My family went on the Whitewater Rafting trip. My two boys, age 8 and 11, had no experience, neither did my wife. They all did very well after some easy coaching by our guide Hunter. It was such an amazing trip my kids won't stop talking about it, and trying to convince me they're ready for bigger rapids. If you go, I always go for the smaller rafts as they are more intense. Dave Hansen Whitewater and Scenic River Trips is an outstanding company that ensures everybody has fun.

An excellent way to spend an afternoon. We walked in and booked a same day float. The employees were very friendly and super accommodating, and our guide was a great guy who was dedicated to make sure we got the fullest enjoyment out of our experience. I definitely recommend at least a wet suit jacket because the combination of wind and the cold water of the Snake River will have you shivering otherwise. Ask for Travis as your guide for sure.

General Information

What a great white water trip! Have to say every aspect of the trip was well done. The staff was helpful and friendly, we left on time, and were greeted at the put in with life jackets, a quality newer raft, and instruction. Our guide was awesome and gave us the crash course of what to do if you go swimming unintentionally. I felt good about having my 11 year old son on the boat. As expected we got wet and had an amazing time. Even got to do a little intentional swimming which I highly recommend when your guide offers you the opportunity. I own Water Master rafts and have been building rafts and rafting for over 20 years albeit to catch a fish but I was impressed with Dave Hansen Whitewater. Highly recommended when your in Jackson Hole.

I've been on about two dozen whitewater rafting trips in my lifetime, and I can honestly say that I had the best experience ever with Billy as our guide: he was really well-informed, responsive to us, funny, and always kept things safe. Having to paddle is a normal part of the experience, and on most trips in the past, about half of the time it feels like wasted energy. However, with Billy as our guide, it felt to me as if we only paddled when we had to. He never struck a shrill tone, even when we were going into Big Kahuna. He was really knowledgeable and I learned new things about whitewater, such as why bubbles form when the waters are very deep. To conclude, the overall experience was well-organized, with no waiting around for a bus, a friendly and courteous bus driver, and a wonderful lunch prepared for us at the end of the day.

Pretty awesome river trip! Our guide, Ben was very enthusiastic and professional. Our bus driver, Dale gave the best history lesson on the area, its inhabitants, and the wildlife! You can tell he has a passion for it. The only reason I left the 5th star off is because the front staff when you arrive didn't tell us anything at all. Like can we bring a change of clothes or if there will be a bathroom opportunity before we get on the raft.... this was our first time doing this so we were clueless . Other than that we had a blast!

We very much so enjoyed our white water rafting experience. Our guide Ian was very knowledgeable and informative. We also seen bald eagles. We had times of Rapids and also times for swimming off of the raft as we were floating down the river. We took our children ages 10, 11, and 15 and we all enjoyed! My family and I did an 8 mile rafting trip this past weekend. Not only did we have a blast but we learned so much too. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with welcoming smiles and were made to feel like family. Once we were loaded onto the bus our driver, George, kept us entertained with his many jokes but also gave some amazing information on the surrounding area. I thought he went above and beyond his call of duty as a shuttle driver. McKenzie lead our boat down the river. She gave such clear directions that we immediately felt safe and more confident we our rowing abilities. In between giving us instructions, she took a genuine interest in each of us; asking us where we where from, tell us about herself, and in general connecting with the whole raft. I would recommend Dave Hansen over all other rafting companies in Jackson as our experience with them was perfect from start to finish!

This was THEE BEST white water rafting experience...period! As soon as we got there, Bud was super friendly and got my family and I fully equipped for the journey (wet suits, water booties, etc....which if you are worried about being cold, suits are a must!). Our bus driver, Bill, was super knowledgeable about the area and history of Jackson Hole and Snake River. His sarcasm was also very entertaining! And lastly, out raft guide, Hunter, was awesome! Super friendly and funny, he really made our journey down the river that much more enjoyable. Overall, HIGHLY recommended Dave Hansen’s tours!!

Bud and his crew are amazing-kind, thoughtful, safe and clearly know what they are doing. My son and I were a last minute add on to a scenic float and Bud even offered to drive us to the river so we wouldn’t miss the scenic float. It was a perfect day. Roger, our guide was thoughtful, knowledgeable, told great kid friendly jokes :) safe and just all around fun great person. This was the best white water experience I’ve had. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable of the river and very friendly. All of the rental equipment, splash suits, etc were in great shape and kept us warm on the river. It was a seamless experience to get fitted, into the bus, and then down to the river and back again. Low grey clouds, cool morning air, and eerie silence enveloped us in a aura of mystery as we began our early morning journey on the Snake river. Eight excited raft occupants scanned the shore and pointed cameras at fog laden tall pines for signs of wildlife, and we weren't disappointed. Soon the fog lifted and animals emerged along the shore and on the water, followed by several bald eagle sightings high in the tall pines overlooking the river. Our guide was experienced, entertained with river stories and pointed out the wonders of nature as we floated along on the river current. We all agreed that rafting on the Snake was an exciting trip to remember, a marvelous adventure with grand memories and wildlife photographs to show the folks back home. It greatly enhanced our vacation experience and we highly recommend it as a fun time not to be missed.

