Great trail, wonderful views.

Thiccboi6669420

Its beautiful and very unique. There is a short 1.5 nile hike up there and down But its paved and has benches and a restroom at the end. Its well worth it for the cave, just be careful becsuse its very tight and takes some time. Enjoy! There is lots of wildlife and some shade and a few benches.

Brian McEwan

The hike is decently steep but the cave is pretty awesome

Gemini Saven

Fantastic place to visit. The hike is hard, but worth it. Go prepared with plenty of water, good shoes, and a jacket. Listen to the park rangers! They are very smart people who will help make your trip easier, safer, and more enjoyable.

Dan Zismer

It's a tuff hike but very well worth it

Steven Bressan

Beautiful cave set far up the side of a mountain. A picturesque hike along a well maintained trail leads to a very interesting your by a park service guide. The hike to the entrance is strenuous, but manageable. Many benches and resting location are provided.

Robert Yambrick

Well worth the steep hike to the cave entrance with spectacular views of the canyon along the way. Highly recommend making reservations in advance for the small group guided tours.

Mark Bell Jr.

Must try experience! First time ever going into a cave system and I still feel it was one of the most incredible experiences EVER! Solid hike on the way up, too.

Kelli Campbell

The caves do NOT disappoint!!! And the guides are GREAT!!! REALLY know their stuff. I hadn't done the hike in 6 years, either the trees grew taller, they planted MORE trees OR...I just didn't remember how much wonderful shade the hike had. It's STEEP, but very very doable for EVERY level. Plenty of places to stop and take breaks.

London Reid

Climbing up to the caves and taking the tour is an amazing experience I recommend to anyone in the area. It’s always fascinating to see the caves and fun to take someone who has never been. The staff is helpful and kind and the nature and sights are breathtaking.

Mark Boyer

Quite the hike to take the cave tour. Beautiful area!

Ben Moon

Completely worth the time, cost and great for everyone. Bring a jacket, water, walk slow no need to rush, enjoy the tail they give you plenty of time to get to the cave entrance from the the time you check in for your ticket time at the bottom. It is fun meeting people from all over the country and world, take time to chat!

Brett D

If you can make the hike, the cave is breathtaking. Seriously a great asset for the Utah valley. Love this place.

Mark Christensen

Cave tour. Strenuous hike. Educational experience. Jr. Ranger Program. Beautiful views. Amazing canyon.

Al Anderson

The rangers here are extremely nice, and very helpful and friendly. The hike to the cave and tour are somewhat strenuous, so plan accordingly, and take water. The caves and scenery are spectacular and worth the effort.

Robin Antunez

Difficult but beauty hike and such an awesome cave at the top. Down is much easier than up. I love doing this with my family when we can.

Erica-Jacqueline Longhurst-Kendall

I love hiking the trail to the cave. My kid loves it as well. We try to go as often as we can but it’s not as much as we would like. Beautiful views. Helpful rangers. Friendly locals. It’s a good hike for the whole family. The cave tour is awesome. Done it a few times and totally worth the hike.

David Lawyer

Very family friendly. Trail is paved. Pretty steep in spots. Excellent tour of the cave system.

Jamie Richards

Wonderful but tough hike.

Kristine Clifford

Strenous hike, but the cave tour is great! Take water. Really. And a snack as well.

Cassandra Miller

Beautiful hike and cave!

Rebecca Eavenson

Lots of formations I've never heard of before and the process of finding each kind was explained very well. Great directions on the website especially when referring to what a person needs to prepare for up to and back from the caves. It's a bit of a hike up there (about 1.5 miles with an elevation climb of about 21 storeys). They allow an hour and a half for you to get to the caves, which was just enough for me. I used to hike a lot, so the trail was tougher than I had expected. Plenty of places to take a breather without worrying about rockfall. Also, if you don't like tight spaces there are moments when you really need to crouch to continue along the path. For the most part very open. If these things aren't a problem for you, then I highly recommend!

David Supinger

Super cool hike and then cave. There is a lot to see and is a fun tour through the caves. I would recommend a light sweater or something as it does get pretty cold down in the cave at times. We also brought small camel backs holding some food and water as the hike is a bit long and was nice to sit and eat at the top before going into the cave.

Aleesa Parsons

Great workout. Didn’t go in the caves but it was a nice hike up and back, pretty steep but paved the whole way.

