I have met several nice students, but the diversity of people on campus has very little to do with the diversity of the real world.

UC Davis spent at least $175000 on online reputation management to try and cover up campus police pepper spraying non-violent students. This school spent over 5 million on "strategic communication" in 2016. That's equivalent to 354 full scholarships. Question this school's goals.

The campus is HUGE and has probably gotten bigger since i left! Beautiful campus! Even if you don't go to school there, it is so nice and relaxing (when classes aren't in session) that you can treat it like a park sorta. Great place to just ride a bike (again when classes aren't in session, coz bike traffic can get crazy!!!)

Currently I am a rising Junior at UC Davis. I am in love with the campus, the people and the community. Having experienced living in an urban city college this summer, my love for UCD has only grown. I am so thankful to be able to learn in a diverse setting with a student community that genuinely is keen on helping one another. The campus is beautiful - take a look at the arboretum. Make the most of your four years at the school and become involved. There's lots to do if you take the initiative.

This is indeed an atrocious university given their wealth, and it axiomatically receives zero stars. If you want to be constantly abused by the administrators, you may decide to work here. The starting salary for a lecturer is less than 60000, while the housing prices for a dilapidated house is over 2000 monthly in Davis, CA. Expect to pay at least 1000 for various deductions--tax, etc.--monthly. Also, some of the worst administrators include the deans and their associates, as they mercilessly and ignorantly implement "policies" and "practices" that never financially benefit the lecturers. Simply put, UC Davis comprises a terrible administration; please avoid it. While it boasts about its accomplishments, it is merely an antediluvian dinosaur with its bones left. AND REPORTING MY POST WILL NOT CHANGE ANYTHING!

Transferred here for the last 2 years of my bachelor's degree from 2011-2013. Best educational decision I have ever made! I was around for the pepper spray incident and echo others who have said DO NOT let this incident stop you from considering UC Davis. People who had a problem with that will always have something to complain about. UCD is a great school with a great vibe and a great reputation in a great college town. Close to the Capitol, which can provide some amazing opportunities, as it has for me. Being a UCD alumnus is something I will always be proud of!

This school is not a "well-explained" school, I will say that. If you are the one who isn't good at socializing, it might not be a fit for you. Also, such a big school will not chase you down or help you at any time, you should find them by yourselves or else you will do poorly at first when you start your freshman year in UC Davis.

I am very pleased with the education I received here. Back in 2004, I was accepted to Berkeley, and UCLA but chose Davis over these schools because they offered better financial aid, had a ton of majors to choose from, and had top notch opportunities for research and internships (its right next to the state capitol so its the UC school to choose if you want to get into politics). Ultimately, I owe UC Davis for inspiring my career in research, my acceptance to Ivy league graduate schools, and being able to graduate college debt free. What a great deal!

I received my Bachelor's degree at UC Davis and could not be any happier with the experience. Truly a great university, and absolutely worthy of being ranked in the Top 8 Best Public Universities in the United States. SHAME on any of the reviewers leaving negative reviews based on the protesting incident that occurred on campus back in 2011. That has NOTHING to do with the quality of this amazing university, and that you would rate the university based on a single, isolated, incident is short-sighted, ignorant, and damaging to all UC Davis students, faculty, and alumni. I would encourage any student considering to attend UC Davis to come tour the campus yourself and see what a great University it really is.

For overall tuition starting between $4200 and $8000, its an automatic given rating for at least 2.50 out of 5.00 stars. 1) My Dad love UCDavis very much (100% rating) 2) Tuition Price was well worth spending on (100% rating) 3) Campus Safety is awesome (100% rating) 4) Dining experience is very good (100% rating) 5) The staff members at the Chemical Engineering Department and Physics Department are poor businessmen; don't recommend pursuing a CE degree.(ZERO rating) 6) The staff members at the Chemistry Department are very good businessmen. (100% rating) 7) Freshmen Dorm Life was terrible (ZERO rating). 8) Diversity experience was poor, no interracial friendships among whites, Asians, Indians, and some Mexicans. (ZERO rating). 9) made no friends from UCDAvis (ZERO rating). 10) UCDavis community doesn't respect rich people except 1 Chinese female (5% rating)-11) UCDavis don't like fat people. (ZERO rating) REMEMBER: you can always drop out of UCDavis, I did it once. overall rating: 2.50 out of 5.00 stars.

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience with UC Davis Veterinary Teaching Hospital. They did not work well with my local veterinarian, nor did they respond in a timely manner when timing was critical.

If you're coming from So Cal just be warned that people and the lifestyle of nor cal is very slow paced and boring. Also given the fact that there's nothing to do in Davis, you may implode. The education is phenomenal and difficult. The food is pretty good. Just make sure it's what you really want in a college experience.

It's hard to survive in UC Davis. What I mean is about academics. If you only listen to lecture and do your homework, you still won't do well on test or exam since professors went so fast (damn quarter system) that it too hard to catch up unless you already know the concept before. You may find tutor to help you, but you don't have much time. The only thing you can do is ask help from friends.

I learned that you have to step outside your comfort zone in order to succeed and really enjoy your college experience, and I think there were plenty of opportunities to do so in Davis. Visited the college and it seemed hopeful. When I chatted with the students and faculty there, I was grosstly mistaken. I knew about the protesting incident and I wanted to know what, if anything, has changed to promote a more healthy atmosphere for students. Instead I found myself disappointed by the faculty, feeling sorry for the students who were denied the right to protest, and an officer pull next to me asked me did I belong on that campus. I felt so welcome at UC Davis (sarcasm)

If you have the money and you love your pet this is the best place to bring your dog or cat a horse or any animal. No need to look for any specialist for your pet they have them there. Be warned this is not a cheap place. You pay for what you get and you do get good service here. I'm one of the lucky ones who live only 20 miles away. Some people drive as far as 200 miles away or farther than that.

27 years ago I was a 6' tall kid that didn't row. (Not sure what my height or rowing has to do with anything but people seem to post that). Great campus that has continued to grow and modernize. Good support from Alum and community. Too much emphasis on research and development instead of teaching. I would have liked to see the focus for the professors shift away from research and towards teaching. The TA's should be just that, assistants. I have to say though that I have a great life with a wonderful family. UC Davis is a.big part of the reason for my life today. Wonderful friends were made there and of course a love for wine began at the home of the Aggies. Over the years since I have worked for, owned, and run several businesses providing the income for many families which has also been a product of UC Davis. I'm very proud to have attended school at Davis, proud to be the husband of a Cal Poly SLO grad, and proud parent of two great kids one of which starts at Boise State in August, and the other who has a 4.3 loves soccer and hopes to attend Cal Poly or Davis in the footsteps of his parents!

Perhaps I was attending the nearby special education facility while thinking I was at the UC? Certainly felt like that at more than a few points in my undergrad studies there. Something about the whole atmosphere was off (even if the swastika graffiti and "burn the witch" adult population are taken out of the equation), and I felt it from day one. I chose to ignore it in favor of what I thought was better judgement -- this was easily one of the ten worst mistakes of my life.

I imagine the school is pretty good despite the large number cows we saw around campus. This is your typical college town. Everything is designed for students and life in Davis seems to revolve around UC Davis and bicycles. I would avoid Greek life if you enjoy having a high GPA.
