The port here is very interesting. I can be a bit difficult to find, but the listed directions on the cruise line’s website help clarify things. When you pull up, they help you check your bags and tell you were to find parking. If you arrive really early for your cruise, you can shop at the outlet mall attached to the port and checking in and boarding the ship are all streamlined. I wish airports were as streamlined.

I've been on many cruises and various cruise lines. Ncl is different in that most of the decent food options are a fairly large additional charge. The standard food is mediocre at best and sometimes downright bad. The lack of available non alcoholic drinks is terrible as well. The primary function of this ship (beeakaway) was to upsell you on absolutely everything from food, drinks and even entertainment. You would think that the initial fare would be cheaper than other lines but it is definately not. So, higher fare, terrible food quality and offerings, very nice balcony cabins (but comparable to lower priced lines). The absolute best thing about our first, and honestly probably last, Ncl cruise was the rock of ages stage show. In addition, the alcohol consumption was off the charts on this trip. I understand having a drink but we were accosted by absolutely drunken shipmates starting at 10 am until bed time. Just very poor overall experience. Try offering decent food included in the original fare, try to at least curtail the drunken passengers by offering alcohol in the afternoon/evenings, and please add signage to the ship. It was almost impossible to know where lines began and for what purpose. Ok, I could write a book about our bad experiences on this cruise. Bottom line... spend your money on a different cruise... carnival is cheaper on the initial fare, food is better and you still have to deal with the same crowds and drunkards with equal quality cabins.

They seem to be going bigger but they haven't got the balance right. The ratio of guests to entertainment, pool, restaurant and shopping space is not right. They have more paying guests but less space for them on board Cost is climbing and they appear to be a little bit impersonal if I compare my latest cruise against previous trips with NCL. I will be travelling with them again, hoping that they have identified problems and got back to the levels they previously delivered, but it will help us decide on future cruises.

This Cruise line is my preferred, the ships are so large you can get away from people. Most people that cruise on this line are middle-aged not very many kids.

Love NCL....only way to cruise. They create a fun atmosphere and the staff is really nice. The food was excellent and Teppanyaki was wonderful. We had a great time on our 7 day to Western Carribean. The shows were excellant too. Definitly recommend for first time cruisers...you'll be hooked.

Worst customer service I've ever encountered. I made a reservation, NCL failed to notify me of my payment. When I checked to see they said my reservation was canceled for lack of payment. After quite a hassle they re-instated my reservation with full payment. When I got the email showing my payment it was for $300 more than my original reservation (and also $300 more than I could currently go online and make a new reservation). I protested and asked to re-instate my reservation at the original price. They refused. After several emails and phone calls and talking with 3 different supervisors they offered a $200 on board credit for compensation. I then threatened to contact my bankcard company and dispute the payment. They then offered to refund my money, which I took. My wife and I have traveled 9 times on NCL cruises and been responsible for over 50 friends and relatives cruising with us on NCL. We will never deal with NCL again. This is how they treat their regular customers - it's atrocious! There are plenty of other cruise lines available. Since this happened we and 6 others booked a cruise from the west coast and subsequently 4 of us have book a cruise to the Baltic. All this because NCL wouldn't try and make it right over their $300 mistake. We will never cruise on NCL again and encourage everyone we can to do the same. Don Clifton

I was a little disappointed I mean the ship was great but the workers wasnt to plesent especially when my room lady accused me of smoking in room when I'm not stupid I would not do that. She was also always knocking and waking us up when we was sleeping. She was just not to friendly. Also our luggage got lost and wasn't found till next morning and all the do is give you a shirt what are you going to do with a shirt? Then the food it was always the same thing breakfast and lunch was always the same the last night on ship was when they had everything different. And also everything closes at 8 I mean all the ships I have been on and hot tubs stay open will like midnight but not this ship you can't even get food after a certain time unless it is room service and you pay a service charge. So overall the ship is really nice but food and service not good at all.

This was my first time on NCL, it is officially my new home cruise line. The staff is top notch and they had the cleanest ship I've been on out of 16 cruises. The complimentary food choice are varied and numerous throughout the ship. Entertainment was great and the welcome party was extremely fun with lots of great music and dancing.

