REVIEWS OF Leonard Harrison State Park Visitor Center IN Pennsylvania

Neil Marks

Great lookout for sunsets and good hiking trail with proper footwear.

Rev Myers

Beautiful views of canyon (Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania) between two mountain ridges in upper central PA. Hiking trail (Turkey Trail) starts at top and descends over a mile to Pine Creek, where the Pine Creek Rail Trail extends for nearly 90 miles. Turkey Trail has a few waterfalls that change dramatically in character depending on water flow.

Charity Townsend

A great little campground, that I felt was nicely spaced. Nice clean bathroom with one shower. Which might cause issues during summer months. And it's 1/4 mile to a spectacular view of the grand canyon

Ryan Micklich

Beautiful views of PA grand canyon without having to go on a hike.

m m

Absolutely stunning views! There are a few buttons missing in the educational center, but By running into a park ranger, it made the trip extremely eventful. We will always come back to this spot.

Thomas Kern

Visited today 03/17/19, 4 stars for gorgeous views but disappointed that trails were closed at the visitor center, sign at Overlook Trail started will be open 2nd week of April. The other called Turkey Path nearest to the lot after passing the visitor center just was roped off with trail closed sign, No idication when that will open. Drove 3 hours to take 20 pictures and walk for 15 minutes, lol Guess too early in season.

Thomas Brown

Awesome place in the mountains of PA. Its a must see!

Outstanding views of the Pine Creek Gorge/Creek and the PA Grand Canyon. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to see the views. Pick a nice clear sunny day if possible. Plenty of room at the lookouts for everyone to see both up and down the river.

Paul Damerell

"The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon." It's somewhat remote, but the nice view of the canyon rewards you for the drive there. Canyon is 800 ft deep at the park, and the very nice, very extensive overlook is just steps from the parking area. My wife and I enjoyed our visit.

First ones into the park early on a Saturday AM in mid June. Great views. Easy in and out.

Vince Gillespie

I heard of this State Park probably 10 years ago. I pretty much forgot about it until thiss past w weekend. I will say, this is worth the visit and we will be coming back in the Fall! Absolutely breath taking!

Shawn Leriche

Waiting till fall to return! We love this place, as its one of the most well kept parks we have ever visited. If you have the time, i highly recommend the Turkey Path. Down and back up i believe is about 5 miles, but completely worth it for sight seeing. All the waterfalls are located here, and we love taking pictures and seeing everything. INFO: The turkey path is located from the visitors center. Through to the lookout point, past the restrooms and little gift shops, it starts to the right. It is a pretty good downhill walk, then a constant incline walk back up. After rain, it can get slippery in some spots, so be prepared and wear good shoes. Vending machines are located at the beginning before the start, but nothing throughout or at the bottom, so be prepared.

Jeff Marquardt

Large park. Great views

Jodi

Absolutely breathtaking! Then a bus pulls in and ruins the experience. Way to many people. The trails were decently deserted which was nice.

Theo de Jager

Gorge-eous scenery! Beautiful views.

Laurie Tabacheck

Beautiful place. The hiking was perfect for our family.

Best view of the grand canyon. No hiking required.

Gregory Davidson

Always a pleasant walk and overlook. Very peaceful even when many people are there. Nice balance of various informational and educational resources.

Amazing views, and the girls in the gift shop were super friendly.

Bill Colton

The maintenance is a little lacking, but it's still a nice place to go.

Felix Yirdong

An amazing park

Cathy Engel

Loved it ❤️. was everything I imagined it to be.

Ram Agarwal

Apparently Google maps show there are two canyons in Pennsylvania. So do select Leonard Harrison if you want to see the one photographed below..Worth one time visit. We couldn't take the 1 mile trail due to time constraints..

Bruce Cattie

Everything you need to find out about the park.

Thomas Ulrich

Nice views.

Brad K

Hiked the Turkey Falls trail, took in the Grand Canyon overlook. So awesome to have such gorgeous outdoor activities for free available.

