This school is growing fast. Adding building after building i believe they are turning it into another MIT. I am proud to be a graduate of this place.

Aniket Shah

It's expensive. I am a international student and as compare to other state universities UTDallas is lot more expensive. I Graduated with Mater's in Mechanical Engineering. Some professor are very much help and majority are not. The grading system is tough. Overall campus is huge and enjoyable.

Carion Jackson

Great University and very helpful people. Parking can be a pain so get there early.

Tyler McCarty

Absolute terrible staff. Attended this school for 1 day. Went to the office and dropped the ONE class i had the FIRST day for financial reasons. I get a bill 6 months later for $800+. Apparently the one class was $4000+ and i was responsible for a percentage of it because according to their records i waited over 3 weeks to drop? This place is a scam and if you need anything done like this be sure to keep your paperwork and names of people you talk to. They will try to get all the money they can out of you in whatever way possible.

THIS is the next "Tier One" university in Texas. Not Texas Tech. Not the University of Houston. Not SMU. Watch this institution closely and you'll soon realize that this school is a real academic powerhouse, with a rapidly growing reputation. The research programs are quite strong. Also, the modern architecture is lovely. Everything just oozes "high tech."

Robert Tanner

Great place. Little small but cozy.

Patrick Godfrey

Very bad experience with parking. They charge for parking all over campus, and all around the library where visitors are likely to park. Even if it is not posted, they appearantly charge for parking anyway, and they will not give a warning for a first time violation. I received a $30 citation for parking in Lot E even though there are no signs around Lot E that say that parking is chargeable. It is not a visitor friendly campus.

Only one thing I have to complain, there are increasing number of Indian students in Engineering School, about 4:1 among total students, 4 indians with 1 other racers. It looks like I am studying in India. Most of faculties from India, it is because the head of school is Indian. where is balance??

Saurabh Kumar

Wonderful college which is full of events and activities. It is also full of part time and volunteering jobs. I am studying in the computer science department and this department is top notch. Classes in CS for all professors are to the point and full of details. CS lab is very equipped with computation power. Every week there are many workshops on technologies and latest trends in the computers field. As a current student I am loving it.

What I like about this school: -Small/Medium size campus -Diversity of the Student Body -Great Business & Engineering Degree Programs -Located in the DFW metroplex -Student activities within campus. What this school needs or can improve on: -PARKING -Needs a football team and football stadium -Needs a bigger & better performance hall (the university theatre is just not cutting it!) -Can improve on dining choices. Overall all, I really like this school & I would strongly recommend attending this university.

Kenneth Pope

This is a academic school zero partying no socializing all about grades. The classes are ok a lot of group work. They make their exams pretty hard. If you want a real college experience rather than just studying all the time go to UNT or UT not this school all about the books. No one really talks in the classes pretty sad. They need a football team think that would help greatly.

MS K

Wonderful school. Way better than expected even I knew it's good already.

Vic Simon

UT Dallas is a wonderful campus. Classes offered are varied and professors all excellent. My experience at UTDallas has been one of great learning and pure pleasure. I continue to take classes and look forward to next semester already.

D Man

I'm editing this because nobody is going to read my long thought out post anyway. I will say this - I tried three semesters here and failed. That was after spending two years at another local college making A's and B's. No amount of time or effort I put into my classes seemed to make any difference in my ability to pass (and I mean PASS, forget about getting A's). Unless you are an over achieving wunderkind honors kid (because they were the only one's I saw not struggling), I would think twice about going here for your BA degree. There is a reason why this college currently only has a 45% graduation rate (per their own website as I write this). They do offer good services, every employee I ever encountered was pleasant, I never had to wait more than a few minutes to meet with anyone, and the professors are on top of their game. I just think this school is made unnecessarily difficult for whatever reason.

Does not provide enough sections for their Software Engineering courses.. They provide plenty for the entry level courses but afterwhich you are left with literally ONE section for every advanced course and elective... At this this point I cannot take the courses I want to and rather have to resort to picking anything I possibly can so I can graduate on time. Very stressful. PLEASE OPEN UP MORE SECTIONS. PAY ATTENTION TO STUDENTS NEEDS AS THEY GET CLOSE TO GRADUATION.

Claudia Tian

The most beautiful thing about this university for me is that I had some really wonderful professors!!! Sanderson Scott, Elena Katok, and Metin. These professors are really good. If you have the chance to take their classes, strong recommend!