Terrible terrible terrible customer service! Imagine a cruise ship run by the staff of your local McDonalds after their manager went home for the night! As far as I can tell there are 3 types of employees hired by NCL; rude, indifferent and unintelligible. There is nothing quite like the experience of being flat out ignored by staff while they have private discussions amongst themselves or just look off into the middle distance while you repeat "excuse me" over and over again at louder and louder volumes. The NCL handbook must train the staff to answer vaguely and point in the general direction of the opposite end of the ship no matter the question. Quite humorously some of the non native English speakers really do seem to want to help but they are literally unintelligible no matter how often they repeat themselves or gesticulate wildly. The food at the buffet is certainly plentiful however it is definitely a question of quantity over quality. The free use restaurants aren’t much better. I would say the food is decidedly average but the portions are laughably small. The premium or reservation only restaurants do serve slightly better food and a decent portion but good luck getting a seat even when there are tables available. The drink service is a joke even with the alcohol or soda package you can expect 15 minutes to get any drink other than water. We booked a room with a balcony midship and it was a good size and reasonably modern however you could not run the water in the shower more than half power or the shower drain would over flow. The attendants did a reasonable job keeping the room tidy however there were instances when it took them the better part of a day to make up are room and one time where we returned to our cabin and found staff in it when we did not request them. Stay far far away from NCL they have too many problems in too many areas!

Just got home after a week’s cruise around the Caribbean on NCL ship Getaway. Ship is beautiful. Food was great especially in complimentary dining rooms. Service by staff was exemplary. Popular with families with young children. Enjoyed shows Burn the Floor and Duelling Pianos. Water slides were fun especially the one with the disappearing floor. Only complaint we had was our stateroom (14631) was on deck 14 right under the Garden Cafe kitchen. There were a lot of strange, loud noises during the night and early morning. Sounded like someone was dragging and dropping large items across the floor...and what sounded like a large person gyrating around in a bathtub. We let guest services know about these disturbing noises repeatedly. They sent us a complimentary cheese tray and bottle of wine which was nice of them but didn’t resolve the issue.

I have never seen or heard such rude workers. They made you feel they had better things to do. Our room smelled like mildew, sewer and dirty feet. We had a waitress push us to a sink to wash our hands after we had already got sanitizer sprayed on our hands. We had already gotten our food and found a table. We were not dirty looking. No reason for this. As soon as we got on the ship. We went to get a drink at the bar. We had a very bad experience. For one of the bartenders he scream at anyone that was not in his exact spot at the bar. Very very very rude. Was the whole time at the bar. We heard from everyone how rude and sarcastic the employees were. There were several guests that said they would not be sailing with this company AGAIN. I know we won't be. The places we went to were marvelous. The people were kind, helpful and full of information. I would go back in a minute.

Just did my first...and LAST NCL cruise. This was the worst cruise I have ever been on for customer service. Cabin was filthy; staff were unwelcoming and unfriendly throughout the cruise. Bar and dining service was terrible. If your're booking your first cruise, please do NOT book with NCL. If you already have, please don't give up the idea of cruising. Book your next cruise with Carnival or RCCL, and you will be treated like a VIP!

Meh. This was my first cruise and I really disliked being on the ship. I found out that I do not like traveling by ship.... it's just not my thing. I was sea sick, home sick and side effects of the motion sickness patch were bad for me. I DID like seeing the other countries. The rest of my family had a great time. We were there with a very large group of people for my uncle's 50th birthday and I know everyone else enjoyed themselves.... as for me..... I'm grateful for the experience and time with my family but I'll probably never cruise again.

Updated in 2017, the Pearl is a again beautiful ship.All public areas redone with great wall coverings and art. Decent sized rebuilt cabins with USB ports for charging, best storage on a cruise ship I've ever seen, and a redone bathroom with a shower you can actually move around in with sliding door rather than a useless curtain. Alaska cruise out of Seattle was fine except a good amount of movement on open Sea days at beginning and end affected some sensitive folk. And having the mandatory foreign country stop in Victoria the last evening is really not good, as you need to be packing if using normal disembarking process.

Rude bartenders, 10 minutes to get a drink! Way under staffed. Was able to get in pool once in 7 days, too many people, loud music ran me off the one day i was able to get in. Buffet was awful but specialty places were great! Entertainment was awsome. Everything cost extra even with dining package and drink package. Water was $6.60 a bottle not included in drink package! Charged $15 per day extra to clean room. Would never cruise with them again.

Very very limited cigar and pipe smoking (and cigarettes). Only two 100 square foot rooms (cigar lounge is inside and freezing and the one by the pool outside is in a separate small Glass room. Even those vaping can only do so in the smoking rooms Additionally the cigar only lounge is always packed with cigarette smokers. In general everything is restricted. Even cigarette smoking extremely restricted too. The breakaway does not have a very smooth ride, compared to my NCL cruise from New Orleans in June of 2011. Also not a very open floor plan, feels closed in. One positive the staff is extremely kind and positive. But I don't think I will cruise with NCL again. Very limited options for me to have fun based on my taste. Plus all kinds of extra charges and fees.

