This place was Packed on a Tuesday lunch - can't even imagine how busy it gets on the weekends. Cool little building though - and the park around it is great as well.

Small visitor center. Picked up some brochures. We had wanted to take a guided tour, but they started later so we hoofed it ourselves. They do have discount tickets for the trolly tours here. I recommend the trolly as you can hop on and off all day.

Great spot to pick up a guide pamphlet and kickoff your freedom Trail self guided tour

Loved it. It was a while since I've been back and had to catch up with my kids. Excellent vacation time.

Extremely knowledgeable guide, but it was difficult for 11 and 12 yr old to stay engaged during the long, historical accounts at each stop. Large group plus street noise made it difficult to hear.

We got answers to our questions and my daughter got herself a lovely snow globe as a souvenir... We didn’t find it easy to find though even with the help of our phone... unfortunately I didn’t take a picture of the actual center. Thanks for the nice welcome!

Nice park and the folks there are very helpful.

In front of the visitor center, you will notice a red line. This is the beginning of the Freedom Trail. It is roughly 2 miles walk with historic buildings along the way. The information center also provides tour guides to walk around the Commons and nearby historical locations in the city. The center is small and does have bathrooms and most importantly two water bubbler with a bottle fill dispenser outside for those warm days..

We started our tour of Boston Common with the Visitors Center. Our Freedom Tour would start in an hour, so we walked around the Common, looking at the war memorial, the pond, and the carousel. Ice cream was bought for $5 for two ice cream treats. At the next hour, our Freedom Tour began. We had an hour and a half, visiting the new City Hall, the first school, Faneuil Hall, the Boston graveyard and Massacre site. We tipped our guide for the funny interpretations and insightful dialogue.

Heather Boldman

Very small, crowded and a freedom trail map is costly. Do your online research for the trail and skip this stop!

Ben Yorke

Very friendly staff who were helpful in their explanation and kicked off a great walking tour of the city. We bought the $7 guide and thought it was worth it for the extra tidbits of information and context it provided for what you were seeing. I would recommend it.

Nice place to go with the kids or your dog. The highlight would be seeing the state building and going when the food vendors are there. Otherwise, it can be boring but worth taking in to say you've been there. It's sort of the central part of Boston. The trolley car tours usually pick up and drop off here during the day. Like any big city park, you'll witness homelessness and thugs.

The visitor center is on the edge of one of the more ambitious and beautiful city parks to come out of the public works era. Spreading for acres, the sprawling fields and winding paths make for a pleasant afternoon walk.

Not far from the Park Street T Station is the Boston Common Visitor Centre, which is open daily from 8.30am to 5pm (Monday - Friday) and 9am to 5pm (Saturday - Sunday). We visited in the early morning before it was busy here. Staff seemed helpful in providing free maps and information for the Freedom Trail. You can visit the attractions on your own or sign up for a tour at the Visitor Centre, being escorted by a guide as you make your way through the collection of historical attractions included as part of the Freedom Trail. In addition to Freedom Trail information, we found plenty of brochures for other sightseeing options in Boston as well as typical souvenirs (magnets, postcards) that would be worth purchasing here in order to support the city parks. Note: There are some interesting statues just outside the Visitors Centre. These are the Learning, Religion and Industry bronze and granite figures created in 1961by sculptor Adio di Biccari and architect Arcangelo Cascieri. They are neat to see if you enjoy sightseeing of monuments.

It is a great place to go and kill some time before a a mid-day show or take a break from shopping. They have cheap ice skating in the winter, and swan boat rides in the summer. Overall a great place to visit.

(Translated by Google) FREEDOM TRAIL self-guided tour kick-off - just follow the red tiles and you'll be taken to several historical sites that are very relevant to the history of American independence. You can get a free map from the Visitor Center and if you want to look at my site, you can also print the guide in Portuguese that I posted in the Freedom Trail post. Take at least 3 hours to do the whole tour (enthusiasts can take it all day!). Oh, and be aware that some tour stops have free guided tours!

(Translated by Google) Excellent, beautiful park for a simple sitting down of trousers. There is nothing to do there, except to walk around. But I do not care. For people from the Post-Soviet Union, the park will become the center of life. And the weather of Boston is beautiful, it's a pleasure to spend time in this park for me. But if you want to spend time more active, or look at something more interesting - do not waste time.
