I have been going to Saint Leo for almost 3 years, and I've had a pretty decent experience. I am a military student, and my online classes with Distance Learning were very understanding of that. However, when I took a class on campus, I had a teacher drop me the week before the end of class due to "lack of attendance" even though I informed him at the beginning of the semester of the days I would have duty. My assignments were all either ahead of schedule or on time for his class, and I immediately went from an A to an F, instead of him allowing the counselor to withdraw me from the class with my A. When I appealed, I was told that they saw no reason why my grade should be changed, since I could not provide copies of my work. Saint Leo uses online sites to submit homework, and once the class is over there is no way to access it. However, that was my only bad experience. I returned back to online classes, and I have received my Associate's. I am pursuing my Bachelor's. Although I am highly upset that I will have to retake and repay a class that I've already done well in, I won't completely judge this school based off one center. Saint Leo has accommodated me to get my degree, and they have several resources to assist you with research and tutoring for your classes. Also, the online advisors stay in touch with you and are very nice and welcoming. If you find that you can't go to school on campus, Saint Leo's Center for Online Learning may be the perfect school for you.

Not sure why I have a professor who feels it necessary to supersede a student's job and livelihood to demand attendance in his class when he himself has missed one class entirely and was 25 minutes late to another. I'm very disappointed in the instructor's unwillingness to accept my makeup work as well. Long and short of this complaint is that I was called away out of town on business with the Government in my civilian capacity as a DoD contractor. When I returned to class tonight he refused to take my exam that was due during my absence stating "I should have given my exam to another student to turn in for me." What about the "Saint Leo Core Value of Integrity" I will not have mine called into question by me handing off work that I did to someone else to turn in! Not to mention that this same instructor will not accept any work submitted via email on the Learning Studio or via the dropbox. I also thought that this being 2015 we can overcome technological challenges and not rely on hard copy assignments. Additionally, is Saint Leo not also trying to go "Green"? I will be looking elsewhere to finish my degree as this is terrible practice by a school that claims to be military friendly. -Very disappointed!

It is a marvelous educational opportunity for anyone attending Saint Leo. Class of '67

Hands down the most beautiful and well-maintained campus I have ever seen. The university is surrounded by palm trees, flowers and a beautiful lake. Saint Leo has about everything you can imagine. The setting is idyllic and the people are amazing. Love this place! I would highly recommend Saint Leo University for anyone who is looking for a great education! The professors are very kind and always helpful. The staff and the professors care about their students’ performance and improvements. The school is very diverse with about 500 international students! One of my favorite part would be all of the events and trips that SLU provides every year such as Disney trips, International Food Night festival, Talent Shows and so on. 5 stars to this University!

This school looks nice and cozy. It appears that there wouldn't be as many distractions as some schools, but you could still receive an education. The school seems very well kept! I would go here, and I am going to recommend to this a family member.

Saint Leo is more than just a University, it's a home. Saint Leo has truly become my home over the past 3 years and I am so thankful with my decision every day. The Residence Life staff is great and easily accessible at all times. Thanks Saint Leo!

The classroom format I liked, but sadly that is the only positive about this school. Staff are rude and unhelpful. The university makes you jump through hoops for the most trivial requests. For example, I am filling out AMCAS for medical school application. Because I took a few classes with Saint Leo, I need to enter that information into my application. I simply need an unofficial transcript in order to see the class names and grades. For all other schools I've attended, this has been easy to obtain. I can either log in and view online, or they promptly sent me a copy via e-mail. Saint Leo's primitive method of attaining this simple information has brought my progress to a screeching halt. I have to wait for it to come via snail mail, as this is the only method they use. Also, they do not print unofficial transcripts, the only way for me to view it is to have another official transcript (with fee of course) sent to my house. Every person I talked to about it was extremely rude. In addition, when I tried to drop a class I was having computer difficulties. I sent a request to their helpdesk (I was not in the country and unable to call) a week before the drop deadline. I did not get a response until the day after the deadline (of course). Any attempts to address the situation were met with the same incredibly rude, uncaring response I received with my transcript request. I can't believe an educational institution is run this way. The best decision I've made about my education was to stop attending this school once I realized what a sham it is. I hope to save you the trouble. Please keep searching for a quality school, this is not it.

