Great experience getting certified with Abyss Scuba! Bart and Dan were both excellent teachers. Classes were small and I was able to schedule when it was convenient for me. They were very knowledgeable and I cannot wait to continue my education.

I just completed part one of my PADI Open Water certification with this shop and it was a great experience. Bart, the owner, has a great passion for diving and seems to just want to allow others to enjoy it as much as he does. They have really small classes (max 6 usually), use good quality equipment for the pool training, and were able to schedule my classes very quickly so I can get my cert before my upcoming trip. Bart was our instructor for the day and kept the pool training relaxed without trivializing our nervousness/concerns. They didn't expect us to bring any of our own gear, didn't push any retail, and didn't kill us with hidden costs. It seemed like they had a well a curated selection of scuba gear for sale and I would definitely buy from them if I decide to commit to diving. Overall, highly recommend Abyss!

Great Experience Dan was our instructor and was great. Informative, helped with any concept not fully understood and was patient with all of us in the pool! They have really small classes....we had 5 in our class and were give good quality equipment for the pool training. Dan kept the pool training relaxed and helped me to get over my fear of pulling out my regulator and learning to put it back in. By the end of pool day, I could do it like a pro! They didn't expect us to bring any of our own gear, didn't push any retail, and there were no hidden costs. Bart scheduled everything and was always available to answer questions before we started our certification process. Highly recommend Abyss!

I paid for 2 confined certifications and then had a major family emergency, so had to cancel my class. It was about eight months before things calmed down enough to reschedule, but I was finally able to email Bart and ask when he had a class available. I've emailed him multiple times and he hasn't even been courteous enough to respond. Very disappointing and frustrating.

Great prices and an even better experience! Bart was very knowledgeable and obviously LOVES everything scuba. The classes were the perfect amount of time, not too long but not too short. He answered every question we had (even if they were stupid questions) and took his time explaining and making sure we understood everything! 100% recommend getting certified here!!

PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. Bought a Groupon for a certification package for a gift, but when we called to schedule we were told that it would be an extra $260+ above what was listed on both Groupon and the Abyss website. The description of the package is misleading, which doesn't speak well to the integrity of those running this business. I doubt that the additional $260 would be the end of the costs, as it appears that this business aims to nickel and dime their customers at every turn. I would have been happy to pay the full amount if they were upfront about those costs, but I have little faith in their integrity and in turn, don't trust that they will provide a safe environment for diving.

Some of the best prices on classes in the area. They can order almost anything not on-hand in the retail area. All of the different instructors have been fantastic!

Completed my coursework and confined dives through Abyss. The owner Bart was fantastic. He is extremely passionate about diving and enjoys to share his stories which are encouraging and inspiring. I left the shop with my coursework and was very excited. Prior to I was still undecided. The shop was flexible and created a class that fit my needs prior to vacation, which was amazing. They were also the least expensive! My instructor Dan was patient and encouraging as well. You can tell he genuinely loves teaching. I left feeling confident and ready for my open water dives on vacation and cannot wait to look into dive travel options with them!

This is a great place to learn scuba! Thanks to Abyss Scuba, I'M HOOKED! The instructors are professional, fun, and truly enjoy teaching how to scuba dive.

First of all I never review companies unless I feel really screwed. I bought 2 PEDI certificates on Groupon for $264. It’s was a gift for my boyfriends birthday. Bart’s ad on Groupon says it’s only an additional $85 per person for rental gear in addition to what I paid on Groupon. Ehhh NOT EVEN CLOSE. Besides being way more than that, prices are different in the winter vs summer (understandably, but should be noted). It’s like an additional $300- $500 per person to get certified. BE AWARE. On top of the Groupon price. I couldn’t really be sure bc when I spoke with him he mentioned another charge too after the classes... ehhh wha??? I’m so irritated and feel like I was almost swindled because of the way he has mislead the Groupon. Like the other 1 star review, I will DEFINITELY take my business elsewhere. If it costs $800 per person to get certified? Ok great!! List it out, tell me where my money is going and I will pay. But to NOT do that???? Not sure how he’s helping his local business by not being clear about ALL charges. He’s just going to make people mad. Sorry Bart I’m sure you have a great scuba business but you are not doing yourself any favors by hiding all the costs.
