Travel Dream West

A great display of wildlife, a platform overlooking the elk wildlife refuge and very friendly information

alisha wilton

Really well designed visitor center, built as part of an elk refuge, with beautiful taxidermy displays. Staff here are wonderfully helpful, and gave great advice on how to spend my limited time in the Jackson/Tetons/Yellowstone area. The gift shop here is also quite sizable, and it was the only gift shop I was able to find my National Parks travel stamp in. Jackson Hole is a great location to visit during the winter for snow sport enthusiasts, and it is around this time of year that the Elk return to the refuge. The visitor center offers a great viewing platform to see over 1000 of them when they return to weather the cold. They also have a close relationship with the Teton Raptor Center, I visited on a Saturday, where between 3pm and 5pm three beautiful owls where visiting, along with their friendly handlers, to teach people about these birds. I believe this is regular, but phone ahead if its something you want to see, just to be sure.

Mike Nelson

Being a local, I don't often go here, but for a visitor this is a place you should start at. If you're new to the area, it's a good way to get your bearings, learn about activities, etc. There are some nice wildlife displays and learning opportunities. Staffed by both paid and volunteers, which all are passionate about what they are doing.

Kimberly Rogers

Artifacts are cool here, but did not have a good experience with staff. After landing we stopped by this visitor center, and tried to find some things to do on our day off in Jackson. People were not friendly and had negative attitudes.... Very unfortunate first experience with people of Wyoming. But after we visited a few restaurants and met some lovely warm locals.

Jason Lin

Great display of Elks & Bear inside and outside. This Visitor Center is one of the best in terms of the display/interior decor. Loved the display of heads, giant chandelier and herd of Elks. Great national Park to visit. Awesome camp grounds. Must vacation place.

Xin Chen

This visit center is well worth your time for a short stop, either before your visit to Jackson Hole or after. We found the display in the center on Elks very educational. Don’t miss the deck upstairs, which overlooks the National Elk Preserve nearby. We stopped by here once this summer, and the other time 10 years ago, and enjoyed it.

Joy Brown

Lots of beautiful land and lots of tourists. A "bucket list" item for sure.

Victor Villafranco

It's a beautiful town

Rebecca Zhao

Had a very cool display of animals and information, also many antler chandeliers! Had a nice souvenir shop and information desk where you can ask for anything about Teton national park and get maps and passes

Mamta Mehta

Though the material is vast for people to study it at their own pace and carry it with them, the staff was not all that well trained to guide visitors on both national parks: Teton and Yellowstone. They weren't really sure of the opening of trails, hot springs, etc beyond south Yellowstone gates. I was advised to reach old faithful and find from locals there what the river currents would be like to take a dip in the hot springs. Strange!! The display is fabulous, though

Mari NicAshEz

Very cool! Gift shop inside, also lots of information about traveling through. Knowledgeable and friendly people to help guide you on your adventures.

D.P. Nuckels

I love the place. Nice staff.

Steve Johnson

Cool area and town in general. Very helpful staff to point you in the direction of whatever you're looking for in the area.

Zachery Beach

The entire area is beautiful.

Darren Albers

One of the most beautiful and unique natural wonders of North America. A bucket list item for anyone with an interest in the outdoors. The traffic can be bad during peak season but once you get beyond the tourist areas at Old Faithful or Canyon it gets better. Lamar valley is a perfect place to pull off and enjoy a hike and wildlife viewing.

Dorothy Gargis

My favorite town. We loved the sidewalks because they were wooden. The whole town was so neat. I loved the jewelry stores.

james cho

IT'S SMALL TOWN BUT VERY ACTIVE AND FRIENDLY HAS LOTS THINGS TO DO

Joshua Clapp

Awesome connection to nature.

Jeffrey Ford

Tourist trap. Art shops galore massive gouging price wise. Great Skiing but no excuse for the prices in the off season.

Harold Phillips

ABSOLUTELY Love this area !! In the summer, make sure you take the ski lift during the off season for the BEST view of the Tetons !! Absolute BEST $20 I spent on the entire vacation !! The downtown area with the Elk shed arches is fantastic !! Plan to spend a little extra time just going through the shops and seeing the sights like the Million Dollar Saloon and the Elk Refuge !!