Really grateful time. Decent sized room for a ship. Food was better then Disney. Room was overall nicer though not quite as functional. Toilet and shower were same room while in Disney they separate. Similar price wise (Disney starts higher but more is included). I very much like being able to make reservations early for dinner rather than getting the second seating for dinner which we had on Disney. That was a little late for us and we could tailor the dining time our activities for the day. definitely make reservations for the no extra charge dining places wait before you get on the boat there were a number of people I heard talking that had to go very late because they couldn't find a reservation. if their services were a little bit better organized I probably would have given them five stars. They were just a little more disorganized and confused than Disney was. Overall I would say if you have kids over 12 years old go with Norwegian under 8 go with Disney. In the middle it's a toss up.

Overall wasn't real impressed. I know everyone has different experiences but mine wasn't the best. Not a whole lot to do on board, poor planning for times at ports (super early in the morning or late at night) not a huge food variety, and not a great ship layout.

I know I know a 3 star review for a cruise line...how cliche that something went wrong. For real, I had a genuinely grand time on excursions. I don't like that the cruise line has such a stringent policy on allowing children unfettered access to the parents charge account. We should be able to set up a cash account for our kids to use, not let them charge, charge, charge. Yes, we can tell our kids "don't spend money" But when those kids are around other kids and the excitement is in the air, their little brains are on overload, of course they swipe their key card. Come on NCL do better. Give parents more freedom with setting up children's accounts. That alone is why I deduct two stars, I don't need added stress while traveling.

We just got back from a 7 day cruise on the Breakaway- what a great trip! We stayed in a mini suite #14758 it had plenty of room with a big bathroom. Because we were on the 14th deck, our room included all week access to the thermal suite - yes, you need the thermal suite!!!! ☺ If your room doesn't include it, you can pay $199 for the week. The best restaurants were La Cucina and Cagneys. Worst - Sheehan's Pub and room service! If you get room service, stick to cold items, sandwiches, etc. Anything warm will arrive ice cold and there are no microwaves in rooms. All rooms with a balcony have coffee makers with coffee. We got the unlimited drink package- the alcohol flows freely and are great! Our favorite bar was Shakers. Spice h20 is nice as well. Bingo is fun!

What a bummer free style cruising is a joke.!.! Free style must mean you have to take care of yourself. Unfriendly staff for the most part, pool deck closed early every day hardly any entertainment. Buffet was not to bad,complementary restaurants have nearly the same menu. The whole 10 day cruise was nothing but guests complaining about there experience. Cruised to Bermuda (only there 3 days).Housekeeper (GLORIA)robbed us of our bus & ferry passes, (2nd afternoon). Went to buy more passes, place was closed. So, had no transportation our last night there. Had to go buy new passes on last morning to go SOMEWHERE. Only had a lityle time before having to board ship to leave. Smoking from casino deck could be smelled all over boat. Nicely appointed boat though and staff was great all around. Food was hit or miss at buffet, the open restaurants were always better and sevice was usually very prompt.

As an experienced cruiser of over 20 cruises on various cruise lines, including Norwegian, Carnival, and Royal Caribbean, I have never experienced the disappointment I am currently experiencing on the Norwegian Breakaway out of Miami on July 7, 2019. Admittedly, we booked this cruise last minute due to unforeseen circumstances and a vacation commitment to my family. I usually book balcony rooms but none was available on this last minute booking. I booked what I was told were the last two remaining interior rooms at an elevated price, no last minute bargains, of almost $2,000 per cabin, with none of the free perks usually offered by Norwegian. I felt it was an egregious price when booked, but assumed it would at least be a decent stateroom at that price, even if interior. It actually turned out not to really be a stateroom at all. It is more like a closet that is not much larger than the bed, with virtually no space to even unpack or store your clothes and suitcases. Once on board I tried to upgrade our rooms but was told coldly by Customer Service, with no empathy at all, that no upgrade was available. I am sure they are jaded from everyone who books an interior cabin on this ship begging for an upgrade once they find out how how tiny the room is. At this point, no matter how good the rest of the cruise goes, I will always feel totally ripped off by Norwegian. They should not even design cabins this small and spartan, much less overprice them. My previous cruise on Norwegian was decent but not exceptional, even with a balcony room. There are many better choices in this price range. If you feel you must book on Norwegian, which I cannot now recommend, I would suggest you NEVER book an interior cabin unless you get an exceptionally low rate, get ALL the free perks, are not claustrophobic, and do not care about ocean views. At least then you may get a little closer to what you pay for.

