We just got back from our Honeymoon to Sandals LaSource, Grenada and it was absolutely PERFECT- thanks to Tara at Active Travel! We had absolutely the best time. We were at first unsure of where we wanted to go, so we spoke with Tara about our interests/honeymoon priorities, and we couldn't have chosen a better place! Neither of us work the typical "9-5" schedule, and Tara was very willing to work around our schedules and was quick to reply with any questions we had, even though most of the time I was texting her in the evening or occasionally on weekends. She was SO sweet and helpful- we left for our honeymoon the night of our wedding, and she did the airline check-ins for us to save us some time and stress! I would highly recommend Tara at Active Travel to anyone with travel needs, and look forward to working with Tara in the near future.

Words cannot describe how terrific our experience was with Active Travel and it was all thanks to Tara! A honeymoon, let alone to the Rviera Maya was not something we thought we could afford. We told Tara our budget and our interests and she found us an amazing deal WITH direct flights!! She was so awesome to talk with and was always available even when our schedule didn't fit the typical 9-5. We were a little nervous with it being our first international trip and were suprised at how seamless the experience was. From leaving the airport to booking our excursions, everything was taken care of. I've recommended Tara to all of my engaged friends and we plan on using Active Travel for all our future vacations!

Jeannie left an entire group of 8 people at the airport stranded (their flight was canceled) so she could get a better flight and get to Aruba sooner. Wish I could say this was the only time her service was that bad. She also left another family that she had booked with that group (she piggy backed them on the large group so they could get the discount) at the airport and they were delayed two days. She gave one passenger the wrong flight info so that person missed her flight. She "booked an event" for a group of 20 but only had 5 seats reserved. She has to be the worst travel agent I have ever seen. Its seriously a joke.

Had travel emergency due to delayed flight and missed connecting flight and tried calling our travel agent Jeanie, no answer, called for over 4 hours and needed help. She books travel, takes payment then is done. If you need anything after the trip Is booked and paid for you’re out of luck. Very delayed email responses and returned calls. The Airline, cruise line, and other travelers all asked us, “who booked your flights? Never book cruise flights the day of and abosolutley never do day of with an hour and 50 minutes between connecting flights”. Every travel agent should know this we were told over and over for the 4-5 hours it took to hear back from her. If this were my business I would be making sure my customers were happy and if not, I’d offer to help make it right. Not here Update: Jeanie did come to my office a week or so ago. When I received the message she was in the lobby of my office I was very shocked because I didn’t know she was coming there. Kind of silly but I though her coming to my place of work, maybe she was presenting me with a replacement for our trip. She brought a card, gave a personal apology, and a dinner gift card. I was appreciative of the gesture however ,it didn’t replace the cost of losing 2.5 days of our cruise. The travel insurance website we bought also through them, says they only cover up to 500$. I submitted a claim. We will see what happens.... financially we lost around $2,500

My husband and I have traveled to Jamaica several times, but when our former TA quit her job, we were lost. We booked a return trip with the resort itself on our last trip and had nothing but problems. Lost and not knowing what to do, we found Jean at Active Travel and she has been amazing. She worked our reservation out, even got us some extra perks, found us some great airfare, and on top of all that, put up with my incessant questions and ranting. She took what was becoming a complete headache for us and made it the special trip, which is for my big 5-0 birthday, that were hoping for. Also, if she wasn't available, the rest of the people in the office were equally helpful and all were very personable and easy to work with. We are definitely going back in a few weeks to start plans for our 2016 trip!!!

I am a very well traveled 30 year old and haven't used a travel agent in my life. However, due to the complex nature of visiting Japan - I thought it may be worth a call. I always pass this agency on my way home so I thought it would be a convenient place to call. Even though I read several unfavorable reviews I decided to still pursue a relationship. Upon calling, I was asked for information pertaining to my trip and was told that they would reach back out in a few days to advise me on the package they would create for us. Long story short - it's been well over a month without any contact. I have already booked the trip for 4 completely on my own through vigorous research. The conclusion is that you can book any trip without a TA. Thanks 4 the callback.

