REVIEWS OF Sunrise Visitor Center IN Washington

Dustin Machat

Very nice area, and the weather there is great. I would definitely go here again, the view and scenery was amazing. The visitor center serves good food, and has more than enough places to sit. I enjoyed the overall outdoorsy feel of this visitor center, it is one of the better ones.

Steven Sterner

Views are fantastic. Several hikes for all levels. My the drive to see Mount Rainier you will not be disappointed.

madhavi paropkari

We visited it when there was thick cloud cover but still the nature was beautiful.

Seneca Gilmore

A beautiful place to see Tahoma up close!

Joachim Wu

This was a good visit - nice hikes (long or short) for your preference. The scenery up here is incredible and really worth it even if just visiting for a brief period. Try to use your pass for Paradise as well so you will make it even more worthwhile.

L. H.

Good- but no food on the weekdays

Estel Meeks

Beautiful place!! Not enough restrooms for the crowds and snack bar is small and expensive. Bring your own food and drinks! The trails are quite amazing and worth the trip up here!

Debora deSouza

Beautiful. Smaller than Paradise. the trails are lovely with sweeping mountain views and lots of lakes

JOSE DE JESUS BARAJAS TORRES

Amazing views to Mount Rainier. It's a nice area to hike when weather give us a break. We traveled from Nashville TN to this amazing Visitor Center. If you travel to Seattle, don't miss stop by !

Shankar Raj

Enchanting place

karmaneckwe

best hikes above the clouds in PNW

Jim Bouchard

Excellent place to start a hike. Already at 6400' at the parking lot. Cafe to visit after being in the sun. And an upgraded visitor center. Some flowers still out. Take water with you on day hikes bcuz few trails at Sunrise have streams close or crossing them.

Selena Chu

So popular during the weekend! We arrived at 12pm and couldn’t find parking at the visitor center. Parked half a mile away on the side of road. If the weather was a little bit nicer we would’ve seen mt.Rainier at its whole. Ended up taking the Frozen Lake Trail and it was moderate and nice scenery.

Rey Sales

The drive up to the visitor center is awesome. Gotta stop @ the viewpoints, it offers spectacular views. When you get to the visitor center, there are lots of trails to choose from. A must see place if you are ever in mt. Rainier.

Dawn Bartley

Trails and nice food court for hiking or lunch with a little museum and it was very busy but great views

Renee Buck

Experience the Alpine, beautiful trails and visitor center facilities.

Kelsey Cross

Love visiting here. Amazing views of Mt. Rainier (assuming it's not cloudy), and there are many trails to choose from nearby.

Chirag Bhatt

The visitor center is nice and fine. nothing spectacular. Pretty sparse inside and the focus is to explain and show the park from this area's viewpoint. They have small exhibits explaining the mountain and trails and wildlife etc

Sharon k Campbell

One of the most amazing places in the Country, and Washington State. On a clear day you hit the jackpot of views. Hiking trails, meadow flowers, wildlife and did I mention magnificent views?

Angela Chen

A great vantage point of the mountain, knowledgeable rangers, some nice short hikes in the area

Brenda Collins

Wow oh wow Great Views of Mt Rainier!

Nelsonomics Runs

Really cool Summer visit. Great views and the hiking sounded nice though we didn't. The elevation is almost 7000' and I'm in great shape but elevation effects me a lot

Jennifer Herrmann

So many beautiful trails to choose! Wonderful park staff and volunteers to help!

W F

Truly stunning views! Definitely recommend getting here before 10am for easier parking.

Evil Genius

Personal favorite day destination in the Park. Sunrise is smaller and usually less crowded than Paradise. Gorgeous views along the way; even better views once you're there. A very good range of easy to difficult day hiking options.

Michael Huff

Not a good day. Completely fogged in so we got to see nothing. Probably great views on a clear day

Summers Vincent

Offers beautiful views of Mount Rainier and of the rising sun.

Aaron M

Great visitors center, with excellent information about the area and volcano. There are 2 water bottle fill stations, 1 inside and 1 outside. A sign letting you know that there is an additional water bottle filling station would have been a very helpful thing! Also the bottle filler was at about a trickle, making take forever to fill up a quart sized water bottle!

Jair Teixeira

A beautiful spectacle of nature, I enjoyed it very much.

