REVIEWS OF Queens College, City University of New York IN New York

Love the place, and it has a great campus. It's a commuter school in NYC, so don't expect a campus life like what you see on TV. Class of 2016

Mellissa Phills

It's just a great place to visit.

Mikey C

I love this school. My only complaint is the lack of certainty. In my case, the degree works page displayed wrong information. Up until graduation, I had no idea if I was really eligible or not because my prof would say I was fine, but the advisers would go by the degree works page which resulted in conflicting information. Thankfully. I did graduate. Also tied into the issue of certainty was final grades. The school needs to set up an expedited priority for graduating students or push the ceremony back. I received my grades 2 weeks after I "graduated". Thankfully, I passed but imagine how embarrassing it would be to have all your family congratulate you only to find out you need to go back for another semester

Alexis Crespin

It is student art, I like that they recognize it but a little to plane for my taste but they have a cool sitting area that are spheres cut in half. But it is free so that's always a plus!

Adriana Cassinelli

Daughter goes to thia college she loves it

Best campus for any CUNY college.

Probably one of the most disorganized saddest excuses for a CUNY school I've ever attended. The only reason for the added second star is because of two professors who actually care about education and how they relay information to their students. Other than that, you'll find yourself wandering from building to building based on half true information that a secretary had told you, only to be told that information was incorrect when you arrive at the next building. Waited 5 months on a transfer application, and had to physically walk into my designated major department for the head of the department to finally question admissions on whether or not they had accepted me. The reason admissions decided not to notify me of my acceptance was based on an incorrect email in their system. That doesn't excuse a 2-3 minute phone call or perhaps sending a certified letter to my house notifying me that I could attend their college. Admissions waived my commitment fee, which they believe in some way demonstrates remorse when dealing with a scenario like mine. When you overhear professors discussing how unprofessional administration is and how they don't understand how the college even functions, you get a good idea of just what you're getting into. As per transfer credits, I was originally informed I would be receiving a language credit for American Sign Language, but was later told I must take another language to satisfy the CUNY Pathways requirement and College requirement. Upon printing a web page from QC and highlighting the portion in which they stated I would receive credit, I went to Academic Advisement to provide them with the information that thousands of prospective students had already seen before me. After meeting with the secretary of the VP of students, and explaining my reasoning for appealing, I was once again told "we understand where you're coming from, however the requirements had changed". If the requirements changed in 2013, why is that page still up? Why are students given information that is 3-4 years old and out dated? I've attended two semesters here and the only reason I'm staying is because I feel as if I'm stuck and I might as well finish and get out as fast as possible. I recommend looking at ANY and I really do mean ANY other College before making any educated decision to attend this awful and sad excuse of a college.

Fox454x

It's a pretty decent school, I'm a sophomore right now. I'm born and raised in Flushing and have always wanted to go to this school. Although it is a commuter school, you will meet and make great friends in your classes, just start talking to the people around you and you'll have a great time! Those people who give this school 1 star are ridiculous.

Nice place to learn sports. Especially children.

My alma mater. A great working diverse community of learning What colleges should be: focusing on knowledge and information.

William Taylor

Fans were treated to greatest hits and memories of their youth at Jay and the Americans concert - a pop music group popular in the 1960s.

David Chin

Best CUNY for the buck. A real nice campus. Parking is difficult. But nice Quad. I like Jefferson Hall.

Dani Dani

I love this place I went there today It was awesome!,,,,,

Shelly Deen

Grand stunning theatre seating, in Queens! Great for school trips too!

Mahir Siraji

The campus is beautiful with generally nice people. The computer science staff are stellar but the professors for that degree especially the upper level courses are really bad.....you will have a tough time doing the work-life-college balance thing if you want to graduate on time. When ur a senior in computer science department ull have a tough time getting courses for a full time status as most seats fill up..later on u wud b able to pick classes only days b4 the start of class but professors that have a rating of 1 in ratemyprofessor...the department chair does not even care about our voice...avoid if ur a comp sci major....TERRIBLE!

