I want to attend this school...? Please help me yes or no.

Alexa Wright

The courses are very informative, but the admin is very disorganized. They do not take time to design courses of study so that all students needs are met. I understand that the college is a business and they need to make money, but some customer service still needs to be utilized in order for students to feel welcome. I would not recommend the alternative masters program in education to anyone. I would suggest registering at Troy instead they're program is more flexible for full time working adults.

They just want to get money. I am a forienger student here with a full-paid scholarship. Despite that, each term the university oblige me to pay some amount of money claiming that my sponsor didn't pay that. My sponsor is saying that I am 100% percent covered and all of the claimed amount for each term is paid in full.

School is above average as far as the learning environment. However, the cost to be here is ridiculous. Not to mention the financial aid office is no help. Their "there's nothing I can do about your high ass tuition cost" attitude is almost insulting to say the least. I qualified for a transfer scholarship but because my transfer was in the spring and not the fall I didn't get it (although the scholarship requirements said nothing about which semesters did and did not qualify). If you are well off in money, go for it. If you have a guaranteed FULL ride scholarship, go for it. If you're like me, working full time to afford to be here full time and it still isn't enough, best of luck with your decision.

Please, please do not attend this school! First of all, There is little to no available parking. The staff is rude, unprofessional, and they constantly act as if it is a burden to do their jobs!! The faculty for the most part are uncaring and walk around with a severe superiority complex, however there are some fantastic teachers I for one am sorry they have to work with these people. Introductory math is an absolute joke, if math is not a strong area of yours don't attend AUM, because you may have to take three math courses, two of which mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, but you still have to pay for them like a traditional 3 credit class. AUM provides tutoring facilities but if you have to have a certain learning style for their methods to effectively help you study. The last math class I took our professor was unfocused and at times seemed like she herself didn't understand the material, she belittles students and made the class so anxious that half of the class dropped the course. Admin. appears to look out for their own. The food is questionable ,eat at your own risk

My experience at AUM was wonderful. The atmosphere was great and the professors were phenomenal and very approachable. I will be returning for another degree and also my sister.

In a word: life-changing. I went to AUM from 2005 through 2011. I received a BA in English and a BSBA in Information Systems. I am currently working as a software engineer and owe a lot of credit to AUM. English & Philosophy: When I think about my experiences with the professors of English & Philosophy, the word mentorship comes to mind. There are talented and caring professors in English & Philosophy who go above and beyond to engage students and help them succeed. I keep in touch with many of them even today. There are numerous ways I was able to get involved as well. When I was there, I had opportunities to get published in literary magazines and even to be an editor of a literary magazine. I regularly went to poetry slams and short story readings, to plays at Theatre AUM, to the Promenade concerts, all free of charge (student life, yo). I traveled to China to study during the Beijing Olympics. I only had to pay a nominal fee to go, and my group got to attend the Olympics, as well as take numerous tours of northeastern China. More recently, I've heard that students have been going to Oxford and Cambridge to retrace the steps of C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien, and I'm super jealous. I could go on; however, let me say this: I didn't pursue a career in English, per se, but I use those skills in the professional world on a continual basis. More than that, the experiences changed me as a person; I'll always remember those years fondly. Business (Information Systems): So, I'm a software engineer, now. I moved up really quickly in the professional world, and my IS degree opened a lot of doors in that regard. During my stint in the School of Business, I was able to work with the Center for Advanced Technologies on a variety of projects involving real world problems like HIPAA compliance and enterprise application development. I also worked with a team of students to build a web application for a local nonprofit organization. Cyber war games and hackathons were a regular occurrence. There was always something to do in and out of class. Five stars—I highly recommend Auburn University at Montgomery. It is a gem of the South and a cultural/intellectual hub in Alabama. I would still be regularly involved there today if I hadn't moved away for job opportunities.

