and I have made so many great friends, and have had some amazing professors. I also had the chance to study abroad three times in South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Jordan. Between the great study abroad experiences, classes, professors, and the contacts which I had made, I could not have asked for a better undergraduate experience, it was outstanding!!

Good faculty depending on your major but the administration is a joke. Courses are only scheduled for one or two classes, one or two semesters a year, and the scheduling is done so poorly that you cant even get some concentrations without staying another year because of scheduling conflicts with their required schedules.

I applied to UVM, as it was one of two larger, state universities I applied to when I was exploring where to go to college. The other was SUNY Purchase, since I was a resident of both NY and VT. Ultimately, I ended up choosing Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, BUT I did like UVM, the campus itself is pretty and Burlington is a cool large college town (have a hard time considering it a "city"), and I think the Lake Champlain area is one of the prettiest parts of Vermont. I toured the campus, had an admissions interview, spent a weekend there, and sat in on a couple of Friday and Monday classes, which I REALLY enjoyed. UVM's academics seemed fairly solid, and overall I felt at home on the campus. My only reason for not choosing UVM was because ultimately, I wanted a small, private college campus, rather than a larger public university. I also wanted to be part of Theater and Film programs where the work was more original, student-driven and had less emphasis on faculty directed and produced shows (which was not the case with the UVM mainstage season and Hampshire's Theater & Film programs were completely interdisciplinary and student driven) because there is a major difference. UVM's Royal Tyler Theater facilities are nice, but they aren't world-class like the UMass Fine Arts Center for example. However, I actually ended up with both experiences anyway in part, because I took classes, used campus resources, did auditions etc...at UMass/Amherst while I was attending Hampshire. UVM has a MUCH prettier campus than UMass, but, I think overall, UMass/Amherst is a more well-renowned university than UVM, comparatively speaking. Overall, the Five Colleges gave me more the undergraduate experience I actually wanted (and it was closer to NYC & Boston which helped my creative work). I will say this: the skiing in northern Vermont close to UVM (Jay, Stowe, Smugglers Notch, Bolton Valley & Mad River Glen) is far better than the skiing that was close to Hampshire (southern Vermont and the Berkshires) but I made do. However, the attractive proposition of being part of UVM's Downhill Racing Ski Team was not lost on me, and had I chosen UVM, I certainly would have done that. However, that is hardly a significant reason solely to choose a college or university. I ended up racing with the UMass/Amherst Ski Team anyway while attending Hampshire, and we'd compete against UVM.

Attending UVM was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have found that professors are very accessible and more than willing to help out. As an secondary education major, I have found that the education department is very supportive and I know that I will be ready to enter the teaching profession when I graduate in a little over two years. Also, my dorm room window looks right over the Green Mountains, a truly incredible view to wake up to every morning.

University of Vermont is THE breeding ground for racist faculties with their attitude, acts and actions being constantly fed and reinforced by the Administration, Provost Office, and the Office of International Education. Believe me I am still suffering because of the way I was treated there. They are the reason that I am subject to lifelong suffering with actual physical and emotional pain.

We had an excellent graduation day at the University. The event was very well organized and smooth. Summertime in Vermont is supreme. The winter sports options are great too, if you are into that kind of thing ⛷️

I normally never leave reviews online but I feel obligated as a University of Vermont alumnus to share my opinion, and I would be doing a disservice to others by not. The engineering building, Votey Hall, is shockingly underequipped and undermaintained in certain areas. The largest issue is a lack of decent computers available to students. Currently there are only three computer labs and two virtual computer labs in Votey (all three computer labs are booked by classes more often than not, and schedules are not posted so good luck getting into one during the day when you need to). The virtual computer labs can only handle light web browsing and cannot handle any computer-aided design (CAD) work. The three regular computer labs are sufficient for light CAD work but cannot handle anything of a useful size without crashing or causing a work standstill due to performance issues. There are many professors that are amazing and I will remember them for the rest of my life. There are also many professors that should not be teaching university students, and I will also unfortunately remember them for the rest of my life. Avoidance of these bad professors is impossible in certain required classes, since they are the only professor teaching that class during a given semester. The College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (CEMS) Student Services is absolutely top notch, and you can always get help from them when you need it. Diversity classes are required for graduation at UVM. These diversity classes have a common theme that is brought up at least once a week – “All white people are racist”. This phrase is said multiple times word for word by the professors, and regurgitating this on daily homework assignments is absolutely essential for a satisfactory grade. My experiences as a heterosexual white male were not welcomed in the classroom, nor are they openly valued anywhere on campus. You are expected to keep your mouth shut and not to stray from the accepted norms. As a heterosexual white male I had to walk on eggshells from the moment I walked on campus to the moment I walked off of it for the last time. Any misconstrued statements or deliberately misconstrued statements can earn you a visit from the UVM Bias Response Team. Looking back at the time that I spent at UVM, I feel incredibly let down. The University of Vermont is supposed to be Vermont’s flagship university, and I feel that there was little value for the money that I paid to attend. If I could turn back the clock I would more than willingly go somewhere else, even if that meant having to leave my home state of Vermont.