Craig Crompton

Helpful staff and information about the area.

Eduard C Hanganu

Awsome places to visit if you like the nature. The town is small, but beautiful. We took some incredible pictures of the Teton spurs covered in snow.

Adrian Donlan

Fabulous and really interesting. Also it is the cheapest place in the town to buy merchandise, except for some discount stores that I haven't been to.

Audrey Kludtke

Very helpful with questions we asked related locations and etc. you could wait extra time or give yourself extra time looking for things to do & asking for tips with people.

Really beautiful, if busy, place. Unfortunately we were time limited and could not stay.

Great place to get info on Yellowstone and the tetons. The only park pass available was the annual passes which gets you into any parks

K L N Reddy

A very pleasant climate will make you feel that you are a child in nature's cradle. Away from towns and cities you can breath a fresh lease of life in the far away lush green mountains, pure and transparent lakes, the moving rivers and the awesome wildlife.

Tracey Kuzyk

My husband and I have never had so many OMG moments in one week. Wyoming is truly blessed with the most incredible scenery. Jackson was a great home base...lots of dining, shopping and recreational options. Plan to spend at least a full day exploring Yellowstone's many treasures. Do yourself a favor and add this state to your bucket list!

ron wiley

Get out and walk around town it's great

B Fred

We had a lovely visit. The outdoor deck gives a great view of the National Elk Refuge which in the summer is green and lush. The mounted animal display inside was well done and has wheel chair accessibility. There was a short film showing concerning the animals in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. The items for sale were reasonably priced from low to medium price. Lots of information available.

Tim Chan

Very friendly and helpful staff. Kids can earn a free jr. ranger patch by filling out a guide book. Plenty of parking but no wifi.

Jenny Cruise

Our visit to JH started off terribly. The person who took us from the airport to our hotel was super negative and told us (in a lecture(y) way) that we’d picked a terrible time to visit, the town was shut down, there was nothing to see, etc. The next day, we walked to the visitor’s center and spoke with Kacy. She was AMAZING. We told her about our initial experience with airport shuttle lady and she really turned things around. She made numerous suggestions of fun things to do with detailed instructions on how to get there. Kacy represents JH very well and we could see her passion for the town. Thanks, Kacy!!!!

Ahmedullah Aziz

Good place to take a break. Nice views.

Sravan Neerati

The personnel responded positively and explained the navigation points with markings on a map.

Patricia Greenfield Brown

We stayed at the Wort Hotel. Great rooms, friendly front desk staff. Love all the Western art in the lobby and throughout this hotel. Enjoyed reading about its history. Miss the crowds by visiting in late April or early November. We also saw what appeared to be 100's of elk most likely migrating back toward Yellowstone from the Elk Reserve, an amazing sight!!! It was near sunset.

Eileen Forlano

A couple of great breakfasts, the wait moved pretty fast and the portions are large

Deborah Patrick

Great visitor center with description of the area and wildlife. Enjoyed the view, amenities, information and good customer service.

Stephanie Martinez

Always full of helpful advice/information. And a great place to buy books about the west or Jackson. My favorites are the female centered reads.

Been all over the country best one yet

Drew K

The team working here are extremely friendly and outgoing. They gave us maps of both parks and even used 2 highlighters to highlight area with good views and the other color to highlight area of wildlife.

Sandi Wicklund

Just drove through but there are good restaurants and shopping a short drive from the Teton Mountains and Yellowstone National Park. Although we did not see moose this time, they frequent the area and in the winter the elk refuge hosts thousands of elk.

Christopher Barbosa

A must see fun place!

Scott Hendrix

Really great place to visit.

Kieran Luscombe

High quality visitor center. Comes packaged with overlook to the National Elk Refugee. A recommendation spot on your way to Yellowstone or Grand Teton.

Great visitors place and very educational

Justin Tuck

Neat place! Very informative!!

Larry Miller

The rep gave us advice about where to look for bison and elk and grizzly bears in Yellowstone National Park. And it turned out, he was spot on!!! It was wonderful!

