REVIEWS OF Abe's Buggy Rides IN Pennsylvania

Haven Hwang

It was very nice first buggy ride for my kids and myself. Driver was very patient with my toddlers. Nice waiting spot with unique swing sets and farm animals to look at.

Felippe Mora

Very nice people. Be ready to wait as they don't have that many buggies. There is a playground for the kids to play while you wait.

Ross Forsythe

A truly personalized ride by friendly and knowledgeable drivers. I have been on two other buggy rides (along this same road) and Abe's is by far the best.

Connie Carlucci

Nice Buggy Ride. We took the short 2 mile tour. Our tour guide was sweet and knowledgeable. Kept us engaged in conversation while we toured a few back roads in the area. Gave us a great restaurant recommendation as well.

Tee Brown

Absolutely fun and well worth the price for an hour. Elizabeth was great!! A wonderful experience.

Nawaf Aloraier

Ask for Paul. Amazing guy with lots of knowledge.

ramceu lian

So awesome. I love it!

Heidi Cardenas-Weaver

Our driver was Paul. He was very kind and welcoming. He was sweet to the kids and patient with all their enthusiasm. We took our 5 kids (12, 10, 6, 4 and infant) out and they were thrilled. We all rode a large buggy together for a 30 minute drive. We would totally do that again and do a longer drive. It was an entirely new experience for them so they loved treating the horse and other animals on site as well. I would love to do a separate ride with just my husband so I can get all the details that the driver has to offer, talking about the local farms and what is grown etc. We chose this outing spontaneously and so glad we did!

jeff adamson

This was a Wonderful experience. We drove past a few different places but Abe´s was recommended. We are glad we did. The prices were a super value, the nice woman makes amazing home made root beer and the guides were beyond nice. We will definetly be returning.

Mohammad Ghani

Great ride to see that different communities living in the same place together in peace. Two different era's. The cars and other traffic wait respectfully when the buggy's have to cross. It's unwritten traffic laws that everyone knows and follows.

diana jarvis

We had paul as our driver. What a great guy. He was so good with my 5 yr old. He made her feel so special. He was so informative. We are going back in april and asking for him again.

Tina Knisely

Horses don't deserve this

Katie Boudreau

Best buggy ride offering in town. Truly authentic! Loved that each tour is private, meaning you only ride with those you're with. My mom and I had an absolute blast on the hour long ride with Sam as our Amish guide. He even let me take the reigns for quite awhile! He seemed to know everyone we saw on our route, and was an amazing guide. We stopped at a cute bake shop on our ride and picked up some tasty goodies. You can't go wrong with Abe's! I highly recommend them!

Mendy I.

Reasonable prices. Really interesting ride

Eugenia Jones

best driver

Joe Higgins

Loved this! It was a nice buggy ride and we learned a little about the area and Amish life. I will go again

Dennis Ashley

Sofphie was a wonderful driver and tour guide. Rickie the horse did a great job pulling our buggy.

Sanjeev Sam

Very good Amish run farm and horse carriage rides. I highly recommend the 3 miles ride. It was very informative about Amish life with live examples. Plus you might get to try some Amish made lemonade on the way for approx. USD 2.00 . Our kids loved both the farm and the ride.

D Fong

Excellent private buggy ride. Our group of 6 took the 3 mile ride in an open buggy. He offered a blanket since it may get chilly, but we declined. Our guide was knowledgeable about the area and showed us a local market for us to buy goodies. He also let one of our co-workers drive the buggy for a bit. Try to call ahead to let him know you are coming so he can call another driver if necessary.

Tim Blum

My mother remembered the name of this place from when they had taken me as a child. 30 years later we returned with my Son. Our guide Elizabeth was fantastic. She was very informative about the Amish culture and very knowledgeable about the entire area and landmarks along the way. My Son (6) rode in the front with her and "helped" her drive some. We took the longest ride 1hr 15 minutes and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My son had a blast. I would highly recommend this place.

Rollerena

Abe started doing buggy rides in this are over 50 years ago.....Love his rides and staff....and horses....especially Charlie...

Alexander Liberman

We took our 90 lb "puppy" for a buggy ride because they advertised as "dog friendly." We weren't disappointed. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We took the 4.5 mile ride at their recommendation. The horse didn't mind the dog, and we have some great pictures and memories.

Ken Carter

Smooth ride. Earl was very informative.

Juan Cerda

Great little place our, driver very knowledgeable about the area and customs

Danny Bernard

Great place for family to feed animals and enjoy buggy ride.

Yuk Li

Great rides. They give you one buggy per family instead of trying to pack you in.

