While most of the guides were nice and helpful a few were very rude. This was made worse by the fact that they have way more people in each group of rafts than they should, pileups were common and often made the main parts of rapids impassible. Likely much better off using another service that doesn’t cram as many people down the river at once.

I recently just got home from completing the damn release trip today with friend and have to start off by first saying that our tour guides were amazing! However the amount of customers that are put through on an individual trip is outrageous, 128 with our group, I think they mentioned. Maybe restructuring would be a good thing to try. There was just to many people that I would say most of the time spent was waiting for other rafts to catch up. In terms of the rapids I would say they weren’t anything crazy or to get hyped up about. If you are an adrenaline seeker or someone who is looking for a crazy white water rafting trip this may not be the company or trail for you. Overall had a great time with the staff but the way it is setup and the amount of people they push through with a group to me was unacceptable. I would say more groups with less people would be the way to go. Just to much stopping and waiting around on the side of the river. Wouldn’t recommend this trip for the price. Was looking forward to trip and left disappointed with adventure itself. Additional: I saw your response to this review but no mention or addressing the large group sizes.

Absolutely great time. The staff was super fun and very attentive. We struggled with getting stuck on rocks at the beginning and they came over and taught us how to work as a team better to avoid the rocks. It was a long and tiring day but extremely fun!

Aside from the river having only 2 and 3 currents it was a nice and relaxing trip. Halfway down the river you stop for lunch that is provided by the staff. All you can eat. The whole trip took about 4-5 hours. Great staff.

Late in doing this but here it is. Truly enjoyed my very first WWR Under the Moonlight. Paul was such a good leader. He made my experience a good one. Happy with the picture you took for us. I hope the company considers doing more night trips before the end of the season. I would love to share the experience with my kids. The family has enjoyed Skirmish and WWR with your company for many years and this experience cannot be left out. I wasn't mad at the fact that cheese was not available but a kit for two smore's was provided. The wine was good too.

Had a GREAT Time.. went with group of 10 and the staff handled us with expertise and professionalism.. Food is a bit on the pricey side.. ( Pack ahead ) but that's how the Bill's get paid.. Facilities were well kept and clean.. equipment was up to PAR and the buses where clean... Go with a couple of a large group and have FUN.. Highly Recommend !!

I brought teens ranging in ages 11,15 and 19 years old 2 boys and 1 girl. I made arrangements secretly.... My husband works hard and is retired military and despite the weather . We so had a blast . The staff was Awesome! Kennedy was great even with high water to get us rafting as a team and had us hooked in no time. . hey teenagers are hard to entertain , let alone to impress ... I even got COOL mom out of it..... Older boys way of saying. Alright Definitely coming back for more adventure and memories.

Been there about 3-4 times and its always fun. Rafting staff is very friendly, funny and very clear with their directions. Will keep you safe at all times. Anyone can do Rapid 2 levels whether or not they know swimming. Tons of free parking. You can even take a pass if can't make it. Take your water guns and your phones in protective sleeves to make your good and fun memories. Food at cafe is ok, and little pricey, so bring your own snacks.

This was my first time and i was little apprehensive about white water rafting. I did a class1&2 which they call it a family style. It was fun and safe. There were kids as young a 4 years on the trip. Family adventure and kids could get their water guns and have fun on the raft. Not too intensive but a good half day past time. Thinking to go back and try class 3 rapids. Detailed instructions were provided and friendly staff and instructors.

My friends and i have been coming here every summer for at least the last 6 years for the dam release whitewater trip. The staff is professional and fun and most of all, safe. The routes, both upper and lower gorge, are very scenic. We'll definitely be coming here for many more years. Next year we're thinking of doing the moonlight rafting trip. Highly recommend this place.

We have went white water rafting with Ponoco Whitewater for 15+ years. Always did the late morning with the lunch stop for my godson who is autistic. This is great for all ages, and the younger kids sleep good that night.....so do some adults. 3+ hours on the water, wanting to go for the moonlight rafting, with wine and cheese at the bon fire just sounds like a great night. If you want great guides and a great experience you should call and book you won't be sorry.

Great experience over all,well planned routes and very friendly staff.However,for some reason they don't provide helmets to anyone,which in my opinion is very risky considering there is a high chance of people falling off their rafts and hitting their heads on rocks.During our trip,one person did fall off the raft,hit his head on a rock and was bleeding pretty profusely.Funny thing is,the instructors were the only ones wearing helmets.Apart from this safety issue,I think it was a great experience all in all and definitely worth the money.