Richard Yi

Great University in a great location. If you are thinking about applying here, go do it. Its a relatively young school, so the facilities are still very clean and at night, the campus almost looks like a block off of a futuristic city. There are lots of events happening on campus, and lots of networking opportunities. Just warning you, this is not a school where you can expect to get laid and party every night and pass. If you plan to go into a serious major such as engineering, science, or business, you will have to focus.

John Macaulay

Great school with many excellent programs. Campus is well organized with many new buildings including housing.

Ada Nilsson

GREAT PLACE TO WORK!

Nikita Dasilva

Great school, with tremendous potential, which is a very exciting prospect. Hope it continues to develop into the innovative and top school it aspires to become.

Adriel June

Currently in my Jr year and not having a great experience. I call to make an appointment with an advisor I am told to go online, go online and there are no appointments available, call back and am told to "text in" the line. Get there after waiting hours (literally) through the text line and people are walking in, waiting 15 mins and seeing an advisor. The advisors always sound irritated and rushed, they want to give you the quickest answer to get you off the phone asap. Struggling with financial aid, not receiving any direction from financial aid office or advisors. There's a very "This is just what it is" attitude and it's awful. I am so frustrated with my experience I am really ready to leave this school. I would love for an advisor to take a minute to care about my situation and give me some real ADVICE on what steps to take.

Nahif Chowdhury

Definitely one of the nicest public college campus in the state of Texas and very diverse

Kris Davis

The campus grounds are excellent, and there is always a new building popping up! The coursework is very difficult, but the teachers know what they are talking about! If you're up for a challenge, check it out!

Dr. Aziz Sancer, a Ph D graduate of UTD, received the 2015 Nobel Prize in chemistry. He is by far the most notable alum of this university.

Brandon Gomez

This university offers more than 100 undergraduate and 170 graduate degrees. This is by far the best education you are going to find. Here are some states 67.7% bachelor's degrees, 22.0% master's degrees, 6.4% doctoral degrees, and 3.9% Professional degrees.[61]

Hanane Hanane

I studied there, and was very satisfied of the level of education there. They really respect international students and help them!

Blushing Peonies

The University of Texas at Dallas has its strengths and weakness, as does any school. UTD believes their strengths lie in STEM and business related fields; therefore, all other programs of study are treated as though they are unimportant, insignificant even. Professors are not there to help you. You are irrelevant to them--just know that, especially if you are a lowly undergraduate student. You have absolutely no clout; your thoughts, ideas, and opinions are ignored, trampled over, and quickly forgotten. They will physically walk away from you as you are trying to ask them a question, they will roll their eyes at you, they will openly make fun of you in class, degrade you in front of your peers, open up their office hours and then act as if you are an inconvenience once you arrive, and they almost never respond to your emails in a timely manner. I once had a professor who waited nearly an entire year to the day to respond to an email regarding a life-threatening situation. An entire year! Clearly, I was not a priority and most certainly not worth a quick response offering his condolences. Also, regarding professors, prepare never to be good enough. Nothing you do will please them, make them like you, or cause them to appreciate your efforts. It's a lost cause. I have only ever had two professors who treated me like a human being and actually respected my work, my efforts, and my time. My first semester on campus felt as though I stepped into another world where I was not welcome. Over time, I learned to navigate my way through the classes, becoming more familiar with what my professors deemed correct/desirable. Through all of this, I never felt like I could be myself or be comfortable in my classes. I never spoke up in class unless I was spoken to or required to do a presentation. I am not an idiot and I am not incompetent. In fact, I have always been extremely successful academically, but I was made to feel as if I were an uneducated fool on this campus. Because of that, I would never again make the decision to attend UTD, nor will I recommend this university to anyone else. It has been a huge regret of mine that I will forever have to live with. When other people tell me about their awesome college experiences, I often find myself wondering what such a wonderful university would be like to attend. In my second semester at UTD, I had a professor tell me that my project was never going to amount to anything and that I would never be able to pull it off. News flash: I did pull it off, it did amount to a lot of time, work, and energy, but what made it all worth it was the look of pure shock (and possibly some irritation that I had succeeded) on my professor's face. He never told me in person, but I later received a note attached to my online gradebook that it was one of his top three favorite projects he's ever had submitted for his course, and that's with him also teaching graduate students. I felt validated when I read that note, but I also felt immensely bothered that he took a look at me and thought I couldn't make something truly great and worthy of his "admiration." This is just one example of the disrespectful attitudes that persist towards students, especially undergrads, on the UT Dallas campus. Even worse than a professor not believing in your abilities—the president of the university disrespectfully turning your words against you after standing up for your beliefs about how the university recognizes their students in a polite and professional manner. After speaking with multiple people about the contents of the email I received and the less-than-professional phrasing (which I've been advised to take to the board), as well as reviewing the email countless times myself, I have come to the simple conclusion that Dr. Benson and UTD do not truly value students being activists for change unless it fits their agenda. They are actively chosing not to challenge themselves in effort to make UTD better for their students.