I have completed one year going to Saint Leo and I have nothing but good things to say about this university. It started from my enrollment counselor all the way to my classmates. I work hard to accomplish the grades that I receive and learn in every single class that I have taken. Glad I found out about Saint Leo.

Received my Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts back in October 2017. I’m still continuing my education with the Bachelors in Business Management program presently. I’m active military using funds through Tuition Assistance and have had no issues with the school. The Navy has been slow to pay on their part sometimes, but that’s not the school’s fault. Ultimately, the Navy pays the school and no problems occur. The past couple of classes I’ve taken they’ve paid on time. I’ve attended classes locally on base and online. I’ve found both to have their advantages and disadvantages, but usually do online. I can complete school work online faster if the class isn’t rigorous. I can usually get ahead by a week online. So being self-paced is a huge advantage. If it’s a subject I need better understanding in, then I’ll attend them locally if my Navy schedule permits it. I’m on sea duty and can be deployed any time, so that dictates my method of course delivery. If I can’t attend in person for a hard course, then I hold off until I can so I don’t jeopardize my GPA. Academic advisors on multiple bases have helped me out substantially though my professional development. I’ve progressed a lot at work thanks to Saint Leo. I hope they can continue to help me progress in my life endeavors. My time spent with Saint Leo hasn’t been a waste and hope they can continue to help others develop.

they will rob you, they don’t care about you getting a higher education. Financial aid doesn’t care about you as a student. Don’t waste your money, don’t send your kids here.

My brother attended Saint Leo University and graduated in 2007. He had a great experience and loved everything! I also graduated from Saint Leo University with my M.B.A. in 2013 and was able to further myself in my career and develop personally more than I ever thought. I also work at Saint Leo University in the office of admission and love the student-centered atmosphere. We truly all do care about each individual student and their success. Everyone is super helpful and dedicated to the core values of Saint Leo. Great place!

The online MBA program has been most challenging and convenient. It is not for the faint of heart as there are many assignments to keep you learning. The professors are respectful and timely, and generally go above and beyond to help you succeed. Fellow students are intelligent and professional, and can identify with life's demands as many are juggling family, work, and academic responsibilities. Admissions and academic advising has been a wonderful and supportive experience; you're definitely NOT a number at this University.

I had a great experience with Saint Leo. I made ever lasting friends who are still like family to me. I got a great education with great teachers. I studied and worked with student of all ages. I have even applied and been looking at taking my Master's program with Saint Leo. Great School, Great location, Strongly recommend to anyone looking to apply to a great school!

Allie Cooper

Definitely made the decision not to go to Saint Leo after the encounters I had with the staff here.

Matthew Brown

I just want everyone to know before they go, if you want an easy transition and for everything to go smoothly when dealing with a school don't go here. I had a great first impression of them and then after all was said and done they gave me nothing but trouble and costs me about twice as much as it should have been. I didn't get my student loans because the admissions counselor and my VA Benefits were less than half of what I should have gotten because the schools documentation was off. I had teachers that didn't give me extensions on my work due to my drills for 3-4 days of Active Duty. This school is only military friendly because they take your GI Bill money. Don't make the same mistake I made. Find a better school and don't rush it.

Campus is beautiful, staff is mostly very friendly, and I like the small class size. In general, a Great School.

This school is EXCELLENT! I have been going here for 6 terms now at the Center for Online Learning. It is a NON-PROFIT school, so you are never pestered with phone calls or gimmicks to get you to enroll. The course work is challenging so if you want an easy ride through college, then do not enroll at Saint Leo. I value the work that is expected of me from this school. I have learned so much since I have been a student here. The course work is developed in a way that enhances your knowledge of the subject matter as you teach it to yourself. The price is average for a private university, but I am a military wife, so I only pay $250 per credit hour. Its a great deal and I truly feel I am gaining a quality education. You will be happy with your decision to go here. The staff are so helpful and friendly. It is the best decision I have ever made. My husband and a few of my other friends go here too and they are all satisfied with their experience too!