We did not realize it was a guided trip, which certainly slowed us down as the lead guide had to stop the whole group of roughly 20 rafts to wait up for everyone. After some time the guide at the back of the group (there were three guides, one up front, one in the middle, one in the rear) realized my friends and I knew what we were doing, that we were purposely staying near the rear of the group, and started suggesting paths to take, and waves and holes to look out for. This made the rest of the trip considerably more enjoyable! We are by no means experts, but have been rafting quite a few times before, so we certainly appreciated this! The packaged lunches you can purchase before hand is a nice touch, and are packaged excellently, even separately bagging sandwich ingredients to ensure the bread doesn't get soggy! Overall a great experience and well worth the trip!

It was the first time that I went to rafting, friends invited me, so I decided to try it, and turned out to be the best experience I've had in years, guides were pretty nice, especially Tom, but Annie wasnt really that nice to us, I know she is concerned but she shouldn't be yelling at us. The trip was pretty fun, we had a group of 6, the water were really fast, sometimes we will hit some big rocks and I fell into the water then my legs will hit some rocks before I can climb back on the kayak, and actually there were too much people, I can say like 80+ people, some kayak will bump into our and they will bump into us, sometimes that wasn't really safe, but overall it was a pretty experience, I will visit again!

The only reason why this gets one star is because 0 Stars was not an option. We came from out-of-state to do a dam release whitewater rafting day outing, only to find that once we got here our trip had been cancelled. We understand the circumstances that led to the cancellation, as the river was higher than usual, and that wasn't the issue. The issue lied in the lack of communication from the staff to all of the people who were booked for the late morning/afternoon outings. Because the river was higher, the guides had to be present on each and every raft. This company did not accommodate for all of the outings because they ran out of guides, and thus our late morning trip was cancelled. If that is how they handle these types of situations, I wouldn't recommend this place. Dealing with the weather/river is understandable. But they should've called us first thing this morning to let us know they couldn't accommodate our trip and offered the refund or rescheduling over the phone, so we didn't have to waste time driving all the way there for no reason. So many people like us were disappointed. Don't take a chance with this company, atrocious service and communication!

Two stars because the rapids were fun but other than that I’d rate it a 1 star. The attraction is fun when you finally get there but the way it’s set up is just weird. They make you drive to one location to sign in and then they bus you about twenty minutes and then an additional ten min walk. I didn’t encounter one nice worker. Everyone had a sarcastic, rude attitude. It’s a poor set up, especially with the amount of money you’re paying. All of the life jackets smell like mold and there is also mold in the boats. They also make you stop for a 30 minute lunch break which I just personally think it’s a waste of time.

Awesome experience. Very helpful and friendly staff and guides. Well organized facility. Must visit for easy level 1 and 2 class family white water rafting fun. Long enough and tiring rafting experience for begginers. We were 7 families with kids from 3 yrs old to adults. All had great fun. They could do bit better in lunch options. Recommend to take your light snacks, food with you while you wait for your turn. Don't count much on free lunch provided.

Looking for something different to do with our 14 year old son. We picked whitewater rafting. I was a little nervous since this was MY first time and the first time for our son. We had a blast. The staff was the best. The lunch was a nice break. Very relaxing. If i would have known it was so much fun, we would have started earlier in the season and would have been back many more time this summer. Will DEFINITELY be back many more times next year.

Not far from NYC for a day trip. The water level varies according to time of the year. Summer months are good if have young kids and just want to spend some time on the river. The weather and water is warm in summer, so you can swim in the river alongside the boat. Spring might be better if you're crazy about whitewater rafting. Weekends and holidays are crowded. Bring your own food and check the requirements before you come.

It was our first time experience of rafting. But with the professionalism of the crew , we felt so confident and they were extremely helpful on guiding us through out the tour . They make sure you are safe . We had a 4 hours of tour on dam release water where we could experience class 3-4 rapids . Wear water clothes and easily drainable shoes (available for rent also) , take go pros, mobile water proof cover . try to keep the car keys in locker and leave the valuables in the car as you might miss it in case if the raft flips . You can take food and water as they give you a small bucket with lid to close it and keep it in the raft . you can eat when they stop in midway for break . You will see breathtaking views all the way . Just listen to what crew say and have fun