Robert John

Top places to visit in the NW literally and figuratively

Will Huhn

Best views of rainier, recommend coming here instead of paradise if you have to choose one

David Snider

Pretty spectacular. A lot of good information.

linda slusarczyk

Beautiful views of Mount Rainier from the visitor center. There was information and models, a snack shop and gift center. Glad we made the trip!

Navil Christian

Views, views and views everywhere you see.

Josh Grace

Felt like heaven

Very interesting place to visit. We enjoyed the walk to the scenic outlook over Mt Rainier and were lucky to have a perfect view. We met a nice elderly couple from Seattle who volunteer most weeks and were very knowledgeable on many things.

Dakota K

What a great place to begin in Mount Rainier. The store is small, but nice. The visitor center also contains some educational stuff on the inside, which is nice for kids. The real draw is how central this visitor center is to so many great hiking trails. We saw some bears while we were out on the Burroughs hike. The view of the summit is also incredible from this location. Highly recommend visiting this if you happen to be in the Pacific Northwest.

Kyanne Lawrence

Great spot! The visitor center itself has interesting information about volcanoes and about Mt. Rainier. We weren’t able to see Mt. Rainier incredibly well from Sunrise (it was cloudy) BUT on the drive up there was a pull of area where we got an AMAZING view of the mountain in between clouds. Felt very lucky!

Mohnish Kulkarni

Sunrise point is a must-see if you visit Mt Rainier. Don't forget to stop and the lookout point a mile before you reach the visitor center!

Shambhu Viraktamath

Well maintained nationalpark and visitor center speaks for that. Adequate facilities, guided ranger programs, a lodge, a cafeteria and huge parking lot. Plan accordingly as it can get crowded easily, as it has access to some very scenic trails.

Harry Everett

Had a lot of fun up here with the family did some hiking And looked at some exhibits

maggie

Absolutely breathtaking! We arrived at 0930, before the crowds and before the visitor center opened. Hiked to 2nd Burroughs mountain.... amazing views. Weather was perfect!

Sue G

Beautiful day, views and sights

Hyder Al Rumaih

I visited both visitor centers (Sunrise and Paradise) , spent few hours in each of them. And I'm totally recommending both : Sunrise is the highest point that can be reached by vehicle at Mount Rainier National Park. On clear summer days, Sunrise provides breathtaking views of Mount Rain. Paradise is famous for its glorious views and wildflower meadows. and it is the park's main visitor center.

Jim Flynn

Lots of terrific views and awesome hikes!!!

Douglas Alan Maitelli

Impressive view

the hyper modder

Vary informative, but if you're going to mt.rainer you have to go on at least the easy hike outside of the center, even though there are other, better hikes.

keren shwartz

Beautiful place! If you enjoy hiking there's plenty of trails around and if not, there the sunrise view point where you can park your can and enjoy the views. Drive slow especially at night time because wildlife crossing the road.

Fan Zhao

Very good visitor center. The trails nearby are excellent. Compared to Paradise, Sunrise’s a little far from the summit, but I like Sunrise better because of the trails. I came during Labor Day weekday in the morning and parking was difficult to find, so it could be better to come early.

Jeramy Louderback

Great drive, great scenery

Jason Yee

The visitor center is much larger than your think it is! The parking lot looks big but the visitor center like bigger. It has information about the background into Mount Rainier along with the local people who loved and help build what you see today. Of course there is a ship for food, drinks, and souvenirs. Absolutely great place to go with a great natural wonder. I only wished they would provide more interactive time with the local guides and rangers.

Victor Wilhelm

It's a good visit center with a few exhibits describing mount Rainier. There's a store nearby with food and provisions. Hiking nearby and some range led programs. $30 park entry is well worth it. #travelformortals

David Lucavish

Just plain beautiful!@

Dmitry Lebed

Nice remote visitor center, not as crowded as paradise.

Jason Peterson

Beautiful views of the mountain!

kyler sperry

Absolutely spectacular. One of the best views I've ever had

Karen N Cricket

Holy moly what a view! They could offer more information, if they have any. Hikes all around. Stunning scenery. Mt Rainier is a beautiful place.

Larry

Large gathering area for hikers and sightseeing. Visitor center is okay. Gift shop and snack bar are good. Lots of trailheads and beautiful vistas.

