Although the logistics were extremely complicated involving multiple cities, guides, flights, and accommodations, everything worked like clockwork without a hitch. Knowmad Adventures has planned three trips for an adventurous group of Minnesota friends. The trips were in Argentina, Chile and Ecuador. Knowmad has consistently provided excellent guides, excellent accommodations and suggested activities that were enjoyed by all. The team arranged unusual experiences that would not be found on many prescribed trips, such as a hike led by a local shaman who explained the flora, fauna and the local legends. A guided tour of the High Altitude Museum in Salta was set up with the archeologist who participated in the digs. We couldn’t have been happier with the result and many members of the group continue to rave about the incredible trips that Knowmad provides. Keep up the good work!

If you can find the right travel agent with local experience it is well worth hiring them, and Knowmad knows the area. Jordan designed a very individualized trip for us that was totally different from what we had been looking at with other tour companies. His local knowledge was invaluable in making sure we focused our trip in the right places. We made five stops in chile, with transportation, hotels, bike trips, rafting, guides, in home meals and restaurants. The plans worked flawlessly, we were really pleased with the people he hired to work for us, and we still consider this to be our best family trip ever. Renee helped to plan our trip to Galapagos for my husband and me aboard the Petrel with 14 other passengers. The trip more than met our expectations. We snorkeled, hiked and saw all the animals we had hoped to see in their natural habitat. Enjoyed all the other passengers immensely. On her recommendation, we arrived in Quito a few days early and drove North(with driver and guide) to Hacienda Zuleta high in the Andes where we hiked, rode lovely well trained horses, took cooking classes and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. 3 nights and 4 days was the perfect amount of time. We just returned from Peru 5 days ago. The trip was simply amazing. Our hike on the Inca trail to Machu Picchu was nothing less than spectacular. Our Knowmad guide Miguel insured we never walked with crowds, had semi private accommodations at each camp site and was very knowledgeable about all we experienced along the way. Our Machu Picchu tour was extensive and detailed. Miguel went the extra mile for our small group and found a person to do our laundry on a holiday and had a massage parlor open early to accommodate us even though they were booked. Horseback riding in the foothills of the Andes was an experience I will never forget. After riding all morning we were treated to a fresh cooked meal under cover with a beautifully set table and a view of the Andes. Our Kayak trip to Tequil Island can only be described as spiritual. The quiet, calm water of Titicaca and tranquil surroundings left me inspired. The island and the indigenous family we stayed with were so warm and inviting. We finished up in Lima with a culinary and artistic three day stay at Second Home Peru. This eclectic hotel, home and art studio has a beautiful view of the Pacific from high above the coast. All of the details of this trip were spot on - handled professionally when we were in Peru which made the trip most enjoyable and stress free. My wife and I just did a private-guided Peru trip which was a customized version of the Peru Classic and Adventure trips put together by Renee Davies. We toured Cusco, The Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu as well as spots in between. I have to say that we were blown away by the level of service, kindness and knowledge that was bestowed upon us. The visit to the Amaru village for lunch, agriculture and textiles was surreal! The guided mountain bike excursion near Moray with picnic lunch overlooking the Andes was out of this world and the cooking experience with visit to the San Pedro Market in Cusco was intimate and special. Jordan and Knowmad have planned and organized two trips for us (retired male couple). The first was to Peru and the second to Chile and Argentina -- each one of four weeks. Although well-traveled in other parts of the world, we had not previously been anywhere in South America. On the 3rd day, I became extremely ill with altitude sickness. Instead of going kayaking on Lake Titicaca as planned, they helped me get to the nearest airport to get home safely. Our group of 18 just returned from two weeks in Peru on a Knowmad Adventures trip: Inca Trail & Beyond and Kayaking Lake Titicaca. It's tough to write a review when you know that you just don't have the language to precisely describe how amazing our trip was. Knowmad Adventures planned the trip of a lifetime for us to Chile and Easter Island! This trip was to celebrate my 50th birthday, and every single thing that was planned had "us written all over it". Here's what I mean by that. I spoke to Jordan at the beginning, and he asked me lots of questions about what we wanted to see, what kinds of accommodations we liked, and the activity level we wanted, etc. Everything that was in our itinerary was 100% PERFECT for us! My husband and I had a trip of a lifetime and are recommending Knowmad Adventures to everyone! We did the Inca Trail and Beyond Honeymoon package exploring Cusco, Amaru, The 4-day Incan Trail hike and one day in Machu Picchu Pueblo. The day spent in Amaru was the first highlight. It enhanced the trip and gave us an insiders peek at the native culture which is one of the reasons we had selected Knowmad out of the mass of travel agencies available. The villagers had prepared demonstrations of their agriculture and textile customs that astounded us and made the day very memorable. The 4 day hike was another highlight and what pushed this trip from amazing to over the top trip of a lifetime. We received 5-star treatment throughout the whole excursion from the guides and porters from ExploreAndes. The scenic landscape was breathtaking - My husband and I fell in love with the terrain and had a blast exploring the ancient ruins along the way. Arriving to Machu Picchu on the last day of the hike was a surreal experience that pictures don't do justice. We were treated exceptionally well throughout the trip. Each accommodation had it's own special offering and beautiful people who graciously shared their culture while treating us to the best that Peru has to offer. The commitment to sustainability throughout the trip was apparent and vital to preserving the area which was another important factor that made the experience that much better. Knowmad Adventures succeeded in making us travelers, not tourists and I am very grateful for that. We used Knowmad's service in May of 2017 to travel to Peru and the Amazon. Jordan was able to accommodate nine of us w/out any issues. He and his team answered all our questions, pulled permits and assist w/any and every request we had. Not only did we receive a trip of lifetime, but w/Knowmad, we received excellent customer service, history lessons, and outstanding food while on our trip. We had a glitch in our travel to the Amazon, which in turn we lost one day and excursions, but they made it right and it was seamless, which made us roll w/the punches and it just made it a part of our experience and something to talk about later. I will be traveling back to South America, next time Argentina and will be sure to use Knowmad Adventures. They are pros at what they do and the best in the business!
