I'm a new student, and so far it's been a great experience for me, i have no problems with the staffs, but will update my information after a year... Remember, it's never about the school, let it be about the students making it happen for themselves, approach everything in life making positive and you shall succeed. Don't become your environment, let your environment become you. Be blessed!

Went here to study for my BA in Communication Design. Wish we had more campus space to sit outside. The library is too small for the amount of students we have. Hopefully the new building being built across the street will have great perks for students. Great thing about our campus is that we are just 10 minute walk from brooklyn bridge park! An amazing place to have lunch or even study.

Noone is ever available to help. Majority of the time. Everything is over crowded with people giving you 1 word answers. I don't have a single clue about how to apply to college or enroll and I'm overwhelmed with everything. Noone helps me and I'm just standing there in a crowd holding documentation lost as hell. Someone has to either hire more staff or do something abit more different here.

Falling in love with it already....can't wait to fulfill my dream course with this inspiring school....it isn't about going too a great and massive school, it is about gaining and impacting what we call knowledge and WE ARE ALL GOING TOO DO THAT TOGETHER!!!

I must agree with an administration bad attitude there , but do you know who made them like that ?? Dumb "students". Most of the people there are extremely lazy, rude and expect to get everything easily without any work. Good and willing to study people are punished for that because its only few good ones per class. Most of proffesors are great , but they don't have great students to make their class interesting . When proffesor says to read and prepare for Lab experiments and no one does .....what that proffesor can do. I would fail everybody who didn't prepare , but proffesor politely reapeat everything. And what I hear from students who did nothing ??? " OMG...THIS PROFFESOR IS SO BORINGGGGG". It should be financial cuts for bad students. Most of them have school free, extra money and bad grades. I need to work, pay for everything by myself and I can't study on good level because of lazy kindergartens. It doesn't make sense. College is not a place for funny things and attractions.... If you are a hard working student , you know that.

First off they need to fire and re hire half of their professors. Most of them can’t teach. Or they have accents hard to understand. Its more likely to Pass with a C than it is to pass with an A. Even if you tried really hard to get an A. The male staff in the cafeteria are either pervs or rude. And on top of that they only give us one cafeteria with 200 seats, when the school has over 14,000 students. They open a whole new building, and didnt even give us a new caf. Like come on out of all things a new caf is what we needed. The namn building caf gets so crowded in the afternoon, its like theres no point of even going. You wont find a seat.

City Tech will leave with a depressing feeling until you leave. The students are arrogant considering you're getting dis out Walmart level education. The staff is rude and there's a high chance that they'll lose your documentation. The teachers can't teach. The courses are introductory at best. The tech ducks for a technology school. The location is on a busy Brooklyn street. The students are nosy and bothersome. The vending machines either don't work or rob you. The place is what I imagine he'll to be. I transfered out. 73 percent acceptance rate and 15 percent graduation rate. Enough said. Get your associate here then leave. Don't stay here. It's a scam.

The admission lady was very rude and disrespectful. I was trying to submit some forms and she was so rude through out the convo.

My acceptance into the "Medical Laboratory Program", was almost put to a halt corresponding to the bias opinion of a female professor from India. My placement into this program was contingent on my grades. A white male professor reviewing my grades said; " It seems you have the prerequisites and the grades to gain acceptance in this program. BUT.... A comment clearly expressed from this Indian professor was; " You can't let him into this program!" And he said; " He has the grades and prerequisites." I can't see why I can't accept him into the program. ". She then added, " He can't be accepted into this program because he's.... Do you know what high school he graduated from? We have students from prestigious and reputable high schools and they don't make it. What makes you think he'll make it into this program!" His remark then was, I can't deny him entry when he has the entry qualifications. Her final remark was; " then it is up to you." His face was reddened and he clearly expressed embarrassment with her remark of...." he can't be accepted into this program because he's...... ". Must admit, the program was tough....but this Puerto Rican descendant made it too, in spite of, " because he's.... " A continuation: after graduation from this program, my 1st employment's salary was $5.35 cents an hour. If I would have elected to work in house keeping, my salary would have been $6.00 dollars an hour. I got a scholarship to attend NYU Medical Center. My salary before I retired was six figures. Moral? The university and the program must B a carefully, well thought-out choice. Because ultimately, the final choice is always yours!!! Continuation 2: A student objected to the extreme difficulty of this program. He said; the nursing program is less demanding and the pay is better. The professor's response: You would look real nice in a nurse uniform. Also added: This is a institution of higher education, not a institution to get a job!! Moral: There is never justification in defending a program's extreme difficulty by utilizing negative and destructive reasons, that undermines a student's genuine concern in succeeding in a program, with the lack of compassion and understanding to the student. This is clear notice to you, to leave this institution and program.

