Enjoy learning about the locotalagtites! Beautiful tour and a true unexpected masterpiece of nature.

Clairice Johnson

I'm so glad I didn't miss this opportunity to see a unique, mysterious natural wounder. The tour guide ( girl) was sweet, patient, and very knowledgeable. I really enjoy this experience.

Anthony Monico

An amazing place and great tour guides!! I took my son down here for the first time and he loved it!! Keep up the great work!!

Shaun Hawk

Great experience, I've been twice over the years and absolutely love this place.

Pedro Perez

It's great you need to see in person

Preeti Natarajan

Caverns of Sonora is amazing! Must visit if you want a real cave experience. The formations are very different and beautiful. I'm surely visiting again to do the adventure tour!

Mary Goodman

What a peaceful and happy place. Pull throughs with electric 50 amp no dump. Very QUIET!! Friendly folks in visitor center. No WiFi limited cell coverage. Didn't use showers. Off Hwy a short hop but we'll worth it. We are a class A towing a car. $25 night. First come first to get your spot. Didn't go in caves but photos looked awesome. Plenty of hiking.

Davejax C

Cavern tour was Awesome! Stayed a night in RV park with 40ft 5th wheel, a little tight but worked well. Awesome place to visit!

Corina Gonzalez

Nice would recommend must see

Paul Wright

Wonderful cavern experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and took time to explain the many formations.

Candace Boney

Very beautiful cave great lighting an awesome experience. They offer guided tours only that last 1-2 hours. About 20$ per person well worth it in my opinion.

Greg Giese

The best caverns of all I have seen. If you are in the area this is a MUST SEE (especially because there is little else to see in this part of TX). The guides are enthusiastic and fun. Quite knowledgeable also. AGAIN, the caverns are amazing!! There is a small Campground for RVs and a very nice tent camping area.

Denise Arango

A beautiful Virtual Tour ended in the most sadly experience for my family. We traveled with the best intentions to introduced our kids with natural wonders. Rules are strictly Ridiculously enforced, we understand and respect the rules. We were kicked out from the cavern after my daughter was posing for a picture ( not touching anything). We were just a few steps back from the line. In a very Unprofessional and rude tone of voice, the guide told us to LEAVE. We exited the caverns shocked of his way of treatment as it was I humane and unkind. The guider threatens us ( the adults) to take us to jail infront of my children (3 and 6 years old). We asked to speak to the owner and the owner has no comment about it. I tried to make send if his behavior, why so violent? I request video prof in order to validate my daughter’s behavior- they refused. The guider began using profane language and again threatening us with the sheriff. We kindly offered an exchange of word, but it very difficult to dialogue with someone who has no Professionalism, work ethicate, and ZERO Children Tolerance. Sadly, the cavern is just interested in making business!!! Making money, STOP allowing children, it’s inevitable to NOT make footprint when You are allowing visitors in ( especially children). parents!!! Avoid this place... Take your travel fun somewhere else! Because we were treated like animals, yelled at, screamed at, cursed infront of my children. This is not how HuMANs should treat other humans... Never again! This is a ZeRO star review!!! Doesn’t deserve 1 star

Taylor Made

This is literally the best cave i have ever visited! The most beautiful, most active and the tour guide was super knowledgeable. This cave actually so nice and well maintained that I kinda wish it was closed off to the public. Someone already destroyed the butterfly wing years ago. Humans typically do nothing but ruin natural beauty.

Melissa Mercado

Excellent cavern experience. Clean restrooms. Family owned. No restaurant...only microwave food only and their microwave is not working right.

Tevikolady .

Absolutely loved this place!! Such beautiful formations, and sights to behold. Be prepared for quite the hike.

Bill Miller

If you have the time while driving to San Antonio stop at the caverns it takes a couple of hours to take the tour cost twenty bucks a piece but it's well worth it it's a different cave than you've ever seen before

Jack Dennis

Top notch and beautiful caverns. Movie 'Time Trap' was filmed in there.

Ben pitts

Absolutely amazing. Best caverns I have ever been too. Stunning

david Alcorn

My husband went in. Im unable to walk stairs. Nice young man offered me 2 full books of photo shots to look at! ❤ I stayed up on porch and in shop. My husband said caverns were phenomenal.