I took the 16 Mile Continuous Combo Trip with my 9 year old son and 11 year old daughter last July and we had a great trip. Everyone at Dave Hansen was wonderful. We used the wet suits as we started early in the morning and our guide was able to spot all the wildlife my kids could not find. The white water portion was great and exciting. The guide took us down the middle of the rapids and my kids and I had a wonderful time. I highly recommend the trip and Dave Hansen and next time we will go for the day long white water trip now that my kids are older.

Overall the experience was great! We went on a 16 passenger raft (had 14 people on it - 15 including the guide) in mid August. We had our 7 and 9 year old with us. Everyone on the raft had a great time! Veronica was our guide and was truly excellent! She was very competent with her rafting skills and in addition, she had lots of additional natural information to share with the group. She was fun to interact with and brought a great feeling of calm and professionalism. Just some things to think about as you think about your trip. Our kids were allowed to sit in the very front. They ended up getting quite a few face fulls of water and they both agreed they wished that they were in the 2nd seat or further back. The bus ride is long, so just plan for that. Our kids wished they would have gotten the wet jacket in addition to the wet suit. (they ended up pretty cold)

Our family had an absolutely fantastic rafting trip, which was the highlight of our stay in Jackson. Every step of the process was excellent. We liked having the option to rent freshly-dried wet jackets at a reasonable cost. The bus driver shared many interesting details about the area, loved learning about the elk refuges, and about the history of the West. Our rafting guide was super fun, she found a way to make a connection with every family on the raft. The rafting trip itself was super fun for both kids and adults, just the right amount of adrenaline, think nature roller coaster.

However, before booking I placed a note that we were with a group bachlorette party (9 people) and they decided to put us in a large boat with two families with small children, when there were other smaller boats. Great time! Billy, our guide, was excellent and would highly recommend doing this trip down the Snake River. Saw a marmot, several eagles and ospreys, and 3 river otters. Don't take anything you don't want wet because you will get soaked!

Great trip. We took the 16 mile scenic/white water small boat ride. Ben was a great guide and knew a lot for a flat lander. Actually he was excellent, informative, and good eye for eagles. We saw 7 bald eagles and a family of sea otters. I would recommend this trip for everyone. The white water portion was nice but so was the scenic ride. We took the trip early in the morning so we had the best chance to see wildlife which we did. We did not use wet suits and never felt like they were needed.

We came the end of August -- I definitely recommend getting the wet suit. The office staff really took care of us in the outfitting process. Luckily, they had sunglasses for sale for those who forgot. Our river guide Alex was awesome! He was very personable and learned everyone's names. My favorite was his genuine and polite way of inviting us to "row forward please" followed up by a "thank you." He gave us a bunch of information about the wildlife in the area and we had three otter sightings! The bus driver George was entertaining with his dry sense of humor and direct candor. He went above and beyond to share helpful tips for where to go to have animal sightings, speaking over the bus intercom in between John Denver songs. Overall, it was an awesome time!

My boyfriend and I took the 16 mile scenic/whitewater combination on the 8 man raft. We used wet suits as our trip was early in the season. Our guide, Billy, was extremely knowledgeable and provided interesting facts and good conversation along the way. The whitewater portion of the trip was exhilarating with the river flowing at approximately 9,000 CFPS. Worth every penny. I’d recommend doing the 8 man raft (over the standard) if you are looking for a good thrill... as our guide put it, the 8 man raft is like a corvette while the standard raft is like a school bus.

I can't say enough good things about this. We went as a family with my two kids (ages 11 and 8). My kids have not done whitewater rafting before so they were definitely very skeptical. The staff was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The trip was spectacular. It was late summer, so it was warm but a little overcast; but, the water is cold, so my kids and I (aka "mom") were grateful that we opted for the wetsuits.

Booking was easy, staff was super helpful, and bus ride was epically informative (thanks for the moose facts, George!), and the rafting was an absolute blast (props to Jordan for a fantastic ride). These guys know how to make this an experience rather than simply getting you down the river in one piece. I'll be booking with these fine folks down the road and would recommend them to anyone looking for a good time in Jackson.