Norweigian breakaway ship. Very clean and nice...i think any cruise ship u get tired of the food but they switched up the themes every night at the buffet.. there was only one adult pool which was not enough for 4000 ppl on one ship....there could be more entertainment. But definitely the rope course and waterslides are a must do and very fun

It was our first cruise ever and it was incredibly fun. We did a lot of drinking and gambling. They didn't offer our favorite table game, but other than that. It was a blast. Great staff and amenities. Balcony cabin was definitely large enough for my wife and I.

NCL Breakaway out of New Orleans. Difficult ground access to port, budget 2 hours if arriving by private car. Cruise itself was worst NCL cruise I have ever been on. Customer service was lower than expected, food was average and specialty restaurants took a minimum of 2 hours for a not memorable meal.

The service was not at the level to be expected from NCL. Pre reserved shows were canceled and rescheduled with no notice prior to boarding ship, we had 6 specialty dining package and could only use 5 as they were sold out once boarded. In addition the Tender process to the private island needs great assistance. We waited in a long line 35 minutes long to walk in theater and wait another 30 minutes once our reserved tender letter was called. The pool area is small with one pool for 4,000 guests. On the plus side all of the food was great and we arrived and departed every port early or on time. Would not recommend the Breakaway from NCL.

We went for 7 days on our honeymoon. We have traveled with Norwegian before on the escape and it was awesome. The break away was a dirty nasty ship. The food was at best a 2 star. Two restaurants where very good. The noddle bar excellent. And cagney's was good. Our room was a good size our cleaning person not so much. Found out after the cruise this ship was flooded and with salt water from getting caught up in a bad storm heading back to NY. You can YouTube videos and see for yourself. My partner has traveled with Norwegian many times before. We ordered Rose's and champagne with chocolate covered strawberries for when we arrived at our stateroom. The Rose's where beautiful the champagne wasn't even in ice and no champagne glasses? No strawberries until we ask and then didn't get them until after 10 PM. The balcony was a nice size except it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. We did two shows and both where amazing. The casino dont waste your money. The bar on the pool deck closes at 7:30. ? Is why? If you smoke good luck with that. Very disappointed

I am NOT happy. I am currently as of cruise day #6, (June 5, 2019) on the cruise ship Gem, sailing from Boston to Bermuda 7 days. I am on a company trip with 150+ people whom I know personally. (Two have Haven Suites.) Day 1 - Two of my 3 pieces of luggage have been broken. One the carpenter "repaired". Sure, it is functional but the glue used on my black suit case was white. It looked like trash, so I sent it back to at least paint the glue to match the suitcase. Luggage piece two that was broken can not be repaired by anyone on this ship. I now have an insurance claim to possibly be reimbursed at some point. (Who knows.) Day 2 & 3 - I opted to upgrade to the premium drink package. This package was $243 above the unlimited drink package offered with the room. I was advised by guest services a $300 hold would be placed on my card on file. I agreed. So on day 3 on the island I go to use my card and my purchase is declined. After spending 45 minutes in a foreign country trying to get ahold of my bank with no cell phone. I am told a $900 hold was placed on my card. Guest services then tells me it is an automatic charge and cannot be altered. I just do not understand how they can do that to someone without prior consent. Day 6 - At 4am after a long night I attempt to take a shower. The water is ice cold. Guest services sends a plumber. After a 10 minute wait, he fixes the issue in about 20 minutes. Not to bad, however it was 4:30am and I am now more exhausted than I originally had been. I would like to mention every employee I spoke with was polite and knowledgeable. However, I have spent many hours either walking or standing at guest services. Did I mention this is my first cruise, and that I am here with 150+ people. (I am in room 8068).

Nice trip, AWESOME crew, EXCELENT service, shore excursions (over priced), Shows must be booked ahead of time (and beware, you might have to pay extra for it), drink package (doesn't include water unless they served in a glass [...?]), internet package (only 250 minutes or ...). So, to much money for a cruise I had spend less money going to Italy 15 days everything included. I'm giving 4 stars just because of the impeccable service we had, the people that works on those ships really make the difference. Thank you Vishal, Manolo, Vicky and all of the service staff at the Breakaway.

Norwegian said free shore excursion with our package. I thought this was pre ticket. It was $50 credit good for one person. So, it’s not free and you have to leave the other guess behind? It’s just another example of a scam.

Most unfriendly crew on the seas. Never going on Norwegian cruise line's again. Shows over booked. The only ones we were able to go to we booked on line. Bars didn't open until late and then there were long lines. Could not get drink service in any bar. Had to wait along time for drinks at the bars. Wait staff was rude, snarky, and no one gave you a smile. To crowded to do much of anything. They made ugly remarks about carnival being the Wal-Mart of the seas. But if you have every been on a carnival cruise. I know you had a good time. Friendliest ships on the water.