Wendy Tobey

Be careful coming out of the parking lot!!!! No visibility looking to the right because of the new building!!

Jay F

Awesome place! Be prepared for some pretty good walking up to the caves....I recommend bringing plenty of water and factoring in the time it may take for kids to make this trip, they may need a little more time. Plenty of great photo opportunities on the way up and up top. Some great pull-offs on the road to the parking area as well.

Kim Barker

Unbelievable! Love it every time.

Tom Ericksen

Nice hike to the caves. The caves are cool to see. Good tour, very interesting.

Michael Pound

Great hike with plenty on benches and paved all the way. Parking was fine. Kids liked the numbers among the path.

Priya Thomas

Omg the most amazing experience of my life so great .. enjoyed so much .. it’s an adventure, please take big water bottle. It’s best if you buy ticket before or go really early in the morning.. you may need light jacket to enter cave because the temperature is 42 degree inside cave . Don’t carry big bag pack as they won’t allow inside the cave due to smaller spaces to walk. All rangers and guides are helpful. Take water food good tennis shoes hat before to get there you can buy some last moment stuff but it is very expensive.. ticket to enter cave is $8. Hope it helps

Natalie Burger

It is an uphill hike but even the 4 year old could do it. It's like hiking the Y but easier and lots of tree growth around you. As for the caves, the pitch black ess is mind-blowing (when lights turned out ) and the color, science, and beauty behind it all. Recommend it for all.

Micki Oliver

Love love love this hike

Tony Suen

Hike is difficult but the cave is quite mice.

CK Kirton-Niner

Wear your diamonds on this hike Ladies & Gentleman... increases the value of the tour by adding a light show even the Pharaoh wants back home. #ROCKYWOOD #MagicalMomentsInCaves with The Queen and Her HEART by RESERVATION ONLY?!

Gretchen Smoot

This is a beautiful hike. We do a lot of hiking in our family and this is not so much a hike, but a walking path. It is quite steep though so if traveling with small children, plan to take breaks in some of the designated areas. We managed to be the last group of the day which was an incredible experience to be walking down the path as the sun began to set and the canyon was awash in light. Definitely a great thing to try!

Sondra Pierre

Fun hike on paved but steep inclined trail. Didn't do the tour inside only the hike. Beautiful scenery and popular hiking spot.

Edward Cariello

Worth the money and the hike to get there.

Tom Mugleston

Spectacular. We lucked out and even got our own private tour for the family.

David Nicholas

We read the information on the park website and wondered how could a cave tour be strenuous, we understood when we arrived that the tour included the hike up. We made it up in about a half hour, but we were pushing ourselves. There is a pit toilet up at the top, flush toilets down at the bottom are a lot nicer. The features in the cave are especially exciting and cover the majority of the walls (besides the connecting tunnels created for the park). Well worth the 3 hours of your day. Make sure to look at the canyon on the walk down.

allen sproul

BRING HEADLAMPS OR FLASHLIGHTS! Very helpful in the caves. BRING A JACKET even in the heat of summer as the cave will be very cold. Hike is steep at the end though not get long. Our 6 and 8 year old made it with fairly nominal complaining. There are rest stations we used to track our progress and rated more frequently towards the top. There is one spot that is a little more dangerous as the trail narrows substantially. Keep kids near during this point as they and you will be a little more nervous.

Dawn Mitchell

Amazing place. Surprised I waited so long to visit. There are beautiful picnic areas at the base of the hike to have a before or after lunch. The hike was relatively short, but very very steep. Be cautious if you're naturally from a much lower altitude. I'd recommend giving a week or two to acclimate yourself to higher elevations. My family is active and hikes often, but did this after only one day in the area, coming from 500ft elevation. This hike elevation increases 1,092 ft to an elevation of 6,730. That would be the only chance I would have made. Once we got to the top however, it was very well worth it as the cave itself was positively remarkable! I had difficulty moving along because there were so many things to see. Amazing experience overall. Would definitely do it again..... with sone added acclimation time of course.

Logan Christiansen

Amazing place and amazing service loved it

Blake Olenik

One of the most interesting places to visit in American Fork Canyon. The hike is paved and very doable for all. Don’t forget to reserve a time slot before going! Our tour guide that we had was exceptional and knew her stuff. There is one part of the tour that is exceptionally riveting. Don’t miss this experience if you’re from or are ever passing through the valley!