Nancy Abernathy

Been there many times, but VERY disappointed this year with personnel with the exception of one young blonde lady who was being most helpful to tourists. Young man behind counter was yawning and rude. Must have been related to management. I do my Christmas shopping there, so no small deal. there was another lady with short dark hair who was not interested in helping. I had to follow them into the back room.

Cooper Cowart

Great town that was super easy to navigate. We had a great time and are already planning a trip back

Michael G Viemeister

Great place to visit to help plan your adventures. Very helpful and friendly staff!

Lisa Richards

A must stop not only for the information but for the exhibits and the super friendly and helpful staff. Wish we would have stopped in before we went to the Tetons and Yellowstone instead of our way out of the area.

Jim DeLung, PhD

Stop by and take advantage of the information and education provided by the exhibits and friendly staff.

Jason Henderson

WOW. What else needs to be said. The area is a must see to anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Wildlife is everywhere. We visited in June and got a small snow storm so weather is very unpredictable .

Very nice. Great place to start and get info on excursions.

William Watson

Spacious and surrounded by the awesome Grand Tetons!

Carol Stewart

Many free maps and pamphlets. Knowledgeable staff, very willing to assist.

sagar patkar

Great place to drop by before heading to Yellowstone or Grand Tetons. You can get the passes as well as information booklets here. The staff is extremely patient and helpful. They even suggest alternative plans in case your original plan is a bit tawdry.

Janine J

The visitors center. WOW! Bill and Lauren were SO knowledgeable and helpful! Felt antlers in velvet, put goat horns on head for photo ops, learned SO much about antlers and horns. It was gorgeous there! The paintings inside, are... Oh my gosh, GORGEOUS! Gregory Something. A squish the penny machine, (my first), it was just awesome!

Carolyn Muffler

we found a Super guy working there, dang forgot his name, but he gave us maps an highlighted places to go etc. we used his maps the whole time! very kind an knowledgeable!

Dave Shepherdson

Rustic & the whole town is geared around wildlife. It is extremely expensive, Redford ownes a place here as do other very wealthy folks. A standard steak will set you back $60.00 - Hollywood prices. Most of the folks who work in the town live in Idaho and commute to work

Michael Schwager

They will answer your questions quite nicely. Plenty of free parking.

VERONICA ROMERO

I love nature and respect wild life

Paulo C Zambianchi

I love that beautiful town and if I could i would live in there.....i loved all that natural beauty

Jim Steele

Very helpful. We stopped here before venturing into the park. The staff was knowledegable and helpful (friendly too). A good place to kick off your visit.

jerry boyles

Very quaint little airport!!!

Rick Byrne

Lots of great information and things to explore

Chris Cheney

The center is a great combination of accessibility to the wildlife and downtown at the same time. There are many different displays that people can check out to learn more about the area and the wildlife. The gift shop also has a nice variety. I've visited Jackson at least a dozen times and still go to the visitor center every time I go through.

Kimber Wells

Seems like it would be really cool during the season. We went on a day when it said there should be activities still, but turns out they closed earlier than it says online. We tried to get more information but the answering machine kept running us in a circle.

Sherry Mulford

Best visitors center I've ever been to. Lots to see, the animals are amazing and their staff is very friendly & helpful.

Nanik Chugani

We had a nice stop!

Isaac Larsen

Very cool visitor center!

Mike Chapman

Great little town! If you're traveling nearby, it's well worth going out of your way to stop by!

Katie Stamp

My family was visiting Jackson in early October and our vehicle had mechanical issues. While our truck was being fixed we decided to go for a bike ride with our two young sons. Unfortunately, the weather turned and we took refuge at the Visitors center to warm up, look around and make a plan for where we should go. While standing in the lobby my 1.5 yr old son was making some noise on the wheel chair ramp and one of the older men working in the gift shop proceeded to yell at us and demand that our child be quiet. It was incredibly rude and uncalled for. Instead of being professional and having a conversation to understand our situation he was brass and aggressive. I do not recommend this location for your family especially if you are visiting with children.

Dee-Ann Isenhart

It was clean and neat with reasonably priced items. Lovely view. Good information. Parking lot is a bit small. Animal displays were very interesting and the sculptures were beautiful.