Roger Laird

Make sure you do this. Great time and the driver was excellent. Taught us a lot about amish ways.

Marilyn Boudreau

My daughter and I went on a one hour private buggy ride with a wonderful Old Order Amish gentleman named Sam. Sam was eager to tell us about his community, and encouraged us to ask him any questions we might have. He encouraged my daughter to drive the buggy for a while, which we both enjoyed immensely. Thanks to Sam's knowledge of the area, and his familiarity with most of the local Amish folks, we got to experience things that the average tourist might not see. I highly recommend this family company for a ride of any length. A wonderful way to spend an hour!

Geremi Santos

This place...is GREAT! The people are very very nice... the tour guide i didnt get his name was great i did the 4.5 miles and it was educational he showed us a very great time and explained every thing about the Amish life. I would definitely come here again...they care for there animals very well...they have chickens goats, baby horses...a little playground for the kids to play while you wait.. they have little cups of food to feed the animals for 25cents... they also have water etc for purchase....

Suman Reddy

Very good if you really want to hear about the loving style and farming.

Autumn Carter

We went several years ago and had more fun than we did two days ago. They no longer do the farm tour which was the highlight for us. The buggy ride was a lot of fun and the woman, Sadie who drove us two days was wonderful. She let our four year old drive part of the way which made his day.

Barbara Stempien

Sam was awesome, very kind and knowledgeable. Helped get my handicapped granddaughter into the buggy and let my other granddaughter sit next to him and drive the buggy. Worth every penny.

Paul M

They have a little farm to keep everyone entertained while waiting. Driver was very chatty and knowledgeable.

Neal Ramlakhan

Good for what it is. Buggy rides around Amish country, Amish tour guide let my son drive up front, which he was very excited to do. Not much conversation from the driver unless you ask questions. The waiting area has a little petting farm and swing set. Lots of buggy's so not more than 10 minutes waiting.

Omer Choudry

Sadie, our tour guide, was friendly and informative. We took the 45 min tour through the countryside which was interesting and fun. Friendly animals and friendly staff. Definitely recommend.

F J

Elmer was a great tour guide. Very family friendly and decently priced.

Dana Baughman

Take the long ride! My children aged 8 and 4 LOVED it and so did I! The driver let my 4 yo hold the reins with him! So friendly and authentic. Must go on this ride while you are in Lancaster!

R Bruns

Our driver Lillian was friendly and welcoming. She was open and willing to answer any questions we had about the Amish way of life. The buggy was comfortable and our kids enjoyed the ride as well.

John Edwards

My wife and I had a marvelous time with our tour. There are many tour option from a 30 minute tour through two hours. Each increment will have additional details and areas traveled. We took the 45 min. tour which was a prefect length for us. Our tour guide was very entertaining, and explained the history and culture of the Amish community.

Bud Sherwood

Really enjoyed our ride. Our son got to dhold the reigns some which he really enjoyed. The area to wait had lots to entertain the kids

Jessica Slaymaker

A great family activity! Abner was our guide and full of knowledge! Good price, lots of ride options. Highly recommend!

Robin Straley

What a great experience. We had Paul as our driver who provided lots of info on our 30 minute ride which pertained to the Amish and surrounding area. 22 years ago we had taken our daughter on the same ride with Abe's. This time it was with our 3 year old granddaughter. Lots of old memories renewed with new ones. This is the best buggy ride in town with great shade treed playground area and lots of goats and unusual chickens. LOL. Thank you for giving us another great memory the second time around.

Marginal Mechanic

We had a great time on a beautiful day. Our guide was an Amish lady and she was so fun to hang out with and her information was, well, informative

Dave Hall

Went on the 6.5 trip with the grandkids (6,8,11) very relaxing ride, but not much information about the area or history of the area or its people. Driver was Paul was very nice and answered questions we asked on the trip. Kids got bored. That's part of the issue with kids gotta keep them engaged. It was just an hour 15 plus buggy ride looking at farms. If I had to do it again would take the short trip with them. Many stated price was good. We paid $60 per adult and $15 per kid. A lot of money for a buggy ride. Wish they would add more information about lancaster, the amish, the area, farming...etc.

Randy Berkebile

One of the most interesting things I have done. Great lesson I had ever had.

Esther Kay

We saw their buggy driving on the road and decided to come get a ride. Sam was our driver. He was extremely kind, knowledgable and informative. We took the 2 mile ride which was about 20 minutes long and got see some Amish homes and farms. We had a great experience and highly reccomend.

Andrea Olivares

Very nice people. Earl was our guide, he was very kind and was willing to share about his culture with us. We felt very welcomed and well treated.

