Great way to see San Francisco. 23 stops. We got off at Golden Gate Bridge for 2 hours. Busses roll every 30 minutes. Take the blue line to see whole city.

Paul Rearden

Concept is great, and a nice comprehensive route of stops. Concerns are that there is nobody checking tickets after a few stops, exact location of stops is tricky (if you choose to walk between stops), and in the afternoon we waited almost 2 hours for a bus at about mid-route and then had 2 come by full. Will try a different tour next time.

Allison Squires

If I could give this zero stars, I would. Spent $200 to be abandoned at the Palace of Fine Arts. Waited an hour for a bus, only to have to spend even more money to use Uber to get back to the hotel. Save your money!

Patrick D.

BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!! We made hop on hop off tours all over the world, and this is the worst one out there When you buy the tickets they tell you they drive every half an hour. Actual wait time much longer. Do not use them if you intend to leave the bus!! Appears they operate only one bus for the entire route. Waste of money, better take Uber between the stops

Chase Vaseleou

Good route, live tour is much better then recorded. Buses were pretty used and not in good shape. Employees were very nice. Buses were always late and twice the bus never showed up. Word of caution if you are planning on getting the last bus it might not come.

Susan Koser

I was horribly disappointed in the buses, the first two we caught (one at Union Sq at 9AM) did not have guides, as advertised on the website. Half of the headphone jacks didn’t work, so we ended up sharing headphones. The buses were running much closer to 30 minutes than the advertised 15. Then when we took the bus leaving the pier, they told us we had to get off and check into the office several blocks away. How dumb is that! Then when we get back to the bus, we had to go into an office (after waiting in yet another line) and get the “bar code read”. Dumbest practice I can imagine, and extremely inconvenient for the customers. Overall, it was a terrible experience. I am planning to tell everyone I know.

richard newton

Horrible Experience. It was a Sunday and the buses were not running on time with wait time 45 mins to an hour. Unprofessional driver screaming at customers to grab head phones and stay seated. Afraid to get off at some stops given the seedy areas near various stops and long wait times for next bus. Condition of most of the buses was poor. Rain came on our final adventure of the day with water leaking into the covered area on the lower level. We eventually had to be transferred to another bus. This was a total rip off and not worth the money.

We love hop on hop off buses when we’re only going to be in a city for a short time. We’ve used this company in other places with no issues. However, this experience in SFO was sub par. It was confusing since they merged with another company, the waits were longer than usual and one tour guide was extremely rude to us. However, we happened upon an empty bus with Suzanne and Johnny and they were fantastic! Suzanne was so knowledgeable and captivating, we didn’t even want to leave the bus. She was excellent. My rating would have been much lower had it not been for that duo.

Emma Shumway

Absolutely terrible service and incompetence. Do not waste your time or money.

Ann Atwater

Awful speaker. He made repeated unfunny jokes instead of informing us about the city. We got off after one stop and didn’t finish the tour. Stay away.

Majd Khaldi

The guide (think name was Robert) and driver Mo were fantastic and made the tour both pleasant and informative. On the other hand, the office staff on Columbus ave. were hopeless at best. Gave me completely wrong information when asked where the buses begin the tour, making me lose 30 mins waiting for the next bus during the one day I had to explore San Francisco.

Bryan Rose

Had a mixed experience. In-town tours were excellent. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and entertaining. The Golden Gate/Sausalito leg of the tour was a disaster. No buses for hours as we watched 5 of their competitors go by. The driver showed up 2 hours late then stopped for 15 minutes to take a smoke break. She was very rude to multiple passengers. She was yelling so loudly she attracted the attention of the police. Bear in mind I understand SF traffic, I understand delays. I'm simply very disappointed that they have no way to communicate delays when you call in asking for a bus. I'm disgusted by the way their driver was treating paying customers by yelling at them and telling them to call the office if they have a concern.

Oakley Weddle

So upset in the clarity of your website and employees! Misrepresentation on website/main office about your hours. Missed the whole thing by thirty minutes and the employee offered no refund and was apathetic and gave all but useless info. Bitterly disappointed.

Good tour ride

Guilherme Dornelas

There was no communication that the City Sightseeing had fused with the Big Bus company, so we spent almost an hour looking for a bus that didn't existed. When we finally we entered the buses, they were old, hot and super full... These guys are milking the cow and provide no comfort. The employees were really friendly, but it didn't compensate the $100 dollars for a few rides. Driving my rented car would have costed the same but a lot more comfortable.

Marco Ponton

Their website sucks on a mobile. The real-time tracker was broken for our whole stay. The website said to call to confirm bus schedule but nobody answers. One of the buses broke at the Science Academy stop. One of the trolley almost hurt us while we were riding it and ripped part of the side of the bus in the tunnel to the green/red line transfer. Finally at stop 1 tonight their people add us wait in line after the last bus left until we asked them if another one was coming. Finally, it’s expensive, the buses don’t run for long and not that often. We’ve taken such buses in multiple cities. This was the very worst experience. The only good thing they have for them and worth that star I gave them just for himself is Willy, one of their driver. Coolest dude in town.

why dont we fan wdw

If you want to be yelled at by the tour guide for laughing, talking or children oohing and ahing at the amazing city views then this is for you. No having fun allowed. To be fare the tour guide on our sister bus seemed very nice but since we got the old grump tour guide we were miserable. Ending up getting into an argument with the guide when i got fed up with him telling all our kids to be quite every time they made a noise. Worst experience as a tourist i have ever had. Sent a complaint to the company, its been weeks and still no reply. Dont waste your money.

Todd Nelson

Tour guide was awesome! You have to do this if you don't know the city well. A great way to see the city.

Jonathan Graham

Such a pity that City Sightseeing decided to green light having full side bus advertisements that cause very limited viewing through windows on rainy days. I understand the need for income from Activision but it totally spoilt the tour.We couldn't go upstairs due to rain and could barely see through the windows. A total disappointment compared to their other great city tours I have been on. An awful experience on an otherwise great trip to the city.

János Dézsi

On some buses they have reserved seats for guests. They humiliated us in front of a bus when we dared to sit on someone else's seat. They have way too few buses for the city. They make you leave the bus just to board the very same bus again because of no reason. They completely ruined our vacation in SF. We wasted a lot of time because of them in this insanely overpriced and seriously overrated city. And one more thing. They expect to be tipped for everything here. We tip when we're satisfied with a service and not by default. And definitely not this time... We did tours on hop-on hop-off in LA, Dubai, Glasgow, Toronto, Rome, and more. This in SF was the worst of the worst. Takeaway from the SF trip: take the recent(!) reviews on hotels, restaurants and services seriously.

Sheryl Horstman

I caught the bus at stop 6 of union square. It was incredibly hot, and there was no shade. It was a mess. It was Pride weekend and the hottest day so far, like 80 or more... So we are waiting, and waiting, and waiting. There is a bus sitting there, but we can't take it. Stop 6 seems to be the place to catch all these tour buses, and several of those operators had buses sitting there empty too. Supposedly there was traffic along the line, like between the first stop and ours. When the bus FINALLY came, I asked the girl next to me (who had gotten on at the first stop) if there had been traffic, she said no. No one knew what was going on, and it was chaos. It would not have been so bad, if there had been any shelter from the sun. It also would have been nice if all those people standing around with official tee shirts had bothered to tell us we could walk on block to the other side of Union Park and catch the bus at stop 18. Instead, they said we would have to walk over some hill. When I asked if I could just return my ticket and skip it, I was told I would have to go all the way to Fisherman's Wharf. My suggestion is that the company needs to train its people a bit better, and tell them to not make things up wholesale. Once on the bus, it went well, and was a nice trip.

Abbey Pint

Awful experience. Absolutely advise against this company. Incredibly rude, and had to change buses three times within an hour. Didn't deliver anything they promised. Terrible. Would love a refund.

