If I could give zero stars I would. Asked to be contacted via email and they called me anyway, during my work hours. I told Elaine that I was at work and had already asked to be contacted via email. She said she would call me back later. I told her no and that I wanted to be contacted via email and she said she couldn't so I told her that I would use another agency and hung up. She promptly EMAILED ME and asked me for a ton of information that took me a half hour to type up for her. She didn't bother to mention to me in her first email that she'd be trying to financially blindside me the minute I had invested time into talking to her. She emailed me back and all she said to me was that she needed an $800 non-refundable deposit to start researching my trip. Ummm no way! She couldn't even tell me whether or not they could accommodate what I had asked for and wanted me to make a huge non-refundable financial commitment. Not going to happen. If she had even given me some sort of overview of whether they could accommodate my requests and an overview of the range of costs I might be looking at, then I might have been willing to put down a deposit. But why would I want to give my money to someone who is coming off sleazy, untrustworthy and incompetent? Totally stressed me out to the breaking point. You lost my business Columbus Travel, and I'm telling EVERYONE that you don't listen and that you don't communicate. And those are two of the most important components of booking a trip! This is why I avoid travel agencies. You don't care about me. You care about your bottom line.

If it was not for a group cruise which is why this company is who I have to go through I would have taken my business somewhere else A LONG TIME AGO. Calling my agent weekly to return calls, no returned calls. Asking for flight, drink packages, hotel recommendations, no calls back. When you finally get to a 'supervisor' you will get an apology and the grandest prize, someone else to deal with who is enthusiastic. They do not care about the needs of people attempting to book a happy time. I have yet after 4 months to even see a print out of the amount owing... seems suspicious, and to take credit card information, not charge the card and forget to call me back, worries me about just where exactly my credit card information is saved. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS!!!!

I would like to thank Elaine Winslow for being my travel agent for the past several years. She has always given me First class service and great deals on the vacations that I have booked. The packages that she has put together for me include a Cruise, an All Inclusive Beach vacation to Jamaica, a 2 week multi city tour of Italy and most recently a long weekend getaway to San Diego. We have worked with Elaine on 2 big family trips, both have gone very well. She was able to conduct all the travel schedules and connections for all our parties. Communication was best for us through email, though there were plenty of phone calls between all of the families she was working with just in our group. It's been a good experience for us even though I see others have had trouble we had some very successful trips and created great family memories through Elaine and Columbus travel. One cruise vacation all inclusive set up and one flights and car rental vacation for 20+ people.

Poorly planned they changed my hotel without consulting it with me and it was a couple miles away from Disneyland in garden grove CA there was no shuttle to pick us up from our hotel so this trip was planned poorly and I feel like the packedge was not great it was just uncomfortable , I personally will not be booking a trip with columbus travel again.

Columbus knows what they are doing, they will do everything in their power to make sure you have a great trip. We booked an Alaskan cruise with Columbus and had a great time. I was most impressed by how knowledgeable the Columbus staff were. Every question I could think of was answered as soon as I asked it, meaning they didn't have to research or "get back to me" because they already had the answers. It is that kind of expertise that makes a good travel agency great. Shout-out to Rayleen. She was extremely professional and very pleasant to work with.

The short version of my review: If customer service is important to you(which is why I used an agency), I would recommend looking for another travel agency. If you want to know why I rated it low, please read below. I was recommended to Columbus Travel by a friend. Though I was happy for the information that was given about our planned trip, the customer service really was terrible. I called to get a quote and they said they would email it to me after talking to them for 40 minutes. They never emailed me the quote. So I called the next day and the representative told me that it failed to send. But then she tried again and it magically worked. She didn't ask for a different email or anything. So I couldn't believe that the email failed to send the first time. Then after being on the phone with her again the quotes were all for the wrong days. So I did the research on their website. It is a really nice and user friendly website. So I planned the trip I wanted on the website, but I had a couple of questions so I called back to the agent that had been helping me. After talking to her for 45 minutes, I realized she didn't know the answers to the questions I had. So I decided to book the trip, she sent me over a final quote and said she would call me back after 1pm, once she looked to see if she could get a better price on an attraction we wanted to do. By 4:30 I still had not heard anything, so I called back. She apologized and said she still had not looked into it yet. Thankfully I had and learned I could get a better price by buying it directly myself. As I was paying for the trip, the agent informed me that the next business day there was going to be a promotion to save $100 dollars. She promised me that she would do all she could to "beg" to get the $100 dollars applied to my purchase. She promised me that she would call me back the next business day. And as you can probably guess, she never did. So 3 business days after I made the purchase, I called back to try to get my $100 dollars. She didn't answer so I left a message. I received a call back informing me that she was sorry she hadn't gotten back to me. And that it was on her list of things to do that day and unfortunately she couldn't get the $100 back. I'm sure we'll be happy with our vacation, but the customer service was absolutely horrendous. If customer service is important to you(which is why I used an agency), I would recommend looking for another travel agency.