Google User

Great place to visit. BRING lots of water.

stacy baker

This cavern is so beautiful

anthony brangham

Must see to appreciate it's TRUE beauty. Amazing tour guide with a true NEC to handle the public.

David Lewis

We were short on time and did not do the cavern. If you are looking to camp and desire a pull through call ahead. Pull thru spots are limited 5? And are very tight. They have a unique gift shop and the entire staff was wonderful. The overall site could use some TLC. Also it is a out 11 miles off the interstate

Blessing Carnes

Awesomeness! 150 feet down with huge stalegmite and 90 percent alive. Beautiful clear pools too. Definitely a bucket list if you're into natural wonders.

Terri Carpenter

Amazing cave, worth going! Be sure to dress cool, it gets a bit toasty in the belly of the cave. And they have a great gift shop!

Mia Jerry

This was a place to remember the cave itself and the history behind it makes it worth the time and money spent the tour itself is about an hour and 30 minutes in and around the campsite you'll see animals like birds and deer roaming around. The prices are reasonable and the gift shop had lots of gifts and items to take home. I would come again to camp out here as well.

Diggergirl

This is the most beautiful cavern I've ever visited. Carlsbad should be jealous. Camping is a but of a trip, as it's essentially a parking lot, but lots of deer are present for entertainment.

Stephen Graham

Very interesting. Well worth stopping. Interesting and informative guides.

Susan Terrell Adams

The cavern tour is great. We camped there in our 5th wheel for one night. I believe it costed us $15. There was only water and electric. No sewer. The gift shop has some really cool things (pricey). We went on the cavern tour for our second wedding anniversary. The park is very quiet. There were deer, rabbits and birds everywhere. A very serene place.

Cathy Howes

The staff is very friendly and full of information! The cave was beautiful!!

Robert Hatcher

Some of the best caverns I have ever been in.

Rebecca Johnson

The caves were amazing! We went on a guided tour, the tour guide gave us a lot of fun history on the caves and took us to see some great sights. I would definitely go back! It is very humid in the caves though so be prepared to sweat!

Adam Pease

Guided tours through the caverns are absolutely stunning. Cave passages are well lit and mostly easy to walk through for average height people. The tour guides are knowledgeable and considerate for us people who like to take pictures. The gift shop/ticket center is full of beautiful stone carvings and rare gems and geodes. The caverns themselves are remarkable, so many formations overlapping one another, visible fault lines, gypsum, and calcite. Toward the end of the tour there is a room where you walk through the inside of a geode. Easy to find RV park off 277. The fudge in the gift shop is addicting.

George S.

Awesome! Must see. Gave only 4 stars because with 12 people on the tour, there were sections we were not taken. I also felt rushed. Tour groups need to be limited to 6 people max.

Pyrolf !

Beautiful place and great tours. A wide selection gift soft with many souvenirs for loved ones or yourself. Absolutely stunning formations and have a shortcut around the beginning of the tour if you are feeling sick or nervous or it hurts to walk.

edward toomey

So cool! One of the most, if not The most... Spectacular cave I have ever been to.

Jazmine Ringo

Tour was a little to quick for my liking.

Melia Blackwood

Cavern had different formations then I've seen in other caves. Tour Guide Bob was very friendly and the place has a great gift shop.

Kristi Brookshire

Well worth doing! Tour was small group and amazing! Campground was nice and quiet and reasonable. Highly recommend arriving in the daylight especially big rigs... a few tight corners with posts near the ground. Also No sewer or dump so just be prepared . Didn’t venture into bathroom due someone hit a post and broke a water line. Thankful to have had water in tank as there was no water.

nancy turbyfill

This review is for the campground, we were only able to stay one night and had to leave early the next morning and so regretfully did not get to do the cavern tour! But I wanted to be sure and leave a review for fellow campers, as it isn’t entirely clear from Google Map searching that this lovely gem of a park is also a campground! We had a delightful stay, the road back to the campground was paved, and then gravel for the campground itself, which was level and well-maintained. Easy hook-ups, nicely sized sites, and lovely hill country surroundings! We loved watching the deer at sunset, and enjoyed a walk through the grounds. Highly recommend as a stay over, or multi-day stay!

Emily Sabin

Best cave tour I have ever been on! Our guide was very knowledgeable and we learnt a lot about the history of the caves and surrounding geology. A great 1.5 hour tour -- do wear light clothing as the caves are warm!