Micah Hill

The pickup/dropoff locations aren't visibly marked anywhere in San Fran, they don't make stops a requirement either, so if you might be expecting to get picked up at one of their "stops" along the way, it's entirely possible the bus will go right by you unless someone already on the bus wanted to stop there. The schedules are inconsistent, and drivers will sometimes even skip stop areas entirely to avoid traffic. To see a lot of the city quickly, this is a bargain, but consider the hop-on hop-off piece of this to be very tongue-in-cheek.

Kiely Carpenter

Bus schedule is very poor. They skip stops because they can't stay on time. That said, people sitting and waiting would have no idea the bus is bypassing the pickup location. I would recommend one of the other city tour bus companies if you desire doing this type of tour in SF.

Martin Kozlowski

They doesn't have signals in the bus stops and also the bus doesn't stop in all of them. The frequency between buses could be 30min or more. The tourist guides are very funny makes the trip good.

Paul Taylor

Absolutely appalling service. They cancelled the red line at the last minute (with no reduction in price). We watched multiple arguments between staff and passengers. The buses don't actually follow the roads shown on their map on the website. We waited an hour near pier 39 and no bus showed. Despite the fact that the voucher from an online ticket sale explicitly says that it can be redeemed onboard, multiple staff told us that we actually had to go to their main office (6 blocks away) to convert it to a paper ticket. A single star for the lovely lady who processed my refund.

Alexander Belikoff

This company is happy to oversell the tickets by a big margin. We specifically asked about capacity when buying tickets and they assured us that there are always spare seats. Lo and behold - when we tried to board the first bus, we were told there were no seats left. OK, had to wait for the next bus (30 min). That one got filled to capacity after 2 stops as well. Fast forward - 4:30 pm, we are trying to hop on the bus and it's full as well! We had a choice of either standing until someone hope off or waiting for another 30 min. We close standing on the bus and "enjoyed" the same story on each stop - people trying to board our bus only to be told to wait. Guides are also very uneven. The first guide was very knowledgeable and practically showered us with historical, architectural, and cultural information about every building or street corner. The other one preferred crude jokes about bodily functions and drugs. Overall, not recommended.

Janice Robin

We went into the office to pick up our tickets. The Phillipino lady behind the desk was extremely rude and impatient. As this is our first trip to San Francisco all the way from Australia we really don't know our way around. We got the 72 hr hop on and off bus plus Alcatraz. I didn't know which was the closes bus stop to our hotel so I asked if she could show me on the map but she wouldn't. I then asked her where the 7D experience was which was included in the price and she said across the road. When we got out there was a park across the road. We later asked a local where it was and they directed us to the place which was about a 10 min walk so, so much for being across the road. She was just horrible to us. She really shouldn't be working there if she is obviously not happy to help people.

We decided to use City Sightseeing Buses to take us to Muir Woods. We had planned to get to the woods early in order to see everything. We should have expected trouble from the minute we met the rude clerk at reception. Service was rather slow also. We literally had five minutes to cross a couple of streets to join a huge queue. Worse still there was not even enough seats for us. We were a group of seven and had spent a couple of hundred pounds on transport to Muir Woods. We were told to go on a bus and had to get three different buses to get to Muir Woods. We arrived at Muir Woods at 12.00 which was 3 hours before we originally intended. I have never experienced such poor service. 0/5

Kate Said

It was one of the worst experiences I've had with a tour bus:( not on time or scheduled, left on the stops for long period of time! We were never picked up by golden gate and the last bus never showed up. Had to ask all other tour companies to give us a courtesy rides back to town and use city bus to get back to the union square to get back to our hotel! I had a 2 days pass with all different sights and only was able to get on the right bus 3 times on the red line and blue lines never a available. If it wasn't for all the other nice drivers in different tours to give us lifts and using uber in between, we would have been stranded many times. If I could get my money back I would! Great waste of $115 spent:((

Brian Mitchell

When the tour guide said she had only lived in San Francisco for 5 months at the very beginning of our trip I knew we were in trouble. Not a good first impression for the business of actually “guiding” tourists through the history of the city your paid to know. My wife and I were both car sick by the time we got to Muir Woods due to the “one handed” driving of the guide/bus driver trying to maneuver the road and hold a microphone at the same time. She talked more about herself and her personal beliefs than she did about any of the sights we were seeing. I can’t believe the concierge at Hotel Zephyr recommended this place.

Bob Corlett

Buy another service. This one runs way less frequently than advertised, staff is rude and untrained, very confusing ticketing process, hard to understand where they stop, when they run...we were told we could buy online and use the code on any bus. Wrong. Then they told us to go walk 5 blocks to another location to get a paper ticket (but that address was wrong). Then we got there and they gave us paper, we walked to the bus and were told "that paper is not a ticket it is a voucher, now go wait over there for a ticket." Meanwhile the bus left (and nobody ever scanned the ticket once in 2 days) We were given bad instructions at every point. Meanwhile lots of buses from other tour operators whizzed right by. We took well over two hours on day one to finally catch a bus and do paperwork, rode the bus maybe 20 minutes, and walked the rest of the day. The next day the line was so long we took an Uber instead, only catching the bus hours later. All in, we used Uber more than this service.

David Luchin

If all you want is a guided tour of the city, it's not bad, assuming you get one of the good tour guides (Deborah was one of the best I've had anywhere). But, you're paying a premium for "hop on/hop off" service, and they are blisteringly incompetent at being a hop on. Buses don't run often enough to hop off and rejoin more than twice, if it's even possible to get back on. They sell more tickets than they have space for, so that's far from guaranteed. We went with this company because their package included tours to Sausalito and Muir Woods. This was a huge mistake. Taking the first bus to Muir Woods in the morning, we were on the second bus back to Sausalito; their routes require Muir Woods -> Sausalito, Sausalito -> Golden Gate Bridge, and then around the majority of the city loop. By purest luck, we arrived at Sausalito seconds before the bus to Golden Gate departed (you'd think that would be coordinated, but we were repeatedly told "we won't know if you can make your transfer until we get there and look"). Upon arriving at Golden Gate, we immediately got in line for the city loop. This was a wonderful vantage point from which to watch every other tour operator (and the Muni) to send bus after bus. When a bus did finally arrive, there was room for five people, out of at least fifty in the line. The driver had zero sympathy, responding to complaints with a surly "you should have joined at the beginning of the tour!" This is a completely unacceptable attitude for an operator that both advertises as a hop on/hop off, and runs routes that *require* customers to join a tour in the middle. They claimed that they were sending an empty bus to arrive in 10-15 minutes. It did not arrive. We did manage to squeeze on to the next normal bus (most of the line was, again, not that lucky), which arrived after the hourly Sausalito bus had returned. It took 2.5 hours from leaving Muir Woods to get back onto the city loop. Some City Sightseeing employees claimed the delays were due to unexpected traffic, but at least five Gray Line buses arrived between CS buses. Gray Line will be getting all of our tour business in the future.

Its was a horrible experience rude customer service I waited for a 1 and half just for a bus and when I ask when the next bus coming they didnt have an answer for me don't waste your time just take uber

Hayley

Was overall reasonably pleased with the quality of this tour until came the end. The tour guide 'Beth' advised us that for our 90 minute tour which cost us $23 each, it was customary to tip $20 EACH. As someone who has been in the US for five months I know for a fact that a tip that size is grossly excessive. I am disgusted that they would prey on tourist's ignorance in this way. They are operating a scam. Avoid.

Rebecca Asbury

Don’t do it!! I usually ignore reviews because people are hard to please but I’d really like my $ back on this one. Rude, unorganized & frustrating. Not my idea of a fun vacation tour.

Stephanie DeAvila

Horrible service here. The tour buses over sell so many tickets you may not be able to catch a bus due to no space available. We waited over an hour to catch a bus and when calling customer service was simply told "it's summer, we are busy" you would think to staff more buses during the summer. They sell tickets at pier 39 so people buy tickets without researching the company. I would suggest looking at reviews before buying tickets. We saw 3-4 buses for the gray line city tour bus pass by before getting our bus and they had plenty of seating available. You may want to check out that company first.

Always a good experience no matter where in the world you are.