A. K. M. Saleh Sultan

Good place for study. But expensive for a student to live around.

Lingyao Meng

Great university and continually become better! Faculties are very kind and helpful.

Naren Thapa

The perfect place and boundless opportunity to achieve your goal.

BG M

I've been to a lot of colleges. I have an MA already, but I'm going now for a 2nd BA. I have been really impressed with UTD. The fine arts department, where I'm at now, is small, but very good. They have a very strong emphasis on interdisciplinary studies, which I like. I rate some of the lecturers and professors I've had here as the very best I've had.

Edgar Duenas

good school for reputation, but judging from my cousin's experience, I wouldn't go there. The parking is terrible, staff support is non-existent, and to top it off, they don't even have many activities for students. Students needs activities, outside of lectures and classroom instruction.

Han Lee

Excellent!

Karthik Rao

The Free Bus rides for students and general public alike is nice :)

Garrett Chace

Very beautiful campus. Great spot for meetings, too.

Manish Dharmadhikari

Masters program in systems engineering and management is something which offers best of both worlds - engineering and management. I highly recommend this school for all majors. Excellent facilities with awesome faculty and diversity in students .. Love the school !!

Joshua Spigel

Great school that has a lot of construction going on. Management really cares about improving school and making it more aesthetic. Location is great and next to many restaurants and things to do.

Rudolf Tamas

I was here for a conference. Nice, clean, and modern facility. But, their parking situation is unique. That’s definitely an opportunity.

Aoyu Li

No parking is free. It's a confusing maze. Ticket trap to just drive into. Clear crappy side (engineering) and nice new side (business buildings)

Ash Adamley

Zero online courses, zero schedule flexibility. Hey UTD, believe it or not, some of us aren't rich -some of us have to work for a living. We need class schedules that can work around our set schedules or at least some online courses (especially in the Liberal Arts Department) that allow us to still earn our degrees while working. You're too large of a campus to have such a horrendous course availability. You have a large student body with a diverse range of needs, so please accommodate by broadening these courses and having some online.

Shraddha Patil

I am gratuated from this University in electrical engineering and I got to say it is best University that I could ask for...!!!!

Ion McCusker

Administration is so incompetent you wonder how anything gets done. Save yourself time and a ton money and go somewhere decent like ut austin or an institution that values you more than simply a source of income.

Dosia F

PARKING IS TERRIBLE!

shawn sakary

no worst student service.

Roach Fan

Don't go to school here! Place is a sham! Absolutely no alumni support if you want to job do not go to school here! The school is not well regarded in Dallas and is often seen as a joke!

Sam Littrell

I don't normally write reviews unless I feel very strongly one way or the other towards a service I've experienced. I work full time, have nearly a 4.0 grade average, and the money to pay for school. However, speaking with my adviser is like pulling teeth, and i have had multiple advisers. Additionally, I have tried time and time again to give them the chance to behave professionally to no avail. Most of my e-mails and phone calls don't ever get a response and if they do, they simply provide a link for someone else to help me who will do the same. I challenge you to call any of the admissions or advising staff and find someone who answers the phone who sounds like they are having a good day. I will end with my closing statement, which I hope you take to heart if you are reading this. If you are a parent looking for a good fit for your student, or a student without that benefit, please learn from my poor decision to invest time and money in this institution and give your child/self the support system that they need elsewhere.

Jayden Sun

I am about to start my freshman year there. I am majoring in Computer Science. I have visited the campus several time. The campus is not like other Texas public colleges campus. UTD has a pretty modern campus. All in all, I like the campus the the environment there.

Jose Zelaya

Great University with modern archetecture design and great professors a university focused on academics and less on partying and athletics.