Kimberly Fernandes

Beautiful caves, small group size, staff personable. RV pull through spots are close together, but fine for a quick overnight stay. Cost us $25 for the night, which included electric and water. Tickets for the tour $20/each adult, $16/each kid. The gift shop was neat, and relatively affordable. There's a $10 bag of sand/stones, which is lots of fun for the kids to mine through. Deer frequent the grounds, as they feed them daily. Lots of space for kids to run and play.

Julian Laredo

The best Caverns I've been to yet. The formations are beautiful!

Chen Li

We had a strange experience. The lady at the ticket counter had a strong attitude and explained: no backpack, no lady's purse, no wallet, no flashlight, no nothing in the cavern. She points to a poster on the wall, citing Texas law and fire marshal order. I read it, it only says don't damage anything. Apparently we are not welcome to visit here, thus we left.

Laurie McCarty

Great experience. Good workout and beautiful sights to see.

Lesley Shelton

Off the beaten trail, but worth the drive. Please be respectful of the natural beauty so that generations to come will be able to enjoy this beautiful and wonderful cave!

Stacey Dukes

Wonderful experience! Be prepared to walk A LOT! This cave is very, very warm so be prepared. Lots of steps. Our tour lasted 2 hours!

AV Yru

I wished I would of spent a little more time here...but I think Oreo enjoyed going inside the store there. Very friendly staff...

Allee Woodwell

We had a great time in the caverns. It’s much different than Carlsbad Caverns which made me hesitant but I carried my 2.5 yr old in my Tula (has to be carried in your front unfortunately) and my 5 and 10 yr old did great. Sutton, our tour guide was friendly and fairly insightful. I’m glad we finally came to check them out. The warm temps and humidity were intimidating but it really wasn’t that bad. It was semi-difficult to walk up the many stairs at the end with the extra 40 pounds I was carrying but the rest was nice and easy!

Tee F Kay

These beautiful live caverns are worth the trip. Usually this place is not crowded, so you even may catch a tour to the very bottom of the caverns. I love the constantly differing caves and have to say that the entire caverns are very well taken care of. There once was one idiot ... but well - you will hear the story on your tour.

James Connolly

Such a great place, such beautiful natural formations.

Emma Sturgeon

Really enjoyable and a good price. Caverns are warm so make sure you dress light. Guide was knowledgeable and funny. Only taking small supervised groups means that the caves are protected and have not become discolored. Nice gift shop with swallows and hummingbirds outside.

Jeff Reichert

The manager is completely disorganized and a jerk. If you're not from the town or he knows your relative or you're a good-looking woman he's a complete jerk to you. I'm sure the caves are nice but I never got to see them and I wouldn't recommend going there.

Amanda Turbyfill

We probably shouldn't of taken our 4 month old son, but our 2.5 year old daughter had a great time walking through the caves. We carried her down/up a few of the wetter flights of stairs, but otherwise she did well. A very magical place. If we go again, we might try to make a private booking, rather than a public tour so we could have a little more time to look around and not feel like we're slowing the group down. The folks who discovered and explored these caves with only headlamps years ago are awe inspiring. We also camped our Sprinter van in the tent camping sites, that have water and electric hookups. Good price, clean site. One of the cleaner showers/restrooms I've seen in awhile at a camp site. Oh, and very delicious fudge!

Lucinda Culver

One of the coolest caves I’ve been to! Our tour guide was Chris, and he did a fantastic job answering questions and pointing out the different formations. It’s a lot of steps and it’s very CO2 heavy so get ready for a work out and lots of humidity. We did have to wait about an hour before our tour began because it was busy, but the gift shop was nice and there was lots of wildlife to look at. It’s an awesome cave and I highly recommend the trip!

marisol suarez

You get walk so close to the caverns!

Kurt Christian

This was the most amazing cave and tour guide (college engineering student). Ive been to a dozen caves and this was BY FAR the best ever! So many crystals and formations, and our guide was extremely knowledable. Do this tour! I'd give it a 6 if I could!

Vangie Vannest

It's a beautiful place, definitely dress in cool, light clothing as it's hot and humid.

Natasha Arteaga

Horrible experience. Would not recommend, staff is very rude and incompetent. Would give 0 stars if I could. Safe your time and money and go to another place!

