I completed the Mission of God class Spring 2017, and really enjoyed the class. The professor was wonderful and encouraging, and the course content was engaging and thought provoking.

Julia Haneca

Cliquey, white, stuck in their own ways, not very academic. Just go to a real university.

Alumni, go Vikings! If you are looking for a small Christian university in a big city, this is the place! No scholarships for sports but tons of intramural activities! Don't eat at the cafeteria unless you are willing to eat surprise foods.

This school is an absolute joke. If I were to describe it in 3 words they would be; thieving, uncoordinated, and unprofessional. After attending for 4 years and still not being able to finish because of multiple reasons, I needed to write a review so others dont make the same mistake going to this absolutely overpriced "university". one reason for example would be being locked out of your account and not being able to choose classes up until all the classes you needed to take were filled up without a possibility of joining them. Throughout this time you're running around from building to building trying to figure out why you're locked out and to your suprise NONE of the staff, in multiple departments, can answer. Then surprisingly 3 weeks later your account is unlocked but the classes you need to take aren't offered next semester so you have to wait a year to take the class. Suprise! Another reason is the fact that they try to over charge you at literally ANY point they can, i constantly checked how much I owed and a few times the school tried charging me over $1,000 extra out of the blue, anyone going here please calculate how much you're being charged and how much you should actually be paying. Lastly, even though there are many more reasons, is how sadly uncoordinated the school is. Communication? Yeah I dont think so. You can as 3 staff from the same department and they will all tell you different things and it's pretty much on you to figure out yourself which one is correct. Again I absolutely do not reccomend this school to anyone, unless you want to waste your time, money, and honestly your well-being going here. Again this school, not worth calling a university, is a joke.

*Christianalert!* Terrible for nonbelievers and extremely high rate of cheaters, never experienced that much cheating in my whole "studentcareer".. Avoid doing something you will regret, do not apply to NPU!

If you are from the east coast or do not come from a Christian background, you might struggle to fit in here. It may be liberal for a Christian College but in comparison to most colleges in this country it is straight midwestern conservative. There are so many Christians that if you do not follow their practices you will quickly become the 'devil at work.' These people are superstitious and vanilla. At least in my experience. The quality of education is atrocious. I haven't been challenged in a single class I have taken throughout the past year. If you want a real education, and you aren't a bible thumper, than go to a big name school like Depaul or Loyola. They offer more scholarships, which makes it as affordable as North Park University anyway. If you are in any way a creative person, North Park will stunt your growth. The demographic is the same. Christian, white and Swedish Covenant. Its hard to do anything within the school without belonging to the Christian Church. I tried to volunteer for a program over the summer and all of their programs are Christian affiliated. When I told them I wasn't Christian they would not recommend me to go. At least be challenged in your college experience. Isn't that what college is all about?

Currently a student at North Park University! I really enjoy being a part of an amazing community. It's a new home away from home. Thankful to all the north parkers who opened their arms and welcomed me!

North Park University has been a wonderful place to earn my master's degree! Professors have been challenging and supportive, the campus is beautiful and conveniently located just a few miles from my home, and advanced 7-week courses was just what I needed to complete my degree quickly. I love this place!

I am in my second year here and love it. They do a great job of being a part of the Albany Park community. The class sizes are small and professors care about their students.

Quite possibly the worst university in Chicago. Some of the teachers are amazing, don't get me wrong, but the curriculum is totally bogus. The credits hardly transfer anywhere, depending on your major it's hard to find a tutor, the students are cliquey, and the food is terrible. Oh, also if you run into a Title IX issue, North Park will do EVERYTHING in its power to cover it up. If you tell, they'll do everything they can to get rid of you. Save yourself the money and headache and go somewhere else.

North Park has taken care of my Dad's needs in the past and I followed in his footsteps even though I was a little indecisive of what direction I was going in. The small class sizes were and are definitely a plus --with that you get an almost one-on-one Professor to student attention and teachings--simply awesome in comparison. I actually veered off for a year but came back to finish up and was the best move I could of possibly made for my life and my family !!! The old restored building are fantastic from an architectural and nostalgic feel and atmosphere as well. (Did I fail to mention this is a great College/University?!! :)

I was bullied at this school. Instead of addressing it I was forced to leave because they cared about their image more than my safety. I was attacked physically or emotionally and I had to find help on my own. If you are not white or an evangelical christian you won't feel comfortable here.