FALSE ADVERTISING - Paid for 3 day tickets for 4 tours and only got 2 day tickets for 3 tours. Do not use City Sightseeing San Fran whose partner is Skyline Sightseeing and operate with the Big Bus Tours. Our family of 6 purchased 3 day Hop-On Hop-Off tickets with the Alcatraz Package via City Sight Seeing San Fran whose partner at the time was City Tours San Francisco. We went to San Fran at the start of June 2019. On our voucher it detailed that we were to redeem it at City Sightseeing 1331 Columbus Avenue, however when we went there to collect our tickets it was not the City Sightseeing office. We asked around, and found out that they had moved months ago to Taylor St. It was very bad that we were not informed of the office move. We went to the new office to collect our tickets, this office was branded Skyline Sightseeing - we received here more vouchers, ones for Alcatraz that we were doing that day, and the others branded Skyline Sightseeing. We had a great afternoon at Alcatraz however the day was soon ruined when we had to collect tickets, we kept looking round for Skyline buses, however could not see anything with the exception of Big Bus. We spoke to a few people and we worked out that Big Bus Tours was the bus company for Skyline and City Sightseeing. We went to Jefferson St/Mason St, the office of the Big Bus Tours and also stop 1 - a conductor was on the pavement, we gave him our vouchers and he printed us a roll of paper which had the 6 tickets contained within it. We quickly jumped on the bus and when I was going through the ticket, I noticed that it only had 2 day bus passes on it. I quickly ran down the stairs of the bus and said to the conductor, he told me they don't offer that ticket anymore and its only a 2 day pass. I went into the office and said to the manager, they informed me that they no longer offer it - instead they do a two day pass with Madame Taussauds tickets, we said we don't to go there as we have seen it in London. He snatched my tickets, and started going through the roll ripping parts out - this was the Taussauds tickets. I jumped on the bus as my family shouted that it was going and I told them I would be in touch. I drafted an email while on the bus, therefore missing all the sites - on closer inspection I noticed that the original ticket detailed 4 tours, 'Official City Tour, Park and Zoo Tour, Sausalito Tour and the Night Tour however on the maps there was no Park and Zoo Tour. They had dropped one of the tours that we really wanted to see, where they did not notify us. I checked on the terms and conditions of the Worldwide City Sightseeing website where it detailed that if the tours were to change they should publish it - this did not happen, as I searched their social media. I reached out to the company on chat and via email, I even tried ringing them however once you are on hold for 45 minutes and it cuts you to voicemail you are never hearing back from them. In the end we didn't even get to do the Night Tour, as we had planned to do that on the third night as we had plans for the first and second nights. It is now 7 weeks since I sent my initial email - I have not heard a response where I have sent numerous emails asking for a response. I have also forwarded it to the Worldwide City Sightseeing customer services dept who are based in Europe. They say they have to wait for the local manager to respond to them, they also detailed they are having issues with this office and should not be operating under the brand of City Sightseeing. I finally received a chat response back from the San Fran office, they say their staff are trained to tell people that you don't get a 3 day pass, and also that they don't offer 4 tours only 3 tours and that they can't offer a refund. This did not happen, and in any case we should be compensated for the one day that we did not receive and also for there being 1 less day. Very poor customer service, they do not answer the phone or reply to voicemails - they have not once replied to my many emails.

Michelle Altman

Beware! I might as well have dumped my money in the bay. I bought tickets under the recommendation of our hotel concierge. The company obviously over sells tickets. Not enough busses, long waits, personnel that hate their jobs and the list goes on and on. "Hop on- Hop Off" is false advertising. It is a shame because this a beautiful city.

Akash T

Good service. Wish they had more frequency and the wish they operated for more hours. Around 6pm their last bus is departed. I was in San Francisco for just 1 night and because of their timing I missed Sausalito visit. But overall service is very good with awesome informative commentary.

Laurie Waid

Loved riding around on the bus with fun guides, but waited over 45 minutes for bus more than one time. Was booked for night tour, but guide gave us very specific info on where to catch that bus, and it was for the wrong tour company, so we missed the correct bus. During the day, Grayline and City Sightseeing share the same buses but you cannot take Grayline at night if you have City Sightseeing. Very confusing and not very customer friendly.

Maria I. Otero Torres

They offer hop-off and hop-off on 24 different locations in the city, but you cann't really do this because the long, almost eternal lines to get in back. Lines of 1.5 hours or more. We use five different buses in our two days experience, and the sound system on four of them were terrible. They announced the tour as having translation in multiple languages, but that system is nonexistent. The night tour was a very good experience, but the day ones not at all.

Mr Montesdeoca

Very rude tour/driver! This guy was yelling at riders and had road rage against drivers on the road. It was kinda funny! For the amount of money you pay for the tour, its not worth it here! And the bad experience started from the guy at the front desk!

Zach Ruedy

The tour guides and bus drivers are great - as well as tours themselves; however, the office staff are terrible. The office itself is dimly lit and un-inviting and good luck getting them to answer the phone. We waited on hold for 10+ minutes and when we arrived to the office to turn our Groupon into tickets to board the bus there were no other customers and 3 employees. We're unsure why not a single one of the three employees could pick up the phone within 10 minutes. Again, we loved the tour, we loved the tour guides, we loved the drivers, but the overall experience because of the lack of responsiveness from the office staff really brought down the whole experience for us.

Javier Lopez

WARNING DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. We purchased the 2 Day Hop On and Hop Off with Alcatraz on line. We waited for an hour at stop 17 and the bus never came, we saw the Big Bus service but we could not get on. Why? Well we needded to exchange our voucher at the Sightseeing location in Taylor St. Guess what? They exchanged the voucher and gave me another voucher to exchange at BIG BUS TOURS. OMG

Amir Baniassad

They are bunch of dishonest thieves. They sold us the ticket with the promises of the bus on the corner is the night purple ride, and we had to leave San Francisco tomorrow morning. The alleged bus driver said that his shift is finished and the night bus will be there at 6 pm. No night bus came and we asked the driver on another bus and he called someone which told him the bus is coming in 15 minutes. The night bus never came and stood us up until 8pm in the San Francisco Cold weather. We Call the center and the phone was not picked up. We lost $90 and no sightseeing. The big business San Francisco bus has 5 times more buses and they come every 10 minutes but this company comes every 30-45 minutes. Total rip offs. The rip off sales people were red jackets and stand around union Square Park.

Zuzana Luptáková

The tour was OK, we already have experience with hop on hop off concept repeatedly. What we didn't really like is: (1) we booked City Sightseeing, but then we were given tickets to Big Bus - why? (2) we arrived for the night tour and were told by the employee inside BB office that they don't have any free seats. The driver lady was nice to try to look for some seats, but she was stopped by the same employee who confirmed a bit annoyed that there are no seats. When the bus went around, we saw there were 2 seats. We were basically forced to get back the next day just because the office employee was too lazy to check the seats and didn't allow the lady driver to do so. (3) about the app: we found out about it for the 2nd day, and did find it really useful, however, the location wasn't super-reliable. The bus wouldn't be moving on the app (even outside of a stop) for like 2 minutes, and then it would jump. Also, it's nice to know more or less when to come to stop, but it doesn't change the fact what also other experienced: even on weekend, usually longer than 20 mins intervals.

Good points: The Sausalito driver and tour guide was Wonderful! The tour guides can have some excellent commentary to share. Kenny, an agent in the office was great on checking with a manager to get me 2 Alcatraz tickets at very short notice. The price is reasonable: 3 days for 4 tours (didn't get to go one of night tours) & Alcatraz tickets for two people $230. Bad Points: The hop on and hop off concept sounds good in theory but in reality is very frustrating. 99% of the time you will not catch a bus at any of the spots on time. The one tour guide on the red line came across passive aggressive towards minorities. The tour guide stated the Mexican hot dog vendors were part of the Mexican mafia & started breaking down their salary of what they must be making. It HIGHLY awkward & disrespectful! There were constant delays on leaving tour start point (almost 1 hour one day out of 3) and the coordinator were not well organized and rude.

