Nice big camping sites.

except for Mosquitoes, all is good, wave pool is even better than The Dells

Rating is for the trail system, from the perspective of a trail runner. There's lots of well maintained grass and asphalt trails for running. You won't be bumping into people all the time. Definitely one of my favorites in the North Metro. Also has pretty good hiking, but watch out for poison ivy.

Diana Snow

Some very nice shady and private campsites. Clean shower building. Water and electricity hookups for RVs. Close to Bunker Beach.

WE LOVE THIS CAMPGROUND! It's been over ten years our family has come here, and we will keep coming back. Five stars, despite some concerns (see below). CAMPSITE: Over the years they have expanded and improved the sites. We have our regular one we love, but the expansion has meant a new and improved shower house! As well as other features too. WILDLIFE: You are camping, there is going to be wildlife! We saw dear on the bike trail! Heard wolves/coyotes in the distance (in Andover?!?!)! What was the worst was the whippoorwill bird at 4am. It's camping though, so even though we've heard this little guy before, we come back. SHOWER WARNING: We had a bad experience with the older shower house. If you press the button, and the water doesn't get hotter, or its already hot and doesn't get cooler, just go over to the new shower house. I talked to one of their guys who said they will look into changing it up... we will see. GROUPSITE: The group site has water and electric hookups, but you can't pull your car or RV in... that just doesn't make sense. I'd like to see them change that, at least for loading and unloading. However, it does have a ton of room for many families or groups of friends. CARETAKER (2016): The caretaker this year is not as friendly as the previous one. Not everyone can be friendly, but they should realize these people are part of the face of this place. It's great to have this campsite here in the suburbs. Believe it or not, we live an hour from Canada now and drive down to camp here because when we did live here we found out about it and still love it so much!

Nice area, quiet. Water and electric, they have a dump station at the beginning of the sites. This campground is not big rig friendly - the sites and roads are very narrow. We had to very carefully get through to our site which was thankfully one of the pull throughs (site 43). This park has a lot of things to do here.

I love this place it was the best ever

Liza Timmers

Beautiful campground close to many fun activities and trails. I’d rate it a 5 if the showers had warm water.

I've camped here twice and enjoyed it both times. This most recent visit (late August 2018) there was a marching band practicing or something nearby in the early morning. That was a bummer, but understandable based on the location. We had a secluded campsite, which I loved. There are fire pits and the sites are clean on arrival. We got a TON of firewood for the money and ended up leaving some for the next campers. The bathrooms and showers are clean, although it can take a bit for the water to get warm. Also, the showers are the type that automatically turn off which I suppose is efficient.

Spent one weekend here and went to the water park for the day. It's a really nice park and the kids insist we come back. Nice trails for biking on and large sites.

Easy to register for sites using website. The campgrounds are spaced nicely in order to prevent the feeling of being crowded. Trails are well maintained and parking lots are also in very good shape. Located in suburbs, it is isolated enough to get the feeling of being away from all the hustle and bussle.

For being our FIRST time(ever), with a pull behind It was easy to get into, easy to check in, the campsite was clean, and easy to exit. I will definitely suggest Bunker Hills Campground to any and everyone. Thanks for making our very first camping trip a successful on.

So far, so good. I'm currently in my third of 7 days here. I reserved a spot usually for campers, but I am in a tent so that I have running water and electricity if I want it. The trails are well-maintained, and the restrooms have showers - those are clean as well. No complaints. A simple, satisfying environment.

Great little campground, so close to home. But don't tell anyone. Don't want this place to get too busy ; ) Right now it's almost empty on weekdays.

Great park, totally worth the 6 bucks to get a day pass. There is camping, bike trails, a water park, play grounds, a vet memorial, and a majority of the area is covered with oak trees. Its beautiful and super fun.

Visiting my sister in law there. The people at the visitors center were very helpful.

Love this Campground very secluded sites

Don't ever camp here. Sites are not properly labeled and park rangers are rude as hell, they dont even know not give you directions to your campground.

Designated Driver

Best place to take the family for a weekend of camping and fun. Staff is very professional and courteous.

Robert Krause

This is a nice family friendly Campground with plenty of trails and playgrounds to keep the little ones busy. Location is ideal as it is near Coon Rapids, Minnesota, allowing for quick errand runs. Campsites are sufficiently spaced apart to allow for a more private experience. However, campsites are close enough to accommodate groups wanting to camp together. Firewood is available for a reasonable price costing $5 for a bundle of seven logs. Bringing in outside firewood is not allowed. Friendly and accommodating staff.