We booked our honeymoon cruise through Jean and on day one it came off the rails. Weather delay at Chicago O’Hare made us miss our connection to Puerto Rico and thus missed the ship. Weather delay is no one’s fault, but trying to get a hold of Jean was a nightmare. We tried for hours to get a hold of her. Then when she finally called, all flights for the day were gone. We were stuck in Chicago and I rented a car and a hotel room. Day one of cruise gone. We had to fly into St. Thomas to catch the ship. It was late in the day by the time we went through the boarding process. Day two gone. We made the best of the rest of our honeymoon. We then found out our return flight home had been cancelled. More calls, emails, texts to Jean. No response. Finally an email with new flight info. No seat assignments. Emailed her again. No response. Went on to American Airline website to see our new seats were in different rows. I emailed Jean and told her to secure us seats in the exit row that were next to each other. No response. Got back to Puerto Rico and was shuttled straight to airport. Another day gone. Our 7 day cruise was basically 3, but we paid for 7 days. Our honeymoon was one cluster after another, but the thing that is most disturbing is Jean’s blasé, careless, cold attitude. Her final email to us was a link to file a claim and basically washed her hands of us. We will never use her services again. Buyer beware.

Working with Jeannie at Active Travel to book our honeymoon was one of the best decisions we've made. She helped price out numerous options and gave us very helpful recommendations on resorts/islands. Jeannie was able to get us a great price, as well as, guide us in the right direction to get us what we truly wanted for our honeymoon. She was there to notify us immediately of any flight changes, and when we ran into some trouble on our trip regarding a resort credit, she quickly sprung to action and had the issue resolved. Our trip to St. Lucia was amazing and we look forward to booking with Active Travel in the future.

Jeannie was very friendly and she helped my friend and I book our trip to Rome and Barcelona. We came to her with very little ideas and she prepared all of our tours and events. She was very knowledgeable in where to go and what to see.

My three girlfriends and I booked a trip through Tara at Grand Bahia Principe Tulum and it was absolutely fabulous! We had an amazing time and will definitely be back. The staff was very friendly and made sure you had everything you needed. The hotel was right on the beach with access to chairs and umbrellas. They had a 24 hour snack bar where you can drink and eat any time. The hotel had 3 pools and pool bars. They had entertainment at the hotel every night. The travel companies were also located in the hotel so we booked several excursions! I am planning a trip with my boyfriend this winter and will definitely use Active Travel! I referred all my friends to Tara!! Thanks, again!

My boyfriend and I wanted to plan a trip to Mexico or the Caribbean during the winter months. We had no idea exactly where to go. Jean, from Active Travel, was so helpful. She helped narrow it down for us and really gave us some good reviews on each of the hotels we were looking at. Overall, we are super excited and would definitely use Active Travel again!

Do not trust Jeannie (of Active Travel) with your money! She is a total scam artist. She sold my husband phony tickets to the Ohio State/Michigan State game, then ran off with our money (a lot of money). After standing in the rain waiting to get in the game, Ohio State stadium security informed us that the tickets had already been sold online and that Jeannie had sold us a duplicate, invalid version. When we attempted to contact her, she played dumb at first and then stopped answering our calls. We filed a police report with Columbus PD, but never got our money back. This woman is a CRIMINAL. DO NOT trust her with your personal financial information. I fear that her "travel agency" is a front for more scams--she is probably charging fees that go straight to her pocket book. As slimy as they come, this one, a real sleezeball. Steer clear of Jeannie unless you plan to be the next victim of identity theft, fraud or worse!!!!!

I was unsure about picking a travel agent, until I read all of the reviews about Active Travel. Our very first visit to Jeannie was amazing! We are not the "typical couple" looking for a honeymoon. We were very specific in what we wanted -- oceanfront, all inclusive, adults only, couples only and icy cold Coors Light. Yep -- that's a true story. we are known at active Travel as "the Coors Light couple". Do you know how difficult it is to have icy cold Coors Light available 24 hours/day outside of the US??? Jeannie made it happen. She was quick to respond to questions, is so knowlegable in her field, and my husband and I couldn't have been happier with the resort she recommended! Jeannie's service not only met, but exceeded our expectations!

Tarrah Henley

My husband and I worked with Tara at Active Travels. We actually found her at one of those bridal expos...she was doing her "spiel" and right away you can tell that this girl knows her stuff.. We started with a budget and told her our basic "must haves" in a honeymoon (privacy, good food, tropical). She recommended 3 different resorts but really helped us narrow it down to "the one" based on our preferences. We thought we wanted one room but she was able to sway us to a different one to better fit our needs...of course she was right. We went to Grenada and it was AMAZING. The food there was insane...oftentimes resort food is just okay. The locals were super friendly...it was very private...it was everything we ever wanted...and more! Tara was super responsive, knowledgeable and helpful. Would recommend her to anyone.

