We took the team on an afternoon cruise for a fun company outing. Had done some of these through other companies on the lake in the past; in comparison, Al & Almas raises the bar. I think our yacht was named Bella Vista. VERY nice, comfortable, and clean, inside and out. Full bar, big outdoor deck, nice air conditioned dining area, spacious bathrooms...had it all for any type of guest or occasion. We had 86 people show up on a plan of 125, but there would have been plenty of room for all 125. Service was incredible! Very attentive to their guests and made sure everyone had what they needed throughout the trip. Food was excellent as well. We did a bunch of appetizers. All well presented in an easy to access and classy looking buffet. Hats off to Al & Almas for doing it right! Will definitely book again next time we go.

I was asked to take photos for a family wedding reception. I would suggest top side for the best light with the beautiful sunset for the best photo, especially for groups. The only unfortunate part of the cruise was the food and drinks. They ran out of appraisers before everyone was served and the drinks were slow coming out to the point we were told "we are done serving now.". I did stop by the bar and it was the same response. The buffet was OK. Music was nice. Great way to socialize. The crew was nice. Maybe under staff.

We had a company event in August, 2013. The office staff and crew at Al and Alma's were wonderful to work with; very well organized. Our ship captain gave an excellent history of Lake Minnetonka. The food and service was great. The crew members went above and beyond our needs. Everyone had a really good time....we couldn't have asked for a better evening! A big thanks to you all!

I worked with Al & Almas on a private sunset cruise birthday party event. I was planning on having 25 guests and we rode on the yacht Avenir. Here are the pros and cons of the whole experience: PROS: - The captain (Captain Luke) and bartender were superb. They allowed me to get on board a few minutes early to set up balloons and drop the goodie bags in the fridge. The lady bartender was super proactive - she kept checking on people, brought out waters, took plates, etc. The captain was really professional, knowledgeable and fun to be around. I was seriously impressed with the two of them. They both offered to help carry out stuff, answered questions, and were really approachable. They asked when I'd like the food and dessert to get served, whether I'd like them to pause at times to give a brief tour/interesting facts of the houses on the lake. I can't say enough kind things about the both of them - everyone was impressed with them two. - Their speaker system was nice. I was able to connect with a Spotify account and a bluetooth connector. Most of the music was in the downstairs area and it didn't overpower any conversations people were having on the top area. - The view was beautiful on Lake Minnetonka. Most people chose to sit upstairs - the cushions were comfortable and the breeze was lovely. We went at the perfect speed. - There was a young man in the parking lot who confirmed which event we were here for and directed us to the parking spot. My guests or I did not have any problems parking. CONS: - I was misquoted the price during the event planning process. Initially they quoted 1170 for the boat w/about 20-25 guests. This price does not involve the gas surcharge, state tax and 18% fee. This bumped up the price to 1600+. The 18% service fee also does not directly go to the captain and the bartender - they only get 1/4 of that. I wish my event planner was more clear about the variation in price. - There was no AC. It was a really hot day so I sweat quite a bit. It would have been nice to have an area to cool down in. - The 2 bathrooms are tiny. The stairs are very narrow and I advised my guests to use the bathroom at the restaurant before departing. - I also was really dissatisfied with the qualify of the food, especially because I paid extra for the herb crusted chicken + BBQ Ribs. That was probably the worst chicken I've had in my life (too "well done", mushy). You could also tell that the salad was not fresh - croutons were mushy, the baked potato was OK. I would recommend choosing a daytime private cruise because you don't need to select a dinner menu then. I was expecting the food to be way better. --------- All in all, my guests did have a lot of fun and a big part of that is due to the Captain and the bartender that enhanced the experience. If it wasn't for them, I would be rating this place lower.

My husband and I enjoyed ourselves immensely on the Sips and Sights cruise on the evening of 8/8. The seats on the yacht were convenient and comfortable with sofa style seating all around the outside of the upper deck. The ride was smooth and pleasant. The captain did a great job! The food was a variety of unique and delicious hor derves. I particularly enjoyed the avocado salad and fresh fruit. Kate was one of the top deck waitresses and she served everyone with a smile. She made sure to be visible during the entire cruise and went out of her way to make sure everyone's needs were met. The only down side to this experience (otherwise 5 stars) was our encounters with Sydney the other top deck waitress. Shortly after departure I was thirsty and asked her for a glass of ice water. 25 minutes later after she had made the rounds of the top deck I flagged her down again asking for a glass of water. She made a face but assured me she would bring it, which she did about 10 minutes later. This caught my notice and I began watching her further. Throughout the remainder of the cruise she remained almost completely at the front of the boat, flirting with the captain in a very obvious way. I felt sorry for Kate, who did the remainder of the drinks rounds, clearing the dishes after the buffet, and serving dessert almost entirely alone. For every trip Sydney made down to the main deck, poor Kate made at least 5 or 6. I give Kate a lot of credit for all the work she did with a cheerful and welcoming attitude. I hope her dedication is appreciated. Overall a very nice experience, would definitely go again.