Tara Hibbs

The absolute worst service I have ever experienced. Had a 2 day pass and didn't get on a bus ONCE. First time in San Fran and barely got to see anything since I was chasing buses around and dealing with their office. Don't even try calling customer service.. they don't answer the phone. Oh and the 'live' bus tracking on their website doesn't work.

Andy Tam

So regretting booking with this guy/company... If this weren't the last minute booking to Muir Woods, I would have just walked off at the ticket counter... Thought I have checked there is a cafe at Muir Woods from the website, I asked if there is a cafe and he said No. Looking at the return bus schedule at 4:30 pm they offered (trip started at 10 am), I asked that question again, the he said you are in the woods and won't be any food, and treated me like an alien... Even worst, the wrong scheduling info was given. He circled the weekend ferry schedule and actually the ferry was running at weekday schedule (it was a Friday). My family ended up wasting 2 hours waiting at the dock. I can tell you there is a cafe at Muir Woods. First time I was given a wrong info at the ticket booth, how professional he is. Thanks very much Paul!!! Now I really appreciate my prior tour experience.

Donald Silvia

Norm during the night tour was great! Other tour guides were hit and miss. At times they were short staffed and buses ran over 45 minutes between pickups. Still a great way to see the city. Would definitely shop around. Plenty of bus tours to choose from.

Patricia Roldan

Awesome Tours of every sight to see in San Francisco! Buy the 2-day tour, you'll get to do the night tour which was super awesome since it's a surprise destination tour!

Trent Weyermuller

Overall terrible experience during spring break (bought this for Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday) I paid $55 for 3 days. Most of the time, Wait times are totally random, all employees claim that buses run about every 20 minutes to a stop, that was not a reality. I bought for my trip as my main form of transportation but with random long (sometime an hour) wait times, uber and Lyft were what i used instead. Some of the buses only had recorded tour guides and no real tour guide. I was happy with the tour guide when there was one. They sell too many tickets and buses are full and majority of the time I to sit on the bottom of double decker bus, this makes it about as good as the local city bus.

Kiran Javaid

I had a very pleasant experience touring with this company. We started the tour later in the day so didn't get off on any of the stops. Therefore, I can't say anything about the regularity of buses coming in at each stop but it gave a tour of most of the must-see places in San Francisco and the tour guide told us interesting stories about those places along the way. Great customer service too.

Belkys C. Hernandez Mejias

Great live tour guide during the day. Recorded tours were OK. The night tour is OK too; great views but the main one was rushed

Dean Kaelin

The bus was comfortable (enclosed which is good with rain popping up) and the live tour guide was great (knowledgeable and personable).

My husband and I enjoyed the tours given by City Sightseeing. Granted some of the tour guide individuals didn't give a lot of historical info about the city but Matt Moore an older gentlemen that did the "Night Tour" were very informative. I would recommend going for the 3 day pass if you want to see all points of interest in San Francisco. We did wait quite a bit for a tour bus to pick us up in one location pickup (hippie district).

Randy Jones

Good way to see the city. Getting on and off was not as easy as they say. Waited a long time

Anngel

Our first stop was at the Golden Gate Bridge, and we stoped for a snack and went back to the bus stop to get picked up. The bus arrived a few minutes after. Everything was fine until they dropped us off at the Flower Conservatory and decided to make us wait 1 and 1/2 hours for another bus.

Jess Kuras

You have to get your tickets in Fisherman's Wharf, which I didn't realize at first. The first leg of the tour was awesome (from Fisherman's Wharf to the Golden Gate Bridge), but the Sausalito tour wasn't super interesting. It was fun to ride across the bridge, but our guide didn't provide any info about anything we saw. The third bus we got on (back at the Golden Gate Bridge onwards) wasn't nearly as good as the first guy. He spent more time telling bad jokes than telling us info about the city. Overall, it was a fun experience though. We did almost miss the second bus because it was branded completely differently than the first one.

We really enjoyed this bus tour! They have many buses, great tours and best of all they have a guide on every bus!! No recorded tape! And they were very friendly and entertaining and gave us a lot of tips about our stay in the city!

Jon Davies

Great but confusing as what buses you can actually use

Steve Thomas

I love these bus tours. They're a great way to get acclimated quickly. It also helps if you get a great tour guide. Grab this tour in San Francisco and make sure to ask for "Soda Pop!" He's a wonderful and knowledgeable guide with a quick wit. Easily worth every cent of the $45 that they charged.

Nancy Pinkerton

I too CANNOT recommend this tour company. I sat with my 90 year old mother on the lower level for a 2 day tour and could not see anything out the side windows because of the advertising screens over the windows. This company needs to understand that we who sit down below pay the same price as those on the upper deck and deserve the same views!!!

Minh Chau

Not enough buses mean long waits for a bus to come along. Quality of guides vary. Lance - very gung ho in impressing his humor on the tourists. Tara - played some cool songs for the ride back into SF from Sausalito. Last guy with a Boston accent was a bit abrasive (using the F word - I'm okay with this but I'm sure families with children probably aren't).

Aline Dalichampt

Clearly not organized company. Do NOT purchase the San Francisco sightseeing pass. You have to go to the office to get the tickets for the bus, we lost 1hour to do that. Our pass was not working and the guy helped us but it seemed to annoy him. The recording is not good, website tracking map doesn't work and many languages are not available. Take another bus tour company but not city tour sightseeing nor grayline (they work together)

Sofia v

Good choice if you want some advice and help in visiting cities

K1 Gilpin

Great guides. Good way to see the city highlights. We did the Alcatraz tour with three days. Never used the second day but did take the night tour. Lots of stops to make it possible to get to most places easily.

Mike White

We paid $340USD for a 2 day bus pass + Alcatraz Tickets. The Alcatraz was fine, but the bus had several problems: 1. It was almost an hour late at it's first pickup of the day. 2. The advertised walking tours were not running. The bus drivers didn't know they weren't running, and after waiting 30 minutes for the someone to show up and take us on the tour, we called and were told that their tour guides just hadn't shown up for several days without calling. 3. The buses drove passed us and others waiting for them several times. When one finally stopped for us, the driver only let a certain number of people on. He stated that 3 of them had broken down that day. 4. The audio portion of the tour doesn't exist. They provide headphones, and there are places to plug them in on the bus, but no sound comes out when you do. 5. We were only allowed to use 1 of the 2 days we paid for. They activated our pass early (their error), and would not let us on the bus for the second day. When I called to complain, they offered me a 50% refund, which I was willing to accept, but they're now claiming that a 50% refund of the $340USD that we paid is $70USD. That's not 50%, that's closer to 20%. Their offer of 50% refund came so quickly (once I was finally able to speak to a person) that it's extremely clear that they do this regularly. I waited on hold for 45 minutes to reach a person in their management office, and then was forced to leave a message and hang up. The services offered are exceptionally low quality, and I would highly recommend choosing another tour bus company.

Nick Russill

Terrible - huge range of buses in various states of disrepair. Very few had actual guides on (good) - the rest had headphones that seldom worked and had long periods of silence. Some drivers seemed to like emergency stops at red lights making my kids travel sick. Worst of all, the night tour was cancelled one night and despite being promised a refund by Duffy, nobody bothered replying to my 4 emails and 3 phone calls. Take an UBER and DIY

Heloísa Martelli

Do not waste your time with this tour. We’ve spent almost two hours on the stop waiting for the bus that was supposed to come every ten minutes. Eventually when the bus came it was full and the driver didn’t let us in. This happened in two different spots causing us to loose almost the hole day. In the end we couldn’t even finish the tour and had to take an uber to the next stop in order to continue our visit on foot.

Rob Hanks

If I had seen the ratings on here I could have saved some money. DON'T DO IT!! Bought the Mega Pass for a single day from Union Square got the Sausalito tour as one of the options. Got to the Cannery and was told we had to get off the bus cuz it wasn't going anywhere. That was the end of the line for that bus and had to wait for the next one. 15 minutes later, standing in line with no shade in 90° heat, we got to reboard the same bus. Then when we got to the South Vista Point of the Golden Gate Bridge, we had to wait for the bus to Sausalito which we were told should be right behind the one we were on. After waiting 2 hours with no Sausalito bus, one finally arrived it was the last run of the day. The driver took us straight back to the Cannery since it was the last run. Overall, the best thing about the tour was the Bay Harbor cruise. And we are doing that tomorrow.