This is an experience worth a great deal! Our experience began with the driver and van picking us up at our KOA camp ground to deliver us to the put in. Our driver was a very funny man with a rye wit about him which we fully appreciated...maybe from similar ages. Looking for moose which frequent marshy areas we arrived at the put in site. Introductions, rules and sorting into raft groups and guides got us putting on PFD's and loading into our inflated conveyance. Once pushed off, our guide, Ben in this instance, deftly glided our raft pointing out feature after feature and spotting wildlife for us to enjoy. Eagles, Osprey, waterfowl of many types, etc. Mammals to if seen. After a great float we arrived at the take-out and departed for our various destinations. A very fun adventure for those wanting to take in the natural beauty of the area from a waterborne perspective. We recommend it hightly and encourage you to also consider a more adrenalin filled ride by doing the whitewater trips. Breathtaking fun too!

Over the many years we have been coming up to the Tetons, we have gone rafting with many different companies. Dave Hansen is our all-time favorite! They are professional, fun, knowledgeable and just great! The guides made a special effort to include our grandchildren in the trip, letting them “steer” the raft and “ride the bull”! Their facility is a great place to gather before or after the trip and is centrally located in Jackson which makes it easy to walk to if you are staying anywhere near the Square. We will always use Dave Hansen when it comes to whitewater!

They had lunch waiting for us at the office and buses taking us back to the town. They let some of us borrow water shoes from their office (free of charge), that was very nice. We took the white water rafting trip down the Snake River on July 10. The organization of the trip was great. A little too much waiting around the shop before we got going, but that's not bad. Easy ride on the buses out of town to get to the launch ramp. Our guide, Josh, gave a great pre-launch safety talk. He explained more about what we needed to know after we launched the raft. We all felt very comfortable with Josh as our guide. He was fun, articulate, and an expert on the water. We were on the water for approximately 2 hours. The River was running nicely with the water still pretty high. There are some very nice rapids to go through. Nothing very scary, but large enough to provide a thrill and get the entire team wet. It was a great experience!

The white water trip was ok. If your expecting a white water trip this isn't it. There are 2 spots where you might get splashed a little bit. And I wouldnt suggest staying at the KOA. I watched one of employees make this lady cry cause she sitting at the wrong table. The messed up thing about it is there wasnt anyone around so she wasnt bothering anybody.

It was the highlight of our week long trip to Jackson Hole. Chase did an amazing job as our guide. We did the 14 - 16 person raft with ages from 11 to 80 in our group. All six from my family rated it the best thing we did while on vacation. I lost my wedding ring in the river so you might want to consider taking yours off before beginning.

We took our 10 year old boys on the whitewater trip and they loved it. Jordan was a fantastic guide and added to the fun of the trip. I would highly recommend this trip, especially to families.

Rented wet suits/booties (from CA). Eric was our guide-great job/entertaining. Met Bud (owner) who was super friendly. Both gave info on local areas/activities/dining. Highly recommend this company for any future travels to Jackson Hole area.

First time we ever went white water rafting and visiting Wyoming. First of all the customer service you get for the price is outstanding. When we first got there, they helped answer all of our rookie questions, helped with the wet suits, booties and jackets and what to wear, cause the water was ice cold and we did not realize that. Thank you!! The bus driver and one of the guides entertained us on the way to the rafting trip. They were engaging, funny and answered our questions (make sure you tip cash at the end of the trip!! its nice seeing a 20 year old with a 80's stache smiling at you) once we got to the take off spot, we were helped with our life vests. all of the head people came by and checked on us. okay for the trip,again my first time, and it was a blast. Brandon, was awesome, funny and knowledgeable. We had this know it all on the raft with us, and Brandon did a great job of just over talking this person so the rest of us rookies would enjoy our experience!! We all made it back, the bus ride back was nice, and my 2 boys got bracelets for jumping out of the raft and swimming around the raft in ice cold water, again thank you!! If i ever come back to Wyoming i will be back!! They have amazing customer service and the prices are perfect to!! Please, if you are rude person person or looking for something free, don't bother these people, they clearly have worked very hard to make this business what it is and the by the way their employees work and act, it is a great place and worth every penny!!

Our scenic guide was Chase. We had numerous bald eagle sittings, saw very cute merganser chicks, white pelicans, 2 avocets, a spotted sandpaper and many markets. Our guide was informative, entertaining and very personable. It was a great trip and I would do it again. Our white water guide was Travis. He was very experienced and inspired confidence in us all. The people in the front got thoroughly drenched at all the rapids much to their delight. We had a great swim (intentional) as well. Travis was entertaining and interesting. I would definitely take this trip again.

Great experience! Third time rafting the 8 mile river run with them over the space of 6 years. Safe, fun, and professional. Recommended for beginners or seasoned veterans without hesitation. Two pickup/dropoff options depending on what part of the Jackson area you are staying - downtown or the KOA outside of town. If you are doing the routine 12-16 man raft and your group is smaller you will be grouped with folks you do not know. For Float-O-graphs pictures that will be taken and available for purchase make sure you are at front of boat so you can "ride the bull" so you can get the classic facial reactions on camera. Great memories, great times, great company! It may seem like a lot of money per person for a 1 hour of time on the river run however, if you figure the cost of the bus rides there and back are 10-15 miles or so, insurance, cost of professional guides etc all packaged into the one price it makes sense. Also the buses are great as you can leave your belongings on the bus and not worry about theft as your driver is assigned to your group.