BMW Driver

It is in everyone's interest to brag about the greatness of the college they went to, isn't it? After all, you spent a fortune and even if you are now broke and paying back a huge loan, you can brag about your college. The PR department at the University will thank you, also.

の勝雄小林

UTD is an overall good school to attend. The location is convenient and the classes are great. However, I think the school still needs some reforms (Things like a calculus II requirement for accounting undergraduates is just downright incompetent and shows no understanding of professional accounting whatsoever). Other than the hypocrisy with their own degree plans, I would recommend this school.

Absalon HD

I loved the tour and the college looks so picturesque can't wait to visit this year

Adam

Transferring here was like pulling teeth. My advisor did nothing but try to talk me into a different major. They make you show up in person for an orientation that tells you nothing. Were as in other university there are more online classes and you could schedule without being there. Note if your a transfer student you have no choice but to check in with your advisor. Horrible decision on my part if you are a transfer student from another state do not go here.

Jerri Brandenburg

Went to Utd to look into it becoming a venue for a future event John Kyle was most helpful and took time to explain everything, as well as helping with ideas. Very much appreciated his kindness.

One of my professors said the only school operating at a profit is the management school, which is shocking because it's one of the most expensive public universities in Texas. But the management school does offer a lot of opportunities to land a job but this school isn't perfect. Course times are usually terrible, especially for IT and Systems. If I had to run a mile from home to get to class or look for parking I'd stay home I have the orange permit and one day I couldn't find anything on orange, yellow, and green was only available on the opposite side of campus...

Austin Carson

Their financial aid department is less than pathetic.

mukul mishra

Engineering school is good but its very costly

Sean Tovson

Seriously, what's a university without a football team? Oh, yeah, a university. UTD has a campus full of people subdivided into cliques. There's not a whole lot of mixing. There's some fun to be had, but you're going to have to make it yourself. They gave me a degree after 4 years of me paying for it. I didn't do a whole lot of studying. I played a lot of counter-strike. The cops here are awful! Don't drive anywhere near this place!

Brennan McMahon

My alma mater, so what can I say other than send your kids here... if you still think college is good for them. If you do, this is the place to shape their minds. Just make sure the education is shaping them and not the politics.

Mikayla Jeane Garvey

This university boasts an exciting, challenging, and enthusiastic atmosphere that sets the bar a little higher for all places of academia in the immediate Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex. You know that great things are happening here when you can see your friends run electrical engineering labs that renovate the basic properties of recharging a fuel cell, code lines of C++ to design a program for the movement of a rudimentary robotic arm, or attend national conferences for business competitions and win. The list of bonuses at UT-Dallas are nearly endless. The problem with parking? It's being resolved with a new parking garage directly on campus to make getting to class for commuters easier and convenient. Dishonest administration? Not at all. Every department is very transparent and you can easily speak with any dean or chairperson with the simple call and scheduling of an appointment. Having done this myself to resolve a minor issue, there are hundreds of faculty and staff that want nothing more than to make your academic career just a little bit easier. Ridiculously hard curriculum? You have to work hard, but for anything that its good in life that is standard. Be able to study as hard as you would to any college you go to. Changing your mind and major here is not difficult if you find yourself in a plan that doesn't quite fit your skill set. As you can see by the kudos and boasting, I'm thrilled with my choice of secondary education. You will be too if you decide to enroll and attend UT-Dallas. Whoosh!

Alan Stephenson

The administration here is corrupt and the whole school reeks of incompetence. Teachers don't have the ability or drive to teach while students are mostly full of themselves.

Eric Chen

Good state university with generous scholarships, and is quickly improving. Great especially for engineering and business majors, as those schools are probably the strongest. Opportunities are abound, as not many traditions are established, and students are able to make a real impact on the campus if they want to. The construction never seems to stop though as the campus grows, and this place is not the place if you are looking for a party school.

Gwen Schauer

I enjoyed a terrific continuing education course and highly recommend the institution for corporate training. This may be the right place for me to consider pursuing an Exec MBA program.

Haris Pepermintwala

Amazing school that gives out amazing scholarships #whoosh

Preston Pettit

I went and applied for admissions to take photography classes and spoke with the department head who tried to sell me a program that would get me a masters of arts in photography. I repeatedly explained to her that I wasn't interested in a masters degree and she kept trying to sell me on the idea for the entire interview. Apparently she didn't understand that no means no. The interview was a total waste of my time. At one point I applied to transfer while I was attending another 4 year college and the admissions department claimed was a community college as well. This was all really backwards to deal with. The career services office was very nice actually, and they referred me to other students and alumni who could help me with a photography project I was working on... The students and alumni were rather insulting and uninterested in helping me though... So overall this college has been really bad to work with. They're better than the college I got my ba from but overall aren't really helpful.