The workers have no manners, they are as harsh and rude as possible

I just dropped my classes from this school and let me tell you the school environment makes you feel very uncomfortable and the rooms don’t look like real classroom most of the staff there has an attitude the school calendar is inconsistent to the point where some of the professors don’t know when the changes happen. The school overall isn’t good and it’s like a big scam ready to rob

David Daveed

A lot of improvement has taken place in terms of building and management. Considering the fact that the school is Technical (Engineering) specialize there has been more 4 year (Bachelors) program introduced and as well as other programs such as Nursing, Radiology, Dentistry and so on got way better. A lot more socializing will occur when that Gym building is completed. Job opportunities are continuously introduced (i got one through the school myself) By the way, City Tech is the second best school to study Environmental Control Tech.(HVAC)

Mukhjinder Singh

Terrible college. Sent my tuition bill to collections without even notifying me once. The professors and facility are mediocre, and even diploma doesn’t have any value for advanced job market. I would avoid this college, and rather go to Brooklyn college instead. This college shouldn’t be named as technology school, because everything at this school is outdated. Beware you will be screwed at this college. This college should go back to trade school, or community college.

César Infante

Not the best place to go. This place sucks and looks like a high school... I’m finishing my degree, then I will go somewhere else. You gotta be picky when it comes to studying. RUDE STAFF, and always DIRTY, SLOPPY, and never clean. Don’t get your bachelors there.

Kathy Stanley

My son filled out his financial aid in march 2016 and has not received his financial aid which is still under review by the financial aid office, a year later. The women in the financial aid office are horrible. The administrative staff is horrible. They have very bad attitudes, they misinform the students and make mistakes without taking responsibility for them. The school is a rip off. They prey on the innocence of the young adults, whom are eager to start their educational career. It's a shame that an institution of higher education is burden with ingnorant "adults." Parents be warned. The condition of the school is as stated in a previous post very accurate. Not an environment for thriving and studying very gloomy and dismal.

Erica c

I went to visit the school to get more information on it, the staff was horrible. The school itself is like a prison, right when you get in there are cops, and cops patrol the building often instead of school guards. The school seems unfriendly and you feel trap. The building itself is falling apart and again feels like a prison just being in it, regardless of the cops. The professors are arrogant and don't help you at all, I am not a student but I spoke with some professors in order to get more info on what it would be like to transfer here. I already come from a school, which is a state college and that school is so much better than this school and cheaper. The school I went to has upgraded technology, cheaper, and even if it's a state college it seems like it's a better place to be than this place. I suggest the building get remodeled, the staff gets fired and replaced with friendlier and helpful people and the professors learn to teach better and learn to communicate efficiently. The people there act as government workers, they have that kind of personality. So if you are wanting a real education and a happier environment then pick some where else. Don't fall for the graphic design academics they have, even the illustration courses, it's a trap. Also, they put up illustrations from students that look like 2nd graders made the art, not to offend anyone, but it just goes to show what the competition is like. If you want a real education and a better way to show your stuff off then please pick another school, this one isn't for you.

Nia Garcia

Some office staff have bad attitudes. Staff in nursing program are terrible and they aren't helpful. Nursing program at the private school I transferred from was way better. Technology never works (ironic), but the professors in the business department are good. food is mediocre

I was finishing my Bachelor Degree in Communication Design; concentrating on Motion Graphics; and they cancelled forever two of my major’s classes, Motion Design II & Broadcast Design II. They wanted me to take some other classes to replace those two but I didn’t want to do it because I want to take classes that will help me on my future to getting a job. So at the end of the day I ended up on dropping this college. I only needed 1 more semester to finish and because of them I could finish my dream career. Is pretty sad to say that this college is trash, they only care about their money.

Chip Scott

A great opportunity to study Entertainment Technology with industry professionals.

Henry Gomez

City Tech is the epitome of amateurish, the idea that it considers itself a college borders on fraudulent. Do your self a favor, if ShityTech is the only "College" you were accepted...beg your Highschool to take you back. I promise you, you'll never know the difference.

My 5 stars goes to Ms. Nicola in the student welcome center. She's the only one I could get to help a confused fairly new student after 3 days or more of running around. She was so patient with such a calming, kind voice. I hope there are others at the school like her. Please God

Luiza Kharlashkina

A good place to finish Associates just to transfer to a better college. Im a Liberal Arts and Arts major and 80% of my professors (mainly in basic math, English and psychology) have been very inspirational and showed passion towards their taught subject. I would ONLY recommend this school for the purpose of keeping your GPA high and transferring to a better school for bachelors through PATHWAYS.

Rafael Gonzalez

Went to the registrar's office to ask for a verification of enrollment form and was threatened by the staff as they refused to service me. They tried calling security when I simply asked them to do their job. Stay away from this place until the culture changes because the way it looks you will be treated worse than a criminal.

Mark Maizonnasse

Nice university close to the brooklyn bridge and its bike lane.

Megan Gelin

This college is Oh'kay. After transferring here from another CUNY school, I'd say this is a downgrade and less appealing. One thing, if you need to do any quick fix for your major to receive financial aid, you can go to bursar and get your hold lifted for an hour. One Asian lady I went to said it wasn't possible and told me "it's not that much money" when most college students already struggle with that. I'm on my own with not the best circumstances so I feel that was rude of her. But go to a nice woman of a different *background* and she'll give you what you ask for. Sometimes it's a lot of running around with this college because one staff will say another and you won't get the results you need running around. Always do your research and directly contact the deans instead if you can. Or maybe I can be of service to help as a student guide for my last semester here...