Adam Balinski

Never actually been. Plan on going. Heard great things. Just couldn't handle that there were 666 reviews...

Joshua Fowles

The cave is amazing. It was very refreshing to go into the 45 degree cave after hiking in the 90 degree summer day. The trail is steep. It is paved so it is easy to walk, but if you are not fit plan on taking about 20-30 minutes more than average and take time to enjoy the many scenic benches and information stops. Kids also will enjoy these stops. The only restrooms are at the bottom or top of the trail. There is nothing in between.

Nate Gomez

Strenuous hike up but So worth it!!

Ladd Larsen

Really fun steep hike

Amanda Jones

Clean, beautiful, well-managed trail that even kids can handle. The cave was intriguing! Awesome sights and good experience.

Daniel Quilter

This was a great place. We came to hike around and just see the beauty of the area. The park rangers were very helpful and informative. They gave me a free map and good descriptions as well as directions to every nearby hike and point of interest. If you're in the area then I'd recommend checking this place out.

AC VA

Awesome "field trip" with the kids The hike was a bit harder than we anticipated and be sure to pack a large bottle of water. The tour is really neat, we had sweaters so didnt get cold.

Paul Robertson

Beautiful place. Rangers were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the tour and the beautiful surroundings. We had an early start (8:15 am) and that was nice because we had shade the whole way up. Be aware that although the trail is paved, it's a steep, strenuous hike up. Granted, I'm not a particularly fit person, and I live at a much lower altitude, so it's certainly doable for people in generally good health, and there are plenty of places to stop and catch your breath.

Makenna Sanders

It was an amazing experience. The introduction to caving tour was very interesting and fun. The rangers are very helpful and nice.

Melissa Johnson

I'm not going to lie, I thought the hike might kill me. I try to be active and in shape, but that hike really took it's toll. That being said, it was more than worth it! I wanted to make memories with my kids, and this was a great family activity. We have 5 kids, aged 7 - 15, and they all loved it. We took our time hiking up, but made it 20 minutes before our scheduled time. I was a bit worried, as some of my kids struggled more than others, but they all made it up, and thanked us profusely it! Round trip, it took us 3 1/2 hours, but like I said, we went pretty slow. The caves themselves are absolutely stunning! Favorites were the heart of the cave and the blackout (all of it really). It sells out daily, so reserve your spot early, especially if you have a larger group. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone, just be aware of the physical aspect of it.

Michael Fluckiger

Great family adventure, an amazing cave and beautiful hike. Would've been 5 stars but no one mentioned at the start that we had only so much time to get up the trail. With my 6 year old daughter and my 81 year old mother we took longer than others. When we got to the top they said they wouldn't let us in, but the group after us was late, so we did get to go in. The ranger in the cave was fantastic with our group, especially the kids.

Tiffany R

Nice but scary trail if you got hikers who wander away from the paven trail. It was very pretty and shaded well most of the way. It is also paved but you can't bring a stroller. If you have little kids who like to wander you might want to have more adults to help keep children away from the edge.

Kristina Randall

The cave is an amazing experience! The hike up, is quite the hike. It is a moderate hike so plan to go when not overly hot. Otherwise plan to make stops when possible. There are benches along the way and great views of the canyon. This is a must see when voting Utah.

Brittany Daw

Such a totally cool place! The hike is hard, but my 8 year old rocked it. The cave is worth the hike. Such neat formations and the ranger did a great job (thanks Rickey) of explaining things and making it fun and interesting for all ages. The hike down was hard on the knees, but again, worth it.

Mindy Gibson

So fun to hike here up to the beautiful cave system! A very family friendly experience!

Kristin

It was a hard hike I am out of shape and carried a baby half way(husband did the rest) and I made it in 85min bottom to the top of the cave. Bring Lots of water and good shoes. Hard but a neat experience. Some of the cave pasages were low requiring ducking and I had to be careful squishing through a few spots with the baby not to touch walls but it was not too bad. I hate small spaces, and felt fine :)

Ryan Dark

The hike is pretty steep but the cave is worth it.

Garrett Fuller

Great place to go for a family outing or field trips. The rangers here are very knowledgeable and friendly. Go here often if I need to take a brother. The trail is free and it is a small fee if you want to go see the cave but if you have never seen it, then the price is well worth it. Coming here during the summer it is rather busy and you should make a reservation. There are a lot of people from out of country that come here and you compete for a tour time with them.