Pooja Gaikwad

Vibrant place. Impressive Student friendly amenities such as halal carts, atms, gym, swimming pool, tennis court, car parking, gardens, playground right in the campus. Beautiful landscape. Impressive library with convenient study space.

Nadir Durrani

It's a nice place to obtain a degree. You have to do everything on your own... The advisors are unorganized.

Maria Wlodarski

The campus is spotless and there is always something to do.

Arjay Nunez

Great teachers. While school ended up not being for me, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for college education.

the time through Queens College is an awesome time, has annual festival with the famous camel visit, Huge library, huge campus, and good views of the City on a sunny day.

Mazal Katanova

Nice campus, but by the time I made it from one side to the other for class, I had no time for a break.

Dr. Artem Yusupov

What an amazing auditorium and performance! Excellent experience, will recommend!

Nafesa Asghari

In almost every department I went staff were very unprofessional. They simply don't have communications skills. Queens college staff needs to go back to school and get some education. Almost every department staff are extremely angry and upset. They all seem to have some issues, which they love to take it out on students. Forget about motivating student on their academic success, they actually will put you down; very jealous. Do not tell them you career plans they will get jealous and give you hard time. Someone need to train this college employees. It feel like this college is from a communist country when you dealing with the staff.

Tyler Morana

This college is awesome ive been here for 5 years learning about special things thank god i pass it

need to be on your best day to go to Financial Aid office :) Help desk is where you'll feel like a volleyball. Because, these people will bounce you around for good reasons or they have no idea what to do with you, but don't worry, you'll end up waiting in that room. the whole vibe is so tense inside the building, even in bathroom. You'll find yourself helping another student out in one way or another, they will give you a look for doing their job, which you should avoid. Don't step outside and get fresh air because that may cost your spot. McDonald got huge touch pads for their customers. I wish my school has one. You should read more reviews about classrooms here. If you don't mind about broken chairs and spiders & spider webs on ceiling. Then this is it.

danlee11

Registrar office is a joke. They have no profession. I get it everyone is busy but you dont have to be rude and rush your students and clients. I spoke with one woman. She was so rude that she cut me off while I was speaking on the phone. Treating me like she wanted to hang up. Very unprofessional and I was shocked that Queens College hires an employee with that attitude.

Mel Marie

Two stars because the campus looks ok. I found this school unmotivating and not very helpful. I decided to switch schools. The science departments (chem and bio) are very disorganized and so is the advising center. I've experienced some of the most awful professors at this school I've ever had (specifically in science). There is no campus life at all. I also think they should include a wider variety of clubs. There are no hobby clubs which are a great way to make friends at college.

Jennifer Rivas

Nice campus, looks pretty in the fall and spring. Icy on the winter, and if you lay on the quad on a summer day you will easily sunburn

Luna Sandler

Probably the best CUNY school. Superb mathematics and physics departments. Wonderful and intelligent professors. I'd go far as to place the QUALITY of education next to the quality of NYU or Columbia. The differences lie in facilities, location, and campus life (as expected from a commuter school). Plenty of buildings. There's always a quiet place to study. Quad is beautiful and tons of events happen. Many opportunities for people wanting to pursue graduate or medical school. QC has a good undergrad research track and is located next to NYpresbytarian (for you med students). The arts are also greatly appreciated here as well and there are many opportunities for English, history, art history, comparative lit etc. majors. Speech pathology program is also one of the best.

Muhammed Subhani

Best college ever, i did my undergrad here. Miss the good old days. Class of 2014

Tolani Aiku

My daughter had a basketball game, nice college

JamaicanSista ROBINSON

The view from Queen College Summit Apartment is spectacular!

Adib Mir

Not judging this based on academics, the area is a mess can never find any parking and there are multiple schools in the area so its more of a nightmare, the campus however is very large and clean

Amie Pherison

Queens College is a very nice and adequate school especially if you are just taking summer or night classes. They have great professors and the people here are very friendly looking for you to succeed.

