First of all I would like to say everyone is going on a different path so it depends on you. But my first year here was good, not great. I have observed and witnessed the atmosphere. Honestly, if you aren’t in a sorority of fraternity campus activities can be fairly boring. The East Commons and Z6 food area is the same foods, we need way more options. Clubs are rare and fun to join not to mention you’re out in the country so if you don’t have a car-hope you find a friend. As far as internships go, good luck finding one for your major. Try to work connections where you can. The Student services I will say is pretty good. Academic, Counseling and Tutoring etc, this school does care and that’s one of its strong suits. But one thing it is horrifically lacking is the ability to involve events, for fun to gather the students. It just needs to do more to include everyone

I commute to UWG- it is a great school. That being said, there are often armed robberies, carjackings, shots fired incidents, etc in the areas close to campus. I would never want to live nearby.

Really love this University. Lots of events to participate in and a great overall campus and environment. Very diverse and friendly with staff and faculty who are eager to help. Not to mention the myriad scholarship opportunities, as well as the relatively low base tuition cost.

I am very proud to call UWG my alma mater

Pretty good, but the parking rules and bus schedules are atrocious. Needs urgent improvement in that area.

Taylor Seamon

Terrible parking options, campus police are difficult to deal with and wouldn't take me seriously when my car was hit, and constant notifications of armed robberies close to campus

I'm a graduating senior and I've spent all four years here at West GA. I have to admit that I chose to come here because I couldn't afford to go to the school I actually wanted to go to. West Georgia is decent compared to what I've seen at other universities and what I've been told by friends at other schools. You'll definitely receive a good education as long as you study and do the work. To me the thing that keeps UWG a three star school and not a five star school is the campus culture and Carrollton itself. I believe that all departments here on campus are blessed with a faculty of brilliant professors. I've done a lot of self exploration here and have tried several different majors and I've never had a professor who didn't love their field and education. Throughout campus we have new facilities and a lot of good equipment available to all students. The tuition and fees are a lot cheaper than many other schools of the same rank and size. Out recreation facilities are awesome and I highly recommend using them. We also have bike lanes and bike rentals so you don't need a car. Also West Ga has one of the prettiest campuses in Georgia if not THE prettiest in GA. I've been all over from Valdosta to Savannah to Georgia Southern to Georgia State and UGA. No school in the state can really compete with West Ga's campus in my opinion. A lot of the students here chose West Georgia for it's laid back atmosphere and it's party school reputation. As a result I've had to deal with a lot of under performing classmates over the years. Every group project I've worked on has had at least one slacker which was hard for me because I came from a high school with an honors program where everyone cared about the assignment and class in general. At West Ga it appears that a significant portion of the student body mainly care more about parties, hooking up and hanging out than they care about their education. There is a drug and alcohol culture here on campus and I recommend all freshman take a class called "Personal Wellness" to learn about the dangers drug/alcohol use can have on your mental and emotional health. Weed is the most common thing on campus but there are hard drugs that students use as well including Cocaine and psychedelics like Acid. Drugs and drug users should be avoided; I say this because every person I've met who uses substances have allowed their habit to negatively affect their school work. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. I know a lot of people think smoking weed isn't a big deal but it is. That's all I can say and I know people are going to do it anyway and not listen but you can't say no one ever warned you. Underage drinking is also really popular here at UWG but to be honest I've never heard of a college where this doesn't happen. It doesn't help that there are several liquor stores within walking distance of campus. Also the bars on the square never pay attention to i.d. Don't do it. Its stupid. Its illegal. Its a waste of money. All your dumb friends who try to pressure you into drinking are dumb and you'd be dumb too to listen to them. Carrollton itself is a pretty crappy town to be honest. There aren't very many job prospects for students who need to work, I know because I've had several jobs around town and on campus and none of them pay well. If you don't have a car getting around town is very difficult because there is no public transportation, very few taxis and very few sidewalks. All of the apartment complexes in Carrollton are terrible. They are all over priced and not very safe. There is a lot of crime here in Carrollton, which sucks because I chose West Georgia over my other back up schools hoping that a small rural town would be safer than Atlanta.

They have the worst police Dept ever,I make deliveries all over campus,I delivered food to arbor view on 8/11 this officer was hassling the s*** out of me for being on the driveway between bldgs a&b,he claimed it's a sidewalk and threatened to give me a citation, what kind of s*** is that?

Worst collegiate experience. To say the least this school is money hungry. LITERALLY CHARGED FOR EVERYTHING to compensate for them reconstructing the campus.

Was in town for a graduation. Very well maintained campus. They were very accommodating and handled traffic very well. Even provided shuttles so folks didn't have to trek up that hill.