Red Rider

Well-curated tour by knowledgeable and patient Park staff. Beautiful and varied cave formations. Sometimes challenging but always interesting walkways through the 3 caves. I will return.

Douglas Brown

The hike up to the cave really kicked my butt. You should know though I'm an out-of-shape kind of fat 52 year old guy so it might not be as hard if you're young and in shape. Once we made it to the top (which was a mile and a half), the view was amazing! The guided tour through the caves was fascinating and beautiful. I would high recommend it

Richard Featherstone

The hike up gets your heart beating. It's 1,100 feet. However, it's a paved path the whole way. The rangers are very friendly and the view is quite extraordinary. The cave itself is interesting with a variety of textures and colors. The cave is lighted enough to traverse, but I would recommend bringing your own flashlight so you can see a few dark corners.

Nick Hurd

Great! It was a long hike for the in-laws, but my kids and I did well. Went through a surprising amount of water this time around, luckily packed extra, suggest the same! The cages were well worth it! The guide was awesome as well!

Elite Boi

Nice place fpr hikers!

troy morzelewski

The caves are amazing. Hike is uphill all the way. It is moderate but not difficult and only around 2 miles each way. There were several older adults and very young children on the trail and they all made it. Hard to get a ticket for the caves so make sure to purchase them online in advance of your trip or you will likely not get a spot.

steven bachota

Awesome trip. First time up the mountain. It was tiring but well worth it. Got to do the tour into the cave with Mac and he was fantastic. Took our time and even got to see a brown bat. Well worth the drive and hike!!!!!!

Mike Barnes

Great hike and beautiful caves. Early to mid morning appointments are best if you want a cooler hike, which takes about an hour or two to ascend. Highly recommend.

MARTHUSE motivation

Greater place beautiful nature best place for camping and picnic

Lucy Kellis

This place is stalac"tight" if you know what I mean. But seriously, go up and try to see your own hands in the dark.

Kelli Coffman

Strenuous uphill hike that levels out in intervals. The views are spectacular and the hiking path is well maintained. A very educational and interesting tour with the FORREST service. A must!

Andrea Rasmussen

Killer hike up to the cave if you're out of shape, but doable and so worth it! These caves are some of the most beautiful I've seen.

Gopinath G

Excellent week end trekking hills cave. Evening 6pm closed. Need to carry water bottle.lots of bats and water falls entry fee 8$ washroom available car parking available.if you across road eating spot with river flow water. Peaceful place lot more energy required or red bull need. Walk walk walk

Robert Everill

Timpanogos Cave is a marvelous cave. Excellent and widely varied cave formations, and a very up close experience. Approximate 1 and half mile hike up a relatively steep trail. Be sure to get reservations ahead of tme.

James Morrissey

Great exercise reaching the cave in the mountain

Sherril David

This walk is great! Not too bad if you take it slow! Great in early morning! Jacket or sweater for inside cave! Such s great tour!

David Cottam

Absolutely amazing! We took our children (7 years - 7 months) and they loved it. The hike is steep, but well worth it.

bertbob21 .

The hike is very steep and difficult but totally worth it! The cave is beautiful and cold, which feels nice after the hike.

Sarah Parkin

This is a national monument that is very interesting to visit. The tours are incredibly given. The site is kept relatively far from much tourist traffic. I live in the area and have only been able to go a few times but it's very worth it. The trail leading to the caves is very well maintained and somewhat easy, except for the length. I'd recommend going as early as you can afford. It gets hot up there the later you wait.

Tory Norman

It's a steep 1.5 miles literally up the mountain to the caves, but it's worth it. The caves are tight in some places, but really cool and well preserved. The tour guides were polite and entertaining.

Dawn Geer

The best ever loved my guide and bat

Madeline Griffin

These caves are worth the two mile hike. It's a bit cold inside the cave so bring a jacket. We had a great time

Nathan Corry

I love this hike. It's pretty tough going up and great exercise.

john christiansen

The hike up,during summer months can hit 100° and is fairly taxing. Children may hike and enter the cave, but strollers are not permitted. Carrying a child will be difficult. Temp inside the cave is 45°, so bring a coat. Backpacks larger than a standard school pack may not be brought in.

Spence Flandro

Friendly staff , great hike and a beautiful cave. Be sure to book reservations in advance.