Mary McGunigle

I graduated from Queens College and the people were very helpful. Everyone seemed willing to help answer any questions!

demetrius lettley

Truly the Gem of the CUNY system. It's an oasis in a concrete jungle. The political science department has a faculty with a tremendous wealth of knowledge, a variety of experiences, and a love of teaching. Professor Krasner is a rare breed!

Richard Guadalupe Lebron

Huge theatre. Amazing sound qualify

Nardia Miller-Mohsin

Went here for a graduation. It was beautiful

Jayson Jay

One of the best CUNY Universities. Located in South Flushing near Pomonok Housing Projects & Electchester Co-Ops off the Long Island Expressway.

Jonida Balla

Queens College has a beautiful campus and the professors overall are great!

Tiffany Sing

Its a good school with a couple of good programs but nothing more than good. the hallways are very small and you always feel as if you are congested. The students arent so friendly but then again maybe it was because i was in high school when i was taking some courses there, so everyone acted all big shot.

Sachin Surendra

Nice place to study I just wish it had been open on a more reasonable basis. after all, as a college with over 25,000 students, and that's only undergrad, the library is a necessity to us

kar jon

This place shows some of the best performances.

Zachary Ehrlich

Queens college. Where to begin. Excellent professors in my experience with a real love of their subjects and teaching. Except cherise Evans. She sucked. Also my wife went here but we never met on campus. We met afterward but it was bc of Queens college that we decided to get married. We wed on campus by the library they rang the bell for us. ‘‘Twas a glorious time. Farewell

Kristen m

1 star is too good for this school! Terrible school for education! They will give a problem about completing state requirements with your degree especially if you are a transfer student!

David Osahon

My Alma Mata. Enjoyed my years here. So proud I got my B.A all by myself through hard work and good support structure.

IntrovertNation TJ

Two graduations I attended were held here. Nice ceremony the halls were kinda small I remember having to squeeze past kids. Expected the auditorium to be bigger. Parking was easy. And officials aided me without problems and in a timely fashion.

Marcelle S

I give a zero to Queens College. too much racism, incompetence and hate from my Jewish instructor of Math. I want to get refunded by Queens college. Queens College is a big joke and a big scam. Stay away from Queens College if you are a BM. Otherwise be sure that you are going to face prejudices. I advise the US government to look out for what happens to black people in Queens College. I felt so much hate from just a minority in just one semester and on top of that I have lost a lot of money, and a lot of energy to study...What a joke! Queens College doesn't worth it. Queens College is such a shame for the USA a country of rights. I was truly shocked to notice that inside a college of CUNY with a pretty good reputation there still is a pretty old school racism happening in an insidious way. Authorities there are such incompetents to hire instructors that have problems of racism. I feel like the authorities of Queens College know about the issue of racism but they deliberately ignore it. What a shame!

Nizar Farsakh

Nice spacious campus. Everyone I interacted with was very polite knew what they were doing. Not very fancy but that is expected since it's a college with limited resources. The tech folk we're on top of it.

Ann Hedonia

The students put on a lovely lovely production of a Christmas Carol

This is a great school, I loved it, but I have had a false bill on my records. I have always paid my bills except the last semester which was in 2009. And every month, I checked and they told me, that is all I owed. Well in December 2013, the registrar lady told me I owed in 2008 and 2005. I told her, that is a lie...even the bill they sent to the collection agency was just my last bill bill (2009). But she was defiantly arrogant and self-righteous in having me to pay something I already paid for. She insisted I bring a proof that is probably over 5 years and it was already cleared. I mean I was at the bursar every month since 2005...how is it I would not have known it or brought to my attention or a mail or a phone call till recently. Do yourself a favor, and go to another school. You don't want to finish paying and 10 years later, they still stamp a bill in your name and demand proofs. This is the worst scheme and nobody is willing to do anything even though they understand the situation. The president is unreachable and the bursar people are rude...otherwise it is a great school, great campus.

Great teachers and atmosphere, register office is surprisingly slow. Media department is a bit rude. Every other department is friendly and professional.

