These people are criminals. They are only after your money. I came from a private school that when I dropped out never asked for a cent. These people, however, charged me up the wahzoo for being an out-of-state student (whatever fair I wasn't in Idaho for a year yet). I find out in the middle of my first semester that I can get a tuition waiver, so I waddle my 8 months pregnant butt down to financial aid and find out what I can do to get that. First, they tell me the ONLY way to be considered an in state student is to work a full time for a year. Come to find out, that's not even true. Anyways, I get the waiver for next year. Well come April, I have my baby boy who has a cystic lung. He requires major surgery at 4 months old to remove that part of his lung. I try to schedule the surgery before school starts, but the surgeon only has certain times available. I have to schedule it when school starts. I'm now behind. Plus, I have my infant son who just had major surgery and I've been in the hospital for days. My husband is also gone for work a lot, so I have this brand new baby who is very sick, a house, a car, myself, and school to all manage. It's too much, so I decide to drop down. I email all my professors and advisor. Turns out I can't because the waiver has a credit requirement. So I have to drop out because I can try afford the extra charges. Well fast forward to Dec (that was Aug) I get a letter saying I owe 7000 to the university for dropping out. I get ready to call them and bam new letter saying if I don't pay it by Jan then it's going to collections. This is the first I've Heard about it. I call the University and I have to petition them in order to get it refunded. It is now in the middle of January. I have finally found out that they have only refunded a portion of that money. So I am responsible for about $2000 still. They also have suspended my financial aid meaning that I have to do another petition and order to even get financially and write an essay about how I can be more successful this time around. It is just 100% the most ridiculous and corrupt University I have ever dealt with. The headaches never end.