C Nielsen

We stood on the corner of Lombard and Columbus waiting for your red line for over an hour and a half. The bus tracker says there was a red bus a block away, but it remained that way for the whole time we were there. Our second call to the company, the first of which I was on hold for 30 minutes, said it was running on time and would be here in a minute. 10 minutes later we called again which was never answered so we walked down to the office. That is where I expressed my frustration which they could have not shown less concern about. The only reason why I would even consider giving it one star is because of the tour guides. They were very entertaining.

Leslie McNamara

Everything was okay until I tried to board a bus at the piers. An individual who said he was a salesperson was giving our group unintelligible answers in a raised voice. When I rephrased my question he became more hostile and instructed me to "watch my tone" He said his bus wasn't going anywhere, yet I saw people boarding as we left to catch another bus. He said our previous driver was "a dummy" for sending us to him... On that point I agree. If you want to watch a gang banger wannabe yell at old, gray haired women, I highly recommend Citywide Hop on Hop Off.

Tobias Pereira

Just terrible. Don't use this for your sightseeing in San Francisco. Its really confusing to find stops since they are not marked nowhere on the streets. Then if you follow the map they give you, it won't really matter because the drivers just don't follow the routes. On the top of this mess, they seem to be short on busses since it takes forever to arrive at the stop (if you ever find one) while other companies dont seem to have this problem, since we could see busses from other brands for like 3, 4 times while waiting for this. Awful experience and really waste of precious time. I wish I could at least have my money back since time i just can't.

Barbara Scifleet

Rated a 1 only due to previous experiences for City Sightseeing tours. San Francisco service was the worst that I have ever experienced. Overcrowded buses, extra long waiting times, poor drop off and on identification points. Not enough buses for the sheer mass of people that were purchasing tickets. To give you an idea people who owned tickets were left at stops waiting for hours only to be removed from the buses due to it being overweight, only to miss the next bus because there were no seats available. Thankfully the drivers and the tour guides were fantastic, but it still didnt make up for the points mentioned above. We will be requesting a refund.

Sash Dowden

If I could give no stars I would. This is 100% the worst city tour we have ever taken!! We paid for the 72 hour pass and couldn't get on the buses half that time. The tour guides have absolutely no knowledge, but love the sound of their own voices and asking for tips for giving absolutely no information. I would recommend the big bus company's the gray line who we sat and watched constantly passing us with buses that had room & staff who seemed professional & helpful!! This is not a hop on hop off tour, this is a get on the first bus of the day & don't get of chance unless you have your own way home! It ruined our San Francisco experience!!

Lisa Coster

I was sceptical at first to use this company with all the bad reviews but I must say it’s been the best hop on hop off company I’ve used thus far!! The live commentary adds a personal touch to each experience. I purchased a 2 day pass and rode the bus multiple times. Each time I was greeted by a different tour guide. They all had their own quirks and funny jokes along with great information about the sights surrounding. Do yourself a favour and purchase a ticket and judge for yourself. Big thumbs up!!

Lauren Ballew

I did this tour with my 2 kids a couple of years ago. It was great and I told everyone I knew to go on this tour. My family of 5 decided to do it for our trip to San Francisco this summer and it was a NIGHTMARE! We got on the bus fine at Chinatown and rode to North Beach. Got off, pinned the location in our phones and took photos so we’d know just where to stop. Ate lunch and went back to the stop. 3 EMPTY buses flew past us, the drivers barely glancing our way. After waiting an hour we decided to walk to the next stop (Columbus & Beach) and get on there, hoping for more luck. 2 more empty buses flew by without stopping! At this point we had walked several miles and been waiting 2 hours for a bus to stop and pick us up. Finally a bus stopped and we got on. We rode to the main starting point and went onto a new bus to start over. By now it was after 4 pm. The last bus runs at 5. We rode, terrified to get off and miss any more buses and risk getting stranded. On this bus we noticed the driver never slowed down for the designated stops. Twice we had to yell at the tour guide to stop because people were trying to get on the bus! We decided to risk it and join everyone else at the Golden Gate Bridge stop. We enjoyed that and quickly got into another bus with a great tour guide, Giovanni. He was wonderful. Charming, funny, full of great info about the city. Each time we came to a designated stop he made sure the driver stopped. Unfortunately, at this point there was only 1 bus behind us and we weren’t sure it would stop, so we stayed on and missed all the exploring we had hoped to do. Do this tour at your own risk! If you get a good, alert tour guide and driver you should be fine. But if not, you’ll be like us, pushing a stroller and dragging 2 other kids all over the city praying a bus stops. It was a total waste of money. It would have been cheaper and less waiting to take an Uber to each stop!

Ronald Heiby

Very uncomfortable seats. Nice that the guide is a person instead of a recording. But the advantage is lost when you can hear only about a quarter of what is said over the noise of the city, the wind, and traffic bouncing off tunnel walls. I was sitting in a row just behind a speaker, and was continually frustrated. I think that there was some interesting information about the early days of Golden Gate Park and something about some of the other neighborhoods. But I couldn't swear to it. I considered moving down to the lower level. But they have wrapped the bus in an advertisement, and obscured the windows in the process. I'll probably take the map of the route as a guide for doing some Google searches and planning for future trips.

Olivia McDonald

My group and I arrived at the Leavenworth office in the morning to pick up our vouchers for the All Loops tour. The office staff were polite and friendly - and helped us right away with our tickets and explained the bus schedule for the different routes. We started off with the Golden Gate/Sausalito tour. We boarded the bus right before departure time and found plenty of seats for the 5 of us to sit near each other. Our tour guide, Spencer, was very outgoing and had a great sense of humor. He made the ride enjoyable and relaxing, but also knew so much information about the city and our surroundings. I found myself learning more about the city even though I've lived in the Bay Area my whole life! We were able to get off at the stop in Sausalito and spent an hour having lunch and shopping. We were able to get right on to another bus and finish the tour back to the starting point. Later in the day, we also did the Downtown tour. Our tour guide (unfortunately, I forget her name) was new but still very informative and friendly with the group. She interacted with the guests during the tour and, at each of the stops, greeted/thanked every person who got on or off the bus. We left the bus at the first Chinatown stop so we could walk around and explore, and she let us know which ways we could go and where the other nearby Chinatown tour stop was in case we wanted to get back on later. Unfortunately, we were unable to ride on the Golden Gate Park and Night tours because of dinner reservations, but overall I am very impressed by the tours we did and can happily say we will be back again! Each staff member was helpful and kind and I could tell right away that the company as a whole strives to make sure each guest is accommodated. I had a great time celebrating my birthday while enjoying the tours and city with my family and friends. City Sightseeing is a great way to explore the city - whether you are visiting San Francisco for the first time or have lived in the area for your whole life, there is always something new to see and learn!

michael mazzone

Over all enjoyed my time on the tour. All the guides and drivers were very good. The company needs to put more buses on the road. I have done Hop on Hop off in many cities and never had to wait more than 15 minutes to get on a bus. The buses were all full and I needed to wait for the next bus more than once. Bus stops are not clearly marked. Was waiting at pier 1.5 with 8 other people and watched the bus drive right by. Had to get an Uber to pier 39. Ticket was not clear that the Muir Woods were not included in the 48 hour ticket.

Dale Whyte

Terrific! Very entertaining. Santa hats and hot chocolate helped with the cold night air

craig ray

We purchased a 2day pass, the one trip that we used gave a nice tour...bus was old but did the trick. The advertised times are wrong, very wrong....we would watch other companies buses hit stoos sometimes twice as we would sit waiting more than an hour at every pick point we waited at. I highly recommend you go with one of the other hop on and off companies so that you can use your passes as intended...or just take a cab.