Sydney Klein

We never got the ride. First we we're told it was a 30-40 minute wait so we ate our lunch on their picnic area. Then we were told that maybe it would be another 20 minutes. We got a refund and left. A waste of time.

Gary Callaway

Great tour guide. Very enjoyable trip.

Ed Healy

Poor charlie. But we loaded him down. We had a great ride there should be a groupe price thats the only thing i didnt like. Should do couples price than a group price

Very interesting and informative tour of Amish country. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The cost is based on the length of the tour. I would recommend for anyone interested in not only learning about the Amish but seeing their homes and community.

Megan Cantwell

Our driver Sam was wonderful. Gabe and his brother enjoyed it alot!

Jason Bramwell

A little pricey, but for a nice place to learn more about the Amish culture. There's also a great playground period and a small petting zoo. I would encourage anyone who would like to explore more about the Amish culture to visit and experience of buggy ride. It is for all to enjoy young and old. We had a fun little horse call Sonic. If you see him before I do tell him hello :-)

Monica Kiker

We rode with an older gentleman named Earl, he did a wonderful job explaining Amish culture during the trip, we only took the short trip since we were leaving that day but we will definitely ride again with them when we visit the area next time. The buggy was a comfortable ride as well.

This was fantastic. Sam gave us a 2 mile ride for $10 per person. He was very friendly and informative and willing to answer all questions. He let one of the kids ride in front and drive for a bit. This was really all that was needed to get familiar with the Amish. If you're going to do just one thing in town, this is it. Loved it!

Jeannette Ross

We had an amazing day today with Lilian (our guide) and Charlie (the horse). We had to wait a little bit, but it was well worth it. We waited in their playground on the swing and fed the baby goats and ponies. We took the 6.5 mile ride and it was fascinating to hear Lilian describe the Amish way. We stopped at a bake shop along the way and it too, was awesome. Learned about the different farms, crafts, food, schools, and about the community. I would highly recommend this service!

Jeffrey Fitzgerald

Very cool getting a horse and buggy tour of the area. The tour guide was very informative.

Heleena West

Our family had a great visit. Our tour guide was Paul and he was very friendly and answered all of our questions. We just did the 2.5 mile buggy ride and really enjoyed it and it wasn’t expensive. Our 7 year old got to ride up front with Paul and at one point he let him hold the horse reins and showed him how to make turns, stop, etc. He loved every minute of it. Our family would definitely visit again. There was also a nice shaded playground there for the kids to play on while we waited for our turn to ride.

ANTONIO MOLINA

Awesome rides, big water park with little restrictions. Great for the fam!

Carla Marie

Sam was wonderful. We enjoyed talking to him. He's very knowledgeable.

Suril Khedia

We didn't want to ride the buggy that we were assigned so they changed to the one we requested without any fuss. Apart from that they have rides by miles and our driver who was nice guy gave us a good educational tour about the neighboring area and Amish which was a good experience along the ride.

Elizabeth M

The highlight of our trip! (And we did a lot of great things!)

Katja Wahrhaftig

We took a ride with Mr Sam today and he was extremely friendly and did a great job explaining the Amish culture and sights while riding through the beautiful countryside.

Sweet Pea

Paul was our buggy driver today. He was kind, informative, and very patient with my two young boys. I highly recommend this company, the buggy was also very clean. Paul provides a very personal experience in a limited time.

Chris Poette

The most fun you can have in Lancaster County!! An incredible value for being led on your personal journey (you don't share a buggy with anyone else) by an Amish person who is willing to answer your questions. What an opportunity! The buggys are in great shape and the horses are very happy and beautiful. This is the same experience I have had every time and this is my 6th visit! Also, the buggy operators work there for a long time - some are still there from 5+ years ago - which says a lot. There are miniature horses, a number of goats and chickens, too! You can buy cups of food at the counter for 25 cents and feed them from little cups. Very cool! There are comfortable places to sit in the shade while you await your buggy ride. A little playground for the kids too. You generally have to wait (depending on the time of year) because people know this is the best buggy experience around! I recommend the 3 mile ride. It says it's 30 mins which might seem long, but it goes by very quickly so the shorter ones are too short. Spend the extra $5 and get a fuller experience. Enjoy!!

K F

Good family run business. Had a nice time. Be prepared to wait an hour or so and then come back but you can just go to one of the shops on the road and return for your ride. Knowledgeable Amish tour guide was kind and answered all my questions. Thank you

Snehasish Bhattacharya

Debbie Jennings

My mother and I enjoyed it thoroughly our guide Paul was very knowledgeable friendly and I would recommend Abe's buggy rides to anyone thank you for such an enjoyable experience

Our driver was nice, but we truly didn't see much of anything awesome. Just rode around the streets. Boring. He took us right into the same area we were staying in and had already seen.