We were lucky and participated on a public cruise on a great day, not too hot or cold. We attended one of their Sunday brunches. The food tasted great! A couple things to note, if it is a nice day, get in line early for an outside table. There are a limited amount. The bartenders are super nice but there are not enough for a full boat. For the buffet, they ask that you only take one serving of anything to ensure there is enough for everyone. Once everyone has gone through, they will offer 2nds. They point out a few places on the cruise, but overall just a nice meal on the water!

Our dinner cruise reservation got lost in a system glitch but Jay offered to get us on another one since we were visiting from out of town and had a kid-free date night. Jesse and Sarah graciously added us to their cruise and were wonderful. The cruise was beautiful and the food was great. Awesome experience, we’ll definitely be back (hopefully with reservations!

A very beautiful restaurant, clean and well maintained. The staff were very responsive in checking up on us and the wait time was acceptable. Variety of foods offered here, along with special delivery for certain foods. They also offer a free docking service if you plan to travel there on a boat.

We took a public sunset dinner cruise on Lake Minnetonka for a bachelorette party and everyone had a great time. We were on a smaller boat, as the larger boat was reserved for a private wedding. Overall, the cruise was very good. The food quality was excellent, the drinks were well made, and our servers on the boat were phenomenal - they really went above and beyond to ensure everyone's drinks were full and people were happy. The downside - there were only a few tables up on deck, so many people had to eat with plates in their laps (not easy to do when on a boat and dinner is ribs). The captain was pointing out houses and giving information about locations around the lake, but I think we would have just preferred to turn up some music and cruise. Although I think some of the older crowd enjoyed the tour info. Maybe offer some cruises that are more sightseeing, and some that are just relaxing/ cruising? Overall a good experience, but I do think the big boat experience would have been preferred. Thanks!

They even referred us to a local band as an option for entertainment on our cruise! All of the staff members that we worked with, including the staff on the cruise, were professional and courteous. I went on the fireworks dinner cruise on the Bella Vista over Labor Day weekend and everything was excellent! All of the crew, including a girl named Marilee, were VERY friendly and attentive. It started out as 5 stars. I was there for a wedding cruise and the whole evening went really well. Food was good and the cruise very pleasant. After leaving the establishment, I didn't realize I lost my tie until I got home. I knew I had dropped it in the parking lot so I gave a call to see if they can help look for it. It's a tie with sentimental value. So when I asked the staff who picked up the phone, it was a response I wasn't expecting. They came off extremely rude and was taken aback that they were even expected to look for a tie. They proceeded to tell their coworkers and laughed at me over the phone without a second thought. To say the least, I felt extremely humiliated. I've never been treated with so little respect over a simple request. That employee was extremely unprofessional in the way she responded. It definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. Customer service is definitely 0 stars. I will never go there again. Post review 9/11/2017: The general manager, Jay reached out to me and clarified and apologized for the unfortunate event. He was even able to find my tie! Aside from unruly customers posing as staff members, I am updating my rating back to 5 stars.

I had my bachelorette party with Al and Alma's a few days ago! It was great! It was a very windy day but the driver Murphy did a fantastic job trying to get us out of the waves and into calmer waters! He also gave some great info on some famous houses around the lake! Our hostess Morgan was awesome! Making sure everyone had everything they needed! I also went on the boat today for a work outing and again, it was great! We had Morgan as the hostess and Jesse as the driver of the boat! He also did a fantastic job and was very informative! The staff is overall wonderful to work with, they care about everyone and making sure they are having a great time out on the water! It was a great experience and I would highly recommend them! I can't wait to go back!

Did a dinner and fireworks cruise with family in town. The fireworks were for Spirit of the Lake festival. The staff was very attentive and the captain did a great job getting us a great place to view the fireworks. The food was a buffer of: BBQ chicken, pork spare ribs, rolls, potatoes au gratin, salad, 7 layer dip, and some dessert bars (brownie, turtle, lemon). Nothing spectacular but it was tasty and better than the standard buffet. I would recommend buying the drink tickets or wrist band for non alcoholic drinks. Would recommend this cruise.

So today I was an idiot and didn't buy a ticket. I called, Holt answered, he went above and beyond to make sure I could get a ticket for me AND the guy I was supposed to buy a ticket for. It only got better from there! We arrived on the boat to an incredible crew and a wonderful captain. Jesse made sure to make our trip one we will not forget. He was knowledgeable and charismatic the entire trip. The crew below deck, Lexi & Brianna, were just as exceptional. Making every trip to the bar a reason to come back again. The dinner was great and the crew helped make the overcast day a special outing with fantastic people. I want to thank the entire staff @ Al & Alma's for helping our trip on Minnetonka a memorable one.

The captain told us a little bit about a few homes as we made our way around the lake. The sunset was beautiful! It was a bit chilly, but overall we enjoyed the evening. The cruise was phenomenal! I went on the Sunset Jazz Cruise and I had a great time with a groups of friends. The food was delicious! Open bar, drinks round the clock. The music was great. My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner at Al & Alma's Supper Club. It was my first visit since I went out on one of their boats with many others for prom dinner in high school and I wish I'd not stayed away so long, based on our wonderful experience last night! The ambience was wonderful - with a view of Lake Minnetonka (although frozen over), a fireplace and a beautiful wooden building. The food was spectacular. We both had the walleye and the entrees and sides were very tasty. The waitress was very friendly and she made sure to always keep our drinks full and the food was delivered quickly after a tasty bowl full of breads. The dessert, a slice of homemade turtle ice cream pie, was excellent. You'll enjoy your visit, should you choose to dine at Al & Alma's, and we look forward to returning soon!