Suraj Gupta

60% is topper in the locality! In general, it has great potential to improve it’s education and hopefully their career center.

Lakshmi

I tried to be very hopeful about having a good experience at this university—but mine was anything but great over the course of 4 years as an undergrad. The administration I’ve worked with and have come across have not been open-minded nor trusting of students and are very much so biased in their outlook. This attitude was also present in the Panhellenic council organizations I’ve had to work with. Overall, they’d made it very difficult for a student to openly express concerns and to know that they’ll be heard, and their voices and opinions valued. Please do not go here if you value your wellbeing, and do value any and all other aspects of your life outside of academics. The university will truly not care..and yes, My experience was bad enough to transfer out even if I were only 4-6 credits away from graduation. My life matters more than my success in attempting to convince close-minded academic personnel and university department admin. about the validity of my struggles despite having already provided evidence and proof of documentation, as stated and required by the law of the United States.

Hamza Syed

Amazing school. Great faculty and staff. Top notch resources provided by the university. it's worth paying every penny. Great programs and really good job satisfaction rate after college.

Jonathan Albright

The emac/atec programs are very undeveloped and the staff is aware of this too. I’m not going to name the person but one of my advisors completely misrepresented information, and has caused a tremendous amount of stress in my life. I would definitely think twice about trusting this organization and even enrolling here.

Gaby Mokry

I'm so happy to have started the MS Marketing program here. The faculty, staff and students are all so nice and helpful. Not to mention the honorable reputation the business school holds in the Dallas area!

Victoria Guerra

Overall, it's a great school. Lots of events and activities to participate in. It is very academic based so everyone is very focused on their studies (maybe a little too much). Lots of international students, so you get to interact and experience a very diverse environment. Just like every other college out there, parking is always a problem (not a surprise). But if you ever want to log into your student account (Galaxy) good luck. 8 out of 10 times the page won't even load. They send out all these alerts about maintenance on the page and outages, and yet after all their "maintenance" it still never works. Smh.

John Smith

Honestly if you had to pay for college don't chose UTD. If you get a full ride then it is bearable knowing that you don't have to pay for this lowtier school. A couple of things stand out if you are planning on making a decision. 1. UTD …

Gaurav Gandhi

Nice University but too many students. It becomes hard to get desired courses...

abbby

We had an appointment here with the audiologist and had a good experience, the place is clean and service was excellent.

Rick RR

Get ready to pay 140+tax (the cheapest) for parking EVERY semester :( besides that I like UTD

kyle kimberlin

Horrible school don't go here if you want to graduate in a reasonable time frame classes are very limited. Also almost all international students so their is also that.

Lauren Ash B

I am a transfer student and have been at UTD for the past 2 years. The faculty and advisers are beyond helpful and impressive. They do an exceptional job with creating opportunities for students (i.e., career fairs, internships, events with free food and prizes). Through each course, I have enjoyed the curriculum and building substantial relationships with each professor. I am a psychology major in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences and am proud to be a Comet (even though our mascot is terrifying). I hope you enjoy your time at UTD like I did! All the best, Lauren.

Sean Borg

I went to UTD school for my Master's in Information Technology Management and undergrad in Accounting. The professors at the school have been outstanding. Every other part of the schools administration have been unhelpful. Parking is horrendous even after they built several more parking garages. UTD has so many international student it can be challenging for companies to find U.S. citizens if they are not wanting to sponsor.

Harish Rao

Great place.. Has given me an opportunity to meet diversified people and learn from them. It has been the fastest growing University in the United States, it feels me great that I'm a part of such a great school. # Comets # Whoosh

Nithin Chekravarthi Vasireddy

If u want to learn something, please dont join in eric jhonson school here. This is the place where electrical students grade computer science students and they don't offer courses you want to do.