I was apprehensive about white water rafting both because of the potentially cold water and unfamiliarity with the size and scope of the various white water ratings. We signed up for Type II and III trip which lasted about 1.5 hours, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would do it AGAIN. Travis our guide was the best-- clearly confident, calm and careful. We met great people, jumped out of the boat when safe and thought the outfitter was well prepared, safety conscious and devoted to its customers

We had a great trip. We did the float in the early morning and the white water right afterward. We saw bald eagles and baby bald eagles, ospreys, otters, one whistle pig (marmot), ducks and geese and two deer. Our guide was Alex and he was awesome. I wish there had been more white water rapids and they had been tougher but I’m sure time of year had something to do with that. It was super fun. Right side of the raft didn’t get too soaked. The only thing I wish we would have known about is the LONG climb up to the bus afterwards. That was way too long and high. If anyone had knee issues they would not have been able to do it.

Hunter started with fun humor for my husband & me (74 year olds from Bailey Colorado and with 2 Troop leaders & 10 Boy Scouts from New Hampshire. Riotous time with the large group. Hunter kept all of us cooperating together. If Lunch Counter was the spot where it felt like we'd all go underwater in the raft - it was great. When in Jackson Hole, you must try out Dave Hansen Whitewater river rafting!! From helping you pick out a wet suit to bus transportation, they have you covered. Our bus driver Bill shared wonderful stories and history about Wyoming which had everyone on the bus entertained! Hunter, our river raft guide was experienced, knowledgeable and super fun to be around!! He even shared some food spots that the locals love! We went to this particular place afterwards and it was amazing + the restaurant had killer views - Guess you need to just go river rafting to find out what restaurants the locals recommend!!! :) Also, they sell awesome gear (hats, shirts, sweaters, etc.) and for people who wear glasses, they even have sell straps so that you won't lose your glasses going down the river!! Overall, EXCELLENT SERVICE!!! Can't wait to do it again.

I recently got to go on both the scenic tour and the whitewater rafting trip, and both were absolutely amazing! All of the girls at the counter were super helpful in answering all of my questions and getting me all ready to go for both of the trips. The scenic tour was so relaxing and offers the most breathtaking views as you float down the Snake River. My driver, Ariel, was great! She told us what to expect and gave us a little tour as we made our way to the drop-in point. We got to see some pretty neat animals while we floated down the river. My guide, Roger, was as equally awesome! If you are looking for a relaxing and amazing way to spend part of your day in Jackson Hole, I would highly recommend the scenic tour! If you are looking for a little more of a thrilling adventure, look no further than the whitewater trip! My driver, George, really set the tone for the trip and was amazing! He is so knowledgeable and gave us some great history lessons and priceless tips on seeing wildlife around the area. It was absolutely pouring by the time we made it to the drop-off point, but that did not dampen our spirits at all. Our guide, Eric, made sure we were all having a great time and even let me "ride the bull" (ride in the very front of the raft and hold on for dear life). It was exhilarating! I will say, I am glad I was wearing the wet suit and booties!!! Seeing a few locals surfing lunch counter was one of the coolest things I have ever seen! I would have never guessed in a million years that there was surfing in Wyoming! I also had the pleasure of meeting Bud, the owner. He was so friendly and his passion for the River was definitely contagious. I would highly, highly recommend booking a trip with Dave Hansen. I promise you will not be disappointed!

Myself and my three teenage sons did the 16 mile combo trip. I loved the scenery, but not sure the first half was my boys' favorite, b.c especially given they had to get up so early. We shared our raft with a nice family of four, so we spent the first half enjoying the view and talking. Hunter was a very good guide technically and was pleasant and informed about the river. The last half of this trip with the white water was a real blast, you will get soaked with some very cold water. Having taken some eastern US whitewater trips, this one was much shorter (just the whitewater section), but from an adult perspective, I thought it was about right. I would recommend this company and this trip.

Chase provided a fantastic rafting tour for us with lots of insight into the river and surroundings. He’s a great guide, and I’d highly recommend him. We did the 8 mile whitewater trip. It was myself, my husband, and our four daughters (16, 14, 11, and 8). We had a blast! All the staff were very friendly. They provided us with wet suits due to the colder temperatures. Our bus driver, Gene, was very nice and fun. Billy was our guide and he was amazing! Knew what he was doing, very informative, and a fun guy. The views were beautiful and the ride had lots of fun rapids, with scenic breaks in between. We even saw river otters playing on the bank! I would definitely go back and would recommend them.