This is the first time that my wife and I used a travel agency to assist us in a vacation. We will most certainly use Columbus Travel in the future. Thanks to Kathy Pickett of Columbus Travel our vacation was the best ever! Kathy provided us with EXCEPTIONAL service as we planned our trip. My wife had a ski accident and required a change in seating on our flights. Kathy was so pleasant and positive as we worked to make this trip a reality in spite of our obstacles. Jane would send us reminders to complete forms we needed to get done. She updated us on any info and opportunities, and she responded in a timely manner. When the airline changed our return flight on us, she even did her best to prevent us from having a long layover and then managed to do our early check in at the airport for us!!! Offered me a hotel and airfare package that I liked but once I paid for it, the hotels were no longer available and the replacement they offered was double the first hotel. I found and booked my own hotels and requested they change my flight to get me into a closer airport. They charged my card over $900 without my permission to make the change. Once I found that out I said to leave my flights alone and I'll work with the hotel to get me from the wrong airport. They have only refunded $750 of the $900 they were not authorized to charge and the worst of it was, they even canceled the flight I was trying to change and kept all the money making me rent a car to drive the 200 miles my flight would have saved me. STAY AWAY!

Terrible experience. Exhausting to work with. I don't know if they're just that bad or I was just too small a deal to take their time on. I emailed multiple times with no response from Judy and I constantly had to send reminder emails (was hard not to lose your patience) They didn't pay attention to details in my emails and would send wrong itinerary and when I wanted to add an additional stop, which I agree I added after the fact, they got mad saying "I do charge for my time" which I thought was really unprofessional. I would have been fine paying for her time but how she handled it was terrible. Randomly I was telling someone about this without saying the name of the place and they said, "it's Columbus Travel isn't it?" They had a similar experience as well. I never leave reviews but had such a bad experience. I called another group and they got me the correct info back under 24 hours and I booked the trip. (I'm sure i'll get some comment back from them below that will blame everything on me and that I was in the fault based on past bad reviews but guys seriously your processes need to be looked at)

We had a family of 10 traveling. I did not understand that Columbus travel is an agent for Funjet vacations or I would never have used them. When our flight was cancelled because of weather I waited on the phone for a very long time (45 minutes) to get the flight rebooked. I ended up having to wait in line at the ticket counter because the agency couldn't make changes in a satisfactory manner. If had just called United on the phone directly I would not have had a problem rebooking. As it was we ended up having to fly into a different airport, rent cars that cost more than double the amount I had paid through Columbus (they could not transfer the car rental or even help us find another car) I used a travel agent because I thought it would be less stressful for me boy was I wrong. Just talked with Judy and she offered me a coupon for future travel.

Their was a miscommunication about complimentary breakfast at the hotel but the travel agency paid for it with no questions ask. This is the first time I ever used a travel agent. I always assumed I can do this on my own and I did. Going forward, when planning a trip, John will be my first phone call. I read some of the negative reviews. I will say, not every phone call was bubble gum and unicorns, but, net/net, absolutely - I am a believer!

How is this for spontaneous. On Friday June 17, 2016 at 4:30 PM I decide to take my 16 year old son to Costa Rica for some father son bonding time. On Saturday June 18, 2016 at midnight we are on a plane. I just had a feeling like I needed to spend some time with my son and I usually listen to those feelings. Mom was headed to girl’s camp and my other son was leaving to scout camp. So the boys and I took a trip. The boys are Eli my son, Eli’s grandfather and my brother Keith. Who do you call to make a trip like this possible? No plans just some time and a feeling. I called Columbus Travel and spoke with Mark Faldmo one of the owners. Within a few hours we had our six day trip planned. In the past I’ve taken trips with Columbus travel and they have always taken care of me. So I knew I could trust them. The people at Columbus suggest that before you leave on your trip that you lay out all your clothes on your bed that you plan to take and then lay out all the money you plan to take on the bed. Then they recommend you take only a third of the clothes you have on your bed and double the money you plan to take. Great advice, it works. When we landed in Costa Rica, Mark from Columbus Travel had a guide and a driver waiting for us at the airport. I’ve always heard that your accommodations and the food can make or break a trip. Well the places we stayed at were fantastic and the guide took us to eat some great food where the locals eat. This made the trip a success. There is no question in my mind that if I had to find our way around Costa Rica on our own it wouldn’t have been a success. The guys at Columbus are the experts, I’m not. Swimming in a hot spring under a live volcano that was blowing out smoke, a two hour zip line through the jungle, fishing on the coast, an ATV ride in the jungle of Costa Rica and watching a TV show with my son in our hotel room was the best. Now could we make it home before Mom gets home from girls camp. Well we almost made it home in time. I am lucky to be married to a forgiving wife. Buy the memory, be spontaneous, take a trip of a life time, you will have a blast, just remember to call Mark at Columbus Travel. Thanks Mark, you made it all happen. A trip of a life time for me and the boys.

My wife and I worked with Linda Wangsgaard to put together our honeymoon package (to Cabo) and everything was perfect!! Having the Amstar transportation to/from the hotel was super convenient. We ended up using Amstar for our excursions while we were in Cabo (Pacific Dinner Cruise and Ziplining at Wild Canyon) and they did a fantastic job getting us around. We'd highly recommend them for getting around Cabo! Last but not least, the Secrets resort was very nice. With it being on the other side of Cabo (San Josè Del Cabo), we both got to see a new part of Cabo we hadn't seen before while enjoying a more relaxed adult crowd with no kids. Couldn't thank Columbus Travel enough for putting together our special week!
