Good so far.
Not all females treated equally, if I am a former woman of Islam, thus being critical at times of the was Islam is used against women in Muslim countries, they are as intolerant as those in Islam force female genital mutilation.
Brandeis U is an excellent school, the professors there are so professional and care about their students. I am going to study there, I am sure it will be a very pleasant experience.
As a "minority" at the University, I wished I enrolled in any other school the entire time I was there. Made the best of friends, but had the worst experiences both socially and academically.
Sorry for this there a bunch of drunks partying every week yelling and screaming all night long they have no respect at all campus police do nothing this year is the worse
fun learned a lot good place for self discovery
Do not go here. I graduated with honors, so I'm not some lazy drop out who didn't like working hard. If you're going into a science major, particularly a softer science, it's not a bad university to go to, but anything else is pretty weak. I did film and arts. Halfway through my time there, the production side of the film department was essentially killed. The arts department was almost literally killed the year before I came to the school (SPRING of 2009 saw a huge controversy with the uni prez trying to sell off the entire art collection to pay some school debts. It was such a huge brouhaha that he had to resign the next year). Should have done my research. The arts have no place at Brandeis. If you want to be a snobby trust fund kid with a degree in art history, then maybe you'll like it, but if you are actually interesting in learning a craft, or engaging with modern contemporary art, then don't go here. I learned quick that you have to teach yourself here. The professors aren't bad, but they're hampered in at all sides by the administration. Intermediate and advanced classes at Brandeis don't even rise to the level of difficulty of introductory fundamentals at many other universities. It would be like showing up for an advanced math course in university and finding out that you're going to be learning pre-algebra. Additionally the actual college culture is very hard to relate to. If you're not jewish, you're not welcome. Well there are a fair share of rich local goys, and token minorities (and even then it's an unfortunately very very white campus), but if you come from a lower middle class or working class background, prepare to feel a little alienated and/or ashamed. Brandeis touts how close it is to Boston, but unless you're willing to pay the $16 round trip fee on the commuter rail just to get to North Station (and then after that you still gotta take a T stop or two to get anywhere interesting like Harvard Square), then you're pretty much going to spend a lot of time sitting around in dorms rooms eating pizza, or getting sick on cheap alcohol. People do not possess and adventurous attitude. Most are sheltered kids who believe firmly to sticking to the rules and doing what they're told. This does not mean that they're good kids, this only means they lack imagination or drive of their own. Freshmen year, no one has a clue what they want to major in (even after 12 years of school). Senior year a large percentage of students will still not know what they want to major in, scrabbling to qualify for whatever major they happened to fit closest to in meeting requirements. Many students will go on to grad school because they don't know how to do anything else, and after another 4 years of school, they have still yet to figure out what they want to do with their life. They've spent most of their lives as students, and they're very good at it, but probably at nothing else. If I could go back in time, and not go to this school, I would. Unfortunately I can't, so I just have to learn from this and move on. Don't make the same mistake I did. EDIT: I'd additionally like to add that this is my personal experience. I do not pretend that my experience is universal to people who have gone to Brandeis. But I think it's disturbingly common. I've never known a university to have such common apathy and bitterness present in the current students or alumni. It seems that for 30% of the campus Brandeis was the best experience of their lives, 30% are neutral and 40% loathed their experience
This is going good, but I have a few pointers. The Brandeis staff are helpful
Avoid at all costs!
Firstly, I agree with the decision of the President in regards to Ms. Hirsi. Promoting hate of one group over another is not part of the Brandeis philosophy. Her comments are just as divisive as those she speaks agaisnt. Now I will fault Brandeis for not thinking it through thoroughly before this drama unfolded, but in the end, I think they made the right decison in the end. As religion is extremely important to me, her comments are offensive to me. But going back to Brandeis itself, it was a great visit. We went to Harvard and MIT as well. We liked MIT over Harvard. Now we like Brandeis over MIT. Brandeis is just very well rounded. MIT produces a lot of graduates who make cool things, but when you are so focused on 1 thing like that, as much as MIT tries to keep you normal, it's just hard to do when surrounded by so many super math, science geniuses. Now Brandeis doesn't make cool things, but they make cool people who probably live a much more meaninful happier life. And you can still get your engineering degree from one of it's partner colleges which is also a great engineering school. If you want to be close to the city you can by mass transit, but if you just want to ride your bike around without fighting rush hour traffic you can. Brandeis seems to offer a real college experience. They take their work seriously and they seem to really care about you. Go to info sessions. They give you so much information that you just can't get from a website.
Brandeis is dope
Love it!!!
I graduated from Brandeis University in 1998. The staff discriminates and allows committes and Trustees to discriminate against Alumni. They also lie to Alumni about finances and where donation money goes. There is a huge Diveristy problem at Brandeis. It took 70 years to have a minority added to the Trustee Board. So you can imagine why the above issues are still a huge problem.