Genevieve Judge

It's beautiful here. Lots of hiking around, nice bathrooms, and fabulous views of the mountain.

Noufal E

We got speeding ticket , watchout for speed limits . Beautiful location

John Lyback

Nice clean and comfortable place to stop.

자유의 남자 JU IL제임스 주

Cloud every trails so beautiful

Jeff King

Absolutely beautiful view of Mt Rainier. Lots of historical information available at the center. Lots of hiking trail options around the visitor center with kid friendly hikes and more strenuous hikes with better view points of the mountains and valleys below.

Tanvir Mahmud

It is like a piece of heaven in the earth. Surrealistic view of mighty Mt. Rainer. I did a medium hike there.

Brock Steffen

Beautiful. You want to arrive by 8 at the latest though - you don't want to be in the mile long train of cars waiting for parking.

Nellie Dimitrova

We had great time exploring the area although the weather was far from being perfect. It was actually quite chilly and the light drizzle turned into a downpour. Fortunately for us, the visitor center was opened so we spent half an hour around the cozy fire. They offer a selection of interesting books and maps - it’s worth looking at if you are a nature enthusiast like myself.

Kunal Mehta

Descent drive to the summit. You'll find food choices and great gift shops. There are many hiking trails from this place. We did shadow lake hike, but wasn't worth it. You could go half way and look across a scenic mountain and return

susan lee

Very informative with friendly guides. Some nice souvenirs that weren't really pricey.

Balaji G.

If u want a really close up view of Rainier.. this is a really good spot. There are also several good trails like Mt Fremont lookout trail, Burrough mountain trail ( each 6-10 miles) and also short trails like Shadow lake trail ( saw a bear on this trail) , Emmon vista trail, Silver forest trail.

marina Chiarletto

Very nice, well maintained

Dave Sykes

The Sunrise Visitor Center on the east side of Mount Rainier National Park provides unique views of Rainer's amazing vistas and ecosystems.

Dennis Drummond

I love this place. I do several hikes every summer. Go early, it does get crowded on weekends. People from around the world know of and visit this this mountain. For the best time be prepared for the weather be it sunny or not. You can burn severely at this altitude. 14,400 feet.

Mark Millette

What an incredible place! This is the highest viewing location of Mt. Rainer at 6400', I waited days for the clear night for this shot and well worth the wait!

Jared Weist

went on a cloudy / misty day and it was still beautiful! facilities were nice, a must-do on a clear / sunny day

A Google User

One of the most spectacular places on earth of course!

Jimmy Son

What's not to love? Amazing views, a variety of trails, a bit of education and some pretty good refreshments. Get here before 9:00 of you don't want to fight for parking.

Carla Oliva

Always 5 stars to National Parks!

Anastasia Whitaker

This a great place for an adventure. Hikers dream and really pretty! A good day trip! They have hot chocolate in the gift shop for $3.50 and a hot dog is $7.00, that must come with fries. The gentleman helping us was really nice and held friendly conversation while he was ringing us up.

garrett mclarty

Our national parks are our treasure. Read some John Muir and bring the right clothes for the weather. Download maps such as Oruxmaps, Locus maps or Gaia ahead of time and then explore.

Susanne Williams

Beautiful building inside and out. The staff was very friendly. Huge parking area. The view of Mt. Rainer was breath taking and we got some fantastic pictures of it. I recommend visiting here.

Kendall Larson

This is a pretty nice visitor center in Mt. Rainier National Park. Pretty average visitor center but the hikes leading away from it are pretty awesome. Deji peak is amazing and not very difficult, as well as other random split offs for unique views. The people in the visitor center are also very knowledgeable.

Sweta Kumar

No doubt, Sunrise is beautiful. But I went in afternoon and I feel this is not the good time to see Mount Rainier. Morning hours will be definitely more beautiful.

Henry Valz

Probably the best place on all of Mt. Rainier.

Asmita Sawhney

Great part of the national park with nice trails. Definitely check the weather before going otherwise you’ll be looking at nothing but mist all around.

Maitrik Patel

Enjoyed the hike in late August. There are several hikes from short (1 mile) to long distance. Gorgeous view of Mountains! Next time I would go in mid July so the view of the Mountains would be more spectacular with snow. It's open from July thru September. Also like to stay at the lodge to witness light of the Sunrise on the Mt Rainier in the morning, like the name says.