David de Vet

The tour offers perfect opportunity to get acquainted with the main highlights of the city SF. My compliments for the tour guide Steven, as a family from The Netherlands he made the tour interesting, provided advices and - for our daughters in puberty - he created a quite amusing and entertaining atmosphere ! Our compliments Steven !!! Thanks mate !

Laura Markley

Horrible, horrible, horrible. I paid for Hop On for 2 days, and Sausalito and Muir woods. We arrived to redeem our voucher, and were informed I didn't get the Hop, then we missed the bus, and had to find our own way to catch the bus to cross the bridge, then a black van would take us to Sausalito and Muir. We crossed the bridge, and the driver dropped us off at a rest area without a word as to what to do next. We waited in a downpour for 2 hrs, and no van. Tried calling, on hold 20 mins, finally left message. We had to take Uber there, get soaked, call Uber again to go to Muir. Basically, we didn't get a fraction of what we paid for. Lousy

Annette Alvarez

So many things to do in this city loved my trip here

Jenni Bruce

Excellent. Guides so knowledgeable and personable.

Cat Greatbanks

Nowhere near the same standard as city sightseeing in other cities I've visited. Stop locations aren't signed and there is no real information on the maps as to what is at each one. Not all buses have guides and the pre-recorded ones aren't easy to hear on the open top.

Candy Aung

Bought two day pass on 13th August 2018 and wasted our money. Really disappointed with the service. The stops shown on their map do not actually reflect their actual stops. Wasted our time waiting at Stop 21 on Broadway only to be told when we rang them that their maps need updating and told us the actual pickup point is on Columbus Avenue. Buses are old. Windows covered with advertising stickers. This is really annoying and defeats the purpose when you want to “see the sights”. Some tour guides do not know what they are doing. You need to be on a bus with audio tour and headphones to get a good service.

Harry Zhang

Frequent buses and awesome app. I dont know what the rest of these reviewers are talking about lmao. The commentary was 4/5 too

Brandon Dilli

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! This tour is horrible. Sean, the guide, was more interested in pointing out the local restaurants than the sights. Poor and rude customer service. Gave us the wrong information concerning where and when to board the bus. Horrible value. Wish I had the money back.

Jonathan Johnson

We did this in South Africa and really enjoyed the buses. The "real time" bus tracking is about as accurate as Donny Trump on Twitter.

David Pickett

Fine tours, many great stops!

Amanda Radley

Not sure why there are so many one star reviews, maybe we just got lucky but we had a great time. I’ve done these tours many times before (never in SF) and know they get delayed by traffic so don’t put too much stock in the timetable. We ended up seeing four different guides and all were great, friendly and knowledgeable. The begging for tips gets old fast but that’s America for you. The night tour was great, do get there early as it gets full. And after they put on a complimentary shuttle back to Union Square which meant I didn’t have to walk up and down the massive hill, bonus.

Akshar Patel

It is a rip-off. You have to sand in line for a hour and I would tell you to buy the tickets when you get there.

Kevin Tough

Booked a 3 day hop on hop off trip and includes 4 other attractions and Alcatraz. Great value for money and also see all the main areas of the city by day and by night.

Jen Snow

Wow!! Ridiculously unnecessarily rude customer service!! My friend is visiting and wanted to take this tour... It seemed like kind of a rip off to me, but since I'm not a native of SF & live in the east bay, I figured that maybe they could show or tell us about some stuff that I didn't know. I asked about their shuttle times from downtown to the office, where for some unknown reason you're required to pick up for their Golden Gate Bridge tour. They said they only had 3 shuttles from downtown within the space of 30 minutes starting at 8 am... uh.. OK?? I thought that was pretty inconvenient given that the tour appeared to run all day... but I thought maybe I was mistaken about that, so I followed up to confirm that the tour did run all day... nothing cheeky in my message, just simply asking if those were also the only time the tour ran. Their response was "No those are the shuttle times, that's what you were asking about." ?? That patronizing attitude is totally uncalled for! Why would you treat perfectly polite customers like that right off the bat?? Also... (although I didn't even say this to their customer service) why the heck are there only 3 buses early in the morning for a tour that runs all day?? What's the point of running a tour bus that picks up 22-35 minutes from BART?? It's completely pointless and a rip off!! Their downtown tour is even a bigger rip-off. First of all, besides Chinatown, there is really nothing interesting to do downtown. Second of all, most of the stops are all in walking distance of each other, except for Fisherman's Warf, which is also boring, but also easily accessible by public transport! Rude customer service and pointless, rip off tours - do not sign up with these guys!!

Brooke Belanger

On the ticket it says to validate at any bus.... Wrong. They send you down a couple blocks away from the actual busses to go line up go get a secondary print of the same thing you printed at home after already paying. Then they say oh you on get in this bus and take the scenic route to the golden gate bridge and it'll take about 2 hours!...... WRONG. They made us wait 25 minutes for a bus, halfway through the actual tour make us get off and say the bus we were on was out of service and then make us wait another 25 minutes to get on a bus that was sitting right there. Don't use this company. They just sat there running around doing absolutely nothing and arbitrarily making people get on and off random busses.

Fabio Bier

We took the City Tour and loved it. Our guide 'Chris' was one funny guy. He told us lots of fun and interesting facts about San Francisco. It was well worth the money. If you have limited time to see the city then this is definitely the way to go.

Suj Krish

The deal on groupon for the San francisco trip for a single adult for a 48 hr ticket was $49. The deal is the only good thing about it. Their website says buses operate every 30 minutes but wait time is upward of 60 minutes or more. The trips are a loop so you have to plan your trip properly. I guess you get what you pay for!

Joe

Nice guides and skilled drivers but the schedule is unreliable at best. We found ourselves stuck twice at stops where we were 5 minutes early and the bus had blown through 8 minutes early without stopping. That's a big problem when the stop is only served once per hour.

Carlos Naya

Great time, they kept it lively and informative, well worth expense and time.

Karlea LaFave

The on/off aspect is kind of neat. We were able to get off and spend as much time in the area as we wanted. Riding the top of a double deck bus over the bridge was incredible! Unfortunately they were never running on time. We generally had to wait over the scheduled time before a bus arrived. At one stop we ended up waiting for over an hour. After that we ended up getting a Lyft and made it to our destination on time. So if you are on a schedule I would not recommend this. But if you're not on a schedule and don't mind waiting it was cool seeing the town with the different guides.

KATHY SOLTAN

Absolutely dreadful. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, ENERGY OR MONEY ON THIS 'ATTRACTION'.Cost us $50 USD EACH and was the worst thing we did in San Francisco. Had to wait over an hour for a bus, we were not allowed to sit downstairs as 'we need to make sure the bus is balanced and we have to pick up people, you know!" Upstairs it was freezing as summer in SF is like winter in Melbourne- it was absolutely arctic, wind chiller factor of 1000 and it's open top-perhaps a roof might be in order?????AND it only seats maybe 30 people upstairs. So we had to wait for 3 more buses before we even got on!! In the meantime, we were dealing with the rudest staff ever, who were probably as frustrated as the customers, and the bus drivers should really just concentrate on the driving, not try and do a tour as well-it all seems too much. But for $50, NOT THE CUSTOMER'S PROBLEM. There appears to be no system at all, no processes, and not enough buses to service this supposed 'thriving business'. When we got off at Golden Gate Bridge, we couldn't get back on another bus so just walked to the next destination- it was quicker and 5kms away- but by this stage we had had enough. We FINALLY got back on then were too scared to get off- i really wanted to look at the Full House Street in the Alamo, but the buses are so unreliable we just stayed on the bus. The other thing that is super annoying is WHERE THE HELL ARE THE BUS STOPS? They are certainly not clearly signed, they rely on 'landmarks'-seriously the weirdest and most ineffective system for ANYTHING i have ever encountered. Had i not been so exhausted after doing my own 20km walking tour of the the city and surrounds, i would have gone back to their office for a refund. I would NOT recommend it on any level. Absolutely the worst time we had in the U.S. by far.

Corinne Gonzalez

Fun tour if you get the bus with the live guide and not the headphone version. you can barely hear anything with the noise in the bus

bobby vincent

Simply a waste of Money.

