It’s hard to get ahold of anyone at the financial aid office. When I enrolled I was not told how much I would pay out of pocket I was told towards the end of the quarter that I owed $4000.

Great environment in the heart of the loop, knowledge professors and helpful financial aid programs. Great way for a suburban person to experience city life.

TL;DR STAY AWAY! This School provides a high school level education at a high cost! I'm currently in my second year and I want out of this place. Robert Morris University is pretty much a joke and most other colleges don't really take it seriously. That said, for the most part, the cost of tuition is way too high and they're probably going to raise it next year because everyone is leaving. Most of the students here are on scholarship through athletics. These kids are sometimes accepted on talent alone and fail once they start taking classes. Because of this, most of the classes are "dumbed down" so RMU can deliver the piece of paper to these students without them fundamentally understanding what they majored in. Don't be surprised if your biology class consists of middle school experiments and building paper airplanes (this is an actual example, not kidding). The math is about a high school level, and many other professors use class time to force their political views (liberal and conservative) down your throat. As for the core (major) classes, the teachers will try their best to cram a semester (30-40 weeks) worth of material into ten weeks with the results you'd expect. This meaning, you will come out feeling unprepared and inexperienced in comparison to other similar academic programs. The professors in most core classes are nice, but even they are overwhelmed with trying to cram everything in such a tight time span and you will only come out with a basic skeletal understanding of your degree, making you barely "trainable" coming out of college, the average salary coming out of RMU is about $31,000. You could easily make this much in four years moving your way up at McDonald's, without the debt. The institution itself prides on getting you in and tossing you out as fast as possible, even when they put you in classes that delay your graduation. Don't expect any help or insight from any service that the institution provides. The academic advisers will just put you in whatever class they want to put you in without any input from you, kinda making you feel like you're in high school. Advisers will also often guess what you will get your bachelor's degree in. The result being very odd class placements. The student resource center (which they love to tell you about at orientation) is a sham to get you to apply, and while they brag about giving away free Lollapalooza tickets and such, this NEVER happens. The "student resource center" is essentially an email blast about different clubs that you could find anywhere else. Financial aid will mess up on a regular basis, so make sure you keep them in check. Seeking financial aid advice is a bureaucratic nightmare, but basically your "financial aid adviser" is there for show. You can go all 4ish years without talking to this person once, instead you will talk to one lady who handles everyone's financials. This school will not help you at all with any sort of intern or job search at all. They view it as their job to cram whatever they absolutely have to in order get you a piece of paper and toss you aside. As such, you will suffer from the consequences of the expensive, self-serving, ill-preparation that Robert Morris University engages in. Apply to any other college downtown and you will probably get a better deal.

Robert Morris University is a great place to go to school if you are going into culinary arts. The Culinary Arts program is really great. You learn so much and being accelerated, you graduate earlier than most universities.

Horrible horrible!!! I spoke To Ruth Cruz earlier this year about starting in February. She specifically explained to me if I was to start in February I would owe $1000 out of pocket. I asked her why when I completed my financial aid and had two pell grants. She explained to me I did not meet the deadline, however if I started in July I would not have to pay out of pocket. Ruth stated to me there is a deadline when doing Fasfa. If you don’t complete it in enough time a student can owe out of pocket. I called her yesterday to confirm what day school starts in July and she told me the 16th. I then went on to confirm what she had told me back in February of this year regarding aid. She starts laughing saying that never happened and I would have to pay $700 out of pocket for the semester! Like what ? Excuse me what do you mean it didn’t happen? I am not pulling this information out of my ass. I know what you told me I wrote it down. What that comment means to me is that she just told me anything to get off the phone ! And I don’t like that nor want to be associated with that behavior. I told her I will attend another University and hung up on her worthless behind.

Staying next to their team at a hotel. Disrespectful unruly kids. And their chaperoon isn't much better. Not a good look for our country's future professional athletes in the making. They kept us awake till all's hours of the night. When we politely asked them to keep it down the chaperoon gave us an earful. Someone (wonder who?) removed our do not disturb sign during the night and slid it under our door.

Staff and professors are friendly and have real-world experience in their industry. ICenter projects allowed me to work with real clients in the area before I graduated and entered the workforce! I was able to get a whole quarter's worth of classes waived because of high school AP classes and graduate with a bachelor's in 2.5 years :)