Ronnie D'Souza

A must every summer

Pat Fail

What an amazing place to stop and see beautiful views of Mt. Rainier. The workers and rangers are very helpful in guiding you to different hiking trails from the visitors center. There's a small eatery and place to buy snacks. But I will say that they are pricey, so you can bring your own lunch and go to the picnic area they have. Overall....it was a fantastic experience!!

Marty Lyons

The name says it all! Within a couple of miles of the end-of-the-road Visitor Center is a 180 degree turn around a narrow observation point. This is THE PLACE to watch a sunrise. Sunrise at Mount Rainier is a premier location to watch the star appear that gives us life. The beauty of watching an entire sunrise from this location is amazing. Your choices are to stay overnight at the observation point or enter the park well before dawn. If you're not really bundled up, staying overnight at the 6000' altitude will chill some people to the point of shivering. My recommendation; get up early and allow plenty of time. The sunrise starts with a gradual lightening in the eastern sky. This begins several hours before sunrise. The transition is from the contrast of intensely bright stars to a dimming and lightening of the sky. If you're lucky, there will be high clouds to the east. As the earth spins, with high clouds the sunlight initially illuminates the bottom of the clouds, creating a gorgeous panorama of red, pink, orange and other shades at the top of the visible spectrum. Unless you have specialized lenses and filters, just soak it up and enjoy being in the moment. There are no surprises here. There's nothing else to do but watch another day on this amazing planet begin. The sun sets the rhythm of all life, and it's here is all of it's majesty for the price of park entry.

Asif Adnan

Spectacular. Marvelous. Wonderful. I don't have the ability to express the feelings have whenever I visit this place. Driving towards this place is pleasant. If you don't want to wait at the entrance, you probably would start very early or stay nearby. It has great picnic spots.

Morgan Scheuttle

Awesome trail head for really satisfying hikes as well as super approachable routes with astounding views.

Gerard Driscoll

An excellent getaway and enjoyment to hike and explore

M Morrison

Had lunch there but it's better to bring your own food and save. The views of Mount Rainier are fantastic though.

Mot Hedges

This is the highest elevation that you can drive to in the park. Great hikes from here.

Marshall Gill

Absolutely Awsome place to stop for refreshments food hot meals, and a huge gift shop. The staff and service are outstanding.

Christopher Young

Great place. Would pack a lunch before going. Alo is you go to the top. Breathe deep. That is is thin and makes you sleepy. Souvenirs are cheap.

lorena Zambrano

Good experience to be close from the volcano come and visit seattle the view is amazing.the trip is wonderful u can see also the white river Beutiful place.

Jim Fisher

Mt Rainer is one of my favorite outdoor places in Washington! Must see!!! Bitcoin donations gladly accepted 3CncbhLBpduZYQznXQDqdQHVSPTAMmvWBS

Allison Frye

This has to be one of the best visitor centers for Mt. Rainier! My husband and I did the Mt. Fremont hike and it had absolutely breathtaking views. The hike was about 6 miles round-trip and took us about three hours but it was totally worth it. The trail was well marked but narrow at times. There are a few pictures of the trail below .

Darlene Stewart

Mount Rainier is my home away from home. Absolutely love coming up here. So pretty, so informational, great hikes in this area... ♡♡♡ photos:darlenestewartphotography

Hugo Pelland

Great! Well, I think, we couldn't see anything. Unlucky us...

Ann P

Simply amazing.

Kit Frederic

Today was a lovely sunshine day. The Sunrise VC was closed. The mountain was clearly visible. Best Wishes!

Anni Ka

The hiking area around is giant, the hiking trails were in a good condition, only the snowfields were not that good to hike. The views are amazing when you are lucky and it is clear. The visitor center itself is okay.

Andy Bhakta

Nice hikes!

Albert Madariaga

Get here as the sun rises and you will marvel at God's creation. Be careful as the drive up is winding and lots of deer and animals may be crossing the road.

Ashleigh Austin

Breath taking! Great customer service and easy access!

Hanul Chung

Such a beautiful Sierra with wilderness flowers and the snow mountain in mid summer. Very nice hiking course and the grand view of the valley. Clear water lakes around the forest in the valley and green gress field.

Jay Ryu

Great hiking course