Rebekka Wegmann

Sadly I cannot give 0 stars... The company is very unorganized, you easily wait for a (very crowded) bus for over an hour. Definitely not worth the money!

Rochelle Kennedyb

Jeff was literally the best wine tour guide we have ever had. It was incredible! His knowledge of wine was amazing! He was courteous, helpful, and knew everything we wanted to know about the wines we were tasting, the region, etc. We highly recommend City Sightseeing!

drpam1982 .

Loved my first ride on the blue line. The tour guide was Addie and the driver Navidad!!!! Great tour, beautiful day!

J Sandy

Avoid this Sight Seeing Bus Tour at all costs. Go with the Big Bus Tour instead. We waited over an hour for the bus at Pier 39. I called their main office twice and it went into VM. Left a message and no return call back. I then called the San Francisco Police Dept and filed a complaint. Finally on the bus our tour guide was a tatood, chain smoking women. She was actually solicitation grandmother for tips! This is a very unprofessional company! Please stay away. I'm not kidding you!

Kally Dickenson

Thanks for the discount but your directions and information were incorrect and subpar.

Dean Othman

I was expendable to the company. My satisfaction was not a priority. I can write the whole story, but it honestly isn't worth it now. Save some money and don't go to this company, they really aren't worth it.

B W

The busses on this tour arrived consistently late, came infrequently between stops and did not stop at many of the sign posted stops. One of our drivers appeared affected by something as he laughed at himself, rambled on about himself and his family and generally behaved like a nuisance. Please choose another company or use Uber.

Steve Burgess

Very disappointed with this tour. I expected to hear about the history of SF and see the important locations and buildings of the city. Instead, I learned more about the tour guide's dog and boyfriend than I did about San Francisco. I asked for the recorded audio option, but was told it wasn't an option. Some of the site's promised were pointed to as the bus drove by. Until this service improves and offers a quality San Francisco historical experience, you're better-off to rent a car and visit the site's with a history book. The city is easy to navigate by car. It's not worth paying a lot of money for this tour because you walk away with no more knowledge of SF than when you got on the bus. Very disappointing.

Jesta The Bear

Went on a Thursday. Not enough buses, and hardly any useful sightseeing information from either the recording or the guides. I've only lived here 4 months and I had to point out highlights the guide failed to note.

Heather Eigler

This was a great way to see San Francisco. Busses were clean and the guides did a nice job. It was hard to know exactly where the stops were though.

Jurek Foryciarz

Avoid by all means. The organization of buses is so poor that you need to wait at least 30 minutes extra on every stop because the bus comes full. In particular, do not go on the Sausalito tour with Danielle. She says at the beginning that she was asked to use the script but that she will ignore it. She keeps talking non stop for an hour and no more than 5% is the actual tour. The rest of the time she tells personal stories and mediocre jokes. The volume is all the way up and she refuses to tune it down. She sings too. You definitely won't forget that experience - and not in a good way.

Martin Angus

The company did well to arrange extra buses when it was clear demand was greater than they expected - so despite a long delay at the start of the day, the tour went very smoothly. Our guide & driver were excellent. One your first day in the city, it's a great way to get a feel for the city and its history.

Byron Kemp

It's fine as long as you don't get off the bus. For something that markets itself as a 'hop on / hop off' service, it is remarkably difficult to 'hop on'. Buses are spaced 30 minutes apart and if a traffic delay occurs this can easily stretch to over an hour. If you do get off the bus, make sure it's in a safe area and that you have an alternative plan to get back because you might need it!

Israel Robotnick

We booked a day bus ticket over the internet. First we had to go to their office to get the tickets which was far away from our hotel. Second we waited over an hour to a bus during work time until we gave up on it and took a taxi. We tried calling the office but no respond. Same for the chat on their website. Even the "live bus locator" kept giving the same results like the busses don't move during a whole hour. Anyway we felt scamed.

Kishore Kumar Vasudeva

Explanation could have been much better

nitin singh

This is the very nice way to so sightseeing of San Francisco. They have buses in which you can book your tour. They have different categories of tours like one day, two days or more. They will take you to various famous places in SFO. I used its services. They were good.

Steve Graham

Good route and knowledgeable tour guides on the bus. Bad, long waits at times for bus with no idea of proper schedule to know if you missed it or still to wait. Other companies (Big bus tour) have more busses that turn up more frequently. The last evening bus is at 5pm ensure you are at the right stop to get a return journey or would have to get an uber like we did at 5pm. The bus turned up but would not let anyone on.

Michael Stacy

Lance was our busdriver and guide for our trip across the Golden Gate Bridge and into Sausalito. He was entertaining and very informative. Some of the trips were less informative and more what the guide thought was entertaining, but LANCE surpassed them all! We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and this one alone made the cost well worth it! Thank You Lance for the wonderful personality you put into your work!

Jyothi Rao

Be aware that other HO-HO buses are more frequent and be sure to find out the time of the Last bus. On a golden summer day with daylight past eight thirty we foundout the last one at GGB was five thirty. Five or six buses from other tours were visible for a hour more! They pitch very openly for tips too!

Trupesh Soni

Worst service ever.. You get stranded on road for 3 hours to get the night tour..!! Worst customer support ever. They do not care what you say.. they will just give reasons.

HC Seetoh

Definitely not worth it. Paid $50 per person for basically transport between tourist sights. The red line is too short and the blue line is too long. The purple line is fine but the wait to get on board is too Long. Most importantly the so called ‘live guides’ are well almost live. The lady I had, yawned most of the time. The bus ‘captains’ are just rude and drives without regard to passenger comfort. There were a couple of part time guides that were very good. They tried very hard to be funny and take care of customers. One of them was Jason. So don’t bother with this amateur set up and pay for proper guides.

Todd Hillestad

Jason (guide) and Navi (driver) did a great job, some corny jokes along the way made it more fun. A little confusion changing from blue to red tour ,but to be expected with new personnel. I was a bit worried with all the low reviews but it was included with our trip, had a great time.

Krishna Iyer

Most horrible service. I wouldn't recommend using this tour. You will only waste time waiting for the bus. Better to use public transport or your own car for the money paid.

Daren Robertson

Very unprofessional and rude employees. A bad experience for the whole family.

There are so many bad things about this tour, I'm not even sure where to begin. Outside of them running unregistered, dangerous buses that crashed in Union Square and injured a ton of people, this is a pretty poorly managed tour. As mentioned by a bunch of other people, it looks like the bus picks up in front of the tour office. Literally no one tells you that you are not at the pickup location. I double checked the tickets after seeing two of their buses pass by to a location about two blocks away. I was waiting in front of their business for 10 minutes, and no one mentioned anything. And I thought this was just me. My first tour guide got into a fight with a pedicab that may or may not have cut him off. The front windshield on the top is not big enough for the Golden Gate tour (where you take the highway), so bring multiple coats. I hopped on the bus for the second tour, the bus took off, and they announced the tour had been canceled and the bus was going one way to Union Square. This is probably something they could email out to people with tickets. Or maybe they should have someone tell you the tour is canceled before getting on the bus. That would seem pretty easy. When I asked the person (who probably should have been at the doors) when the bus was returning to the pickup spot, he was very rude. Thanks to this company, I got stuck 25 minutes away from my hotel with no way to get back. By the time I was able to get back to my hotel, I wasted 2 hours and had to pay for a taxi. They did refund 25% of my tour (included four tours), after I asked. I would have been fine with that if I didn't get stuck on the other side of town. There are a lot of really good tours in San Fran, but I wouldn't recommend this one. The next morning I did have a very good tour guide and driver, but man, this company is so poorly run I couldn't possibly recommend them. Just a stunning level of incompetence from everyone involved, and that apparently extends to the safety of their vehicles.

it was great to see the site's, to help fine my way around

It's worth if you are going for first time and have less knowledge about place. You have to stand in queue and wait every time you board in bus.