Bruce Clark

Beautiful! Definitely worth the drive to get there!

Larry Putnam

Very nice views of the canyon just awesome

Harry Vann Phillips

One of the most spectacular locations in Pennsylvania's state park system. The views are beyond comparison and the Turkey Foot Trail allows the adventurous to hike down to the floor of the canyon. Just remember, once you hike down, you have to hike back up. Simply one of the wonderful natural places Pennsylvania has to offer.

Clinton Roe

Good views like to walk my dog there

Jamy Kovolenus

Spectacular views of the canyon. There is a one mile walking trail to the bottom on the Turkey path. We did not walk this yet. There is a visitors center which tells about the history of the place. An audio and video plays constantly. Very cool. Also a small gift shop with refrigerator magnets, hats, sweatshirts, and shirts. When we were there, there was a small vendor with ice cream and drinks. There was local honey for sale also. Worth the trip from wherever you are from. Very cool! Download an offline map, service is non existent here.

Regina Russell

One of my favorite places to visit. I love to hike the Turkey path and overlook trail. The view is gorgeous in any season and it's a lovely place to picnic at and explore.

tedw56

A true rugged wilderness.

Jordan Gensemer

This is a really neat place. I would say it’s kind of a Pennsylvania hidden gem. Most people don’t know of this area and the beauty behind it. This whole area around the park is beautiful. There’s a lot of trails and lookouts to see all kinds of views. This is a must place to go see!!

Megan M. H.

I have visited the gorge many times and throughout many seasons, but nothing is quite as spectacular as my most recent trip when the rhododendrons were in bloom. A must see!!

Erin J Ross

Loved coming back. I'm vision impaired and wanted to visit before loosing my vision completely, last visit wanted to camp there with my ADA dog but was told NO PETS! She was not a pet but a working dog n had to go across the county to another state camp ground n after explaining what happened the Ranger Station made up for it and cleared up the issue! Thank you so very much

John Loiselle

This is the ideal access point for views and hiking at the PA Grand Canyon! Restrooms, gift shop, trailheads, and a campground with electric service are all available at this location.

Kim Green

Nice visitors center. Really loved the "Grand Canyon", my first time there. Hiked the Turkey trail with my family and then the Otter Trail. Nice views from the terace. Spotted a bald eagle soaring, just magnificent. I also enjoyed the edible goods from the local maple syrup farm. Had to be the best ice cream I have had in a while. Highly recommend this trip.

Anita Weaver

Hike the Turkey Path early in the morning to enjoy the falls without sweating to do it.

Christina Hatch

Absolutely beautiful scenery! Very nice hike down (and back up) the Turkey Trail.

Beautiful views and waterfalls :)

Lino Viola

Well worth the drive on narrow dirt road for part of the way. Beautiful view, challenging trail. Adequate parking with a surprisingly interesting food stand.

Lindsey Funair

Beautiful. Take the small walk down on the left, even better views. Clean and well cared for, a very nice park with a small trail.

Jackie H

Love it here. The lookout is paved and has handicapped access, can be enjoyed by all!

Dury Martin

Beautiful view on a clear day. Encountered a bear on the canyon trail on a somewhat busy day. So be alert.

Krystal Haskins

Great place to hike and enjoy the day

Diane Patton

Charming little diner with great service and good food.

Spencer Tracey

Very well maintained with a lot of great trails. Great place to go alone or to take the family. Clean restrooms and fantastic views. Gets a bit busy in autumn when the leaves are changing but is still well worth the visit, even in the busy season. The turkey trail goes all the way to the bottom of the canyon, ending at Pine Creek. If you don't mind getting wet, you can wade across the creek and walk up the trail to Colton Point side of the canyon. This place is great and offers a little something for everyone. You can also rent kayaks nearby and see the canyon from Pine Creek. Very relaxing and peaceful here.

Henry Lanouette

Beautiful scenic vistas, see if you can find any deer at the bottom of the valley. We did!

Mark Strohm

Lovely views. Clean. Paths are straight forward. Enjoyed my hike.