Admittedly, I'm bias--fine, I'll own that. This is an awesome university and it's just that simple. It's not overly Christian, and gives students tons of freedom to make good ADULT life decisions. I'm in the graduate program at North Park Theological Seminary, so I've studied at a state university (Virginia Commonwealth University). This University is rare, and there is no other way around it. They actually invest in their students, classroom size is manageable and faculty are top-notch. I can say about the graduate program most, if not all, are published with books and academic journals. While the faculty is short staffed at the seminary, they're cognitive that oversight and working towards more faculty. Okay, last thought, North Park offers a good mix of academia and practical ministry preparation. When I was looking at Master in Divinity programs I found myself seeing universities error too far on either side of the spectrum. NPTS lives into the tension of offering both. If you're thinking of going into non-profit, or theological studies--this is a great university to study at.

North Park University is a pleasant place. It is a small, community-based school where relationships are important. It is incredibly easy to make relationships with students and faculty alike. Faculty is accommodating and cares greatly for the academic experience of their students. The University is expanding and renovating the campus to accommodate more students as well. The University is Christian but it requires no statement of faith. It is non-intrusive for those who are not religious, and allows those who have a strong faith to celebrate and fortify said faith. I recommend this campus for anyone who wants a kind, community- based atmosphere in the large and limitless city of Chicago. It is the best of both worlds: the intimate nature of a small university with the options of a vast city.

I hate North PARK University with a passion. This school honestly will find any and every way to steal your money. I woke up out of my dorm to use the bathroom at 6 am this morning, I returned to my room to find out my school ID wasn't working. I'm fully aware, that sometimes this happens. And a quick charge up can fix the ID. I went downstairs to asked the desk attendant where I could charge my school ID. After he pointed it out, I tried to charge my ID and it still wasn't working. Finally, I just asked the desk attendant if he could call someone to open my door. He told me I would have to fill out a lock out with a $5 fee. Mind you since my ID was not working, I Obviously will have to purchase a new one for a $10. SO in total as a broke college students who's already paying over 5,000 this semester to live on campus(That I already can't afford) keeps getting done wrong by this university . I just know if i lived in a apartment, I wouldn't wake up to my key not fitting the door. For all I know, Npu probably pays someone to randomly shut off students IDs so the school can get extra funds..

Probably the worst decision I could've made to go to school at. The neighborhood is dirty and the people are rude. I can't even go down the street without being cat called or whistled at. The cafeteria is disgusting and the food they serve usually isn't cooked all the way or causes stomach aches. The meal plan is required for students who live in the dorm, so unfortunately I still had to pay thousands of dollars for food I barely ate. I know several people who have gotten food poisoning from eating there. There was recently a flood in my dorm room, which they haven't reimbursed me for any of the damages to belongings (including a new Macbook). Also, the cafeteria just had a fire that caused students to evacuate. North Park just isn't for everyone and surely wasn't for me. But overall, I do not recommend going to North Park University.

I give them a 0 Its 100 plus degree outside and the have high school and college students staying there with NO AIR CONDITIONING !! very dangerous

While I attended North Park I experienced severe DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. When I told the RA in my dorm hall he filed numerous complaints that led to me being further punished for disclosing the violence. I do not recommend this school because they do not respect the rights of their students. They are also very religious and oppressive. If you are not extremely religious, this school can overwhelm you. Also, if you suffer from depression, or are experiencing trauma, please do not report it to the North Park university counseling center. They will not aid you in your struggle but will set unrealistic, humiliating and invasive expectations until you break down under the stress or they force you out. It wasn't until I threatened to sue them for discriminating against disabled students that they gave me room to breath. They still never left me alone until I transferred. I am grateful to be attending a better and more equipped university.

Good school but high tuition. That why there are only a few thousaund students study here...

North Park University is one of the greatest places I know of in Chicago. It cares for students in a holistic manner: spiritually, academically, and physically. The new facility that is being built on campus is going to be state of the art, but the facilities are already up-to-date.

My school, loved it

Anados Defered

Small class size. Local commute. Easy to navigate campus. Good academic reputation. Grants and scholarships made it affordable. Had an excellent education in certain areas, in others, less so. Enjoyed classes and friends. Many good memories. The reverential "Learn of me" statue of Jesus. Knew it had a church affiliation. Was not prepared for its oppressive policies. Toxic provincialism as forced chapel. Conversations, not just with missionary kids, underscored an insular viewpoint grounded in (social) justice and faith. Urban Chicago as target for change. An emphasis on non-profit programs and business, its two remaining National Honor societies, made sense. Parochial attitudes bordered on intolerance of difference. Yielded separation between on and off campus, church versus Other. Protective conformity not individuality. Showed itself in unexpected ways. It was there with some instructors. Global evangelism permeated, contaminated school philosophies; linchpin for its all consuming drive to raise ever more funds. You will get out of North Park what you put into it, but you have to put in a great deal. Nothing easy here. Global perspectives. Not critical thinking. Multicultural diversity. Products not people. Prepare for a Christian life of significance and service, here. If you are so inclined.