Ella Ran

Excellent hike for families, even with smaller kiddos. Great facilities and guides, paved trail with benches to rest along the way. It's mostly shaded in the beginning and if you go earlier in the day. It's $12 admission per person. They only allow 16 people for each tour at the caves, so book ahead to make sure you get the time you prefer. Great views and not too steep. Bring at least 24 oz of water (32+ is better) and healthy snacks. A warm sweater or jacket is a must, especially for youngins. It's about 45° F inside the caves, and you spend about an hour learning about them and exploring the three main caves. Definitely recommend if you're in the area, want to see these beautiful mountains without a hike that's a killer. Take only photos and leave nothing but footprints!

Matthew Durrant

Very interesting! This is a great stop for anyone wanting to visit a local National Park Service unit. Make sure to get tickets early.

Rianna Ewell

Soooo fun and pretty

Patricia Ogborn

Making the 1,100 vertical elevation, strenuous hike up the Timpanogos Mountain to the cave entrance is well worth the time and effort. The mountain scenery and park-ranger-guided cave tour were spectacular! Be sure to book your cave tour well in advance because tours are limited to 16 people each, and they sell-out quickly.

P Miller

This was a pleasant cave. It is a living cave - meaning it is still being formed. I have toured other "tourist" caves. This one was actually a rather short tour. However, the formations were interesting and the tour guide was knowledgeable. As others have mentioned, the hike to the cave was a workout. The cave itself was pretty relaxing though. I enjoyed the experience and so did the 10 year old I went with.

Annette Martin

We really love this hike and going to the caves. My husband and I took our three young children. Ages seven, five and a half, and four. They all did great. Remember to bring water, food, and jacket. The food gives a great extra little boost to get you through the hike especially if you have kids. Our kids walked the whole way and we did not even carry them at all.

Dakota Belliston

I have been here multiple times. It's always a favorite as one of the coolest caves including informative guides. My kids also love it. FYI: You have to obtain tickets in advance. Usually 1-2 months in the busy season. They do have 1st come 1st serve the day of but are usually sold out very quick.

Dj Valdez

Great experience, friendly and knowledgeable rangers. Getting to the caves make the trek up worth every step.

A Elaine Matthews

I've been here several times and always enjoy it. At the ranger station they have interesting displays plus information they can share with you about the caves and others like it. The hike up to the caves themselves is not too difficult because it's on a paved path although the path is steep in places. They do have benches along the way to stop and catch your breath.

Dona G

I went on their tour with my team and absolutely loved it. The hike up was very beautiful, though a bit exhausting with the sun exposure. It is very doable within a 30 to 90 minute time frame, depending on the person. The tours are very good, and the different parts of the cave itself are fascinating. The formations vary a lot, and I especially loved the part with the fault line. I would highly recommend whatever tour they offer. Keep in mind, however, that they only operate in the summer season, and tickets fill up fast. So tickets should be bought at least three weeks in advance for good measure. One suggestion to the staff though is to book the start times not so far out in case people finish their hike up in decent time. We ended up waiting an extra 45 minutes at least as a large group because they over shot our hike time.

Missy Monk

Great place to visit whether you are a local or visiting from out of town. Very interesting cave and great guided tour. Make sure you bring lots if water and buy tickets well in advance. Some tickets sold a few days before and day of but I wouldn't rely on it. It is a steep climb but has plenty of benches to rest along the way. This is a must see.

Joe

This Cave is very nice just like the trail hiking up to the cave, very beautiful scenery and the cave itself is very awesome, highly recommended, and very inexpensive. a good meal before the hike might be a good idea, water and maybe a light jacket or sweater. it's very cool inside. Very friendly guides. :)

Vinnie Brazelton

Hiking to the cave was a very fun time. My wife was 7 months pregnant and made it up easily. The rangers at the start and throughout we're very helpful. They even helped us to see some mountain goats that were near the trail. I definitely will come back and see the caves again.

Kevin Nelson

Dave was a fun and exciting tour guide. We learned a bunch and it was really cool. The hike was just right. Our 4 year old even made it!

Dan Fares

Strenuous but fun hike and tour that even my 6 year old twins loved. If my children like it, it is worth a lot to me.

Daniel Roth

Pretty great hike! (I mean, you'll feel it later in your legs, but it's gorgeous and worth it) The cave itself is beautiful and a work of wonder! Highly recommend visiting this site! It's not that expensive for the cave experience and it's quite an experience!