You get out of it what you can. Faculty - Could be better. I feel that they will do what they can but don't appear to go the distance. The ones that do, I really appreciate, helps a person who is just trying to get some answers. Another thing that I have always struggled with is calling in, is almost never successful. You are always better off showing up in person or doing your best to set up a time and date. Professors - They have great ones, good ones, and those that act like tyrants. In the end, they have knowledge I need, so you have to work with them. Students - Very diverse mix. Expect anything. Beware of the leechers, they will have you do all the work if you don't crack the whip. Remind them that's just not how you do things. Overall, it's a decent college to go to in my opinion. For what you pay compared to other prestige schools, what else can you expect? Get out of it what you can. The school does offer great resources. You just gotta find it.

Erick Suazo

Spent 4 years here and the school never offered students any sports. They didn't even have a gym while I was there. There were very few recreational activities. It's supposed to be a school based on technology but any other college you can think off has better technology than this school. Do yourself a favor or your kids in not sending them here. The only thing I rescue from this school is that they have some really good professors that's why I give them 2/5 stars.

Okami Dy

This is a place to LEARN. They have great professors that are very much involved and available with the students. Workload is fair and is up to you to make the most of it. Compare the syllabus to one of the more "prestigious" colleges and they use the same texts and resources. Everything is there and available. I can tell that the student demographic is the problem. Their attitudes towards education. Most of my classmates just wanted to pass and get their degrees, but never showed the thirst for knowledge that one must have to be successful. They didn't go to class or did their assignments and halfassed their presentations. Others, did an amazing job and I feel relieved because they are in my field. People complain about the lack of amenities, but they recently opened the new building with a gym and other things. They have ping pong, billiard, video game tournaments, fitness center. Granted, the registrars office never answers the phone idk why they even have one. However, I have always had a quick reply of each individual department when I contacted them. This is a great college. If you want to learn and put on your big boy pants and do what you have to do, you'll have an awesome experience. Make the most of it, listen to the professors, go to class, ask questions ENJOY THE ACADEMIC LIFE.

The staff in the new student center are so rude

The_Louis_Mx

Wonderful University, I've had the privilege to be living in the dorms of the university just across the street and I was amazed about the efficiency of the campus, all of the buildings I've been was great. The Teachers, great, people in general were great

Karen Drea

Has some of the most unprofessional, lazy staff members. You can tell they hate their job. Google will help you more than the staff here.

Bella Twerk

I went to nursing school here. Did my Associates and Bachelors of Science in Nursing both at city tech and highly recommend this school. Funny that a lot of these bad reviews are from students with bad grades who didn't get in or didn't get into the program of their choice. Listen, this school is competitive and it doesn't have the newest computers because it's CHEAP. If you are smart you are going to get a great education for FREE or very cheap while our neighbors at NYU or LIU are paying 30k per semester and will graduate with a ton of debt while ultimately earning the same salary as someone who graduated from City Tech. So this is what you do: be mature, get good grades , get in and get out!! The entitlement of kids these days is unreal. People at the admissions office don't HAVE to be nice to you. It would be great if they were, but why do you care?? Get your stuff done and move on with your life with no debt. Leaving bad reviews based on Long lines or whatever is stupid. This school is offering something great for FREE if you get financial aid or much cheaper than other schools. Take advantage of that! I was making $18k a year before school and now make $8OK a year thanks to my cheap nursing education from city Tech. Wake up kids!

Aay Waters

why do people rate schools off of people who work there ?? that makes the school look bad, please rate it if you have attended or have any incentive, you’re not helping anyone out complaining about how rude someone is

I am a currently a student here, and I must say I cant wait for the year to end. I got into other cunys like Lehman, York, and a few others, but I decided to go here since many of my friends were coming here. Worst decision ever, everything is nasty here. The building is very old, terrible staff, very unclean, and just depressing. I feel like I am in high school. But at least the teachers here are great, friendly, fair and helpful. Don't come here, seriously, I wouldn't want my little sister to come here. Cant wait to transfer. Did I mention that only a few students actually care about their academic life, the others are just here because they have nothing better to do. OH THE GIRLS ARE AMAZING. Update: So my first year at City tech is over and today I transferred and was admitted to The city College of NY through direct admissions. I can't wait to start at a more revered school. My time at City tech was a roller-coaster ride of emotions. I would get depressed as soon as I walked into the school. The mood, the lighting, the atmosphere, all of it felt dead. The whole time I was just hoping for a quick year, get over 24 credits and nothing less than 3.5 gpa so that I can transfer easily. I am happy everything worked out for me, for those who only got into this school, don't feel down on yourself, work hard, get A's, and you can move unto better things. It's not a school of many serous students, yes you can find pockets of conscious students, but more often than not you will only find laid back, careless people. I personally can only function with highly motivated crowds. City tech is good enough to do well in, but if you want more out of your college experience in my humble opinion you wont find it here. The school has an exceptionally high acceptance rate, which means they accept almost anyone with a pulse.

Raheem Fadeko

I went here and thought it could have been a way better experience. If one or two people former / current students are saying its bad I'd pay it no mind. But if a good majority of current / former students is saying you guys are horrible.... maybe it's time to listen!!!

