This University belongs to the category of University.
Beautiful campus in one of the most incredible cities in US.
Good luck trying to get your admissions application through them because if you have any complications their admissions assistant is so no help and very rude! I applied in end of August and have called twice since then and it is now January and they still have not processed mine and have not sent me on single piece on information to even say i’m missing anything. You’d think they would be very advertising and interested for you to attend their school but not at all and the admissions assistant just pushes you away even more! Huge waste of money to even apply!!
Nursing department .....RUDE
GPA 3.2? You can apply UGA. They almost accept everyone...GIT and Emory are more selective.
Overall I am pleased with the quality of the eduation I received. I have had some excellent professors. If I was rating this school based on them, Armstrong would have five stars. But I experienced a lot of unethical behavior in Armstrong's nursing program; it was a very damaging experience, to say the least. Not only were there problems with the faculty alone, but they failed to address much of the unethical behavior that occurred in my nursing class (extremely bad harassment, cheating, and politics). It has been so bad that I have not been back to school in years, and I am a straight-A student. So thanks for that.
I want to go here
Armstrong
There definitely needs to be another parking entrance that doesn't go through a pedestrian walk way. Beside that, there's a lot of good plants and flowers and the biochem department is LIT
Amazing University!
It was definitely better as just Armstrong. The merger ruined a lot of what made Armstrong great, especially the class schedules, classes required in general to graduate, etc. ASU will always have a place in my heart but GSU will not after this horrible merger.
Great professors for the most part. Watch out for financial aid and admissions. If you are not the type to fight for what you need, consider somewhere else
While I am somewhat biased as an employee of the university, I feel this college is one of the best kept secrets in Georgia. Small enough to offer great a community feel, but large enough to offer amenities, Armstrong caters to a wide variety of students. The academics are surprisingly rigorous, the staff incredibly supportive, and who wouldn't want to live 30 minutes from the ocean. If I had children, I would be pleased to send them to Armstrong.
I think AASU is an excellent school. The smaller amount of students per class gave professors an opportunity to focus more on an individual student's progress and difficulties. All the professors I had were excellent because they were very attentive and very knowledgeable of the material they were conveying to me. I also enjoyed the convenience of a smaller campus getting to and from classes.
Staff was friendly and food came very quickly. The meal was hot and delicious
Great school
The best school ever, quality of education, some what safe, and you will see diverse group of students from all over the world.
My Neice will be attending Armstrong in the Fall 2012, and we went to orientation on Saturday, which took the entire day! She will be living in one of the dorms, and must say was not very pleased about the idea at first, BUT once she seen the pool, and that they had movie night, she was sold. She loved the environment found everything easy to get to. The orientation was very detailed, and my brother also spent some time with campus police and him being a skeptic came away very impressed with what they offer. They are very excited about the upcoming FALL!
Lovely place! Really like it.
So this review goes out to the College of Health Professions. Recently my wife has been trying to go back to school to get her degree. I won't say what but it is involved in the department of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Sciences field. This past year has been torture on her. Not because the classes are difficult but because the administration is deplorable, lazy, unprofessional, and educationally lacking. One "Professor" in particular is teaching my wife's class without a degree in the topic. How can you "teach" CT to future technologists and not be certified to operate a CT machine?????? This is just the beginning, because not only is this McGee teaching a course she is unqualified to teach, but she is also telling her students that she's only in it to pay for her "Beamer." That is disgusting. It's no wonder that the healthcare field is suffering when the teaching institution in Savannah is relying on unqualified "professors" and emphasizing monetary gain over patient first practices. Finally when this was brought up before the administration of the Department they closed rank and dropped my wife's complaint, along with her grade. It infuriates me that Armstrong, and McGee in particular, is allowed to continue this bastardization of the noble pursuit of health professions.
My sister goes here and it is a nice school
Call admission, wait for 40-50 minutes each time on hold then they hang up. Worst admission team ever!
University is nice, campus is alright.
A reason why I hate going to aasu. I never go in there anymore
I have been in the "process" of applying to Armstrong now for nearly TWO months. I got all my transcripts in to the admissions office, turned in all of the extra worksheets for financial aid, and applied to the college to take SUMMER classes. I thought I was good to go. I was waiting for someone from the registrar's office to call me so I could register for classes. For 20 days I waited for someone to call. I decided 20 days was too long and I called them. Come to find out I needed another transcript that I had not put on my application because I hadn't attended the college in 12 years and knew none of the credits would transfer. They knew I needed this transcript and never called or emailed me to let me know about it. I called today because I had the transcript PDF file transferred directly to them two days ago and was calling to check the status as of now. They still haven't looked at it yet. I am no closer to being able to register for SUMMER classes than I was over a month ago when I turned what I thought was everything in. I am so disappointed in Armstrong for the way they treat new students. Shame on you.
The absolute worst admissions department! I'm a former student that transferred and received a degree from GA Southern. Trying to be admitted so I can take some classes to further my education has been a nightmare! I've tried multiple times on multiple occasions to contact them by phone but I can never get anyone on the phone. I've tried to email the admissions department and different staff members but no one replies. I've faxed my immunization records twice and they were never documented. Every time I have a question or need to check on something I have to drive there. The semester has already started but I can't register for classes because my application hasn't been reviewed yet. Saying the admissions department is INCOMPETENT is an understatement!
Stay away from this school. The teachers are, for the majority, absolute rubbish and helpless. The staff is completely useless and incompetent.