Richard Goebel

I love seeing the cave. So much to see. Formations are outstanding. And the guides are good and give lots of good information.

Jeff Breinholt

This is a great outing- just make sure to get your tickets online well in advance.

Adam Leader

Brand new. Great small shop with snacks books and water bottles. Short film. And tickets for the walk (but much better to book in advance). Bathrooms and spring-feed bottle fillers outside.

Andrew Cuevas

An absolutely beautiful cave & hike! Be warned: it's a semi-strenuous 1.5 mile hike to the entrance of the cave from the visitor center (you're given 1.5 hours to complete the hike, however, so if you're tour is for 1:00, you leave the visitor center at 1:00 and are expected to arrive for the actual tour at 2:30). Also, since the NM is located in a National Forest, most people are surprised by the approximately $6 fee to enter the forest that the park is in (the price is waived if you possess one of those NPS/BLM/National Forest Service annual passes) The hike is a gorgeous paved trail that gives you spectacular views of the canyon (see pics). There is a restroom just before the cave. Along the way there are rangers placed to ask you how you're doing, answer questions, and motivate you (the rangers that were there when I visited were spectacular people!) The actual cave tour is about an hour long, and you get to see three different cave systems connected via tunnel systems. Our guide ranger was incredibly knowledgeable and hilarious, calming the nerves of those that were nervous being in the cave. After the tour, guess what? You have to walk the 1.5 miles back down. But don't worry! What took our group approximately an hour to do uphill literally look less than 30 minutes downhill (much to the chagrin of our knees, if you have trekking poles I highly recommend them). Overall, I loved my time at Timpanogos Cave NM and highly recommend visiting!

Bryan Bean

Great scenic and fairly rigorous hike to the cave, amazing views on the way up. They put a restroom near the top, thankfully. The cave itself is a wonder worth seeing if in the area. It's all on a paved path, but there are a few places where one must duck and watch one's head. The guide you get makes a difference. Ours wasn't enunciating well, so I didn't catch some of the info. The photos don't do it justice.

Jordan Welch

Timp cave is such a fun adventure for anyone. The trail itself is paved nearly the entire way and the Rangers giving the tours at the top are so entertaining and knowledgeable about the area. If you are up for a little adventure close to home I highly recommend heading over to Timp Cave and spending an afternoon in a great landscape. Not to mention the hike up to the cave is absolutely beautiful with views of American Fork canyon!

Adrian Ferrar

Went with my gf and Mom. The hike to the cave was pretty hard, but definitely doable. Harrison, our cave guide, did a great job leading the group and explaining the historical and geological significance of it. Definitely a 5-star experience and we would certainly do it again!

Nathan May

The hike and cave tour was absolutely spectacular! The ranger was kind, informative, and kept the audience captivated. The trail is completely paved, but still steep. I would rank the hike itself as moderate. I would not recommend bringing large backpacks as they require you to wear them on your front side as soon as you enter the caves.

TheReal NarcodiK

Truly an amazing and rare opportunity to see and visit a place such as Timpanogos Cave! Don't leave this Earth without visit too this Cave!

Manny deras

This is a great place to take the family. I took my seven year old and she had no problems getting to the top. It is 1.5 miles to get to the top. It really only takes 45 minutes. It has some amazing views going up to the top. Keep moving when walking he striped lines in the pavement. The cave tour was wonderful. It wasn’t very long at all and not at all that cold either!

Michael George

This place is amazing. Visitors center was closed for the season but it was nice with no one there. Bring some snow shoes and a camera and go explore. Steep canyon mountains and stunning scenery. Well worth the trip.

Alicia Yarbrough

I loved this hike and tour was pretty amazing too. Or tour guide was very informative and friendly. Please, everyone use the bathroom before you go through the tour!! We did, but my daughter had to go again after the tour and its a ways back up the hill to hill again. You're legs will not be happy with you. Other than that, it's pretty amazing.

Jeff Hagen

Interesting cave formations worthwhile to see if you are in the area. There is a long climb of about one and a half miles one way up to the cave. But the walk is scenic . Definitely earlier is better for comfort. Admission price is reasonable. It is quite popular however and reservation should be made. The Aspen Loop also is another scenic bonus to the area.

amanda fay

Wow what a hike but So worth it! Trail Can be dangerous around steep cliff edges so its definitely wise to be extra cautious.

mark del Castillo

Park is nice. Website and visitor center information does not work. Called for information. Always directs you to the ranger who’s line just ends up in a dead end voice mail that is always full

Stephanie Bazan

Great hike!! Very steep so be prepared and grab some water. This hike is

Dani H

The caves are cool - literally. They are worth the steep climb. Bring water for the hike up. The guides are fun and friendly.