Jeannie’s communications skills are very poor. Trying to get in touch with Jeannie is a nightmare. You may call during business hours bus she’s unavailable, so staff says she’ll call you back. Well, hope you didn’t want to do anything relaxing before bed because she’ll call you after 9pm (I suppose this could be a perk depending on your schedule). If you call, maybe she’ll call you back, maybe she’ll text or email. She is very inconsistent with which medium she uses to get back to you which can be frustrating. There were several instances when I would call but she would email my husband or I would email her and she would text me instead. Some days my husband would call her and she’d call me back. This was very inefficient and made it difficult to keep everyone up to speed. In one instance, a friend who decided to book closer to the time of the wedding was going to book directly through Sandals. I encouraged her to go through Jeannie so that all the bookings could be in one place. Instead of replying to my friend in a business day or two, she waited nearly a week. By the time she got in touch, the rooms were sold out. Had my friend booked directly, she would have gotten a room. Jeannie failed to ensure rooms were booked for our family members despite them booking nearly a year in advance and paying a deposit. Jeannie called me less than 2 months from our wedding date to inform me that the four rooms we thought were reserved for our immediate family weren’t actually reserved. Oh and by the way, the resort is completely sold out for those dates. Not only was she aware of this problem weeks before she called, she waited to tell us with less than 2 months to go before the wedding. Instead of calling us immediately to let us know so we could start talking about alternatives, she waited until the situation was too far escalated. Ultimately we arranged to move our wedding and all guests to Sandals Whitehouse instead of Negril. This broke my heart as I was planning to get married where my husband proposed. My hopes for a stress free wedding planning process quickly turned into the opposite. Once the decision was made to change resorts, we essentially had to micromanage Jeannie to ensure all details were accurate moving forward. You would think after a fiasco like not booking the bride and groom’s parents, you would pay a little closer attention to details like room categories. Instead, we had to collect room category info from each guest and compare it to the new room categories. Of course there were discrepancies (room downgrades) and we had to tell her about them to get them corrected. At this point, it was more work having Jeannie involved in the process. Warning signs! We should have known to be extra diligent with keeping tabs on Jeannie when we changed our wedding date and she told us that we would have to pay an airline fee despite us paying for travel insurance. We bought the travel insurance per her suggestion on the off chance we needed to change dates. Though I’m sure Jeannine has a large number of clients, she consistently confused us with another couple and didn’t learn to associate our names with our specific destination wedding details until the room fiasco. We even referred over 18 people to book through her. She is far from organized and refused to accept blame for any of her mistakes. She had excuses for every mistake. She blamed the room booking failure on her wholesaler and blamed software outage on not booking my friend’s room when she first reached out to her. We had used Jeannine once before for a trip to Punta Cana, DR. We told her we were going with friends who had already booked. She ended up booking us at the wrong resort! She was luckily able to fix this, but we should have headed the signs. Overall we had an amazing destination wedding at Sandals Whitehouse and fabulous honeymoon at Sandals Ochi! It was difficult to leave and we are planning on going back. Next time though, we will book directly through Sandals; as we did our first time, without any issues.

Working with Jeannie at Active Travel to plan our honeymoon has been wonderful. Her knowledge of multiple destinations we were considering and advice for each one was extremely helpful. She helped answer every question we had as we narrowed down all the final details and we have never been more excited for a trip. Jeannie helped with every aspect and made the process very easy. My fiancée and I highly recommend calling Jeannie at Active Travel to plan your next vacation!!

Not good. I was looking for an alternative on a package deal for a week in London and needed some info within a few hours. I spoke to them late AM, had not heard anything by 2:22 pm and called. Jeanie had left the office and was supposed to be back in an hour. I called again at 4pm and Jeanie said said they needed another 40 minutes because rates were coming up too high for hotels..??? Not sure what takes an agent 40 minutes when we can look up hotel rates in 30 seconds. I called again around 6pm and they were gone. Thanks so much... I'm going with AAA no matter what their rate.

Jeanie was very helpful in planning my destination wedding. I originally went in for information about Sandals and walked out with a wedding and trip planned. The whole staff was very helpful and not pushy

I am a wedding and event planner in Columbus. Jean and her team have taken care of many of my clients, so it was only naturally that I go to her for our own family vacation. They were so patient as I changed dates and hotels a few different times. I will continue to recommend them!

We just planned a destination wedding in the Dominican Republic through Active Travel. If you're doing a destination wedding, you NEED to talk to Tara. She made our dream wedding happen! We really couldn't have done it without her. Active Travel made all of our guest arrangements and communicated with the resort to make sure everything went smoothly. Tara was able to give us guidance throughout the whole planning process. The whole trip was fabulous and much less stressful due to Tara's help. We were in contact frequently and any problems were taken care of quickly. We also got a great deal through Active Travel. Can't recommend them enough!