Ekta Escovar

A lesser known gem of a place! Very well maintained, lovely tours, and beautiful location! Tours are not scheduled, but rather depart once enough people are signed up for the 'next available' tour. Tour takes little less than 2 hrs, so give yourself a total of 3 hours (you'll spend 15-45min in the visitor center until enough people gather for a tour). Don't skip or drive by this place again without stopping!

Melissa Shepherd

The caverns are beautiful. Get there early because the tours fill up fast. We camped for 2 nights. Very clean bathrooms with showers. Small grill and table at camp site. Staff very friendly. The have ice there and some snack foods in the gift shop. Great weekend with the kids.

Devi Prasad

Most beautiful active cave systems I have ever seen. Other one will be Natural Bridge Caverns. Enjoyed watching deers, peacocks, birds, & the cave.

John Anthony Reyna

My grandchildren from Ohio loved it... it was worth the break taking a trip from San Antonio to Alpine & to McDonnell Douglas observatory! If you want to see pictures, go to Google and see everything... It's awesome inside in person!

Amanda Holt

The people were very friendly and the cave was amazing. For Children 10 and under I would as a mom not recommend this as a trip. No touching and the climb is no joke.

Sukumar shah

This is place on the way from San Antonio to Big Bend National Park. On the way we have seen the board & entered. It may be amazing cave to visit but due to lack of time & they operate fixed time guided tour we could not visit place. I have strong wish to visit. The shop is good & get good sweets “Fudge “ here. Surprised to see some insects for eating & candies with insects (do not have idea whether for eating or shows). Good & ample place around. Peacocks are around

Reed Leverton

We spent one night and had a great time on the property and really enjoyed the caverns. Very nice people and well-informed guide... Water and 30/50/110 hookups but no sewer since the park is above the caverns. Men's room shower could use some work but not really an issue. We will stay again.

George Thomas

One massive cavern. Really enjoyed the entire tour. Worth the diversion in the route to get here.

Deep Sky Dude

The caverns are beautiful and worth the trip! I've visited this cave countless times and have always had a great experience, minus the last time I went. They threw our group of three into a tour that had already started so the tour had to wait for us to be guided in. We had to skip a good portion of the cave just to catch up. Once in, our tour guide was the absolute worst. I believe her name was Patty. She rushed us through the cave and was extremely rude to several members of the tour and failed to point out many features of the cave that it is known for. She was disrespectful to an elderly couple that were a little bit slower and had trouble keeping up. She kept referring to the cave as "her's" and when someone would ask a question, she acted as if it was an inconvenience and gave an abbreviated answer exposing her lack of knowledge. She was unfriendly, crass and her knowledge of the cave was laughable. Avoid her at all costs. I visit this cave a couple times a year and literally EVERY other tour guide is pleasant, knowledgeable and fun. Patty was horrible and one you should avoid. All that said, if you catch one of the many other tour guides who are friendly and knowledgeable, the caverns are well worth the stop.

William Tor

Being from the southern Appalachians, I've been in a number of Caverns. There are 3 Caverns I've toured that are a must see for guided Cavern Tour enthusiasts and well worth the ticket price. Number 1: Oregon Caves State Park, due to its shear size and magnificent formations. Give you an idea of size, we went underground with your #12 for the day, mid-June, passed one other group and saw 4 other groups across their great room and on exiting, Tour#75, was going in. #2: Caverns of Sonora, another shear interior size, HUGE! No tour groups passed by each other. Tour was over an hour long and you'll thank the paths and bridges builders through this expansive cavern for planning and building with making the man made structures fit into this space. #3: Karshner Caverns, Southeast of Tucson, all parts in sections with a spray mist at the front entrance to 2 sides, 2 tours, to help keep the lint and human hair on you and not on the formations (a big problem in Carlsbad Caverns) Karshner is a living cavern therefore, its interior is very warm. Natural lighting kept to a minimum to not encourage Algie growing in cavern chambers. Hope that helps and you go see many caverns including, Caverns of Sonora.

Turtle Rocks

I have experienced a lot of different Caverns on the tourist Trail. But I must say in all I have ever seen including Carlsbad Caverns and Mammoth Cave . None have compared to the Caverns of Sonora. What extraordinary beautiful formations are to be seen. It is beyond belief. Your guide is overwhelmingly informative. Anything you need to know above or below ground they are more than willing to share their knowledge with you. They have and unique store for you to purchase many different items from around the world. Items are sold at a very reasonable price. Just keep your hands off what I'm looking for. I cannot wait to go back. I've been there twice. And every time I'm going to be in that area I'll make it a point that I will be stopping there. Go Learn Share. You will be amazed!