Compared to UNT, UTA and any other public 4 year universities near Dallas: its the best. The school is on it's way to becoming a tier one college. It's known for it's Business school and Arts/Technology. I would say the school has an identity crisis. With 23,000 students and growing it needs a football team, school spirit and a more traditional setting. It's large enough to sever ties with the UT school system and become a standalone school. The diversity is intense! Parking is getting better and they are improving the buildings with state of the art technology. Not your traditional 4 year experience but they could develop into a school like some well known counterparts such as (Baylor, UT, Tech, A&M, TCU, SMU etc.) but only if they continue to make changes and develop school spirit & loyalty. Classes are pretty tough and the business program is very difficult but considered one of the best. "Greek" life is really just boring: send your kids here if you don't want them to party. Overall like I said its the basic college experience, great education but without traditions & school spirit.

Arnold M

I had a horrible experience with Xianming Dai (faculty). He completely ignores facts and tries to put you down. He also has a very thick foreign accent which is very hard to understand, if you're going to work here and interact with people maybe work on the English a bit. I can ignore the accent but he also has this sense of superiority and adds "right" to the end of everything he says, even when he's clearly wrong. I can't believe that UTD employs this person in a teaching environment. Maybe he's that way because of his culture, but here in America we treat others with respect and are open to points of view that aren't our own. I don't recommend this college as long as they employ close minded people like him. If you go here you will have a bad experience!

Kyle Kimberlin

I have to say this is honestly the worst school I have ever attended far worse than any community college. They are constantly changing the degree plans and don't even offer many of the upper level courses you need to graduate each semester.

Yani M.

Although only visited by walking, the infrastructure looks great (2016).

While I enjoyed some of my classes and professors at UT Dallas and made a few life-long friends during my time as a student, I was highly disappointed by several aspects of the University. First, I came to UTD as a transfer student. I knew nothing in regards to the campus or the way in which I was supposed to go about being registered. I spent numerous hours trying to get answers from advisors and administration to no avail. If I went to one advisor, they told me I was in the wrong place and that I really needed to go elsewhere. It was exhausting and frustrating. Second, once I was accepted to UT Dallas, I had to send in vaccination records. I called to ask how they'd like them to be sent and they told me via USPS. A week went by and I hadn't heard back nor had my enrollment status been updated; I let this go because I just assumed that they were busy with all the incoming students and had an overload of paperwork. Two weeks went by, so I called them again. They claimed to have never gotten the paperwork and told me that the best way to get my paperwork to them was by faxing it over. By the time they sorted this out, I was not able to attend transfer student orientation. I felt completely lost and like I was drowning...and it wasn't even the first day of classes. Third, because of the fiasco above, I was unable to register for classes until the Friday before classes started. I was panicking and left with a slim number of options for classes. I was less than thrilled about this, but I had to do what I had to do. My advisor seemed to be knowledgeable; however, I would soon find out that she messed up my classes and I would waste an entire semester in a class that I had already taken the equivalent to through DCCCD. This incident never received an apology, and I should have gotten the money back for that class. This little mishap went on to complicate things even further when I had to take an overload of classes my last semester on campus before completing student teaching during my final semester before graduation. Fourth, do not go to administration for any comments or complaints you have. You will be humiliated and degraded by those in charge. I have never received such a hateful email from someone who is supposed to represent the university as a safe institution for learning and growth, and a university that has taken pride in the fact that they supposedly listen to their students to illicit change. My words were thrown back at me with pure hatred intertwined in the message. Believe me, I got the message loud and clear: don't question my authority, I'll have you obliterated. I'd hate to know what untrue and spiteful remarks this individual has made about me to his colleagues and staff. Lastly, I would like to mention some other unpleasant occurrences during my years at UTD: 1. Parking is outrageously expensive and it is incredibly difficult to find parking despite having built new garages recently. The parking lots are also in desperate need of repair. If it rains, be prepared to walk through what seems like a lake--literally, I have had to trudge through water mid-calf before. Also, be prepared to ruin any decent pairs of shoes you own because of the water and the mud and the otherwise uneven lots and sidewalks. 2. There is not sufficient lighting in the walkways/sidewalks and parking lots for students who attend classes until 9:45 at night. Sure, they have some students on "patrol," but these students do nothing more than stand with a little orange light talking to one another. If I were seriously in danger, they'd have no idea. Be sure to have pepper spray and take some self-defense classes. I never felt adequately safe when walking to my car at night. 3. This school's focus is business and STEM. If you are in education or literary studies, you have the worst buildings, classrooms, and resources available to you. Classes had to be cancelled on more than one occasion because an animal crawled under the portable buildings, got stuck, and died.