Awesome experience on an amazing day. Really well oiled machine that starts out getting you geared up and ready to go on your rafting trip and then getting you there comfortably. The staff and guides were very knowledgeable and funny as well as approachable. The food was decent during lunch break and it was nice to stop at the swimming holes along the trip. We did the four hour trip and I think it was perfect. Anymore would’ve probably been too long and this was just the right amount of time to enjoy the Lehigh River and the outdoors. I would definitely use this group in the future

Some of the most fun I have had in a while with my clothes on! We did the family excursion cause we never did white water. The water itself was mild and we could have easily done the tougher one, but we had an absolute blast because of the "water wars". We had no idea that was a sanctioned activity, but we jumped right on it when we realized what was going on. We rented 4 water guns and essentially bullied the other rafters. They were up for the fight and tried...but were no match! We formed 2 alliances, one of which was broken and they paid dearly! I am going back for sure!

Great place for rafting, we did class 3 rafting for 12 miles. We walked like 50 feet in 1-2ft of water and down rock made stairs to start rafting which felt unsafe. Overall it is very fun, the guides are very skilled and watch closely for your safety. They will help your raft off rocks even in very rapid waters. The processing stage is a bit boring but the rest makes up for it. Highly recommended!

I’ve been using these guys since 2007, usually twice a year. I have never had a bad experience. The staff is super helpful, informative, and polite. I’ve had to cancel trips, reschedule, and add people. They’re extremely accommodating and have fair and upfront policies when it comes to credit and money back. We highly recommend them for rafting, paintball, biking, the big day out and anything else you’re thinking about doing with them.

We went on the family style rafting with our 9 year old son and we all had an amazing time! We were afraid it would be long and boring but it definitely wasn’t! We all enjoyed paddling and navigating through the rapids, swimming in the calm spots, and everyone had a blast using water guns and throwing buckets of water at other rafters. The scenery was breathtaking and even the lunch was good! The guides were great and we felt safe. It was an unbelievable experience that definitely made awesome memories for our family! I also love that they took a professional picture. It was a fair price and definitely worth it to buy it. If you are looking for an “outdoorsy” type of adventure, this one definitely won’t let you down. This will undoubtedly be an annual trip for us. We will also be back for the dam release too! Well worth the money and the 2 hour drive! I can’t wait to go again!!

The staff are amazing, so helpful and friendly (Shout out to Ian, one of the guides). This is the best place to come to experience an authentic, underappreciated part of the United States. It's a great place to spend a weekend, especially if you have a family. It was one of the best experiences of my life honestly. I love this place and I love Jim Thorpe, PA.

Did family whitewater rafting on Saturday. The climate was cloudy that day but if we did rafting, Water is colder in beginning afterward we can enjoy the cold water also by releasing heat energy while paddling. The trip is about 4-5 hrs and rafting is 2-3 hrs and in between their lunch break. We booked our tickets at 12:35 pm, We got ready with life jackets, Stripped footwear, sunscreen, water-resistant mobile bags. They called us around 1’o clock gave basic instructions, buckets, paddle. Got into the bus had a half a ride to the spot and got into our boat. There are two big rapids one at the beginning and one at the end. The rapids at the beginning for was within 5mins it was a little scary if we managed that all other rapids were fun. In between the give swimming spots we swim over there. It is less deep. They will give lunch break after 1 & half we can get hot dogs , veg sandwich, Peanut Butter and jam again we have to start our padding for 1 and a half hour. This has more fun and exciting. Friendly staffs and good training made us paddle safely.

Fantastic... Fantastic... Fantastic... Awesome crew. Enjoyed thoroughly. Since we are new to level 2 and 3 rafting ( that too with 2 kids ) we couldn't move forward after 1 mile. But Jash and crew took care of us very well. Our kids enjoyed like anything.. no words.. we want to go again and again.. rest rooms are very clean.. bus travel was great.. customer care is responsive in case of reschedule or cancel your plan.. If anyone want to try first time, I suggest following things. 1. Energy bars and snacks 2. Waterproof cover Mobile and wallet 3. Sunglasses 4. Sun screen lotion 5. Water shoes 6. Action camera ( if you are vlog enthusiastic )

Raft 12 miles on a really fun section of the Lehigh River that includes Class 2 and 3 rapids. Pocono Whitewater staff is great and very safety oriented. Rafts were in good condition. Our only complaint was the bucket used to store the lunches leaked, but since our stuff was in plastic bags and/or dry bags, our food was OK. They move large groups of people through there in a very organized fashion.