Larry Imberman

A gem of a cave, guide was superb, group of 5 guests.

Ashley m

It was a lot of fun. I would recommend coming here for a day adventure. When they say it is warm, it is warm. It also hard to breathe down there. It's wet. They have a camping ground there as well. The tree coverage is good. The staff is great. Gift shop. I would recommend putting a small restaurant out there. Maybe have horse trails. Even with out those ideas, this place is surprisingly neat. Gives you another outlook on life kinda.

JOSHUA SMITH

We were on a long trip heading to Corpus Christi and couldnt find anywhere to stop for the night. It was getting late we found Caverns of Sorna on google maps and am i glad we did. We pulled up, they told us to just set up on one of the loops and " we could settle up in the morning" clean bathrooms and showers, freindly staff, amazing wildlife give this a 5 star rating in my book.

Jeff Wrinkle

2 hour guided tour. Cavern is very warm and humid. There are really unique formations I have never seen in other caverns. The wedding room and the crystal room are incredible!!

Macias on the Map

We have been to many cave systems throughout the U.S. and Mexico. The Caverns of Sonora was by far the best we have seen with the best price for what you get! Well worth the drive!

C*** S***

Didn't get a chance to go into the caverns however, the RV park was very nice. Water and electric hookups only. Would recommend

I’m a chicken .

WHERES THE NEAREST CHUCKY CHEESES

Florencia Iturri

The caverns were very cool and beautiful. Our guide was entertaining and very helpful. The tour takes about an hour and it is the perfect way to break up a road trip. Highly recommend!

Stacy Lewis

Wonderful guide, great experience! My mother is 83 and we went through the Caverns, slower than the others, but it was friendly for her

Christina Calderon

Absolutely the most beautiful natural cave experience EVER! Large family split into two groups spent hours exploring and taking photos! Memories that will last lifetime. Spectacular for whole family!

Adam H

Wonderful open large caverns with very interesting geological formations. When entering a cavern chamber it is often a luxury to be able to stand. That said, this cave is very luxurious! The cave system is very open and easy to travel through. The guides are friendly and enjoy being asked questions. Wonderful preserved ecosystem and experience. Family friendly with a lot to see.

Alli Rushing

This was a fun and afforable adventure. Located away from the highway. Area is very open. We went on a Tuesday morning and it was pretty empty; only 6 ppl in the tour. Restrooms on site. There are peacocks and other birds walking around the area freely. Our tour guide was friendly and made the experience comfortable. This was a long tour and worth the money; you will be amazed at the various formations and passages. Took about 2 hours to complete. It was humid (wore shorts and tshirt). You are not allowed to touch anything (this is to preserve the caverns). We also got to experience the cavern in total darkness. There are no bats inside the caverns. Tips: make a reservation, dress for a warm walk, wear good shoes (areas can be slippery), bring a camera/phone for pictures, be prepared for a long walk and stairs.

Debra Sanchez

I was expecting a better visiting place than Carlsbad Caverns, I will not visit again or recommend.

Heather Miller

The caverns were amazing! Our tour guide, Betsy, was awesome!

Keren shen

An amazing place to visit. We took the tour with Juan and enjoyed it very much!!! Beautiful cave with 3 different not activity zones, so different things to see along the way. Nothing is allowed inside the cave besides cameras. Wear light long sleeve shirt or a tshirt. The tour is about 1.5 hrs. Nice gift shop .

Cori Hall

Very extensive tour!! Lots of fun!

Lisa Dodd

Good tour guide. He moved at a good pace for group and was knowledgeable about thr caverns. Was warm and humid inside, which we were told before we went in. I would recomend booking in advance to avoid a waite for tour as the are limited on number.

John Mes

A 'living' cavern? So cool! Our tour guide (C.) made it interesting with humour, anecdotes, history, and science. The small group size made for a more personal experience. Highly recommended.

Maria Arango

We were just there. They have the worst costumer service! First they let little ones go in and we are not allowed to touch anything ( which we understand that because we have been in many caverns before) Our 3 year old was not touching anything she was just off the cement path when we got kicked out of the cavern . Our guide was very rude and was very arrogant using profane language in front of the children. There are other caverns worth seeing like natural bridge caverns and Carlsbad caverns. Sonora caverns( what we got to see) was definitely not worth the trip. We left with the impression of being very racists since we are Latinos.