Tironsivjeter Shehu

True, the office part of this school sucks big time. People that work there are burnt and do not feel like seeing anyone that approaches them. They do forget that we do not do what they do and there is no explanations to the dry requests they throw at you. When I registered I had to go home and come back for three different documents. Granted, we should read the requested list before getting there, but if we did everything why would we need paper pushers? Once you are registered, admitted, and settled in the field of your choice (also lucky enough to not have to go back to the offices ever again) you're up for smooth sailing. Just like most schools. this one has a hand full of dedicated and aspiring professors as well as some lazy, ignorant a--holes, that stopped trying and stopped perfecting their craft once they got PhD attached to their names. The computer field is the most noteworthy field in this school, just like economics is to Baruch or law is to John Jay. Other fields wouldn't be that much recognized (hopefully things have changed in the last 2 years). Cleanliness in the place isn't that bad, considering there are 1000 unruly pigs roaming the premises at all times.

This school deserves ZERO stars but unfortunately you have to give them one in order to leave a review. Today was the FIRST and LAST time I will EVER step foot into "city tech". I stood on line for admissions for about half an hour, not too bad. When I got to the window there were 2 older ladies sitting there HATING their jobs. Both women were EXTREMELY RUDE !!! My first encounter was with "Dorothy", she had a nasty attitude, talking to me as if I was stupid. When I got asked to hand her the money order I was confused because I had called the day before and the woman I spoke to said they accept cash. I left city tech and ran to the post office to make the money order at 3:40pm because the office closed at 4:30pm. when I came back to the office Dorothy was busy with another student so she asked the woman next to her to take care of me (of course in a rude manner). I did not get the second woman's name unfortunately, she has extremely short hair, bald almost she is an older woman. That woman's attitude is off the charts. She asked me for my money order I had it ready she asked for my ssn and my documents, looks me up in the system and says extremely loud with a sarcastic tone and face "you got denied from this school , your gpa is not good enough here .. why do you think we denied you? Did you think you were going to get in now ? Like I'm not understanding" I responded to her "why are you saying it like that, that's extremely offensive" and she replied " what's offensive? It's true". I was extremely embarrassed, a line behind me of kids waiting to speak with the same woman who yelled that I wasn't good enough for this school. I am disappointed and disgusted with the type of staff this school has they're so discouraging. The way they talk to students trying to apply is not acceptable. I would not recommend anyone to apply directly you will get the same women and they will be just as rude and disgusting as they were to me. I gave student affairs a call so hopefully they will take care of the problem.

Jonhny chan

If you want to learn nothing, this is the college for you. Many but certainly not all professors there are arrogant. They look down at the students attending their college. The staff will give you classes carelessly. They don't care if you learn anything with the schedule they gave you. They can have an EE major taking an art class but missing a math class on their schedule,Or CS major taking chinese class instead of a math class. If you are smart, avoid attending this college at all cost. You will waste your money and time otherwise. They don't expect their student to learn much either. They force you to take elementary classes despite you have shown them the proof of mastery of elementary concepts. They also change what they promise whenever they have excuse. They penalize people for the sake of giving penalty despite wasting their time. Definitely the worst place to learn anything. But perhaps a nice place to waste time and sit through.

Irakli Goginava

terrible place. terrible staffs

rigo hernandez

This is the worse school i have ever being to. The staff, especially the ones in registrar all need to be fired. They are very very rude. I guess their parent didn't train them well. Disgusting. I wouldn't recommend this school not even to a animal. That is how bad it is. However, I have to say some of the teachers are excellent. If it was only the teachers i had to deal with i would give a 4 or 5 star. Most of the non-teachers need to be replace, especially the ones in the registrar office.

Keith Razack

Horrible school. The admissions section is incapable of getting anything done period. If you were going to listen to any advice, avoid this school. The campus is rotting from neglect. The teachers on the most don't seem to care much to give extra credit while making their tests difficult beyond comprehension.

Sagrey Turjo

Currently studying in this college. One of the best colleges under The City University of New York. Everyone is friendly. and a lot of opportunities hang around the college. A great place to start a career.

Umeda Mahkamova

Hi, I'm transferring from Nova College in Va to City Tech. Can somebody tell about architectoral technology, please)

Rafael Yau

City tech is a great school, they have great engineering programs. Also a awesome hospitality/culinary program. Lots to do in the school from join fraternity to clubs. I recommend join your school activities like clubs to met new people and make new friends.

Eric Smith

Even though I was born in New York New York City is one of the best cities I've ever lived

PeiYun Lu

I am a current student in CityTech for the past two years, and all i can say is, this is really a terrible school. First to start with, the faculty here are the worst, literally. All the work they do takes forever, and oftentimes, they do the opposite of what you ask for. On top of that, they give you really bad attitude as if you owned them money while in fact they only have their paychecks because of the students. As for the professors, I have to be honest, very few of them are sincerely helpful or care about you. As a matter of fact, I would say 7 out of 10 of them really do not, do not, do not care about your education goals, or anything. Secondly, anytime you need some information, they either push around the responsibility, they give you the wrong information, or they tell you DIFFERENT information. Also, they don't even show up in their said office hour, supposedly a time to help and discuss with students, and only keeps students waiting in vain. Or when they do show, you either get a feeling of being rushed so they could get off and do their other works. As I soon am going to transfer to other school, I couldn't be happier to get out off this school. I 100% don't recommend anyone going to this school: you are not going to learn; you won't be looked after by cared professor; you are only wasting your time, energy, and, if, money. However, if you don't care about anything above mentioned, and just need that degree papers, I would say go ahead.