I attended Saint Leo University mainly at NAS Atlanta, Fort Gillem and Fort McPherson before the base closure. Saint Leo Atlanta campus had many top notch professor that also taught at other universities like, Clark University, Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State University. We received a diversity of knowledge with years of teaching experience to learn from. I would strongly recommend Saint Leo University, it's a good school.

Unfortunately I am a current student at Saint Leo and had a not so positive experience with the staff in the financial department called "Train Stop". I made the mistake of paying my tuition from a previous term in full. I spoke with a member of the staff to inform them and that an additional check in the amount of $100.00 was mailed to Saint Leo by mistake. The representative then advised me to call my bank and cancel the check, which I did. Approximately 1.5 months later I receive a bill in the amount of $30.00 for a the intentionally canceled check. Mind you my balance was "Zero" Naturally I called and inquired about the fee and was told by "Train Stop" employee Meagan that I would still have to pay the penalty because all checks received had to be applied to an account. Meagan also advised that no one in the office remembered talking to me. I'm guessing had someone recalled the conversation and the recommendation to cancel the check I still would have had to pay the $30.00. I doubt anyone would admit they provided a customer misinformation but sure Meagan if that's what you'd like to believe. Saint Leo Lesson Of the Day: 1. If a Saint Leo employee doesn't remember a conversation then it didn't happen. 2. Management has really long lunch breaks. Either that or the manager is standing there listening to the conversation on speaker phone telling Meagan to say she's out of the office so she can avoid providing customer service. (Not sure which one) 3. I will probably be charged for the above lessons learned because apparently the financial department charges for everything even if it doesn't make sense. P.S In general I have had a decent experience with Saint Leo University and enjoyed pursuing my education under the tutelage of Saint Leo's scholarly professors. Kristin

I had a great experience as an undergrad when I graduated in 2006. I now work for the University and am in the process of completing my MBA, expected graduation December 2015. My professors online and in the classroom have been fantastic, and I'm using the MBA to advance my career and education. The convenience and format allow me to balance a full time graduate program with a full time career.

If you want to go to a school that only cares about how much money they can get out of you this is the one. Nobody cares about your personal situations so do not bring that to their attention because they will just send you through a bunch of unhelpful circus loops. I have reached out to every Dean of every department about a 400 dollar financial bill that was caused by their lack of communication to their students. So now I have a bill that I can not pay and they will not dismiss 400 dollars like it will make or break the schools pockets because I withdrew from a class on a Monday and not that Friday. They have a tendency to have orientation a month after you start school so nobody knows the rules and regulations till after you have broke one of them sounds like Fraud to me. But the excuse I keep hearing them say is we have to have permission from the higher UPS to dismiss the charges so WTH is a Dean for then. Then I have to face being homeless during this whole process and they can not help in that department either so what is the point of the social work program if your not going to work on my social needs. Starting to lose faith in the whole school all together. Don't waste your money on schooling if your not financially stable.

I just completed my first semester at St. Leo University. I am not trying to sound like a commercial, but I really like the changes that this school has made in my life. The faculty is amazing, they actually care about me, my success and my career. I am not a traditional student. I am a E-5 in the United States Navy. I am currently pursuing a B.A. in Criminal Justice degree. The web based classes are great. I suggest this school to everyone I speak to. The only downfall I find for civilians is the cost of attendance, the cost reflects the private school education.

