6 hours waiting in the ER and the only thing they've done is give my wife some Benadryl. This place is a joke. Medical professionals talk to you like old homies in high school. Place stinks like pizza from the girls that sit around and look at Facebook all night. Better off going to Mexico for medical treatment.

Hospital has good resources. But most nurses are rude, cold, negligent and have bad attitude . I wonder if this is due to high demand or poor training. It is common that a physician would prescribe you a medicine and it could take an hour, and a reminder for a nurse to get it to you. Emergency rooms has shortage in pillows, heat, and most nurses have shortage in compassion. Although this hospital is 10 minutes away from me , .. if my situation is not critical I would drive 40 minutes to women and brigham hospital instead. The general sense here is that patients would line up to be treated regardless of the type of treatment they get from most nurses. And the nurses know that and act accordingly . I hope a hospital's manager who cares enough would read this and do whst is necessary. At least , do a "mystery shopper" experiment to see for yourselves what is happening .

Horrible school and messy administration. I wish I could put zero here! If you are international student, DON'T come to the graduate school; first it's lonely campus so you won't get chance to work with other departments/schools, second they will NOT give you OPT after you choose to quit the PhD.

Usually we have had good expiriences. My gram has been in the icu and had great service and they cared. My brother is innthe east wing on the 4th floor. He has waited on meds, not been washed up, been mistreated, the nurses and staff forget what is broken and literally sat him up straight and his spine is broken. I had to remind the nurse that he had a broken femur and she said "oh yea you are right" too many mistakes. I work in healthcare and i usually am easy on nurses and staff but this is plain old neglect. And i feel so bad for my brother. He got into a horrible car accident and the staff seems like they do not even care.

I'd give less stars but... Last visit, I had broken my shoulder, I was given a pain pill before going BACK to x-ray, I tried to tell my nurse I felt no relief and... Boom, she cut me off, of course I must be a drug addict, I was going to ask for ibuprofen to see if the combination would work better, instead, she made a horrific scene and threatened to have me thrown out!! x-ray had a hard time moving the shoulder and arm to get the pictures needed and when I went back to ER I demanded to see the doctor, I wanted a new nurse, and the patient advocate. The worst ER I've been to!

5 stars because they saved my life. ER is usually packed. Some real great doctors in there and most of the nurses are very kind. But evey bucket of apples has it's rotten ones. I think that they treat everyone like a drug addict even if you're not. It can be upsetting. They just don't give adequate pain management. And 7 hours in a cold waiting area doesn't help a sick person's attitude. But its a big city and only so many beds available so expect delays. I love my doctors and my nurses and aides and all the other staff. Great people. If you need a liver or kidney transplant this is where you want to be.

My side had been hurting for a few days, so I went to get it checked out. I ended up waiting there for over 3 hours. I left because I was so sick of how long it was taking. I could drive to a hospital in another state and get in faster. This was when the hospital wasn't even that busy

Nurses are apathetic and unresponsive. Doctors discharge patients too soon and are not thorough in their assessments and treatment recommendations. After waiting in ED lobby 3.5 hours to be seen, I was brought to an ED exam room where the call light was not connected. I tried to get the nurses' attention by calling from my room as well as going up to them at the nurses' s station. I asked for a blanket, was told by nurse she would bring one, and she then sat back down at her computer. Despite telling attending my history he insisted it was something else and declined to do labs. I tried to get him back to my room to discuss it with him, asked 2 nurses and an aide. Nurse said doctor wanted me to see if I could eat, handed me soda and stale crackers and left. Finally had to call outside hospital phone number from my cell phone to have him paged to my room. He finally agreed to do the labs I requested, to humor me, which confirmed what I had told him the problem was and I was immediately made NPO-nothing to eat or drink! This experience reflects my last experience there 10 years ago. I will go anywhere but UMMC in future.

I would give this four stars, but not after the last admission to ICU. My boyfriend received excellent care in the bone marrow unit, and the ICU staff was fantastic as well. The problem is, while I'm sure it is a great teaching hospital, there are simply too many cooks in the kitchen. Nothing is done until at least three different teams of doctors decide and agree. My boyfriend was in for three weeks for an infection and was severely underweight already. By the time he'd left, he was down 11 lbs more and very weak and malnourished. He needed good nutrition from the beginning, and I practically called and begged for a feeding tube every day. Nutrition only visited him once during his stay and apparently thought he was fine. Unacceptable and just glad they didn't starve him to his death!

