Poor employment resources, slow staff, and not military friendly. (Prior student at CCAC & PITT) Employment resources: There are a few (VERY) limited resources to aid students in employment and internships. The connections that Slippery Rock has is very poor. The internships are of poor quality in areas I have seen: IT, computer science, and business related. Many of the finance internships, for example, are in sales or very low level accounting. I experienced more connections, having better quality, at a community college. It is evident that the college has a poor business connection level. Slow staff: I have worked & attended previous colleges; this is the slowest college by far. I submitted documents for FAFSA later in the semester, for that semester, due to a hardship. They focused on other students FAFSA for NEXT semester instead of aiding a nontraditional student in need of aid NOW. They requested one document at a time. Knowing they would take a long time, I called every 2-3 days. Each time, they never got the document I sent through email, until I called. They requested a final document and specifically told me to wait a week after calling about it a few days later. I called a week later and they didn't even look at it until then!! I have a far commute and I will not be able to drive to campus soon due to the lack of funding. This seemed to be counter intuitive to the mission of the financial aid office. I've been working with them for 5 weeks so far and am told I will need to wait 2 more weeks. Not military friendly: The military/veterans office staff are very kind and mostly helpful. I presented my issue with FAFSA to the director of the office. He called me the next day telling me the same thing that the financial aid office told me; wait until they get the documents. The directors role when representing military/veteran students is to serve as a liaison and to aid these students experiencing real issues. This is not just an ADMINISTRATIVE role! I worked with the directors of other colleges military office personally. In this situation, we would have (and have) called the office and requested them to put focus on this student since they are working on next semester items that do not 'need' to be completed at the moment. This college has the potential to become great and the campus is beautiful. There are inefficiencies in its staff and priorities that hinder the progress and quality for its students. The website, for example, is a great reflection of the quality and current status of its resources. Hopefully they can get it together.

Best website ever. The web communications team is not only smart and friendly, but also really handsome. Those guys are some of the best people on campus.

The food isn’t good. The academics are average. There’s nothing to do, ever.

University police and borough police do a terrible job with the “zero tolerance” alcohol policy. People in the rock apartments have alcohol and party almost every night and nobody gets in trouble, they need to make an example out of some of these kids because this campus is extremely dangerous, do not let your kids go here if you don’t want them partying and drinking. My son is in the marching band program though and he said he enjoys that, it’s a well run program.

I absolutely love this university. It is quiet and rural. It accomadates all sorts of majors and the English program is phenomenal. There is such a wide variety of classes and clubs on campus and the staff is very friendly and always willing to assist students. On campus services do an amazing job in regards to giving the students what they need. All over a great experience.

i'm a current student here at SRU and it's an excellent campus with super friendly staff and students. the claims of alcohol are as true as any other campus, and it's very hard to regulate, but i've been at the university for three semesters and have had no issues whatsoever. the campus is beautiful and the buildings are well maintained, and it's an overall excellent college. the only downside is that in order to do really anything, you must travel off campus and drive a ways out because it is in the middle of nowhere, but it is nothing new to me due to the fact that my hometown is very similar. it's an amazing school, and if you're looking to attend a supportive and beautiful school with good programs for any major, slippery rock is the perfect school for you.

Terrible/gold diggers. Unfair, disgraceful. Dont bother applying! A friend of mine was asked by the admission department to another college for math class. Once the semester is over, and my friend received 4 credits for the math class from another university, they postponed the graduation asking him to retake the math class in their college even though he got an A grade. Increased $1000 tution fee for no reason.

Tried taking summer classes here. It is run very poorly. There is almost zero communication, I am locked out of all my online resources, and there is no way to leave a message if you call after hours.