Khadijah Lynch - This school should be ashamed of people such as Khadijah. She is truly racist and should leave this country she so hates
So I have never, actually, been on campus. However, I read that it is great for undergraduate research. They have A LOT of labs for science. I would judge it to be very good for a student interested in the sciences. Though, its predominantly a Jewish population, you will find some other people from other religions. The academics, I think, are great. Speaking of tolerance, please know that Brandeis didn't honor ayaan hirsi ali maybe because of the opposition from outside. Before you guys judge the university, please know that Ayaan Hirsi Ali might have had her own experiences through Islam. However, all her comments are blatantly islamophobic and she has a pure misconception of religion. She only judges a whole religion based on her experience. Therefore, it is not plausible for her to teach students hatred and so much islamophobia. She is purely intolerant and what she says is sickening and is, very much, against the values of the American Constitution.
Great
Especially the number 25 from the men's volleyball team. Ugh...
"Great Place To study With great weather"
That you would choose to allow filth such as Khadijah Lynch to continue to be a student leader, let alone still attend the university at all is vial disgrace to anything higher education.
Great environment
My son was offered a paid graduate degree to Brandeis among others. Although I favored this school because of it"s reputation, I am now glad he chose another because of the disgrace it has shown in it's handling of Ayann Ali Hirsi. It is shameful this school has no guts. Lena
Here is my biggest Dream!
the best University
Great experience as a neuroscience major with lots of independent research opportunities.
Good university, good staff
Last night Brandeis University had a program to celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The students there are extremely talented. The program was spectacular with every minute filled with super-special entertainment. Two very popular administrators organized and ran the program. The students gave incredible performances--singing, dancing, hip hop, oratory, more. One non-Brandeis performance was an amazing troupe of tap dancing teens from Boston led by a master tap dancer. Chills and thrills ran through me when one student sang Sam Cook's A Change is Gonna Come, and another student recited the "I have a dream" speech. The key-note speakers were Jane and Humbert Sapp who are both involved in philanthropy and political action on environmental, education, and civil rights issues. Jane played the keyboard and sang gospel songs. Humbert described how he served as MLK's corresponding secretary for several years when MLK was at Harvard and that they stayed friendly during the following years.
I love working with brandies women’s soccer team practices
Stunning campus, great research for underclassmen, second only to MIT for small-school undergrad funding.
Brandeis is a terrific school and highly underrated. They aren't getting great reviews right now but that has nothing to do with their academic prestige and excellent programs.
Great university. Highly qualified academic staff.
(Translated by Google) The university environment is general and the buildings are relatively worn. (Original) 大学环境一般,楼都比较破旧。
I was a 17 year old freshman in 1978. Dean Stott sexually harassed me and Brandeis did not take my complaint seriously. He was an insidious predator and though I repeatedly rebuffed his advances who knows how many other students' academic careers he undermined. It feels like I paid him and Brandeis for harassment. I was a work-study student and went into debt to be treated like part of a student smorgasbord by a married administrator who knew I was not even 18.
The four years that I spent at Brandeis University were four of the best years of my life. From Brandeis I developed a worldview that "All Things Must-at their best-Be Ultimately Connected Into An Overall Unification Of Science, Humanities, Human HIstory and Civilizational Advance. We have been told by Big History that things have been evolving from simplicity to complexity. Actually the Sciences, Cultural Studies, The History Of Ideas and even the Ethical Monotheistic Worldview speaks to the progressive unification of all things. Isn't Physics looking to find an ultimate unification of all of the Laws Of Physics. Although Humankind has become increasingly diverse, is it not the case that our kind must "Pull together" in order to avoid civilizational catastrophe? We should be inspired to and I am personally working to understand the nature of the elements that are the building blocks of that Civilizational Unification. William E. Baumzweiger, MD
Best place you’ll ever fricking go.Staff is cool and the food/restaurants are amazing!!!
Brandeis
I can not respect Any University that supports the Islam treatment of Women!! Females are human not property, pet, or possessions. Maybe pet is wrong wording; most of us treat our pets better even when we have several.
"Tuesdays with Morrie"...
Brandeis University did the graduates a disfavor by not allowing Ayaan Hirsi Ali to speak.
Great academics, diverse student body, and top-notch faculty.
Brandeis is on the "red alert" list of the Foundation for Equal Rights in Education. The school consistently practices viewpoint discrimination against those who question the school's liberal orthodoxy. When students face disciplinary proceedings, they are not given a copy of the charges against them, and not allowed legal representation. Anyone considering attending this school should re-read Orwell first, and ask him or herself whether the surrender of rights and individuality is worth it.
I like this university.
I had ever attended ISJN at Brandeis university in 2007. it was my memorable experience as an Indonesian studying in US. the place and people were all amazing and friendly. Now, I am preparing to get enrolled at GSAS. English department...
Excellent cosi program
Great University!
Best facilities in a very open space campus. Nice.
Great university academically speaking. Small undergrad size allows for better relations with professors.
My daughter chose Brandeis over other top schools - no regrets. Great school, engaging faculty, beautiful campus.
Great academics. During my time at Brandeis I experienced a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, and received a world-class education.
Lost all respect of as an institution when they let their freedom of speech dissipate at the fear of the ultra-politically 'incorrect'.
If Colgate University has some good reviews, this school definitely deserves more.
as the pictures point out, brandeis university seems like an awesome university to join and to share personal experiences. my only wish is to go there and share my perspective
Great University, especially the Heller school of policy and management. Amazing diversity of smart and informed African professionals. I love it!