Ronald Babski

Don't walk...run away. What a complete third rate institution. The student advisors are nearly worthless. The orientation and on-boarding process is terrible. My first professor assigned 7 books and barely presented an outline...and the lectures were unstructured and terrible, dry...he scribbled a few key points with a sharpie on an overhead projector that I have seen back in the 1980s that only worked half the time...what a joke. At least we got to hear about how the "good" professors were leaving because Saint Leo has not even given a cost of living adjustment in 3 years. It is no wonder...they are probably losing enrollment because they are so poorly administrated. I have seen excellent leadership before and it is not at Saint Leo. Even the GI Bill support was terrible. As I said...don't walk...run away.

Lauren

I love this school so much I commute two and a half hours 3 days a week to be on campus. I wish people would not rate the university based on their poor online courses service or one unresponsive professor as it does not define the university as a whole.Yes it is expensive, yes dorming and meal plans are over priced. In that case, if you are local, simply commute. Saint Leo offers numerous scholarships and financial aid programs that allow you to afford your education. Saint Leo Professors are by far some of the greatest individuals I've met in my short 20 years. They care about what they do, they care about the success of their students and they are all very unique individuals, have various backgrounds and ethical codes with extensive experience. If you are a young individual looking for a university that is out in the middle of no where that does not emphasize partying but ensures a close knit community with it's small campus and class sizes, and are very serious about your educational achievements I highly encourage you to apply for Saint Leo. I genuinely believe the university is one of a kind. And Please always remember when reading reviews of universities that your education is what you make of it. Opportunity arises when we find and bring out your individual potential. So make sure your success is your #1 priority whether you must work, take care of a family or fend for yourself at a young age. In the long run you will benefit your future or family and children so you have the financial means to support them in their endeavors. Thank you for reading and good luck to you -Lauren

If I could rate them zero stars I would. If you are using a GI Bill, pick a different school! There is absolutely no communication between this school and the V.A. We have been waiting for 7 months for a refund. The V.A. has waited so long for their money that they have now garnished wages. We were told 3 months ago by St. Leo that a check was mailed only to find out that a check was printed, signed, and sitting on someone's desk for months! Then we were told last week that a check was "mailed" on 2/20. It is now 3/3 and we still have not received our money. St. Leo will be losing a student over a piece of paper that nobody can figure out how to sign and drop in the mail.

This is a very great place to be. This school not only will show you a path to your future, but it will also give you access to lifelong friends, great professors, amazing classes and clubs on campus, and also a great student body that will help you strive for greatness. Pros: The academic program here is great. It just needs a few improvements. If you're a student who cares less about partying, then this school is right for you. Cons: The staff on campus is rude and unprofessional. - Contrary to what your admission's counselor told you, once you attend SLU, you'll get little to no support. If you're not in a certain organization/club or even of a certain status around campus, you aren't treated as fairly. - Most professors are biased, and your grades might be affected because of it. - The school is in the middle of nowhere. - The food in the cafeteria sucks (there's a lot of complaints regarding food poisoning). Don't even think of going to the cafeteria on weekends because they literally serve left-over food given from the start of the week or from the week prior. - The school is very money hungry and you'll get charged for anything. - Your tuition basically pays for unnecessary things around campus such as fake trees/ plants and other irrelevant things since the school cares more about "school spirit" rather than what the school should actually be about. Warning!! If you're planning on attending Saint Leo University, please note that they put on a facade just to get your money. Once you attend here it's a different story than what was told when you applied.

Called talk to a couple helpful people getting to where I needed to be but came across one gentleman who kindly informed me I was to old since I was not a current high school graduate that I needed to go to a different campus on for adults who were older and that they didn't offer the program Inwant to us older adults.... only to freshly graduated high school students.... can honestly say as a military vet and a military widow disappointed with this school and the segregation they do with ages

This year was my first year at Saint Leo, and it was the best thing ever! I came to Saint Leo, from The Bahamas, and I was afraid of the adjustment and the major cultural differences. However, upon arrival to Saint Leo, everyone was so welcoming, the campus was beautiful and it just felt like home from Day 1! You're not just another number at the school, you're professors and advisors really do know you by name, and they care about you and your progress. There's always something going on on Campus so you're really never bored, and everyone is so friendly, so you'll always have a friend around. I'm super excited for my sophomore year! Saint Leo has been one of the best choices I've made!