Hello, I really need for someone to help me I am considering going to Armstrong for fall 2015 I have a gpa of 3.2 but, my act score wasn't as good I made a composite of 15 because i didn't really study but i'm retaken it again in February do you think i still may have a chance to get into Armstrong? I really like Armstrong and I am from the area of Savannah Ga... PLEASE RESPOND.
A very disorganized school.
Great learning environment for disciplined students with a desire to learn and earn a good education... Professor/Student ratio is low, which allows students to interact on more of a one on one basis with the professors if needed. Another attractive asset AASU offers its students is the lower cost for tuition . AASU's tuition is more affordable than many of the neighbouring college and universities in the South East, and the quality of education one can achieve at AASU is priceless. I've attended classes at several different college's in GA, and I have nothing but high mark's to give when it comes to Armstrong. There are other colleges and universities in the area as well. Of those that I've attended, I have nothing bad to say; however, there's something about the time I spent at AASU and the degree I earned there that's special... I know I'm not alone, many other's have shared their thoughts and opinions with me over the years regarding AASU. It's always the same with other's who've talked about attending Armstrong... I would advise anyone who's considering going to college and thinking about attending AASU, to go for it! You'll be glad you did. Be prepared to learn and to work for an education you'll be required to earn. Btw, if you're considering anything in the medical field, AASU will prepare you with a quality education you'll be grateful for throughout your entire professional career! :-)
I inquired information about their online radiography bachelor's program, left messages, sent transcripts, and applied. I got one automatic pre-typed e-mail and that was it. I tried calling admissions and the registrar and it always went to voicemail. I never received a call back or personalized e-mail with additional information (that I requested). That was over 2 weeks ago and still nothing. In the mean time, I found another online program that takes less time to complete, better cost, is regionally accredited, and was contacted by phone and e-mail that very day. I was very disappointed by Armstrong.
Amazing
As a Georgia taxpayer, I find it APPALLING that this university dares to require visitors to campus to PAY a $2 fee for a parking permit. I understand this during the school academic year on days when classes are in session, but it is unreasonable and an insult on days when the university is NOT IN SESSION. A public university cannot ethically make money (or should I say the campus police department) can't legitimately charge a citizen for a permit on days when there are 1000s of empty parking spaces marked either "student" or "visitor". Case in point: federal/state holidays, Saturdays and Sundays. Regardless of your hubris as a "great public university," my taxes are used. For the campus police to charge a visitor to park when the campus is vacant and business is closed is pathetic. Not only must I pay $2, I then have to provide my car registration along with my personal ID and THEN have to explain why I am on campus as a visitor! Then again, this is Savannah. A place where you are nickel-and-dimed to death for any service, from cable TV to water service as a citizen.
Recently I had visited Armstrong to look at graduate school in the communication sciences and disorders department. I had scheduled an appointment to meet with Dr. Neils-Strunjas, but failed to realize that the appointment was on a school holiday. Dr. Neils-Strunjas was so kind to meet with me even though the school was closed, and this was very important considering my family and I had traveled all the way from New York. Dr. Neils-Strunjas was extremely helpful in answering the many questions I had, and she even showed me the off campus clinic. The program itself is very prestigious, and if you are considering a career in speech-language pathology I would suggest you consider researching the program. After meeting with Dr. Neils-Strunjas I left with a certainty that I was making the right decision in applying to Armstrong.
I have been attending ASU for three years. I am in love with the Savannah environment and the friendliness that makes up the campus. ASU is serious when it comes to academics and provides a quality education.
Financial aid has been a nightmare. If you are thinking of applying to AASU, you need to have every bit of paper work possible on hand.I turned in everything before classes started and here we are, 7/8 weeks into the semester and, I am still waiting on my refund to be deposited into my account so I can buy my books.I was selected for verification but, I was also selected at CCGA when I was considering them and, the process was nothing like this! This has been a huge issue with me.I feel like more employees need to be attained if it takes you over 8 weeks to push financial aid through with all the proper information.I might add, that this is the second week with all of information actually processed and me refund created that I have been waiting for them to disperse it. I am extremely upset with this whole process.
Grew up in this area.
The office for applications was absolutely no help and she got rude with me.
If I could give the Bursars office a 0, I would . I called them the first week of February and was told that my 1098 T form was mailed out on 31st of January.... Fast forward to March 6, I called the Bursars office and I was told that my 1098 was mailed out on 31st of January and it is now March and still nothing ... the lady I spoke to the second time around told me that it was never mailed out and that is the “general response” they have to give out and I could find my 1098 on Touchnet. I’ve been waiting over a month to file my taxes and these asshats could have told me from the beginning where I could find my paperwork . I’m glad I don’t go this school anymore .
Never let anyone convince you there is anything second rate about this small Georgia state University! The faculty in the English department was fantastic in 2011 when I graduated. The professors where enthusiastic about helping the students, and there was so much more to be learned from all the individual one on one attention I received. The class sizes were small and the professors available, unlike the famous name brand Institute of Technology where I got my BSEE. There is so much competition for professorships that they hire really good people. At Armstrong you actually get to learn from the professors; they grade their own assignments, and teach in small classes. I'm sorry to say there was dismal administrative services, which is the reason for 4 stars rather than 5.
Quality education, good people, great city. They even found me a job so I could continue to live in Savannah.
Probably the worst place I have ever worked. It's cut throat, money wasted daily, terrible leadership.
