I have a BS and a M.Ed. degree, and I decided to apply for an online graduate program at SJCME. After spending money, time, and energy into the application process, all I get from them is a rejection (!) letter from them without stating a cause. I have never experienced this at any other institution of higher learning, and it is truly an insult! I hope they stop claiming to be "Catholic," as they do not even display common decency, let alone a Christian spirit.

Attending St. Joseph's College was the best decision I ever made. I'm so thankful for the opportunities SJC provided to develop close relationships with professors, explore areas of interest outside of the classroom, and take an active role in campus life. If you're looking for a community where you feel genuinely valued, I couldn't recommend Saint Joseph's College more highly.

I am so excited to be going there in the fall. I love how the campus is away from everything else (very secluded) and i am so happy i got into the school of my dreams! Go monks!

Their housing seemed great, but the college fabricates charges to get additional money and is not easily dealt with, so don’t live there! Classes were great and my daughter did very well academically, but we recommend people live off campus.

I'm afraid I'm not at all impressed with this College. I am taking online courses and my first class was designed by one person and implemented by another which caused confusion regarding the questions and discussion topics. On papers submitted there was little to no advise, comments, instruction, or criticism on content, only grammar. I enrolled one month prior to the start date of the second class to give me an extra month to work on the assignments but it's been a nightmare ordeal to get the college to process the grant money I am trying to use to pay for it. I enrolled two weeks ago and have left two phone messages and an email message for billing. Finally received a call back and am informed there's a form I need to fill out (don't recall doing this for my last class) to get it processed. Would have been helpful had I known about this form earlier, or at least been notified in response to my first email or phone call asking about the hold up. I'm very frustrated at this point as it's been almost 3 weeks now. The system for submitting assignments is cumbersome, and the professors use email to inform you of your grade, they don't even use the system students are required to use to submit. I expected a more streamlined and user friendly system considering the day and age in which we are living. I doubt I'll be taking anymore classes here. Very disappointed.

I'd go there just because it's near a lake!

I have tried to rent the pool there for my 6 years old daughter and have had no success! I had first tried to set a date and it was all booked for that day. I was told about another date and went to confirm but nobody answered or returned my call. When I did finially reach them they had booked someone else. I have now called another couple of times and nobody again has returned my call. Totally unprofessional and now I will try to book somewhere else before my daughter's birthday passes. Btw I am not someone that usually complains.

The campus bordering Sebago Lake is one of the prettiest anywhere. The faculty are devoted to their students. The Science Department was just awarded $657,000 by the National Science Foundation for science scholarships for incoming freshman. I love being in a community that lives the core values of the Sisters of Mercy. And you won't eat better food on any other campus!

Worst school EVER. Send your kid elsewhere, I wish I did.

I have spent close to $15,000 and taken 10 classes. I am 4 classes away from completing the Master's in Healthcare Administration and I just received a letter kicking me out of the program because I took the summer off. When I signed up it was a self paced program and over time they have slowly changed it so that it is not anything like the program I signed up for. It was advertised as self paced and flexible and now I'm kicked out of the program for taking the summer off.

Did not process financial aid, and barred me from completing semester halfway through because I was behind. BEWARE!!

I am taking courses there and so far, I am very pleased. Staff and curriculum are top notch!!

Please tell me why they charge students $8.00 for a simple transcript? They’re basically stealing from us after charging over $24,000 for tuition. This place is a joke and I hope it closes soon. So happy I left.

it is the best

I love teaching at Saint Joseph's College because of the community we have here. What makes this place special? First and foremost - my students and my staff and faculty colleagues. We're a small college where everyone knows each other. At graduation, the graduates march past everyone from the housekeeping staff, the facilities crew, to dining services, coaches, and faculty. Hugs, handshakes, high fives abound. Academically, I love that I can get to know my students, watch them grow, go out in the field with them, and provide research opportunities. We're a small institution where students can make things happen - in extracurriculars, on the playing field, and in the classroom and lab. As a faculty member, I don't have huge course rosters, so I can take the time to work with students one on one and troubleshoot difficulty with course material. Students just have to stop by my office or drop an email... and if they don't, I go find them! We're in a special place - on the shores of Sebago Lake - a trillion gallons of pristine Maine water and one of the cleanest lakes in the country. At the same time, we're just 19 miles from Portland an incredibly fun and vibrant city. All in all I think our students get a fantastic individualized education at SJC!

One of, if not, the worst school in Maine. It's actually quite expensive, there are much better schools for the same price.

Karen Stevens

Not the greatest online FNP program. I gave 2 stars because the instructors and advisors were great. That's about it. Just be prepared for many changes throughout the program and stay on top of deadlines because they will change on a moments notice.