The food in the smaller cafeteria is great! The only issue is the menu rotates on the screena, so it is hard to read. Hope the attached pictures help!

At emergency room . Can’t stand after losing blood for three days . Doctored ordered me to go to emergency . Long line for admissions and you must stand no one to ask the people in line if they need a wheelchair etc . Horrible sick people standing in line . Hire someone to direct traffic please !!

The "specialists" in the weight center treat everyone like stupid fat people. Zero compassion, zero respect. Even the receptionists. I learn nothing at every single appointment. It's like they quickly googled "How to lose weight" right before every appointment and read the first page of Google results off to me from their hidden computer screens. Never helpful, always looking down their nose at me. If gain at all at any weigh in close to surgery, rather than looking into the reason, they will swiftly scold you. Clearly I must be eating bacon and ice-cream all day! Honestly, if I wasn't so close to surgery I wouldn't come back here, but I've already wasted too much of my time to change hospitals. I imagine they expect you to tolerate whatever they throw at you because fat people are just so desperate to lose weight we will lose our self respect in the process, right? Wrong. They don't listen to you. Especially the psychologist Jennifer Lauretti. Maybe you shouldn't be in the mental health field if you leave your patients feeling worst than they did when they came in. Learn how to use some proper bed side manner, lady. I'm sure they'll read this and still believe I'm an unintelligent, ill-informed morbidly obese fattie. Ultimately, it's clear they just want your money. Stay away. Find another program.

My daughter went in because she was having chest pains and could barely breathe. We sat in the waiting room for 4 hrs before anyone even looked at her. The whole time my daughter holding her chest, crying and wheezing. Then, when they did finally take some X-rays and other tests, we didnt hear anything for another 2hrs. They said they didnt see anything wrong with her.

Horrible,horrible hospital!Went for regular blood work for my 8 year old today(she’d been sent by her pediatrician)The nurses are soooo very poorly trained.My daughter fainted on the chair because those idiotic nurses couldn’t draw blood and inserted the injection multiple times in her arm to do so!!!And mind you these were 2 nurses in the lab working on one patient—an 8 year old!!!Pathetic!Cannot believe a hospital can be so irresponsible in hiring trained staff.Will never go there.Would not wish such treatment even on my enemies.Not worth even a one star review. The ER is a joke too!Have had to wait hours on multiple occasions,before finally being seen.I’m sure they’re embroiled in various law suits for poor hospital care and practices.Please avoid this hospital if you can.

Worst hospital ever !!! Don’t go there if it’s a emergency they won’t help you for six hours and that’s for sure was not the busiest... I took my 1 year old daughter who’s had a fever for two days with meds her fever reached up up to 104.8 which was scary for me she’s my baby! anyways we didn’t get to see a triage room for almost 2 hours and that’s just to check vitals well all they did was take my daughters temp under her armpit which she didn’t stay still for ? And gave her Tylenol and told us to wait back in waiting room .. as we do this a couple with a child who seems very sick was there before me who still has not been seen yet?? ... but everyone else has the kids they were taking to get a room we’re not sick they were laughing talking having a good time . this women walks in with her child and it seem to me she worked there she had on the uniform and she barely saw the triage she got right in ??? When her child was happy as can be??? the staff just sits outside talking , laughing with Empty triage rooms what the hell ? Anyway so even voicing your concerns to them that I have a sick baby I need to have her check out right away and she’s has a high fever they just say well she had Tylenol so she should be good instead of having some compaasion with your patients !! you wait all this time just for a resident to check your child to say it’s viral ??? My daughters temp has reached up to almost 105 you should atleast suggest some tests ??? By this point you just have had enough .. so I asked for discharged papers and that was even going to take another hour. .. the nurse said. “ I don’t blame you for leaving “ I left I won’t be coming back I’ll take the hike else where ... oh might I add the fake ass security they have going on are rude just empty your bags like no big deal ..... get it together umass I’m sure it has a lot of good things but the emgerncy room needs a lot of work !

Questionable billing practices. They will send multiple bills from different billing agencies/avenues, for different amounts. The totals for charges will be almost 500% of standard charges for procedures. Billing personnel will be rude and even hang up on customers when they inquire about a bill. I personally had a lady say "oh my god, whatever" and hang up on me. This is on top of the fact that the doctors don't even keep their own appointments. On multiple occasions, I've sat around waiting for my appointment, only for the doctor to be a no-show.