Natasia DaSilva

Decent education and teachers. I had a good time there. However, their bursars office put a hold onto my account. It is still there even though I graduated two years ago. Everyone is confused there and the administration is terrible. It is difficult to get any records from them if you have any kind of hold on your account and the staff has horrible customer service. They do not treat their alumnis well at all. How could I still have any kind of hold on my account? I no longer attend or even work at the school.

Vanessa Candelaria

Nice college I graduate from here in 2005 and staff was very helpful and nice

ran yi

Beautiful campus with pretty great professors. I'd say probably the second best CUNY school

Christopher Graham

Rated number two in the state for the best bang for your buck education. This school is the hardest endeavor I've ever taken on but all the while I remember the school name is recognized at all major colleges for graduates across the nation as well as in the suny state wide colleges. The point is, if you get a chance, go to this college and get the best education in the 50 states by my opinion.

N N

My daughter's school visits for kids events. Very beautiful, great kid friendly environment. Impressive center for children to become groomed in the arts at an early age. Anyone can appreciate the beauty of this center. Multiculturalism is at its best. My family and I can't wait for her next visit.

leo

Queens College has one of the best art programs in New York, the professors there are dedicated to raising the bar of learning for everyone!

Mayra Núñez

My experience here is not what I expected and was so excited for. First, they never changed my email on my application when I first applied and called and asked them to. Therefore, I did not find out I was accepted until literally a week before classes began — imagine how fun registering was. Second, I was misadvised into a major that was not for me and on top of that, I was registered by someone in that department for classes that were basically too advanced. This literally affected my entire semester negatively. Third, not a great variety of majors for a school that is top 15 in NYC. They’re super behind technologically, at least compared to other schools and it’s really inconvenient. Nassau Community College was 10x better and makes me wish it had been a four year so I could have stayed.

Trevor j

Love the Campus setup

Katrise Goodlett

My son and his team Show Stoppers won the Championship while playing here for the AGame Tournament

It must be a convenient location if you live in Queens area. Queens college is a good choice if you want a continuted education, not very high accept requirement, and valuable tutition. The staff and professor are nice. Love this campus.

Aegina Barnes

Queens College has am impressive lineup of writers, performers, and speakers throughout the year.

Anthony Cinquegrana

Bunch of criminals. I transferred from Nassau Community College and they're requiring me to retake three classes I had already passed at Nassau. They also have this general education requirement where I have to take a writing class and a foreign language class. Two classes that have nothing to do with my major. It should have taken me 12 classes to graduate, but with these 5 classes they're conning me into, it's going to be 17. They are crooks!

Jay Ramos

One of the best colleges to become a TESOL teacher, the Linguistics department has the most compassionate, and knowledgeable teachers in its field. The campus is probably one of the larger ones in the CUNY system but it has an amazing view of the City from the fountain. the student body are generally friendly, all of their student assistance offices (Bursar, Financial Aid, Admissions etc) are extremely helpful and most are friendly as well. I loved this school.

Deepinder Singh

The campus is just gorgeous. The internet through wifi isn’t good but with ethernet is super fast.

Gianina Green4

My mom use to goes to this college when she was 18 years old

Nicholas Stebenne

Excellent performance space. Great college!

Ely Liberov

My mom briefly went to school here, nice campus good people

Kevin Ramsar

Queens College has THE SAME ACCEPTANCE RATE as NYU, and NYU has hundreds of majors to choose from whereas Queens College has about 80 majors. Although Queens College is a pretty convenient college if you live in Queens. and its only about a 30 minute drive.

Milly Ortiz

It's beautiful and you get to meet nice people

Kissena Fibleuil

I love Queens College! I got my bachelors in Theatre-Dance here and am going back to complete my Masters in Education. The Education department is amazing and I haven't had one teacher that I didn't love. The Education program is rigorous and will prepare you for the classroom. As a POC I haven't felt discriminated against, and I am actually happy with the diverse student body and faculty.

Jared Brennan

Although I received a highly useful degree from a great dept., I have had never ending difficulties with the financial aid and registrar offices.

Will C

Has three really spacious auditoriums, and can be used for graduations and cerimonies. Very clean and modern facility.