Debbi Alexander

Fabulous site. Great for the family.

Bella Faith

Very neat and incredible natural wonder!

Myrdon Corrino

Really worth visiting. Just be warned that it's lots of stairs and it's very warm and humid in the caverns. Also, because of the vulnerability of the caverns, they only let in small groups with a guide. So phone ahead or you might have a long wait.

Sara King

Caverns of Sonora has very many special memories not only for me, but as well as my family. My father originally had taken me to the caverns in 1987. At 14 the caverns were absolutely magical. It is a trip that stayed with me all my life. I knew I would take my children, just as my father had taken me. In 2016, on Valentine's Day, my daughter was able to experience the magic of Sonora as well. I know we will be back! I would also like to add that our guide Rita, is phenomenal. With a small group, the tour is not only a lesson but, a joy. My daughter was the only child with our group, and she engaged her mind the entire tour. For that I am grateful. I can't wait to return.

Taylor Carson

Loved the place tour guide was cool real humid in the caves

Chris LeJeune

Very nice caverns, friendly guide, peacocks roaming the grounds. Was great halfway stop on our way to West TX.

Filma Tets

They have a free roaming peacock (awesome!). The cave system was absolutely breathtaking. The gift shop was very reasonably priced and had so many cool little finds. Plus, home made fudge in a gazillion different flavors. All the staff was friendly and helpful as well. I would give more stars if I could!

Alex Mueller

Awesome natural wonder, fun experience and friendly and knowledgeable staff. A perfect place to stop on a long road trip or day trip destination. The engaging tour and fascinating sights make the time fly by. It feels like a 20 min stroll around the block and not the 1.5 hr, 1.5 mile hike it really is. Tour will pause for anyone needing a break along the way. Easy for kids, our 4 year old had no trouble keeping up. Tall or large people may have to contort a little bit to avoid damaging the formations (or themselves), but there was a 6'7" gentleman on our tour who made it through without a scratch. It's not a cold cave, but don't let the humidity scare you, either. It's an interesting sensation. You'll definitely work up a sweat, but you don't feel hot at all. But if tight spaces and humidity aren't your thing, there's an opportunity to change your mind pretty early in. I doubt you'll need it, though, there are plenty of opportunities to catch your breath and rooms are pretty spacious like the Batcave. For photographers there's a special tour that allows tripods, but the rooms are pretty well lit for handheld shots.

Chris Gallegos

The drive here from I10 is very nice. The outer area is very relaxing. There is a feeder near the parking lot where birds and squirrels are eating. The main area has some touristy gifts, stones, and other items for sale. The tour itself was really good. The guide, I think her name was Jayson (sp?). She was very knowledgeable. The whole tour took about two hours. I didn't think it was very physically demanding, but some small kids got tired quick. I will be coming back if I am ever I. This area again.

Brandi Hatcher

Absolutely amazing!! Lots of walking and climbing stairs underground. It’s not a cold cave. Its very humid and warm. We loved our tour. I hope to visit again someday.

Belks

Amazing place to visit. Really enjoyed it.

Cindy Blue

What an amazing cave! It's still 90% active and very beautiful. The one and a half hour to is quite informative. We had Rita as a guide and she was splendid! The RV park (and camping) is quiet and nice also.

Stephen White

Caverns were beautiful people were friendly but beware of quality inn motel they will double charge your credit card

Jason Kolacinski

We stopped by on our way from Las Cruces to San Antonio and glad we did. Pics dont do this cavern justice. We have only been to a few caverns and this one is by far our favorite. Loved being in a small tour group, our guide was great! Would highly recommend this cavern and campground. We stayed in an RV spot on site overnight. The fee per night is $25 which includes electricity and water.

Patty Gray

Wonderful expierence! Its worth every dime. Great gift shop.

Julia Richards

We visited here as a break while driving from Big Bend to Austin and it was well worth the stop! My eight year old said it was her favorite part of our weeklong trip. They told us it is a warm cavern so we didn't need jackets, but I wasn't really prepared for what that meant... I was wearing jeans with a thin long sleeved shirt, and I was sweating at times! Of course, I did have to carry my two year dime of the time, but still, I wouldn't wear jeans. We did just the basic tour (again, because of the toddler), but we would love to go back for one of the wild tours that our guide discussed. They have a great gift shop and the kids loved the peacocks out back.