Kathy Jones

The scenery is beautiful. The hike is a challenge but worth it.

lisa smith

Majestic! The climb to this cave is well worth it.The scenery from every single angle is picturesque and breathtaking! We visited the cave early in the morning so the climb was cool and refreshing. We took our son's forearm crutches to help him make the climb and he did better than I did! The trek up the mountain is about an hour long to the cave. The tour guides were amazing and let us leave early so our son with disabilities had plenty of time to make it up the mountain for our scheduled tour. It was well worth the time and hard work to get there. I love that they have different rest areas along the way and educational markers along the way.

Carlos Regalado

Awesome place!

Swiss Utah

Real nice cave super close to the valley with a easy hike. Don’t forget to reserve a tour cause they fill up quick.

Tyler Wahlquist

Beautiful steep hike up to the cave entrance. Attended the intro to cave course offered once a day at 11am. 5 person limit. It was neat to learn a bit about caving and being down inside, though the length of where you are actually "caving" is only about 30 yards long. The overall distance you get to go was the only drawback.Very nice staff

Debbie Kunath

Amazing place to visit! Totally worth it if you can handle the long 1.5 mile hike uphill to get there. We took a 5- and 3-year old and it was tough but we made it.

Joe Clarke

The hike up to the cave is carved into the side of the moutian. Even though it is paved it is very steep and offers fantastic views. The caves are short but very cool. Would return for sure.

Highly decorated cave on par with the best caves in the United States. Open to the public only through led tours. It's a moderately short (under a mile) but very steep hike to cave entrance. If you aren't flexible on tour time make sure to get tickets in advance, especially on busy weekends.

Get ready for a hike!! It's paved and there are friendly signs along the way (1/4, 1/2, 3/4) to help encourage you and your party along the way. It's not that difficult of a hike, but the incline can leave you winded! The caves are truly incredible, and if you get a fun ranger they'll tell jokes and such as they give the tour (though honestly it's fun no matter who you get, the stories are amazing and the science behind the rarer formations, like helictites, are fascinating). You only need a light jacket for the cave, but it does make it more comfortable. Just know, if you have a backpack on (even a little Camelback), you have to turn it to the front over your stomach while in the cave so as to protect the formations while you are bending over and scooting around them.

When they say it's a strenuous hike, they mean strenuous. It's a mile and a half with a 1,092 foot vertical climb! It's uphill all the way, although there are rest stops with benches and great lookouts. It look us nearly 1.5 hours to get to the top. The hike was definitely worth it for the wonderful cave tour and amazing sites. Our tour guide was awesome. All my kids (ages 8-15) loved it.

The cave is not huge, but it is very pretty. The hike to it is gorgeous in the fall especially. Swinging Bridge picnic ground is very nice.

Bryan Espinoza

I was going to go up but the entire thing is closed for construction

Cindy Hodson

Beautiful, it is a steep incline tho. I suggest going in the morning this time of year. Well worth the effort. Take sunscreen and plenty of water. Snacks too.

Chad Groneman

Fantastic cave. Steep path to get there, and you need to twist and bend down to get under things in the cave. But it's good exercise and great views!

This place was really cool! Apparently it was recently renovated. The hike up to the cave is paved, but no joke. You can’t go up without tickets. We got tickets for the intro to caving which was in the non-paved section of the cave where we had to put on helmets and knee pads. It was a great experience and a nice taste of what it would be like. Next time I need to go through the normal section of the cave.

This is a beautiful hike, with amazing views. The cave is fun to see, and the guide was great at taking as through and sharing interesting facts and stories. This hike is steep!!! And there is a cliff along one side of the trail pretty much the entire time. I would not take young children. I took a 4&2yr olds. It was awful. We made it, but a lot of the time there is nothing keeping them from darting off the edge.

Charles Anderton

Such a good deal. Tickets are always sold out the day of so they need to be bought about a week in advance.