Milton Kaplanidis

It's okay here, this isn't my favorite school I've attended but if you stay on top of your classes and choose good professors the school will be nice. I highly recommend the winter and summer programs here because they have been more than pleasant. I'm rating on a biased feeling towards it; but the school is overall decent.

sham khu

The Worst College Anyone Can Go To... If you have to go here then go otherwise there's better colleges in NY. Staff literally dont give a s**t about anyone its like they want you to fail out. Coming from a straight A student at My Previous College (Adelphi) I hated this college. After wasting 2 years of my life i finally transferred out and graduated from NYIT as a straight A again. The worst College ever.

Mary Allen

Worst graduation ever. What was supposed to be a great celebration turned into a platform for political garbage stating the "white man" is keeping you down in the workforce. Why bring politics. Were all here celebrating our accomplishments. Keep it at that.

Steve Kerr

Worst cuny ever!!! This school is terrible in every single way. Just go somewhere else

Really knowledgeable staff and faculty. Focused on science and art.

The future is here. It strangely looks like the past. The future is far from what we envision it’d be. But I felt it..for two years. The best university in New York. Integrated with the world, not a sterilized cube packed with stamped scholars who mold minds and regiment the pupils and deliver them to the system as perpetuators. No, Queens college does not have that agenda. And if you’re pursuing to be assimilated into the system, you better think twice before the enrollment. Na na na :) This is my last semester at the art department. I am taking a class at the history department and am enjoying every second of it... One more thing! The art studios are huge! You should have a loner mindset to fully enjoy it tho. It gets quiet sometimes....sooo quiet December 28, 2018 I evacuated the studio. All shrank in two suitcases, one red, and the other blue. I am not sad, nor happy. I had stopped being an inseparable part of the studio long ago. I realized, half way through the program, an obvious fact. That the studio space is just a contract that I should not feel too settled in. I had to find a more reliable and sustainable space. Might be social media (before the virtual empires/dictators rise) or a piece of land. I like the second better... The studio is empty now. Ryan will move in soon. Its raining today.

sanae angelique

Gorgeous campus and very well organized! Free parking and awesome rotating stage!

AJ Freedman

Good place for an affordable education, but you need to be the top of the class to get a good job.

Elan Weinreb

Saw conclusion of Horati Israeli Dance Festival at Colden Auditorium. An unforgettable experience, especially seeing the wheelchair-based dance group, Galgal B'ma'agal.

Yfane Lafortune

Campuses is outstanding, but when it comes to professors

Melanie Chin

This is the WORST CUNY school that I ever attended. If you want to see a well maintained school go to the CUNY Graduate Center!

Vicky Great

I’ve attended and visited various CUNY schools, Queens College is currently the worst on my list. What i’ve noticed is that transfers students face more difficulty in Queens College (QC) than New students (attending QC right after high school). Transfer Students always want to make sure their on track, taking the right classes, questioning why they have to take courses they’ve already taken, needing an advisor, etc. Fine, you can say we’re quite needy. I’m sure new students face these issues as well; however, they’re just not as needy as us. However, we’re never getting a direct solution to those simple issues. Our issues are constantly ignored, there’s no administrative staff willing to help. Seems like they make bets to see which one can get rid of you quicker by sending you to another department or treating you like an imbecile. There’s a huge risk with the professors you take and the hours available for classes. Some professor know the material by heart & are Amazing! Other professors are completely useless and ignorant, you’ll pass the class and will not even know what you should’ve learned. I rarely see security around the campus & the public safety office seems like a complete waste. Some times there’s no guard by the gates. No guard asks for ID upon entrance or walk around the building. If this is a real “bang for your buck” school, then I must be too cheap for not investing more money on valuable education elsewhere.

Jimmy Bhalla

My experience was excellent. I graduated with a degree in Economics. I got my BA here. I look forward to getting a good return on my college investment of time and money.

Mirosław Siemieniuk

I've heard lots of positive opinions about this college. My son wants to study there. Im keeping my fingers crossed so that his plans would be fulfilled.