Jim Slim

The Caverns of Sonora were absolutely awesome. I was expecting a small cave with a few cool formations, but this cave was massive with many different formations. The tour took about 2 hours. It was well worth the $20 I would definitely go again.

Debbie Miller

The first time I've been in a cave ever. And it was a beautiful experience. The tour guide was so helpful with information. Can't remember his name but he had a noise ring. Very kind.

Ciaran Brooks

The most spectacular cave structure I have ever visited. Great tour.

Mommy With Four

Really nice employees and we stayed with our 41ft 5th wheel here with hookup for only $25.

Ailene Markham

The caverns are beautiful, the staff is so friendly, the homemade fudge is unbelievable, and the campground has level, pull through sites. What more could you ask for? Easy to find, right off of I-10. It's definitely worth taking the time to stop in.

Matt Jackson

This is a very cool place to stop if you're on I-10 and need a place to rest where you can camp for the night. Check it out it's a family-friendly place

Bailey Truitt

It was a lot of fun. The only issue I had was coming up the five flights of stairs to get out of the caverns. But overall would definetly do again.

April Liedtke

The caverns were amazing! Our guide was great! There was beauty everywhere you looked!

Phoebe Zou

The cave system is beautiful and the natural pool is fantastic. They have about what I think the best cave system in the whole nation. I would recommend everyone to go there and enjoy.

Bonnie Berry

Be prepared for a "warmer" than usual cave. It's humid but still cool. Amazingly beautiful.

Royce Cole

Great cavern, medium grade, 360 steps but not all at once. Knowledgeable staff members.

Raul Flores

The best adventure with a very knowledgeable guide I am going back to this place also the peacocks are gorgeous just walking around

Cx O

Guide was well informed and didn't rush through the tour. Beautiful formations, including rare fishtail stalagtites and the only know butterfly formation in the world.

Don Bell

Loved it!! Unscheduled stop, well worth it. Went for low cost $25 camping with water/elec. Great staff. Great gift shop. $40 for tour for 2 ppl. Loved that there is no set checkout time for camping. Very quiet, slept in, woke up to sunshine and wildlife right outside my door. Deer roam free on the property. Would definitely recommend, would definitely come again.

DeWayne Nelson

Very nice cave. Camp ground adjacent if you want to stay overnight.

Steven Garcia

I'm first time visit Caverns of Sonora . It's so beautiful caves. We are from Albuquerque N.M. thanks for tour show us.

Myrtle Rasnake

Great place to visit! Nice caverns! They should hire a professional guide that knows exactly what he is talking about. Not somebody who is falling asleep in the middle of the tour. Issue them uniform with the logo of “Caverns of Sonora”. Besides that, fair prices, great souvenir shop, customer service very welcoming. Highly recommend!

Wonderful tour guided 1hour to 2hours. They walk you threw everything is great and very warm inside cave. Also have rv park

Excellent tour guide made this a great experience. Worth the money for the tour. Just when you think the tour is great, it just kept getting better. Beautiful example of a cave! Recommended!

This was a great activity for a morning or afternoon, particularly in the summer. The caves are a welcome 70 degrees. The tour is 2 hours long and involves 4 flights of stairs at the end so I would reserve the recommendation for those able to climb. Our tour guide was Evan and he was great very knowledgeable and told great stories. He really knew the cave well. The cave itself is quite large and is known for helectites.. formations that grow on the sides of caves. The caves have several sections and they are all different. It was spectacular for us; we really like caves. Anyone would enjoy it. Adult ticket $20 and well worth it.

The caverns of Sonora is a great treat for campers. 6 miles off I-10, it is located right in the heart of the country. There is a lot of wildlife including deer, peacocks and all other sorts of birds that are around the park. Their accommodations were very nice including the bathrooms and showers. Just beware if you are driving a tall RV or camper that you watch the low-hanging tree branches. They have power hookup and water hook-up but no dump capabilities. They have a very nice gift shop.

One of the best caverns we’ve been to in awhile. The staff was friendly. Levi, the tour guide was definitely full of cave information. Gift store was big and full of lots of touristy sales and FUDGE. I guess the fudge was good. Three pounds and I never got a taste so we’ll chalk that up to some good fudge. The grounds outside were clean and inviting and the signage to get there was great from the interstate.