初始之零

I am a high school student that about to become one in city tech, but the sevice attitude make me want to transfer

I majored in Entertainment Technology here, very nice and professional instructors and professors! It just keeps getting better after renovations and new buildings.

A few things you need to know before you apply. I have been here for a year now. These are the few things about their courses, professor, and different departments that I wish I knew before I applied. Registering for class. The first time you come, you need to visit the new student center and have the staff register for class for you. The problems here is they don’t have enough staffs at all. People that come generally need to wait for 2-4 hours in a small room before they get called in. This situation will last for months from June to the last date for change of classes. If you want to change your classes, it will be another few hours of waiting. They operate extremely inefficiently. The courses: City tech offers many superfluous elementary classes that are useless for their four-year programs. For example, algebra-based physics, and some lower level math classes. These classes are set up just so that some people can have classes to take. If you take some of these classes, you can easily end up taking way more than 120 credits to get a bachelor. You might take calculus-based physics after algebra-based, and the two cover almost exactly the same topics. It will be extremely boring. It will be a big challenge to graduate on time if you don’t be careful. Even if you can get an associate with these lower level classes, it is not useful when you try to transfer. Many of the fancy classes appearing on their web have not been open for a year at least. After all, City Tech used to be a community college, and its four years programs are not that well organized. Financial aid department: The same problem as the new student center. Depending on when you visit, generally you need to wait for 45mins-2hours before getting called. I visit them 3 times before getting everything done, and I waited for 4 hours in total. Some of their staffs are nice, and some are not. Professors: As far as my experience goes, City tech have some of the worst, and best professors. I have had 9 professors. So far, two were extremely good and two were extremely bad. The good ones teach with their passion and have classes well organized. In my opinion, the two I had would be the best professors in terms of teaching by all standard. Some of the worst ones can have no passion what so ever for teaching. He can reject your homework, whenever he has excuse, and pretend to have not heard your question when you ask. Some of them don’t trust the ability of their student at all. When a student asks an obvious question, she doesn’t want to explain. When a much deeper question is asked, she doubts the questioner understands the question at all. Also, don’t think about being able to skipping some introductory classes here. They can force you to take pre-calculus, when you have a good calculus score to show them. They can make you take the most elementary programing classes when you have learned multiple programing language already. So if you are passionate and have self-studied a lot, don’t expect to be able to learn much in the first two years.

Admissions office should work on their manner. Very rude and disrespectful.

Nasario Maldonado

At 85% of the professors got a good level, in general the college is awesome. Maybe a greater level of supervision over the professor will increased the level of the college.

Natalie J.

I can tell people's reviews aren't great but with my experience with NYCCT is a great one. My class schedule is flexible with my work and lifestyle schedule and the professors aren't bad at all, their actually quite helpful. I'm a full-time Communication Design Management major and a full-time worker (not at the school), and I can honestly say I've never experienced an issue with scheduling or my professor's.

Tracy M.

Admission staff was very rude, I tried to get some helpful information regarding my situation of applying as a international student and basically the women over the phone cut me off saying she did not have time for me with an attitude and didn’t even bother to transfer the call to someone else who can help me since she was unable to. Your job there is basically customer service , if you’re miserable with what you do and you cannot be professional over the phone then do not continue to work there period!

BookOfCroft

This is one if not the worst college(and I use the term college lightly) in th CUNY system.

Ana Rivera

If you do not know what your doing, or what your supposed to be doing in college. Don't go to this school. There are few great professors that actually care and try to help you but it is not their job. I believe those few processors feel sorry for students because they are aware of how awful the staff is there. This school teaches you that there is no help or hope. The staff does not care about any students. Students are in a constant runaround. Here we are as students trying to get an education and our lives together and it seems like the staff want to make it impossible. You can't questions about enrollment, financial aid, registration or anything. Staff should see when a student is interested in learning or trying to get a class, that they are supposed to direct us in the right direction. You can stand 2 hours on a line and get no information, a staff member will tell you, you stood on this line for no reason, they will send you somewhere else, and then the place they sent you to is also not where your're suppose to be.

Mike Barnes

The main problem people make is going for their bachelors at City Tech and unless you're in Hospitality Management, I wouldn't recommend it. What I did, and what many of my friends did, was to get their associates degree from City Tech with a high GPA and then transfer to a better college for their bachelors. Doing this will save you 2 years of tuition at an expensive University and you can still have that bachelors degree from a great college. I got my associates and transferred to NYU-Polytech. My friend got his associates and transferred to Long Island University. My other friend got his associates and transferred to Mercy College and this was just people from my math class last semester. If you use City Tech as a starting point in your education, and not an end point it can be a very good school. Some cons are the administrative staff, the student life, and the surroundings. Some pros are the teachers, the price, and the ability to transfer out. In this case the pros far outway the cons. Take my advice. Get your associates here with a high GPA and transfer out. DO NOT GO FOR YOUR BACHELORS.