A great day and a fun experience. We did the dam release whitewater trip and everyone enjoyed it. The guides were great and everything was well organized. There can be a lot of rafts on the river, which slows things down a bit. Also I'd recommend going as a group - if you show up as a pair you're going to end up in a raft with people you don't know.

Completed the big day out! Was an amazing experience. From arriving to the site, eating a great breakfast for fuel for the rest of the day. The biking was amazing, beautiful waterfalls to stop by . On a beautiful trail along the river side. Bikes were in great condition as well, lunch was awesome sitting on a rock next to the river front. The hike was cool, took some amazing pictures. White water rafting was really fun,swimming in the river was an awesome way to cool down. The entire staff and leaders were amazing. Definitely worth the money. A must do for anyone , any age and families. Dinner and. A free beer was a great way to top of an amazing day and a free souvenir mug. The big day out ! Cheers

Overall a fun experience with charismatic guides and good pick up and drop off arrangements. Lehigh River itself was beautiful and scenic, and the rapids (level 3-4) were exciting enough for beginners. That being said, the operator was understaffed the weekend we went. We had over 15 boats, nearly 100 people, finishing with over 30 boats together after they decided to combine two groups. There were only four guides for our original group. Many had never rafted before - lots of people falling in and rafts getting stuck on rocks. We spent probably 2 of the 5 hours waiting for people to catch up. Like Chris, I'd suggest smaller groups with at least one guide for every two boats. The understaffing also led to some safety issues. For example, the guides only discovered two people were missing after over an hour (they were in someone else's boat after falling out). My friends and I fell out a couple of times and none of the guides came over to see if we were ok or needed help. I saw others who had fallen out and no guides helped. The safety instructions in the beginning were also difficult to hear (no loud speaker or mic). There were also a few areas where the guides told us to go one by one. With over 30 inexperienced boats, it became an obstacle course with boats and rocks.

My friends and I had a fantastic trip! It was downpouring and the rapids were hard, but it was fun. Kelly was a fantastic guide. We never got stuck or fell off the raft. And Sky was a great storyteller.

This is allot of fun especially in the Summer. It's best to go after allot of rain or after a damn release. It's a great time for the whole family, it's very organized and the instructors stay with you the entire trip. The scenery is beautiful, bring your camera, they sell water proof cases for your camera. You must wear sneakers. Prices are very reasonable. Allot of fun, should experience it at least once, they also sell pictures of your experience

We enjoyed the experience there. Our mother duck bill and instructor Rachel guided us well. One thing many did not like to see 'BEEF+PORK mixed hot dogs' were served. When you set up a business and offer food, you should be able to consider people from different groups. Muslims do not eat pork and Indians Hindus do not eat beef and you mixed it together so no one can eat them. You look at you guests and you will find a large number of people are muslims and Indians. Hope you guys sort this out. Thanks

Really awesome adventure, the staff for the most part was very friendly and helpful, 2 of the trip leaders in particular were extremely helpful and very very friendly (we received a bonus history lesson on our ride back through Jim Thorpe which was awesome!!) The water on our trip day was a bit low so most of rapids were very very small so for an adventurous adult it wasn't as exciting, but the trip was overall an enjoyable experience with a little of workout from the rowing mixed in with some relaxing spots as well. The only issues we experienced were minimal but worth noting. Upon our arrival we were basically told we were early and to wait to do our paperwork, it felt as though we were being scolded for being ahead of trip time... Once they let us do the paperwork is was EXTREMELY unorganized as far as what we were supposed to do next and what people around us were doing to prepare for the trip. It felt like we could have left on time if not 30 minutes or more earlier if people were there instructing guests more and making sure people were actively getting ready.. A lot of folks wondering around, back and forth not knowing where to go or what to do With all of that being said, I would highly recommend this trip for a couple, a family with older kids, or even a family with smaller children.. The folks leading the trip are very safe and vigilant!

Went wwr for the first time and with kids. It was a great time. The guides are fun and helpful. Nothing rough or scary at all. We were out for a bit over 3 hours. Next time I'd try a faster, more advanced course.

Excellent trip, everyone had lots of fun. Rapids here are way more fun than those on Delaware river or CT. If you want more extreme go to the Gorge in WV. This place is in close proximity to major metro areas, gets busy on weekends. Plan ahead, sign up for a group deals to get discount. Bring your vest as some of the vests they give you at this facility are old, stinky and moldy. Once you get in the water, it won't matter but would be a nice touch...