Coming from a parent....This place will sell you all types of lies during orientation then boom the elevators doesn't work, (elevators are always having issues) they're nasty, the hot water has not worked in 2 days now and they are telling the students they have no idea when the hot water will be back working. If it is not one thing it is another at this school. All they care about is getting your money and it's over priced. What are they doing with all of that money but can't upkeep the place? We bought a tv for our child and the cable has not worked since our child started. Their so called maintenance has been there on several occasions to check it out and all they can say is it doesn't work because we have a smart tv. You call the school to speak with housing and they issue excuses as well. I am very disappointed in this school. If the hot water issue doesn't get resolved soon I will be contacting the health department or somebody because it does not make sense to me those kids has to go without hot water. What about a bath??? Its been cold the past couple of days! Take my advice and run, choose another college because if I had known what I know now, my child would not be attending this school. Definitely will not be enrolling my child again. I'm seriously thinking about talking to the local news people because the things that goes on at AUM and in those dorms are ridiculous.

I can not stand this school. Orientation was a lie they look good on the outside but the inside is a joke. The food options are generic and unhealthy, pizza burger fries and chicken strips all day everyday. DO NOT depend on your meal plan to last the entire semester meals cost almost 10$ and a drink 3$. They do not clean the rooms before you move in, housing will charge you even if there are items left that are not yours which then locks your student account so you can not add/drop classes until its paid, Financial AId student accounts could care less what issue your having and will just redirect you to someone else they are not helpful and rude in person and over the phone, I have never felt so on my own. Professors are the same they do not care what medical family issue you have going on, I sent a professor medical results prescription etc and was still failed. My advisor was not helpful and short just in and out, Im behind for graduation because it was not explained full semesters max hours had to be taken in order to graduate on time and was also told I can not be advised until "official" advising time..not helpful. Ive missed important mail because AUM spelled my name wrong for months and led me in circles with who was responisble or could atleast fix it. Ive had few good professors and the wellness center has probably been the best thing out of everything. AUM is not worth the trouble or the money and that is all they want.

For this to be a small school, they are HIGH PRICED for no reason. They take money unnecessarily, they will charge you literally for EVERYTHING and you wouldn't even know it and The food is HORRIBLE .

As an international student, AUM is the BEST school for any international students and other students as well. I feel at home at AUM and the teachers there are the best. Wonderful university, small but homely and lovely.

Some of the nasty reviews left for AUM was astounding. This is only my third semester here, but when I tell you I have had NO problems. I mean it. I live off campus, and only go there two days a week, but while I'm there it is such a peaceful, and relaxing environment. The PROS: -The library is an awesome place to study, its quiet, and relaxing. -The food has good variety, but if you live on campus and get tired of it, there is literally a shopping/food center half a mile down the road. -The standards academically are a wonderful representation of the school itself. What I mean by that is, they hold you accountable. You don't do the work, you don't get the grade. But it's college, what do you expect? -The teachers know you by name. But the school is big enough so you don't know everyone. -The financial aide, health, ect. offices, are extremely helpful and will make sure you get all the help you need. The CONS: -Parking sucks. If you get there early enough, and by that I mean 7:40a.m. you have a decent chance of getting an okay spot, but after that, you probably need to get use to parking close to the wellness center. -The UNIV 1000 class all freshman have to take is so stupid. Let me say that again for the people in the back. It is so stupid. I did not learn anything. They give you all sorts of homework, assignments, and projects you have to do which ended up being more work than any of my other core classes. If you can get out of taking this course, do it. You won't be missing anything. -This is more of a complaint for all colleges, but I thought I would state it anyway. Books. The books each teacher requires for the classes are all "custom" from AUM. Which means you can't get it anywhere else besides there, and you have to pay for a new one (which on average is $120/textbook). My first semester it was $450 total for all my books, which is ridiculous. Final Thoughts: AUM is a fine school, academically, socially, and personally. I feel this school has not let me down yet*. If you're looking for a party school, this is not the school for you. If you're looking to receive an education that will strengthen your abilities, personality, and future career outlooks, this is the school for you.

I owe everything to AUM. I began attending in 2004 and got my bachelor's degree in English in 2009. I returned to AUM for grad school in 2012 and finished my master's degree in 2014. I have been English Composition faculty at AUM since 2013. For the school's small size, you'd be surprised at the majors and amenities available from the Wellness Center to Theater AUM. The faculty are very friendly, knowledgeable people, and since the school is small, it's a rather tight-knit community. I'm forever grateful to AUM, in particular the English Department, for my education and my career. Fantastic school that not enough people know about outside of the Montgomery area.