This school is only after your money. They will do everything they can to get as much of it from you as they can. DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL IF YOU ARE A VETERAN ESPECIALLY They will take ALL of your VA benefits, even if you withdraw from the school they will wait two weeks to process you paperwork and then charge you the tuition for those two weeks. THEY DID IT TO ME. I asked to withdraw on 20 MAY 2013 (the end of week three, beginning week four. They didn't process my request until 28 MAY. When I got the bill they charged me OVER half of the tuition rate even though I had only been in classes for 1/3rd of the quarter. This is what I had wrote to them: Hey Ad#$%, I need to know if it is too late to withdraw/drop. My financing did not got through because of my academic probation. I spoke with the financial department, we tried to set up a payment arrangement but I would not have been able to make the first payment before my account would be sent to collections. What I propose is that I withdraw from this quarter, I would only owe what is on my account for the books I bought ($361). That way I can easily pay that off when I get my first check from my job and continue to be in good standing with Robert Morris. They told me that if my account went into collections that I would be blocked from enrolling next quarter. By next quarter I will have an income to set up a payment plan to pay for the first quarter that it will take in order for me to get off of academic probation. By RMU allowing me to withdraw this quarter without penalty, beside the book fees, I will easily be able to pay that in order to stay in good standing so I can re-enroll when I am financially able to (which I believe will be by next quarter). Once that quarter is over and my grades are back up, I can reapply for my veterans benefits at RMU. Can you please let me know if this will work for the University. This was the response: From an academic stand point, the deadline to withdraw without penalty is by the end of week 2. Students can withdraw any time after that until week 6 and receive "W" grades for the quarter. As for what you would owe financially if you withdraw at this point I cannot answer for you. That is something you would need to speak with the financial services office. I'm afraid they are going to tell you that you will owe partial tuition for the quarter since this is already week 4. OK fine, withdraw me then, a week later I got a bill for $4000 when tuition for the quarter is $6000. DO NOT GO TO THIS MONEY HUNGRY SCHOOL. They don't care about you, only your money.

Robert Morris University places high importance on ensuring students are more than part of a census or number in a report. Faculty and Staff take true interest in their students beyond the classroom and for years following your education. Small class sizes and lots of one on one support make this a fantastic choice for education in the Chicagoland area.

This is the worst university I have ever seen. They said the students can apply for a grant, before application to the university and Later when the admission procedure is done and time for fee payment they asked me to pay the full tuition for the semester and said now that the policies changed there is no such grant provided to the student. The policies will be changed anytime there. And because of this I withdrew from the university and they denied to refund my application fee which was non refundable . Reason for withdrawing was sudden policy change without notice to the student and has been applicable to the student who had got already enrolled . When I was there to attend the very first class , at that time they are informing me. Because of this I wasted the time and the money and They denied from their words which were told earlier to admission for this purpose I asked them to refund the amount but they did not. It was all their mistake , inspite of loss I requested them a lot to refund the amount they just ignored my emails. I also asked them to transfer me back to the school which they did as quickly as possible without the acceptance letter from the school am supposed to be transferred.Otherwise no school transfers the student to the other unless they get the acceptance letter which they did and this clearly states that it was all their mistake and purposeless denial. Please be careful and have all things in written form so that they can't deny from what they said.

Great university with a great accounting program and staff is very knowledgeable. However, a majority of the students are loud and obnoxious during class and forget about being quiet in the library. Go somewhere else for some peace and quiet.

Good school while i was attending it but a nightmare afterward, $40,000 in debt for a $23,000 degree that didn't even have a graduation. Should've went to a Community College or CCC.

I was attending RMU for a while and passed all of my courses without any issues. However, this summer term I had Professor Nessar one of the IT professors who refused to teach. He wouldn’t answer any of my questions, explain assignments to me or verify that I had the essential tools to pass his course. I reported him to the Dean of Students over the IT Department, who basically told me “We have received your emails where it shows you have reached out to Nessar on multiple occasions. Yet, the amount of times you reached out seems to threaten and Nessars is in fear of his life because you emailed him asking for help.” Instead of allowing them to suspend me, I withdraw and decided to take courses elsewhere. It wasn’t until recently that I attempted to return to RMU and they informed me I was denied re-enrollment due to social options. How do you deny someone re-enrollment for asking a professor for help? First, they said academic reasoning, however, my GPA was in great shape! So the reality is if you seek help and inform higher-ups on not being helped. All the professor has to say is he doesn’t feel comfortable teaching you and RMU will gladly deny you. Do I feel as if I was racially profiled? Yes. If I would have been a student of another ethnic group then the matter would have more then likely resulted in a better outcome. However, since I am an African American Female, we aren't expected to get treated the same or receive equal education opportunities. The entire time the Dean of Students sit there and looked at me as if he wasn't interested in my concerns and had decided upon a decision on the matter as soon as I opened my mouth and spoke.

No one here cares about you. From financial aid, to the Deans and the advisors and professors. Not one person will genuinely care about your success. All they care about is getting you off their hands. I was both in the undergraduate and graduate departments and Akkawi and the undergrad advisors are absolutely awful. No one cares about their students. Maybe that's why they will merge with Roosevelt now, so they can get the bad reputation off of their name. If you don't pay attention to your classes and charges you will be screwed over and forced to pay for an extra quarter. They choose your classes for you and they don't put them in an order that guarantees you'll finish in the time you want. Terrible.