Bad communication with instructor. Does Not conform to "core values". NOT military friendly. Don't let the "not-for-profit" tag fool you. This school is ALL about profit!

I graduated from Saint Leo in 2009 and graduated with a History and International Studies degree. I lived in apartment 4 and they were fairly new so at the time, getting them was great. It is now 2017 and I still talk to my room mates to this day. They are my absolute best friends. The education I received was top notch professors were easy to sit down with and chat with, they were all very open and personable. Not only that, because of the connections the professors had with jobs and internship opportunities, it was easy to network with others ultimately achieving your dream job. They really do help and care about helping you towards getting what you need to eventually get where you want to go. Class sizes were small (some ranged from 2-6 in my degree courses). The most people that ever were in a class was probably 25 for classes like Ernie Williams Philosophy class. The technology in classrooms is the best I've used considering my experiences at other universities. Also, can I say how important it is to have access to printing and tutoring resources so easily? The campus is absolutely resort like and looking back I probably took it for advantage, but now with the new construction that have been done...it really is picturesque. I don't regret coming here at all and recommend it to everyone interested in obtaining their degree in person and online.

I just completed my first semester at St Leo and had a terrible experience.I do not recommend this university in any way. I was able to receive an overall B despite not having a paper (100pts) graded due to technical issue St Leo had with their website. My professor did not grade papers in a timely manner, in fact he was grading week 3 as the class was wrapping up in week 8. So it begs the question how are you able to incorporate his instruction if it's so late all the work has been completed? This also caused the problem that I was unable to determine that the paper was not graded because all grades showed as 0 until the last week. Then my professor did not respond to e-mails for over a month. I called him this morning and found out that in fact by the time I knew the paper was received it was already too late for the paper to have been graded. I spoke to the head of the MBA program who became argumentative and rude. Thoroughly un-agreeable process and ultimately a waste of time and energy.

Beautiful grounds and buildings. People very friendly and welcoming. Very relaxing place to visit and walk.

Beautiful Catholic University... secluded campus... very serene when we visited... stopped into the 24 hr chapel in the middle of the campus and detached from our road-trip...

My husband was an art professor at St Leo, we lived in San Antonio for quite a few years. A very nice place for a young family. My bi-cultural daughter started Kindergarten at Dade City. I myself graduated from University of South Florida, in Tampa, all of it a good experience. I still miss the quiet life in San Antonio, rooted in St Leo living. I am happy to see how it is growing so much, still faithful to its good roots.

Anna LaRue

I would highly recommend Saint Leo University to anyone looking for a school that cares about its students and doesn't see them as just another number. You can also take classes online and on campus, which helps when you have a busy schedule outside of classes. Saint Leo really gives you all the tools that you need to succeed. The faculty and staff cheer you on from your first day to graduation day. I have nothing but positive things to say about this university.

claudia vasquez

Open campus with a lake outback, the religious store is worth a visit, church bells and serenity.

Paul Bolin, M.D.

Attended this university for my Master's in Theology online after doing an M.D. (medicine) at another school. The professors at Saint Leo provide a quality Catholic-based education, which is difficult to do online. The online format is very user-friendly. My only complaint is that the courses are virtually all in a discussion board format, requiring significant interaction with students. That would normally be fine, but a lot of the students I have absolutely no idea how they got into grad school, as I've graded high school papers that were better (do they even require prospective students take the GRE?). That can make the discussion portion of the courses somewhat tedious. On the flip side, the grading curve is pretty easy. Registration was always easy. Never had any problems with the financial aid process, and the courses are very affordable. Course selection overall is good, however online the course selection is limited each semester which makes it difficult to complete the classes in preferable order (for instance, circumstances made it necessary to complete the Christology course before the New Testament course, even though New Testament should be a prerequisite for Christology). Overall, however, it's a good program especially for those who are looking for a flexible online experience.