Matt Franks

One of the best caves to visit in Texas

karma6730 .

Didn’t do the tour but stayed overnight at the campground. Good value at $25. No dump station but water and electric. Bathroom nice and clean. Nice gift shop. Quiet and peaceful.

Found the staff very accommodating to organize a tour for us and two other couples. The cavern tour is fantastic visually and informative.

We camped in an RV spot for the night, then took the cavern tour as our second anniversary gift to ourselves. The cavern was amazing, the guide knowledgeable, and it was a great experience. There were deer grazing openly, and ducks and geese abounded. There were also a few rabbits. We definitely enjoyed our stay.

Kassidy Sherrill

Wonderful experience! The caverns were amazing and our tour guide was very knowledgeable!

Sandy Gonzales

Loved it! A must see

stephanie holt

Nice cave but they spent way more time harping about felonies for and not touching anything in the cave than actually telling you what was in the cave. We passed several incredible formations that were not even talked about by our tour guide Evan. Seemed kind of rushed.

Katelin Elizabeth

Absolutely loved visiting here! The Caverns were breathtaking and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and nice. This was my first time in a cavern and I am excited to see more. I thoroughly enjoyed this place. Very nice gift shop and grounds. Some things are a bit pricey but still very nice. Absolutely loved seeing the Peacocks as well! Took plenty of pictures of the Peacocks and the Caverns but they just don't do them justice! Loved this place!

Deb Doll

Loved the tour and our tour guide was awesome and a wealth of local info

Probably the most beautiful cavern you will ever be allowed into. I recommend going out of your way to see this if you think caverns incredibly beautiful. This may be the best in the world for its extensive and varied crystal structures. So was the opinion of a geologist. Another huge plus is it is privately owned. Protected by law but not the usual keep most the public away with ridiculous limitations imposed by selfish environmentalists that rule public lands so often.

Aaron Smith

Wasted my time. The lady at the desk was rude. The place has not been updated in many years, and it appears that there has never been a broom or a dust rag on the property.

Frank Quijano

Small and narrow. Very hot and humid, otherwise it was beautiful. Long downgrade. It puts you very close to the formations (do not touch). Climbing up is hard; many steps. Gift shop has many unique items for sale. Would go again, well worth the trip.

Scott Robison

The most unique cavern formations I've ever seen in the U.S. and I've seen many. You will not be disappointed. Awesome staff and tour guide (Bill). Do not miss it!

Larry Lewis

This Cavern is Awesome.....& Bill did a Great Job as our Guide. Don't miss this Cavern System.

Debra Rios

It was really great we had fun and learned a lot of things about the caverns

Dawn of the Survivor

Very cool experience but a word to the wise... Don't take really little kids on the cave tour. Bigger kids will love it though. I'd love to go again sometime.

Ace Lane

Friendly management.. But park was crude.. Grass was about a foot tall..no cable..no internet. No dump. Paid 25.. High for what was offered

Darren Speers

Great little campsite with power and BBQ availability all over. The Caverns are spectacular and the tour really highlights the majesty, beauty, and surprising delicate nature of the formations. Highly recommend!

Julia Westmoreland

The caves were beautiful, the tour guide was very helpful and informative. Definitely would go back.

A jewel out in the hill country of Texas. It's about 4 miles off of Hwy I-10. Past or before the town of Sonora. There are 9 pull through camp sites. 50 amp and water. No sewer. Does have bathrooms/showers. $25.00 a night. While you are camping here, you can take a tour of the Cavern. It's a great tour. Done it many times. If you live animals, you will wake up to around 25 white tail deer eating around some trees. Forgot to mention there is tent camping too. It's great to watch the deer roam by. Besides Turkey's and peacock.

Neal Graham

Amazing caves. Better than carlsbad. Great guide and nice tourist shop. Reasonably priced rv spaces.

Richard Biggs

It was so different from other caves I've been to. The way the cave itself was made is intriguing.

Nicholas Gartman

Great staff and tour guide, beautiful scenery above ground and under ground and fantastic gift shop! Definitely recommend

Michele Streetman

If you have the chance, this is a must see. Be prepared for high humidity (98%) and temps that feel like mid-80's F. The formations are beautiful and worth the trip.

William Muir