One of the Best college in NYC For technical students. Easier to earn a bachelor degree from NYCCT

You pay thousands of dollars for a school that barely has any wall jacks to charge and use your laptop. This suppose to be a Tech College.. what a joke. The food is overpriced and terrible.

Danil Ermolin

Dont go to this school if you fresh out high school, there is very little social life and its not serious. If you dont care about those things, then maybe you should go, it still gives you the education. However, I really hated this place every time I was there.

Most unhelpful admissions and registrars office, until I got to someone that wasn't trying to get rid of my special case. I went from bursar to admissions to registrars office, and back to admissions until someone was willing to out there neck out.

It’s a great of the cuny college among of them. Professors and stuffs are very helpful. Welcome to this college who would like pursue majors computer related major such as Computer Info. system and Technology related major like Civil Engineer, Electronic Engineering’s.

ricky Willism

I worked there in food service and enjoyed the Environment.

City Tech is defiantly better than most CUNY schools and it's in Downtown BK

Kevin

Didn't like this place at first, but you get used to it and it's not bad going here, they have a lot to offer.

WARNING! YOU PROBABLY WILL NOT LIKE THIS SCHOOL IF YOU WANT TO PURSUE A CAREER IN THE ARTS. Every professor I've had outside of the design dept. Is grossly unprepared. I've had a math teacher who teaches his hour long quantitative reasoning class with only short math tutorials from Youtube. The class contained over 30 students and It was impossible to get individual attention. Instead of helping the class, the teacher flirted with girls and talked about how he'd rather be home watching Jerry Springer. This was an early 9:30 am class and I could have stayed home instead since he never engaged the class or entertained any questions. If we did not understand we were told to go see a tutor in the Midway building, a small building City Tech uses to hold classes outside of the main building. The tutor room is always overcapacity with too many students you can barely ever get enough individual attention. I received a low grade in this class having not been in school for a while and I forgot most of the math I learned in high school. Lazy, careless teachers like this are all over City Tech. Of course I've enrolled in classes with teachers who cared about doing a good job but the amount of under performing faculty is too note worthy. I major in communication design. I went to city tech to gain enough credits to be eligible to transfer to the Fashion Institute of Technology where I major in Computer Animation. Having graduated from a vocational magnet school, the High School of Art and Design, then attending the School of Visual Arts, I know what a good art program looks like. City Tech's design department is good for helping students figure out what they want to do in the art world, then go do it at a better school. The New York City College of Technology has a competent design department to say the very least but it is not very impressive mostly due to the mediocrity I see in so many of my class mates. There is no auditioning required for this major so the school sucks up all the riff-raff of undecided young who couldn't get into real art schools. The instructors accept their mediocrity without challenging students to up their ante. The large amount of inexperienced students coming from average high schools with little or no art programs makes for a dull talent pool. Most of the students in the COMD department are just looking to test the waters and be introduced to the field. Every art class I enrolled in made me feel like a big fish in a small pond. Teachers gave me a break on numerous occasions because I knew the material so well there was nothing to teach me. I actually ended up teaching some of the teachers and embarrassing them in front of everyone. I learned nothing new except for what I learned in a 3d animation class. Which is a senior class. I entered City Tech with 40 credits. Normally I would have to take many prerequisite classes before I can take this class but since I already took a 3D class at a different college, I was given permission to enroll. In other words, I was only able to take this class, which is geared towards learning what I actually want to do for a living, because I cleverly exploited a loophole. Everyone else who wants to be a cartoonist, animator, or Illustrator has to take 2-3 years of classes mostly focusing on design. Boring (If this is already your forte). If you are talented and have high hopes and ambitions for your artistic career, do not go to City Tech. If you are 100% sure of what you want to do with your talent professionally and have the grades to go elsewhere, do not go to City Tech. If you want to seriously improve your skill, do not go to City Tech. If you want to study one thing, like illustration, animation, fine art, film, photography, and study it to the max, DO NOT GO TO CITY TECH. It will slow you down with rudimentary courses before you can get serious with you Major's focus. Don't waste your time with this school if you are serious about your art career. Audition for a college that has more specialized art departments, like FIT, SVA, RISD, Cal Arts, SCAD, NYU etc.

The professors are the only good people in the school the administration office especially financial aid is the worst then take a portion of your aid for themselves and they make sure you pay extra by any means necessary no advisors and the workers there are very rude and unhappy I can't wait to graduate to leave this terrible school behind. The school is horrible but the professors are great and want you to succeed.

Reemo Tsukiyomi

Hey! I got really upset about the bad reviews.. It's just my first year, as I've just started college, and I find the college really good! All my professors are really nice except for one.. Well, I mean there just has to be a terrible professor in each college, so don't blame it on the whole college being terrible.

Nicole

The staff in the financial aid office SUCK. This goes to the short hispanic woman in financial aid office who refused to answer my question when she first came around. She came back around and I told her I had a very quick question. She pointed at the wall and said ask her. A majority of the staff is so miserable, rude, and catty. Some staff make going here so unenjoyable especially to a new student. I literally dread going to any of the offices in there.