They call this a campground but it really isn't a campground. It's a place where you don't have to go very far and think you're camping out. There are many rules and it's very gentrified. There are mostly paved paths which are not good for dog walking. It's an OK place but I wouldn't give it more than 1 star.

Katelyn Runyan

Very helpful staff. Easy to navigate. Overall just pretty great!

Very nice campground! A lot of space between sites. We had a problem with our 5th wheel and the camp host was great in helping us. Can't say enough good things about this campground

So this was my first visit to Bunker Hill campground... The gals in the office were more than friendly and helpful to me.. and the other campers were as cool as i could possibly imagine... I was able to take a warm shower without any interruption and take a night hike through not only the paved trails, but also through the mowed trails throughout the grounds.. I did not get a chance to go into the water park yet, but I will make it a point to check it out soon with my children and any of my friends who want to join us... Besides all I've mentioned so far, the tent sites offer seclusion if you want it, but also are close enough to the other sites, that a camping community gathering of sorts can easily take place as well, which in my case, I thought was as cool as could be... There were some really loud night birds which made me feel like I was somewhere way out in the wilderness, even though we are right there camping in Blaine.. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Bunker Hills campground and suggest a visit for anyone who wants to get out and camp without a long drive because it's so close to the cities...

I really wanted to like this campground. My thought was that it is right next to a water park and stables, so how could it go wrong? It's quite hard to rate a piece of ground in the woods, but there were a few things the campground could do better which would make a stay there more enjoyable, and make people want to return. During my stay, I happened to speak to 3 people. All 3 people had the same complaint. There is only one trash receptacle in the campground. Every night you have to store your trash in the car or drive it to the front of the campground. I don't mind putting the trash in my car, but most campgrounds have a trash receptacle near the bathrooms or designated areas that you can walk your trash to. I found this really frustrating as did the other people I spoke with. There are no garbage cans in the bathrooms. You can't throw away a Q-tip or a Kleenex. Why? I imagine it's a hassle for their cleaners as they clean up people's trash that they've left behind. For Pete's sake, put a garbage can on the bathroom. I know you can't control nature, but my site was under an oak tree. All day, all night I was being pelted with acorns - not enjoyable. All night I listened to acorns hit my tent. Drove us crazy. The wood for purchase - because you can't bring would your own wood into most campgrounds - was wet and very sappy. It was awful to burn. I should say it was awful to "try" to burn, because it didn't burn. It was terrible and required a lot of work just to keep a flame. This put a damper on campfires. Did I mention I bought the wood? We heard a gunshot around 10pm one night (not in immediate area, but not too far off either). Not the camp's fault, but it was unnerving. And nope, not thunder or firecrackers. I'm a military retiree and know what a gunshot sounds like. Being there with just me and my kids made it spooky. Again, not the camp's fault - I know. Biggest complaints were garbage receptacle location and bad wood. Please address these. It's so simple to fix.

Pros: Cleanest bathrooms ever The most spacious campsites we've ever experienced Paved trails Near by waterpark and stables Cons:Nonkilned campfire wood Campfire pits could be better Overall we had a great experience here. All staff were wonderful. Great activities to keep the kids entertained. Close to the twin cities metro. Definitely will come back soon.

Our family is doing a cross-country awareness drive for our son who has Angelman syndrome. We left South Dakota and drove straight to this camp site to meet with other families that have Angelman syndrome. We were only supposed to be here for one night but unfortunately I had an accident and was put in the hospital. I am ok but I have to be here for three days and I called the park to explain that my wife can't hook up the trailer and move it. I asked if they could please let me pay for two more nights and they said that they couldn't due to the spot was reserved. I then asked if they had other spots and they said all the spots around me were open but the one we were in was reserved. I explained the situation and asked if they could call whoever reserved the spot and let them know the situation and explain that I would pay their fee's if they could take another site so that my wife and son could stay there. They declined. Instead they said I had to have the travel trailer moved within 45 minutes (11AM) or it would be towed. I couldn't believe the APATHY that was shown. I spoke with a manager and he let me have three more hours but also stated nothing could be done. I called two different RV companies to try to hire someone to go help us but couldn't find anyone. Thankfully, we had a local person who helped us but we moved to a different park. There is no WAY I would stay here, no matter how beautiful it is, 100% due to their apathy.