John Rho

The campus is wonderful, no doubt. What's being taught on the campus, on the other hand, is a tad dubious.

Kanwal Mirza

I graduated from here a couple of years ago and recently visited to show the baby brother around. The campus is completely transformed! It's beautiful!

Jason Boudreau

Great school. Very big and amazing architecture. Dorms are fairly large and offers a lot of differe nt activities. No football team but makes up for it with their world renowned chess team. Slightly biased because sister is attending campus. Go Comets!

Great engineering and computer program. Plus nice looking campus at the Heart of Dallas county.

Go to Texas Tech if you're STEM Here it's just a waste of time and money with either cynical or depressed students. The teachers don't know what the hell they're doing, and the campus just wants money Tech may be in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do, but at least it's cheaper and the classes are better taught.

Not trying to be negative, neither am I angry but, if you dont have enough money, dont come here. Best to come with a car but beware of parking. Social life is horrible, focus is mostly on studies. I wouldn't endorse it as a good business school, you are pretty much on your own if you are a business student because the school expenses is not worth its value, you deserve better than this money hungry establishment, it is only good for STEM majors. Apart from that, the school is good for nothing else. I contacted an advisor before coming here and there were some key information he didnt tell me like the PPA, GPA system, and other electives i was supposed to do. It was after a year i learnt that i had to take other elective courses. Why did it take the advisor a year to tell me something that important, despite how expensive it is here? Overall, its just an average school with nothing exceptional to offer and therefore isnt worth its money. I'm new to this country, so i dont know much about schools and i made the mistake of choosing this school thinking i would get a good education (i saw it was among the top 5 best business schools in Texas) only to find myself stressed and anxious from course-load and having to work to pay my tuition and take care of myself. A good number of my professor are not professional. One of them roasted me for being the worst in the class when i went to ask him for hep in his office (i was not the worst), another left for Europe in the middle of the semester, making half the students in his class drop the course. No flexibility in classes here, hardly any online classes either. No college life, just slaving myself to grades that just wouldn't get better unless you are a complete genius, i cant wait to leave this place. Save yourself and dont come here, there has to be a better school than UTD!

No work/school life balance, the academic advising department is completely incompetent..... This school is a waste of time and money.

Had a great time touring, but the campus seemed a little empty. The buildings were new and clean, and it was interesting to see how the school would be expanding in the near future. The campus could use more large, branched-out trees, in my opinion, but it already has a decent enough number of plants to look beautiful in the springtime.

Writing this as a parent of a out-of-state UTD freshman based on an initial fact-finding visit earlier in the year. When I emailed Amanda in Enrollment Services about a possible visit she responded with a schedule including people from the CS department and honors program. She was super nice and helped us around when we actually went there, and so were Michael from the honors program and Alonzo from the academic advisory office. We were deeply impressed by the plan and dedication to move UTD into the top league of technical schools. The campus and all buildings and facilities all looked very well maintained, you could tell their constant desire to keep everything up to date and nice and clean looking. So my son just started there majoring in CS and the freshman orientation has been impressive. I cannot say anything first hand about the quality of education yet but I'm 100% convinced it will be top-notch!

The best school for someone working full time and has the desire to earn a degree part time in the DFW area. While the school is not highly reputable, it is steadily improving in its ranks year over year. Contrary to some of the comments here, employers actually do consider you with this school on your resume. Reputation and the value of the career services that the school offers to its students are two things that if fixed would make UT Dallas a school that is well recognized by its peers (for academic purposes) and by top employers (for business purposes). However, I must say that this may need years before it happens and the leadership teams at UT Dallas have a lot to do before this becomes reality.

UT Dallas is a growing campus. Some rankings put us ahead of A&M college station as the number 2 university for public institutions in the state of Texas! I have seen the growth of the university first hand in the 3 years that I have been here now. If you join clubs and student organizations and you keep up with your school work and use ratemyprofessor and word of mouth with most things you will do fine at UT Dallas. Our basketball and volleyball teams are phenomenal as well and we have plenty of intramural athletics too.

UT Dallas is one of the most underrated institutions I've ever known, and I'm not just saying that because I go there. The academics at UTD are highly ranked in many departments, including business, computer science, biology, speech-pathology, criminology, etc. the campus is one of the safest you will ever find, and the students are down to earth, diverse, and most importantly friendly people. If you haven't already considered attending UT Dallas, I would recommend giving it a good look!