Kimberly Sharpe

Great for any age. Great

Rachel McCuen

Beautiful place! Family friendly and honest and upfront about the prices. No hidden costs or trickery. Beautiful farm to feed the animals perfect for kids. A must go to place!

Kim Hester

CHOOSE ABE'S...it's the best! We visited in September, 2016. We drove to several places within the area that seemed only to be concerned with packing in the people to make money. We chose Abe's because we felt that the ride offered the most Authentic Amish Ride, and we couldn't have been more satisfied. We chose the longest ride and Lillian was our driver. She was a wonderful driver and very informative of area locations, and didn't mind our questions!

GARY Foldhazy

Nice ride,petfriendly,and very informative!

Laurie Giff

What a wonderful opportunity to go through Lancaster in a buggy with Elmer, our Amish buggy driver and tour guide. Took the hour ride and enjoyed learning about the farms, jobs, school, and the Amish way of life. We also stopped at a little shop that had delicious ice cream, baked goods, and cute outdoor decorations. The hand rolled pretzels sold in the back lot were so amazingly fresh and tasty! Definitely would recommend Abe's Buggy Rides to anyone that would like to see and learn more about the Amish way of life. Thank you so much Elmer for answering all of of our many questions!!

Joshua MacDonald

I had never been on an Amish buggy ride. So glad I went. Our guide was amazing. She was open and very knowledgeable. If you’re in the area this seemed to be an authentic experience.

Lisa

Nice ride telling us about the properties as we drove by and answering our questions. Even let my kids “drive” for a few minutes. When we got there we had to wait 30 minutes for a driver but thankful for the small area with animal for kids to feed. Also got there while a blacksmith was redoing horse shoes which was interesting and something we had never seen before. He was also nice explaining the process and answering or questions.

uwldluvme21

Wonderful experience with our guide Abner. The horses were beautiful and well kept. The prices were fair and I would definitely recommend to anyone in the are. You also learn a little bit about their history and way of life.

Jeffrey Revock

Learned so much about the area. Paul was the best tour guide ever.

Eric Cleckler

4.5 years ago my wife and I stopped in Abe's for a Buggy ride on our honeymoon. We were blessed with having Paul as our driver. Now today we went back with our 2.5 year old son and coincidentally got Paul again as our driver. Paul was just as pleasant to have as last time and he was great with our son. He took a picture with him so that our son can remember him and we can come back again and take more pictures hoping Paul will still be driving. Thank you for welcoming us into your community. We are from a small island on the NC coast and understand that tourist can be fustrating at times. Highly recommend you visit here. Very Kid Friendly

bryan adams

My wife and I rode with Sam, he was very polite and happy to talk to us and tell us all about the area. Nice place!

Jason Simpkins

Sam was our driver and he was very nice. He even let our 5 year old sit up front and drive. I would recommend them. They even have a few animals you can pet and feed.

Judith Jamieson

We took the 20 minute ride. The horses were calm and well behaved. Our driver was full of information. It was fun

Leah Crouse

They provided a fun an authentic buggy ride experience. They also have a small petting zoo area for when you're waiting for your ride. The animals seem well taken care of.

Johnathan Kraus

I think I've been on all of them by now. But this one definitely was the worst and the most expensive by far. The best one I've been to Yantis the one at the red caboose. Definitely try that one out it's a much better experience and also much cheaper. I hate to give such a Negative low score feedback because I know these people are trying their best but we just absolutely were not satisfied with what we had it just felt very dull and boring and monotonous.

Alice Wellems

I took a group of 7 dear friends who were visiting from Colorado. Ervan was our driver, and he was wonderful! Very knowledgeable as he was born and raised in an Amish community himself. He allowed the two youngest kids in our group to sit up front and even drive the horse part of the trip, which they loved! With 3 kids in the group, there were plenty of questions, and Ervan happily answered them all. I recommend this to any family visiting Amish country.

David Reynolds

Great experience

Ashley Desamours

Great experience and price. Our tour guide pointed out some Amish homes, schools, and explained some differences between the Amish and Mennonites. They also have a free petting zoo.

Melanie Conover

Although the wait was long they had a cute little play area for kids.

Barak Greenfield

Fun, pleasant family activity. While waiting for the ride, one can sit on the swings and gliders. In fact, they manufacture swing sets for distribution to big name retailers. Buggy driver is available to talk about various facets of Amish life.
