Despite the issues at the university, Cheyney has created a reflective and visionary leader in myself. I would not have went to any other HBCU, or any other PASHEE school. Cheyney taught me that it was safe to be black in modern day America. Being that I transferred in to CU, I know that the issues Cheyney faces, every other school faces. I love my HBCU.

The students were very disrespectful towards light skin visitors.Puerto ricans, mexicans,Italians etc. It was just wrong. Seems like a great school when looking around to see what they have but they act like they are way better then anyone and just completely disrespectful towards people who was light skin then them I dont know why they acted like that. Not saying all but half of them was acting like that.

Cheyney University of Pennsylvania is the oldest existing guardian of a culture that this nation attempted to systematically erase. As the first Historically Black College or University, she is unapologetic about her storied lineage, even though it is inextricably tied to the evil ways of man. She is the unexpected love child of Black hope and White hate. She is the shining example of what can be accomplished when faith is allowed to guide the feet of the weary and unlock the minds of the oppressed. Her guardianship is unparalleled. While she may be facing difficult times in the present, her 179 years of existence tell us that she remains strong, steadfast, and resilient! Many great men and women have expanded their minds and began their careers at this historic university. Many of us have gone on to excel in professional and graduate school because of the excellent education we received. There is no doubt that this storied institution has and continues to breed greatness, and I am honored to carry her family name with me everywhere I go.

My experience, education and treatment at Cheyney University can be matched regarding faculty's teaching, support and compassion to only one of five universities I attended and it is the one where I received my Doctorate in Psychology, and my studies at Princeton University. The professors at Cheyney were supportive and they encouraged my professional development. My strengths were recognized because I studied and put the work in that was required. I was referred to attend Princeton University, APA conferences and the professors assisted two Psychology majors with the cost; appointed to the National Honor's Association In Psychology by a Cheyney faculty member. Encouraged to mobilize by another professor, "Keep going" he said, and I did continue my education, in Virginia, at Irvine California, and Camden NJ. Cheyney Professors Care about Student's Success The education at Cheyney was and is supportive and the faculty strives to help you to succeed. Your success depends on your own determination and consistency. I encourage anyone to study at Cheyney. I have several good friends who are graduates. One is a teacher. He credits a Cheyney professor for his success as a Certified Teacher. He said it got tuff for him and the professor recognized his passion and academic problems which were unrelated to his intellectual ability. It was associated with some other struggle that our young African American males may encounter in life. The professor believed in him and helped him to believe in himself. He completed an assignment in which he is proud of today. He is now a compassionate teacher and musician. Next, another male after graduating managed a program of over 90 mentally ill clients and his team. We identify as being a part of the Cheyney family and are proud graduates. I encourage anyone who is reading this commentary to judge Cheyney from your own experience or perspective, because it is the one that will make the difference in most aspects of your life.

If I could rate lower I would. I transferred into this school and I will be out after this year. I have had 4 friends leave before the school year was over because of how unprofessional this school is. No one does their job. The teachers are excellent but as far as the other staff goes, no one has a purpose to be their. I feel that most of the other staff never went to school and getting a job at Cheyney was a last resort. They do not like to answer the phones to solve problems, they play around with peoples money, the dorms are very dated and they don't even have enough students to fill them. This school should be shut down, it is a school for rejects and people who aren't serious about school. It is a waste of time for those who are serious. The athletics department has different people quitting their jobs everyday and currently has no one in charge. Coaches are leaving because they receive no support from the school. My list could go on but I just hope no one else falls for the trick that I did.

I love Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. I am honored to say that I will be graduating from Cheyney University in May, 2018. An unmatched college experience at a University that has been established to educate African Americans. I encourage all high school senior to apply to Cheyney University. Come visit the University and walk our historical campus and eat from Ada George’s dinning Hall. Better yet, if you do not feel like siting grab a “BRB” from our famous snack bar!

Cheyney was ranked THE WORST SCHOOL in Pennsylvania for a reason. The average student has a 2.6 GPA & 900 SAT. 45% of freshman leave, and 75% of students don't graduate. This terrible school will be closed soon enough!

I love my HBCU..I was voted "Miss Freshman 2017-2018" and I had so much fun . I am sadly transferring, because they are taking away the sports programs and I was on a track scholarship, but my experience at Cheyney was unforgettable. Its a family atmosphere to say the least, everyone knows each other on campus which makes it comfortable even for freshman.

If every a state funded university I would send my Child, Cheyney University would be it! Beautiful Campus with updated buildings. Just wish others knew of this hidden treasure in tinicum township. Beautiful small HBCU.. Support them and keep their enrollment thriving!!! Trust me you will not be disappointed!