I wish I could give zero star! It was 2.30pm when we bought the tickets, because we were told the bus is running to very late in the night. But this is totally a lie! We even did not take the bus once and it costed us $100. When we complaint to them, they said we did not read through the information. How would we know they would lie to sell tickets?? Don’t trust the company and never buy tickets from them! By the way, it is San Francisco.

Little Man

Do not use this company, rude people unorganized staff and confusing to use. Spend you money somewhere else, or another company.

Christine Lay

Having booked in February we were not informed ticket office had been moved, being disabled walking to and from to find new address was disgraceful. Very disappointed customer’s.

Good tour for seeing the main attractions of the city and learning about it's history. But lines for the bus do get long at times and some of the drivers are quite rude and pushy. However, tour guides are nice people. The two day tour is the best option and you can probably get away with going more than two days as they hardly check your ticket.

Sean was an amazing tour guide. The man is hilarious and knowledgable. Reason for my 3 stars is that we got on the first bus of the day and the seats were all wet and they didn't have anything to dry them for us. Also some busses didn't have guides on them which i think is unacceptable since your paying for a guided hop on hop off tour. I do recommend this tour just bring napkins and try to stay on for as long as possible if you get Sean because he's great!

Felt like a safe way to see the tourist destinations. However, even with the 2 day pass, if you get off to explore, there's just not enough time to see everything due to extended wait times to get back on a bus. At times it was faster to forego the bus and take a lyft. We encountered 4 tour guides providing live commentary out of about 9 trips, the first of which was the morning of 8/26 around 10:30 and did not follow a PC script and was screaming into the microphone multiple times while going through a tunnel. The other 3 gentlemen providing the live commentary were wonderful and shared many great facts. We took a trolley to Sausalito over The Golden Gate Bridge and also around the park loop(the green trolley) and found both of those drivers provided live commentary and were knowledgeable and personable people-was quite pleased with both and they were a highlight of the tours.

Not impressed, cancelled services due to traffic being busy on a holiday weekend, who would have expected that? Obviously not this company who happily took our money and that of many others without ever intending to provide any kind of service.... use big bus instead! Actually just get a muni card and dart around the city instead including the tram, definitely better value for money.

John Lawson

Comfortable ride. Our guide had lots if interesting things to share.

Sunny Kay

Unprofessional.

Tammy Ellanson

Our tour guide was the best!!

Matt Spence

Customer service with some of the employees was great! The first contact we had was with a driver chastising is for not having the scroll of tickets from the mothership. We had the printed ticket which instructs us to present to bus driver. Following drivers accepted the ticket until we got to the stop to print them off. We also had several buses travel past our stop, without acknowledging our presence, after we signaled them. Understood the bus may have been full however a courtesy stop to explain situation would extend a long way. We waited a pretty long time at two stops, both in excess of 40 minutes. We had great experiences and poor ones. Really a coin flip. Had we known the waits would be that excessive we likely would not have booked the event!

Mister Mike

Okay in the AM, horrible in the PM. Told me they pick up every 30 minuets. Waited one and a half hours to board a standing room only bus. Don’t use if you want to save yourself some money, time and frustration. Good luck!!

Karilyn Elder

This tour was ridiculous. There are currently three tour maps that they hand out, none of which are correct. All three maps give the wrong pick up stops. They claim that a bus stops every 15 mins at each site but we always end up waiting more than 45 mins. Bus stops are NOT labeled so finding the bus is always a challenge. I do NOT recommend this tour; it is a waste of money.

Shannon Fahey

Shawn was the icing on the cake for our tour!! He is a excellent and hilarious tour guide!! The sights were breathtaking and he had so much knowledge of the history of the sights we were seeing. What an awesome experience!

Andrea Berg

Had 3 great tour guides. Danielle the Sausalito driver was so much fun. From GG Bridge we drove with her back to Wharf. She played music and we had our own private bus sing-a-long. Going back out with them tomorrow on our 2 day pass.

Robert Glenn

Should have read these reviews before booking. We waited untill 10:35 for a bus that was supposed to arrive at 10:12. Eventually we called an uber to get to the next destination. We were told buses run every 30 minutes throughout the day but that has not been the case. We probably would have been better off taking taxi/ride services around the city. Do not book this bus.

If you get tour guide who tell jokes, tells you some personal stores behinds the buildings, likes to talk, likes history and has lived in San Francisco for whole live, it actually a great tour. This tour allows you to use either Grey-line or City Sightseeing buses which is actually a nice thing to have. I found most of time for day trip you need to plug in head phones, which I thought would actually be an ok experience, oh boy I was wrong, because that not that much history or telling you about city and also when they do speak they leave a huge gap in between the talking. I forget some drivers sucked because they didn’t talk that much along the Golden Gate tour which was lame in my opinion. I personally found some buses in bad repair because they had rusted self belts or cracked windshield. I found some drivers sucked because one drivers was smoking inside the buses with a closed door, one driver yells a pedestrian to get out of way at Golden Gate Park, or yelled a driver to get out of way because it was not parking spot, which is ok in my opinion, or driver who did go upstairs to count how many seats where there to allow more passengers on. I personally think they should massive increase there buses fleet to allow a greater frequency or to go pick up passenger from stoping points along the red line. I personally found the stops where not clearly marked out because some stops where MUNI (public transit) bus stops which ok in my opinion but they should work with MUNI to allow City Sightseeing or Grey Line to put there bus stops to allow customer to know to board. At the stopping with no MUNI Stop should also have City Sightseeing or Grey Line stop to inform passenger about the stop. If I where the owners of this business I would look at the reviews to improve there services because I wouldn’t recommend this company to sightseeing in San Francisco. I would also personally break the red line to where you can Hop on Hop off that could not have tour guide because your using it to explore different parts of the city. The other route would follow the red line but would have tour guide for sightseeing but it would allow drop off and pick up at the Golden Gate Bridge and the major stop in Golden Gate Park. Then service would actually be amazing to check out San Francisco.

The 'tour' bus had one of the world's worst announcers, a lady who knew nothing about the city she was in. She could barely string a sentence together, and most of her words were utter garbage. Later, getting a 'shuttle' to Union Square was even worse - the 30 minute walk was instead a twenty minute wait for the bus to turn up (after being told that it was supposed to have arrived already). We sat down expecting to leave, and the driver left the bus with a passenger's child to get ice cream! The most unprofessional, absolutely shocking service I've ever seen, left everyone else waiting for a further 25 minutes and definitely a child safety concern.

Victor Esteve

We had a good experience with the company. The worst point is the time you have to wait until obtaining your tickets in their office. In spite of this, the guides and drivers were nice and funny. We had a great time while in the bus. Specially nice was a guide who recommended us to go to Stincking Rose.

John Tannahill

Very infrequent buses with loud obnoxious commentary with incorrect facts. Francis ford Coppola did not write the Godfather you ignorant English dunce. Get on a bus that has headphones so you can choose to listen to the overweight driver scream about ice cream or not.

Greg Best

Literally the worst trip I've been on. I'd rather catch a disease than go back. Got off the bus and took a taxi the tour guide was so bad. Don't waste your money. Buses full always and endless waiting. The gray line buses came so much more. The worst commentary I've ever heard I think my ears were about to bleed. The worst. Shame on you city sightseeing. Oh and that Tank girl?? Wow she was so rude and horrible. Yuck.

Kyle Rackiewicz

These people do not have their act together. Poor information and coordination. Uber to Muir Woods is cheaper and more convenient.

Joya Joestar

Racism in the bay area! Wow, warm welcome if your the "right" skin color in their eyes. Paid for a tour, got a racist tour guide constantly telling me and my boyfriend to shut up while conversing between ourselves. And yes he said SHUT UP a million times. Others on the tour joined in. Group mentality is strong among the white folk. Anyway, got stranded in an area OUTSIDE of the city with NO refund and NO way back home. Unfortunately, all went silent once I started recording for proof. The tour driver even slammed the door against me when I was asking about our refund. Cant even file a report due to his supporters defending his actions. Called "customer service" and was yelled at and hung up on me. POC BEWARE!!! Non POC dont spend your money for THIS racism.