Omar Francis

College is what you make of it. For me, the school gave me a flexible schedule and I was able to complete my degree in 2 years after transferring from an associate's. Some of the teachers can be uninspiring, but for where I was at in my life, I simply just went in and did what needed to be done to graduate.

Andre Sealy

How did I ever survive as long as I did here is beyond me? Granted, I was a terrible student but the place isn't what it is cracked up to be. There are very few professors who actually care, the place is always a dump (even on the off season, when there are absolutely no students around) and the staff is generally dismissive and unhelpful. You can stand in line and get absolutely zero answers to your problem. Either that, or they send you in circles. Even years later, the only thing I want from this place is my unofficial transcript for a new school, and they still jerk me around. I understand that I can't have my transcript unless I pay the full balance, but why tell me that I'd be about to receive my transcript right away when I can't? Also, the official transcript cost the same as the unofficial one, and they can't hand neither of those to you in person. This can only be done through the mail. I've never heard of that at all. The only cons is that they're making the place look less like a dump. I see they've completely renovated the cafeteria, but I'm sure that the classrooms still suck (especially the ones in the Voreheese building). The price also cost less than your typical public college, but that is about it. I'm really glad that I finished paying off my balance, otherwise, I would never set foot back in there.

Mightymike1040

This school is terrible. The service is bad, the staff/professors are miserable and unprofessional making it unpleasant to spend anytime in this school and if u need help with anything look forward to figuring it out in your own because no one will help you. If ur looking for an engineering school this isn't one. I found this out the hard way after wasting time and money. You've been warned.

I ordered my transcripts from NYC College of Technical University CUNY on 4/11/19 so that I can provide them to the new Under Graduate school of my choice. I fulfilled my obligation of making the payment and submitting the authorization form to the 3rd party (Credential Solutions) and my order was completed. To date, I have yet to have received what I paid for. i am about to miss my deadline and will not be able to complete my enrollment. This is very disappointing considering I allowed for ample time for this order to be completed. Today I was told that the school will give a courtesy "re-send" of said transcripts as was requested on 5/12/19, and if I don't receive them still then I would have to make another order and not be obliged a refund. I am very disappointed in the lack of academic and professional concern for someone who has done all they can to simple get a transcript. There is not way of tracking this parcel that was allegedly mailed to me, there is no refund process , and I am constantly being sent back and forth between the 3rd party service provider and the school with NO resolve as my academic career hands in the balance because this faculty blatant disregard for doing the right thing by someone. This is truly disheartening of an experience. It may just be a stamped and sealed envelope to NYC City Tech but this is my future being held back because of your integrity.

The staff will not give a damn about you, It takes me 3 hours to wait for register and the guys got behind me they are ahead of me.All because they don’t even call in orderly. What a ridiculous school

Otabek Akbarov

Really friendly people here!

Almost Famous

The black woman working in admission is rude and don't know how to speak with manners.

Christopher Lam

worst school in the united states. staff is stupid and suck at everything they do. they look like cows

John Fortenberry

Great HVAC program. But don't choose this school if you will be using financial aid! The office is so understaffed that the given phone# went directly to a full voicemail box for OVER A YEAR. Unacceptable for a state institution.

Michael Chin

I was a Communications Design student studying 3D animation. I so badly want to give 5 stars. The department staff is AMAZING!!! The students are very polite, kind and passionate about their work. During my entire degree, didn't come across a single jerk. Great community. Met some of the best people in my life here, including teachers! However... The staff that runs the school itself (not the departments) simply don't do their jobs. They just couldn't care less about you. And then my final gripe is, wow did I need to take a TON of unrelated prerequisite courses. So much wasted time and money on so many unessessary courses. This really bugs me so much because when I got a related course, it was GREAT! I definitely absolutely would recommend attending here. However, I STRONGLY recommend you look into the BA program. It will allow you to design your own curriculum allowing you to not take garbage courses you couldn't care less about. I wish I knew about BA, but I only found out in my last semester. If you're reading this and aren't close to graduating, GET OFF GOOGLE AND SIGN UP FOR BA!!!

I attended City Tech right after receiving my associates degree from Kingsborough Community College. I wanted to just receive my bachelors degree and leave; not particapating in any type of campus activities the school had to offer. After stepping out of my comfort zone and exploring, City Tech does offer quite a bit for one of CUNY's lowest funded Colleges. I studied Hospitality Management and learned a plethora of things about the industry. The Professors take their time to present the material in a way you'll grasp the content, push you to think about the box, and so much more. While pursing my degree I participated in numerous events like the Mr. & Mrs. City Tech, Spotlight Talent Show, & Gravesend Inn: A haunted hotel experience. All of those productions I'm forever grateful to have been apart of the cast. In addition to the awesome Hospitality department, the Entertainment Technology department is another major that I'd highly recommend. Overall, a great inexpensive school if you decide to step outside of your comfort zone.