We recently took a cruise around Lake Minnetonka for a client event and it was a huge success! Outside of the great weather, the staff was amazing! Hannah, TJ and Sarah were very friendly and laid back with our guests but also professional and attentive. Definitely would recommend them as a crew if you can get them(we were on the "Isabella" if that matters). TJ gave a great commentary and history about many of the properties around the lake which was fun and educational. The drink selection was was very large and Hannah can mix anything you want! We had both the chicken or walleye as a food option which was good, followed by dessert. Overall, would highly recommend Al & Alma's and the crew, especially for a company or client event. The two hour time frame was good for this type of setting and everyone had a really good time from all the feedback we received.

Fantastic! Pleasantly surprised! I was worried that this restaurant would just coast on name recognition. I was SO wrong! Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was fantastic! The fish tacos were very good, and the shrimp in my pomorodo were huge! On Thursdays, the special is the ribs and chicken for $14, and it is a lot of food. Everything was great, and the prices were reasonable.

We brought a small group (about 40 people) of our company out on Isabella for a celebration. From the moment the boat pulled up it was a fantastic experience! Our crew consisted of Morgan, Elisa and Captain TJ, they were fantastic and kept the group having a great time! I highly recommend these tours to any one looking to get a group of people together rain or shine, we will be back!

My husband and I recently had our rehearsal dinner on one of Al and Alma's boat cruises. We, our friends, and our family had an amazing experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and the prime rib we had for dinner was EXCELLENT. So many of our guests are stilling telling us how much fun they had. Our captain was able to answer any questions we had about different lake properties, but made it fun and interesting and did not drone on and on. It was such a beautiful day and we had great experience!

Our whole group had an excellent time. The salmon fillet and salad served were delicious. Staff were pleasant and helpful and bar drinks were reasonably priced. We enjoyed the experience. The only drawback that came up was the pasta ran short so a few of those who don't enjoy fish were left a little hungry.

We had our wedding on the BellaVista and catered 65 people. We were able to get a DJ to play as well on the boat. The wedding and reception was held on the boat and unlike some of there other boats, the BellaVista has a huge indoor and outdoor upstairs including a huge dining area downstairs. The captain was very generous to time and making sure everyone who was invited had time to get to the boat as we were running late. The food was great as it's the same food services from there restaurant. The boat cruise also has caters to help serve and assist with guests. Jamie (owner) assisted wherever needed to make sure our wedding was perfect. We were allowed to set the tables to our like and hang lights and bring flowers on the boat. If you are looking for a great cruise or an event on the water, Al and Almas boating cruise is what I would suggest.

This was our first time taking a sunset cruise on Lake Minnetonka. It was pleasant - you can't beat being out on a lake at sunset in the summer! The boat was very nice and well-maintained. The crew was friendly and helpful. We had 2 captains, and one walked around talking with guests and providing some interesting history. Over the bar, there is a display with a map of the lake, showing where you are in real time. That was cool. The food was forgettable. Ribs, fried chicken, au gratin potatoes, salad, rolls, chips. Seemed a bit heavy for summer! I stuck with salad and chips, so I can't comment on the quality of the rest. Advice: Get there a little early to get in line to board so you can have your choice of seating. We were on the Arabella. It has two levels: Lower level is all indoor seating, has a bar, and is where the food is. Upper level has some indoor and some outdoor seating, plus another bar. We were lucky to snag one of the outdoor tables, which filled fast! It was such a gorgeous evening, we didn't want to be inside! More advice: If you're there for the views, sit on the starboard, or right side of the boat. The cruise tends to hug the shoreline on that side so it you want views of the homes, you won't have anyone in your way. Also, by the time you turn around to head back, you'll have the sunset on your side.

Did a Fourth of July bbq lunch cruise. Staff was wonderful, very attentive and polite. Salads were good but the fried chicken and bbq ribs were terrible. Chicken extremely overcooked and clearly made earlier and partially reheated. Ribs tasted awful, texture like pot roast

The cruise was amazing! We did a fireworks cruise for spirit of the lakes festival. The captain Jesse was great. The music was good. He was very knowledgeable about the lakes. He did an awesome job navigating a tight area with a lot of smaller boats in the dark. We had a great view of fireworks. The price was reasonable & I would highly recommend a cruise with them. It didn't get 5 stars because 1 of the wait staff worked herself to death while the other stood by the captain most of the night (maybe training?) The food was pretty awful. It actually made all 3 of us ill. NOT call an ambulance bad but upset tummies for 24 hours bad. I will go again though. DO-cruise. Update: I went on another cruise & I have to say, the food was much better. So I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that the last experience was just an off night for them. If I manage to get to one more cruise this summer, that will be my tiebreaker & I'll edit as needed.