This is such a fun little National Monument. They have a small picnic area that you can hang out at and have lunch. The tickets are not always easy to get. But you can purchase them in advance online now which is great! Once the online tickets run out the rest are sold on first come first serve basis. The hike takes 45min - 1 hour for the average hiker. For some it may take longer. It is a little steep in some areas but there are plenty of places to rest and relax if needed. If you go in the mornings the hike is pleasant. Later on in the afternoon it can get very hot. The tour itself in the caves is pleasant and educational. Each tour guide has their own unique way of sharing the cave with the visitors. The cave consists of three caves that are connected by tunnels. Each Cave is different and worth visiting. The history of the caves are intriguing. So if you are looking for a beautiful hike both outside and inside a cave, this is the place to go! One more thing. This is not a great place to take children like babies or toddlers that are not easily controlled. The formations in the cave must not be touched. And the cave is dark and a bit cold. So it is not exactly a favorite location for super young kids.

Loved this hike and tour! Get your tickets online, choose an early time before the heat of the day, and bring water. My 8 yr child had no problem with the steep hike.

Killer cave awesome hike. Great tour guide.

Jon Butler

the caves are great ... take your time on the hike

Margit Mueller-Merkey

I was there to a time where you all three Caves could see. We was one hour in caves. .

Kolla Kolbeinsdottir

Incredible views before and during the cave tour. It’s a steep hike up, but on a paved trail. Take your time and enjoy the gorgeous views! Our cave guide Royce was a wealth of information and made it a great experience for old and young visitors. Highly recommend!

All the park rangers were kind, knowledgeable, and competent. The tour of the cave isn't to be missed. Be sure to book tickets ahead of time, especially on a weekend or holiday. Be aware the tour moves through some pretty tight hallways, and may not be for the claustrophobic, or anyone that has mobility issues. Also, I don't think kids under 3 would get much out of it. Touching features inside the cave is strictly prohibited, and it's pretty cold in there (about 50 degrees). Once they can really walk well and listen to instructions, they'll love it.

Matthew Brown

Always a good time. Great hike with great views. Can be kinda hot but the cool cave feels so nice! Great cave for all ages!

Jared Mefford

Love the hike up to the caves every time that I've been. The path is great for strollers and makes it easier to make it up for others as well.

Scott Hudson

I had no idea until I took my parents on this hike that getting the permits was or could be frustrating for some. There are tickets that are set aside each day for 'walk-in' tours. We decided the night before we wanted to go to the caves. We called when they opened in the morning, there were a total of 16 available tickets so getting 4 for the morning hike was quite easy. If you didn't know and have trouble getting tickets - just call ahead. After the hike we went and grilled. Fantastic time, exceptional ranger guide and experience.

Hunter Anderson

Beautiful fun hike that anyone and everyone should do. Has plenty of rest stops and bathrooms before you enter the actual cave. Would recommend for anyone

Mariana Anderson

The hike is steep! But the tour was beautiful, the stories were awesome and doing it again in two weeks!!! Nature is crazy awesome.

Kristina Abbey

What a great experience. The employees all very helpful and friendly sharing lots of information. The views are gorgeous on the hike to and from the cave (bring lots of water and a snack you'll need it.) The tour of the cave itself took about an hour and was just amazing. I highly recommend this stop.

Tom Hill

Wonderful experience.

Five stars. Very cool and awesome. Not a bad hike to the cave if you're in shape, but be prepared for a steep incline to the top. Inside the cave is cool and feels good after hiking in the summer heat. Cave is worth your time. Highly recommend.

Zach Flippo

Better experience than I ever could imagine, amazing, a have to.

Christopher Loch

Had a great time doing this with the family. I've been waiting until my youngest was 7 years old so that it would be enjoyable. I do not recommend bringing younger kids into the caves as there was a youngster in our tour group who was not enjoying himself. You don't want to be the parents of the kid who's crying in the cave and ruining it for everyone else.

Alaina Swartzlander

Beautiful hike to the amazing cave. Wonderful interpretive park ranger.

Paul Thorpe

If you like hiking it was good. The time in the cave was too short and rushed. The climb was nice with good vistas

Thor Simmer

Fun tour. Harrison was a great guide. I'm 6ft 240lbs and there were some tight spots. Be prepared to duck a few times if you're over like 5'9". Hike wasnt bad and I'm a sea level dweller.

David Miller

Fascinating look into a unique cave system. The cave is nice and cool - enough that you might need a jacket even if it's hot outside. Don't underestimate the hike up to the cave - it will take well over an hour especially if you have young kids, are old, or simply not in decent shape.