Andrew Betances

I guess it may depend on your major but the school in general is not great but also not helped by lazy students who end up taking up work studies or otherwise jobs at the campus who have little interest in their responsibilities. Perhaps 30 - 60% of the professors you will experience are not fit to teach whether they give you an unreasonably easy class where they teach you nothing or an unreasonably difficult class because they just read off the textbook or don't give straight meaningful answers when you ask them a question. Funding for a few majors are lacking. While this school isn't absolutely the worst, avoid this college if you can get into a better one or you aren't completely & hopelessly lazy.

JianBin Chen

Admission staffs are so rude and impatient! I received the email regarding my application, and I was told if I have any question, feel free to email. I have sent several emails, after 1 week, no response. So I call the admission office, that woman is extremely impatiently! She interrupted me many time! And just let me wait for the response via email. In fact, that problem can be solved easily by anyone in admission office.

Sky Martinez

I am having a great experience at this city university because of all the internship opportunities and the Cuny service corps programs. Big corporations are looking to recruit people like me and you and they look for the most competent so they come to the colleges. I am greatful for the vast opportunities.

Marcus Dibble

People in the office are so rude, they really don't care about you. No one cares that you're here and also it's dirty with rats in the library.

Jose mendez

Really focus in make money the staff disorganized most of the time nobody know much about anything. But worse it's admission. Oh my God it's a waiting list for everything . Teachers really good so far.

Saned Ziad

Although the ladies of the financial aid office are horrible, in attitude and behavior of dead communication, plus their unwelcoming and shockingly nasty admission office with another bunch of hypo-arrogant employees, it's somehow a good college, only to finish off your simple credits, improve academic skills and transfer to a different one. I feel sorry for the attractive name of this college, that shocks you with its reality being far from technology and development.

Stefanie Perez

WORSE COLLEGE I'VE EVER BEEN TO !!!!! The Financial Aid Office Is Horrible My Student Loans Came In And They Failed To Pay My Balance And I Was At Risk Of Them Cancelling My Classes. I Was Also Misadvised By A Liberal Arts Advisor (Whom are regular professors) And Had To Have A Law Suit Against Them! This Is Really A Horrible School And Please Look Up The Graduation Rate!

Bengal Tiger

I have spent some of the most memorable moments of my life here! Made so many new friends, and some more people that I disliked! Earned my degree in Comp Sci here! Great and caring professors, guidance counselors here! I have had both Negative and positive experiences here! This place will forever be etched in mind!

Adel Elamrani

The school is alright but the engineering programs here are really underbudget we need more engineering classes with better class rooms and better teachers in the engineering departments please facutly go on rate my professor and read these teachers reviews rmp never lies we need more energetic enthusiastic people with passion teaching engineering subjects you need to hire new younger people and let go of people who cant teach and is only their to collect checks other then that this school is alright it has allot of potential but the President and staff needs to make sure it can get their by putting more money in the right places and investing in better teachers and quality of education and funding of departments please get newer materials and assign better textbooks in the math physics and engineering department with better solutions and more complex problems that shows mutiple ways of obtaining a solutions with steps and multiple ways the problem can be formed or looks like i dont mind paying more for better books or scanning a book in the library for hrs once its a great book or even better have the depatment make the textbook like other colleges with good solutions and complex problems that are shown in mutiple ways with multiple solutions that would really help for physics engineering math and computer science the area is really good and I enjoy going to school the students in city tech are really nice the food is good the staff in every office in the g floor is rude except the bursers office the staff in the new student center sucks the math department is amazing great professors the physics department needs better lecture professors and the school is clean and well kept except the damn elevators lmaooo fix all the elevators

SOUMIK ISLAM

This school definitely has problem dealing woth international students. People work here are not good at explaining or listening quenstions. They dont have time for you. Also they most of them Don't even care! Please be extra EXTRA careful if you an international students so that you do not get into trouble!

JimmyTun3s

I’m a freshmen going to college and I can tell you already from a single phone call for a question they can get a very bad temper real quick, for example she raised her voice saying “You can hold me accountable if anything happens and she hung up on me abruptly after asking how long does the deadline extend to. Bruh

Eaton Malcolm

I’m thinking about going to this school, but I have no clue what to expect. Can someone please give me some information about it? I would like to know if they do associates program and how is their teaching. Do they do X-Rays there as major? Some please help me with my questions.

Yaoman Li

Experience in this College is poor. Some Professors answering calls during the exam very rude and disrespectful to the students who are taking the exam. However, some advisers are very helpful when you need it. Also I haven't got my TAP for two semesters and they did not assist me to obtain my TAP. Overall this college is not very serious on what they are doing according to my personal experience.

kamaljit singh

This school is great for the IT programs. I see so many bad reviews saying terrible stuff about this college but believe me if you pay attention in classes and follow the instruction of prof. they really care about you. This college is for grown up people, you can be dum or smart its all up to you.

Maheeb Chowdhury

My goodness this college is the worst. Even a community college is so much better than this school. The staffs, I have no words. Lazy, Unprofessional and just plain Bullshit. Students who like to come to this college, please don't ruin your future. You will regret it for the rest of your life trust me.

Amanda Martinez

Some professors are great but honestly the staff can be a bit nasty with the attitude. If they don't like their job they should quit, otherwise oh well grow up. I do believe the college is improving.