I graduate from UTD in 2011. It was an amazing experience. I gave it four stars because I applied for graduate school here and they lost my application. It worked out for the best, but I was upset by that. I got a B.A. in Art and Performance from here and there was a lot of really cool stuff that happened. This place has changed a lot, but still a great school.

I see a lot of reviews saying this school has a beautiful campus and amazing reputation, which it does. Also, the professors are amazing and the students are very bright. However, the administration and politics within this university is abysmal. Little to no information was given regarding registration for after being accepted into the university for graduate students. When I called and emailed the school, I was transferred numerous times to numerous departments because nobody knew how to answer my question or who could answer it. There seems to be little to no communication between departments. Parking doesn’t exist between 10am-3pm. With how much the cost of Parking, housing, and tuition has increased over the years, I expected improvements in the facilities and organization within this university. I have seen little to no change. Student life is also quite mundane. The university clearly does not strive to encourage an active and engaged student body. The university’s events such as weeks of welcome and guest speakers pale in comparison to every other university in Texas. This includes universities such as UT San Antonio and Texas State, which are significantly cheaper and smaller. Considering UTD’s notoriety for having the 4th most unhappy student body among universities in the country, I’m surprised the administration can turn a blind eye to student engagement. I feel like I’m just a dollar sign to this university after 4 years as an undergrad and 1 year as a masters student. I would not encourage anyone to come here.

Just tried to register here in they discriminate when they first see you like I can't afford to pay for a class do not go here at all racist people.

Got my degree in accounting and had to study on my own for the CPA test. Out of the 120 hours I had to complete less than 25 percent were in accounting and out of the 30 accounting hours maybe 15 hours were useful during my career. This degree 1. Had very little to do with me passing the CPA. 2. Does not prepare you for the real accounting world.

Caleb Lawrence

Awesome school where people want you to succeed.

Sam Kapoor

You will be considered last by any recruiter if you have this school on your resume. A handful of the professors are awesome but the rest of the bunch are a disgrace. I was taking a graduate level class where the professor was struggling with a problem. One of the students had to go up there and help him out! This is a common occurrence. The rest of em are outright rude, "READ THE TEXTBOOK" is what you get for asking a question. Don't take my word for it, try talking to one of the arrogant advisers in management school. They literally think they are doing you a favor by helping you register for school. Yes, it is cheaper than the other schools but you get what you pay for!

Pretty campus. Excellent University

PSYCHOBEVO

UT Dallas was one of several schools I applied to for grad school. But, along with Texas Tech, UT Dallas was one of the ones that failed to finish processing my application. After some initial correspondence, I never got any official response. No letter of acceptance/rejection or anything. They gladly took my application fees though. All the transcripts I submitted weren't cheap either. I ended up going to a different grad school, so maybe you could say it doesn't matter, but thinking back on what happened, wasn't it illegal for UT Dallas to take my application fees without ever processing my application? I still remember the name of the guy I submitted my documents to, Robert Stern of the Department of Geosciences. Somewhere in his office, he probably still has my unprocessed application documents. Don't apply to UT Dallas.

Love it here

I transferred here a year ago from a bigger university and this school has the same problems I'd expect from any other. Typical administration issues, incompetent TAs, etc. However there are some glaring problems that this university seriously needs to address. This one they know: parking is terrible. The green lot fills up so fast you can't find anywhere to park, not even the last row! I have to leave 30-40 minutes early even though I live by the school! They also charge for parking for not only students but visitors as well, which to me is in poor taste. I don't agree with schools charging for parking anyway, but they can never get enough money can they? The lack of online classes really makes my life difficult. My previous university had them and it was such a blessing. Now at UTD my work schedule has been severely limited because I have to go to a class when I could be taking it online. If I had all the time in the world id most definitely prefer a regular class, but that's just not how my life works right now. Another problem with classes is how few sections there are. Some classes only have one time for that semester and if it doesn't work for some reason you're screwed. Or, you're forced to take a professor you don't want which could impact your grade. Overall UTD is a good school. The campus is beautiful, the coursework is challenging, and there are some pretty great professors here. True it's not much of a party school but my last uni was so I prefer UTDs quiet atmoshpere.

UTD’s campus is very beautiful: incorporating modern architecture with nature. My parents graduated from this school about 25 years ago and it has improved a lot since then! The people there are also very kind. Although the AC is too low, that’s inevitable in America