Nathan Cole

Wonderful view with clean and well kept trails

Donna Sensenig

The PA Grand Canyon lookout is amazing! A must-see

Matthew Scott

Very nice area. It was raining, and the gorge was blocked.

Emily Grillo

Spectacular views and a challenging hike

David Cheung

It is a well developed overlook. There is a small visitor center and gift shop. There was also a private concession stand that sold all things maple syrup. It is worth checking out if you are in the area. Getting here and getting out of here is difficult because some of the surrounding roads are unpaved. Other roads are very windy and steep.

David Shaver

Beautiful views of the Pennsylvania Grand canyon

Jolene Nickel

This is a beautiful State Park tucked away in PA. I never knew about but thanks to a friend we enjoyed a bit of what this park has to offer. Definitely a spot to visit if you enjoy hiking, picnicking, canoeing/kayaking, or simply sitting and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. It has plenty of shaded parking and a small visitor center with well maintained facilities. The view of the canyon is beautiful - worth a trip off the beaten path.

Alejandro Gómez

Amazing view!! Great hike!!

Pisaj Terasz

This is the place you want to go to see the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon aka Pine Creek Gorge. When my friends and I put Pine crek Gorge into google maps directly, it took us to little pine state park which is 45 minutes south of this place. We asked a park ranger and he explained to us where it was. The views here are epic. You can spend days exploring the entire thing. A hot summers day like we did, make sure you bring sun block and bug spray. I am definitely going back again.

Eden L Ratliff

If you enjoy the outdoors you will definitely enjoy this place, it is so beautiful to just stand there and look out across the Gorge, you can see the river below and people on their kayaks also there are hiking trails and places to camp, very cool !

Todd Narber

Beautiful to look out over the canyon at

Lisa Doty

Nice day to visit the grand canyon of PA.

Joyce Reilly

Amazing! Relaxing, quiet and tranquil.

Lottie Nonemaker

Been here before just as beautiful in the spring as in the fall

Nathan Brubaker

We loved camping at this state park. The bathrooms were good and the sites were far enough apart to not feel crowded. The views at the overlook are great. I really like this part of Pennsylvania, and this is one of the great State Parks. It's s little off the beaten path, but if you have the time, don't drive by.

Aleksandr Pevzner

Unbelievable place everyone should visit.

Kathy Miller

Beautiful views and multiple hiking opportunities of varying degrees of difficulty. Gift shop is small but stocked with quality items at reasonable prices. Clerk is knowledgeable and friendly!!

Lance Peters

Some nice hikes. Expected to see a little more of the canyon. If you have bikes take them along to see more

Berny no

It's a nice view but from living in Pennsylvania I see mountains and mountain views almost every day

Goerls Going Places

Really pretty sights and very informative video to watch in the visitor center.

d montrose

The PA Grand Canyon and the Kinzua Bridge are two northern PA must see destinations. Leonard Harrison SP is a great place to take in the views for all ages. We went at the end of March and the turkey trail and Overlook trail were closed, so if you go in the off season check to ensure trails are open. We did hike a few miles on the pine Creek trail which is easy relatively flat walking at the Darling Run access point. Can't wait to go back in warmer weather!

David Conover

Excellent views with a small little gift shop. I recommend the turkey trail the the bottom of the gorge to really appreciate the location

Leigh Braden

We visited to view the Grand Canyon. It was a foggy morning but still were able to enjoy the views. Nice facilities.

Brandon Parker

Gorgeous landscaping. Honestly if you want some of the most breathtaking views and some great hiking trails, the PA Grand Canyon is something you have to check out.

Diane Rush

It was beautiful

Olivia Zug

Camped here in a tent one night in July. Beautiful park with some of the nicest hikes. Bathrooms were some of the best I have seen camping! The tent sites were unexpectedly small and tight without a ton of trees for shade or privacy.

Larry Fisher

Loved it beautiful views .

Abe Shelton

Excellent view, had a wonderful time overlooking the Grand Canyon of PA.

