Houston hotels and motels historically have a very strict rating system. There are many 3-roach hotels, but there are also four- and five-roach arrangements, which are easy to find. Those are not amongst the highest retted. It is easiest to spot 8-, 9- and 10-roach motels, and that's just the beginning. The roach rating of motels has no upper limit and can indefinitely go up in Houston. The rating system is based on the number of roaches you can spot right of the bat, when you enter the room. The same rating could be applied to the restaurants as well. There are three-, four-, and five-roach restaurants. But the rating is based on the number of roaches you are most likely to consume in your entree and dessert during your meal. You may come across a two-roach restaurant, but easily receive a five- to ten-roach service. Although many restaurants practice an alternative rating system, according to which you can find as many as 4- and 5-fly restaurants. Fly-centered rating system is based on the same principle, which is how many insects you will consume with your meal in one setting, but may vary from one cuisine to another and some restaurants may receive higher seasonal ratings during the summer months. The fly rating system excludes desserts because that would unfairly advantage those restaurants, which do not have the adequate fly rating for the rest of their entrees. Fly rating may also unfairly advantage chains that carry desserts only, which will distort the overall picture and mislead the potential customer.
