For the second year in a row I booked a major overseas trip with CI Travel. I had not had any problems when doing so the year before (except the agent getting back to me seemed a little slow). After booking my tickets a while back I inquired about canceling as my wife was not in the best of health. I was told there would be a cancellation fee of a few hundred dollars and the remainder of two very expensive tickets would be credited to my account for use for a year. Two days before departure, there was a medical emergency with my wife and I had to cancel the trip. Repeated emails clarifying the cancellation were ignored, and, oh, BTW, it turns out none of the ticket price was refundable. That leaves me in the hole for $2500. My bad for not looking into travel insurance (would have been nice if the agent had reminded me to do so) but the lack of communication and changing of the rules without proper communication was dreadful. No communication from the agent meant that I ended up, in desperation, emailing one of the VPs, who, to his credit, did his best to help. Go somewhere else where they answer your emails properly, in a timely fashion, and look after the customer rather than racking up tickets for the bottom line.

I am extremely disappointed in the recent services! Upon canceling I learned from agent that my deposit was the insurance amount therefore No refund! I have used this agency numerous times, recommended family and friends... trusted CI travel with all my travel plans and now because of my daughter summer college classes I am unable to travel... I am charged $298.00 for canceling a trip in Mid June.. Before booking please understand what you are paying for so you won't get shocked like I did today. Not sure if I be recommending in the future...very disappointed!!!