Vincent Cantu

We camped here for 3 nights. All the facilities are amazingly clean and well kept. The park is great. The views are spectacular! I would highly recommend this park to anyone, for a day trip or for camping!

Zachariah Deaver

Lucas Dillinger

Beautiful and well maintained. Nice job!

Heidi Woodard

Amazingly beautiful!

shari yeater

Took us awhile to find the park. Was happy when we finally found it. Relaxing over looking the area.

Ruth Schmick

Beautiful views of the PA grand canyon. Very well maintained.

Kimberly Calinger

Well maintained trails with beautiful views. The restrooms were not air conditioned which made for a sticky and steamy experience in 98 degree weather. The visitor center was nice, but some of the buttons on the displays were missing.

Kennie Kisamore

Breathtaking views & amazing things to do for the outdoor enthusiasts.

Chelsea Johns

Beautiful! We hiked the turkey trail and loved the beautiful views and challenging path.

Ken Richner

The rules about UAV photography has a conflict between what's on paper and what the manager says? I think it might be a repeat of when they refused my wife's service animal a few years back! (That issue was resolved quickly with a apologie but this one?) The first thing the manager asked the clerk was my name they way this was done seemed like only people he knew would be allowed (I could be wrong? It was just a observation and the fact he stumbled on his reason/excuse for saying no!) I don't have a problem with rules or laws if they are properly enforced it's when someone with authority uses it in a abusefull way or picks and chooses what the public can or can't do based on Mood, Day, Origin, Race, Disability, or personal agenda! these parks belong to the people of PA! Our taxes pay for them! Yes I'm a bit upset about this especially after the service animal issue a few years ago!! I'm disabled and spent a lot of time! Money! Getting the UAV and the FAA certificate to fly so I can see places I can no longer access because of my physical limitations! The manger said only for promotional reasons would he allow it??? That requires a Part 107 FAA license the rules say the regular license is all that's needed? A part 107 is a commercial license (like a UAV CDL) for profit use EG: Movies, TV paid advertising? I guess I have to go high up again like when they refused to let the service animal in Leonard Harrison park?!?! We'll see what happens? The public should not have to work so hard to prove the laws and Regulations to staff in these places the employees job is to be literate on the rules and regulations! I did my part! Getting the proper certificates and pay the required fees and learned how to safely fly per current regulations.

Danielle Hurst

The view here is amazingly breathtaking.

Barb Wood

Can't wait to go back again. Awesome

tom000

Great views.

Janet Bender

Someone stole my daughter's wallet right from the front seat. Luckily she cancelled her credit cards in time because they drove to Mansfield Wal-Mart n tried to charge $1000.! Called the Manfield police n tell them we had the exact time of the charge from the credit statements declined from online n they didn't want to pursue it..Maybe they were in the donut shop!

Tessie Guyer

Have been here 100 times and it is still breath taking!!

Joe Lee

Great Views. Very nice over look area.

Brendan Westfall

The campsite was beautiful! And the amenities are nice, especially the restrooms. It's also very conveniently located on the edge of the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania.

Shaun Nolan

Not a lot to see, but as a quick stop on the way somewhere it is beautiful.

Peter Ramsey Lauffer Carr

Turkey path runs by waterfall after waterfall, wonderful views at top

John Anderson

Easy hikes with fantastic views. Plus we had this maple flavored funnel cake to energize us. Give it a go!

Arnav Bose

This state park has the best views of the erstwhile Grand canyon of PA - Pine creek gorge. The first two viewpoints are the famous ones. Take a half mile trail and you'll get to see another view point - Otter viewpoint - which gives a closer and clearer view of the meandering rivulet cutting through the canyon. We went a week before the actual fall colours and it was good. Next week would have been perfect though. There's a small shop setup for snacks and condiments like honey, maple syrup, maple sugar etc. All in all, a good place for a day out.

Parag Makhija

Loved the trekking and waterfalls at this place. Very close to mother nature
