REVIEWS OF University of North Carolina Asheville IN North Carolina

October 2018 Update: This school is physically unsafe. Identity politics and outrage culture have ruined this once pretty campus. To be fair, identity politics have always been part and parcel of the UNCA liberal arts experience, but it's completely out of control at the UNCA of today. After my most recent experience walking the campus and reading the student paper Blue Banner, I would have been remiss to not write this review as a fair warning for anyone considering this college, as much as it pains me as the university does hold (some) positive memories. Plainly put, it's not worth the money whatsoever and unless you go for a technical major, your degree will be a joke. I'll be updating this review periodically with reprinted articles of the Blue Banner, exposing the worldviews and extremism being indoctrinated into the students. Also, do not be surprised to see a Project Veritas hidden camera expose in the future... September 2018 update: This school and campus is no longer conducive for rational thought and critical thinking. Hysterics, rabid and violent feminism, and witch hunt mentality are rule of the day. UNCA is a blight and unrecognizable to what I remember in the early 2000s. Parents, if your desire is for your daughter (or son, as it were) to graduate with an absolutely worthless degree as the next Sarah Jeong of New York Times infamy, then I implore you, do indeed waste the money and send her to this disgrace of an institution.

Wonderful school tucked away in the mountains. Some of the classes for particular programs tend to be timed poorly but it just means an extra semester at this amazing facility. After a few years now, I am still impressed with classes over all. The administration on the other hand needs a reality check. They still held finals during a snow storm without notice or consideration to any of the students.

I love it here. The campus is beautiful, the classes are small, and the people are kind.

This school's ability to manage your money is nonexistent. Save your receipts or they will screw you so hard. No accountability to be had on their end. One semester and I am done.

Good school, good teachers, not enough classes

The beautiful campus, loving and dedicated faculty, peaceful atmosphere, and great academics make this school fantastic. My one disclaimer is that students tend to create a pretty quiet, studious environment and people clear out considerably on the weekends. It can get a bit quiet since it's a smaller school, but people are generally friendly.

I have struggled with homelessness as a college student, would live in dorm however there are no family dorms, so I must sacrifice security for education. It sucks there is no low-income, family, or emergency housing. One would think that someone would fix this to ensure students do their best with as little stress as possible. Other than that, beautiful campus where can forage for food, places to relax, nice gym/showers, and the free store is pretty awesome.

Hannah Carver

They cheat you out of your money, and the liberal arts core is ridiculous. After 1 semester, I am transferring. This place is nothing like the sugarcoated admissions brochures make it out to be.

Unc Asheville is the best college that you could go to. It has amazing teachers, courses and you meet life long friends. I have the best memories from my years at UNCA!! Amber Reeder '08

When I went here I was a homeless for a while sleeping in my car, but I managed to keep a 3.5 GPA. An instructor who teaches Computer Science there told me that I should cut my loses and quit engineering. She thought I didn't have the brains for it. I left UNCA because of discrimination I felt in the engineering department. I'm now doing great. I have a 4.0 GPA; I'm still in engineering, run my own tutoring business, tutor professionally at my current college, intern with an engineering company that works for the military, and I'm now scheduled to transfer to Carnegie Mellon University's Engineering Department. Quit? Please

Beautiful campus.

Princeton Review's #1 school on a list of the top schools in America for making an impact! Proud to have her as my alma mater, class of '12. My years at UNCA were truly magical. It was a safe and beautiful space to go through the tumbler which allowed me to be whatever I wanted or needed to be. I was a biologist, a musician, an artist, a historian, an astronomer, an ancient gardener, a condom fairy, and the list goes on... I was taught leadership, and praised for curiosity. I was shown how connected every facet of the world is while learning the depressing truth of how disconnected humans have been. We were encouraged to be explorers, leaders, and volunteers in our home of Asheville. Professors always had time to answer my many questions, and many have become lifelong friends. I would do good to remember I'm a daughter of this incredibly special place more often. My only wish is that the professional network was better established for those ready to find jobs. Other than that... Beautiful campus. Great housing. Incredible professors. Wonderful students. Amazing city. The list goes on. Go Bulldogs!