Took my daughter on campus visit day. She wants to be an RN. Lots of new buildings, well equipped labs, all the admissions people i met were wonderful and informative. If you don't want large university or small one, this school is right in the middle. The campus is beautiful with a 24 hour cafeteria that will cook something off the menu for you.

I visited the campus for a conference and was disappointed to find my vehicle was hit while I was inside. My review is low because of the poor service of the UWG Police Department. Getting a copy of the accident report was an excruciating experience. I called many times of the course of two weeks to get the report. Someone finally answered the phone and helped me, but it shouldn't be that hard to talk to someone.

Beautiful campus but there are no maps anywhere and it took me forever to find the bookstore because google maps kept taking me to the other side of the campus. It was really frustrating for me, since I'm an online student who was just trying to buy a book and start my summer semester. Beautiful campus, there just need to be some campus maps somewhere! PLEASE!

The University of West Georgia nurtures a caring, committed faculty and helpful student services which foster the necessary academic learning environment needed to further anyone's educational enrichment.

My experience with West Georgia was pleasant and unpleasant, not all the staff members and people were unethical when dealing with people with disabilities. my God-daughter was there to explore the preview week with her mother who had suffered a stroke and her mobility was a struggle for her to get around. We were given a ride to the afternoon festivities and then from there it was a struggle. the people with disabilities act was passed to make accommodations for or have accessible ways for people to get around. This was not the case at West Georgia. One of the Ambassadors of the event promised she would get a golf cart for us and told us to have a seat. While the band played we let her mother sit and we took pictures and as soon as the band finished we were trying to get to the dormitories. the ambassador never returned to us and no one with a golf cart either we observed several golf carts go by and no one even asked "May i help you madame". She had to struggle to walk from the Arena where the band played all the way to the dormitories. I would like to say thank you to the members who helped us out. The preview member who first gave us a ride. Christy who talked to us at Bowdon hall and personally took it upon herself to find us a golf cart and have compassion to help. also, Thanks to Ethan who gave us a ride to the School of Nursing , and the young man who made sure her mother rode the elevator to get from the bottom to the top floor. Also thanks goes out to the parents of these students because they have raised their children with compassion for human rights, and the kindness to help and that could drive them to be the next leaders of tomorrow. My God-daughters excitement to show her mother that her first born was making the right decision to go West as the President of the college stated would be recalled with tears for her Mother having to struggle to see where she will be living and get around on the college campus. Also thanks to the Administrator over at the School of nursing who greeted and made sure my god-daughters visit was not ill- measured. Thanks again do not want leave out the people who cared, out of the picture. The people with disabilities act was passed to make sure people with disabilities are not left out. It does not take a lot of effort to show compassion and goodwill and an act of kindness in this world, but we try to establish treaties with worlds and countries afar and that takes a lot of preparation and work. The tears we all shed on the 2 November 2014 will help instill in all of us to keep going when nothing or no one is there to help but yourself. While I do not expect a apology or special treatment. I feel that the President should give some kind of ethical training to the campus as a whole to make sure everyone knows how to treat people with disabilities. Today's students are educated in all areas of expertise , the education of human rights is far more important and acceptable for our youth and will better prepare them for greater accomplishments. But for the rest of what I saw we liked the environment, my god-daughter made her decision to go west. While she is preparing to go to off to school we as a whole, we try to teach her compassion and service and kindness to all people. To care for a life is a moral capability and to have compassion to help others is a god- given talent not all of us have this quality. May god inspire and bless us all!!!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! UWG STAFF IS ONLY THERE TO TAKE YOUR MONEY AND FAIL YOU! THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT TEACHING. GO TO A COMMUNITY SCHOOL WHERE THEY CARE AND YOU CAN LEAVE WITH A MARKETABLE DEGREE! UWG PRETENDS AND WANTS TO TAKE YOU SO FAR AND MAKE YOU HAVE TO CHANGE COURSE. SO, THEY GET MORE MONEY OUT OF YOU. UNTIL YOU GIVE UP AND HAVE NOTHING TO SHOW FOR YOUR EFFORTS. YOU CAN HAVE A 3.5 AVE. AND STILL FAIL OUT OF A PROGRAM.

One of the most loveliest campuses in the USSA! One of GEORGIA'S finest educational institutions many people in other states are envious of for good reason. Research psychology is just one of the great aspects of this scenic, serene campuses in the state of Georgia. And the view of the city of Atlanta from I-20East is breathtaking!! Thank you for your steadfastedness and dedication to continue offering superior education always conscious of the human factor in your research programs. Kudos to you.
