Great park. Nice camp store right on the grounds that sells very dry hardwood, plus any essentials you may have left home. They also rent bikes and kayaks if you need those. Ice Age trail runs through the park. If you're just wanting to camp and explore the park, it's perfect. Not far from the trappings of Door County if you want that too.
Wonderful park. Well shaded, lots of hiking and biking trails. Great place to stay while exploring Door county.
My family went camping here in Aug and it was beautiful. The group sites were awesome. We weren't too close to the next group which was a plus since my family and i stayed up late. The trails and park itself were beautiful. Only con being by the group sites were, shower rooms were super far.
I've hiked, camped, biked and kayak, this is one of five state parks in Door county there all fantastic
Wonderful place for nature lovers. You can walk along trails. Children can play in the park. If you park near parking lot 4, you have a nice place nearby to sit and hears the sound of water lapping on the shore. Wonderful place to have fun or meditate.
A great way to spend a rainy morning. Very historically educational.
Beautiful, uncrowded park with beautiful views!
Beautiful park for fall camping. We enjoyed the trails and the rocky beach. Cute playground for kids too!
Very nice State Park to visit! Nice scenic drive thru the park. Plenty of hiking and awesome views while hiking! If you like my review, please hit "like" Thank you
Reasonably priced, well maintained group campground. Wind does not blow heavily with all of the tree cover, so bring adequate mosquito protection.
We did the ice age trail. Apart from being covered in deer flies... It was like setting the longest route in a GPS. OK the trail is maintained by volunteers so, it can't complain too much, but don't. The peninsula is beautiful, it's an amazing location... If you wanna climb rock staircases and wind through the woods it's really cool. The problems can't be blamed on trail out of wind the deer flies (in last week of June) SUCKED.
The area is beautiful for hiking. The camp sites are too small though and you don't have privacy at all. Big spray is something you must take otherwise you won't be able to make it with all the bugs.
Beautiful park with incredible scenery. I will be coming back.
Some sites are nice, but be careful, some are falsely advertised. We couldn't even get our camper set up. And customer service was non existent. I will not be back and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. Complete JOKE.
Wish they would open the tower.
Nice campsites. It is normally quiet also.
Very nice park, wish they would fix the tower though. Otherwise would definitely camp here again
Deer and other animals with only a few people made for a great experience.
Nice park, roads could use some work. They should repair and reopen the tower.
The trails were nice, and the views were amazing. I wish there would have been some kind of notification that the observation tower was closed/boarded up before we climbed up to it.
Beautiful for hiking and cycling.
We went here on a beautiful spring sunny day. But weather was still cold. While entering every vehicle needs to buy a daypass or yearly pass, like other State parks. The trails are really neat and give awesome nature views. Liked the calm and quiet atmosphere near the bay. Park staff was very helpful too. Want to visit again.
Nice campsite #58 because of its close proximity to the water. Also hardly any mosquitos, clean flush toilets, showers and loads of hiking trails made our stay very comfortable. I gave 4 Stars because of the LARGE volume of poison ivy located close to many campsites...not ours thankfully.
Great hiking and camping right on Sturgeon Bay.
Great place to visit and spend the day . Some areas are closed during winter and I was unable to access the observation tower .
Beautiful views and great kayaking from the sheltered boat launch. Don't miss a view of the night sky from one grassy waterfront areas!
Peaceful and serene. The camping spots were large with plenty of trees in between each one. Bathrooms were clean. Staff was always available if had any issues. Well maintained hiking trails nearby.
Plenty of places inside the park to have fun.
Beautiful park, nice staff, and well maintained. The campgrounds are pretty. The bathrooms and showers are clean and well maintained. I will definitely camp here again.
Seriously AWESOME!! Everything was perfect. Loved the hiking and walking trails. Park and picnic areas were very well taken care of. Kudos!! Hope I can return.
Beautiful state park! Love coming here before you hit all the traffic of Door County but yet an easy ride up. Could use another bathroom/shower facility to accommodate all the sites.
Great place with a few nice hiking trails the campground is also very nice
A great place to camp. Love the view of the lake!
Very beautiful state park with many campsites!
Absolutely love it! I wish the tower was open but still so many amazing sights to see!!!
Love this park. Sites are wooded with relative privacy. One of our favorite Wisconsin state parks.
Great Park Excellent time to hang out by the water and fish , kayak and swim when the water warms up. There are camp sites through out the park some which are right by the bluffs and others in the tree area. There's a place to rent kayaks and a small store for some goods. I will say that the tower is shut down due to not being safe so they closed it earlier this year . And trails run all through the park and many people ride their bicycles on the roads. There's a playground for the kids down by the water and trails. Very nice park to hang out for the day or to camp.
There were some nice views and activities available here, and it was less crowded than many of the surrounding parks. The hiking wasn't as exciting as I hoped it would be, but I bet the boating is nice. I wish I had rented a kayak, but my extremely tight budget didn't allow for it.
One of my favorite WI state parks!
It is gigantic. There are endless trees when you go on the trails, most of the time I had no clue where I was on the map because all you can see is trees
Spacious sites in the woods. Open areas for kids. Great hiking trails with pretty views.
Absolutely beautiful park with so many areas to explore and enjoy! A family favorite since we moved here in '67! Great hiking and biking!
Nice trails walking and bike
Nice camp sites, nice state park.
Big camping spots. Beautiful park. Not enough showers or flush toilets. Would go back because of nice shades camp spots
Awesome park. Out of all the State Parks I've been too. This one has the cleanest shower/bathroom by far. Very serene during the week.
Very nice, quiet, and shady. Only drove through to see the outlooks over the bay.
Very quiet wonderful park
Nice trails, Eastern terminus of the Ice Age Trail is here. The tower was closed unfortunately. Very clean park. Lots of bicyclists. Not a lot of tree coverage between sites and there were some loud campers at no fault of the park.
Gotra love wildlife
Great in all seasons, quieter than the other state parks. Good Nordic skiing and canal views.
Our truck had a dead battery when we were packed up to leave. The Rangers came and helped in less than 10mins. They were very friendly and helpful!
Large park lots of trails and wildlife clean and accessible. Great 100%
Great place to watch the tallships come and go. :-) ⛵
Nice park in door county. Not to busy compared to peninsula state park. The tower trail was a lot of fun and brought you right along Sturgeon Bay . We will be back
Very nice park that contains an interesting segment of the Ice Age trail culminating in the Eastern Terminus of the trail
I reserved a week long trip based on an observation tower I wanted to go up on only to discover the tower is permanently closed. Campsites are good, mostly packed gravel on just about every site I saw. On the plus side, great location for State Park to explore Door County.
Beautiful state park. Great hiking trails along with biking trails.
We went camping for four days over Memorial Day weekend in 2018 and had a wonderful time. The park is absolutely beautiful and has many walking trails and nature areas, most of which were dog-friendly (which was a huge perk for us as we took our 6-month-old Golden Retriever with us). There were playgrounds for kids and one of the nights were were there there was a bonfire with a guy playing guitar for the kids down by the beach. The sites themselves were nicely shaded and very clean when we arrived. Our neighbors were friendly and left their remaining wood for us when they took us early, and there was also a small camp store we went to when we ran out of lighter fluid (a bit overpriced, but worth it for the convenience of not having to leave the park). While it's not as big as Peninsula State Park, which we've stayed at on previous trips, it has just as much to offer as far as beautiful views (see my photos below) and things to do. We would definitely go again.
Love this park, I come every time I'm up in the area. I just wish the tower was still open!
Woods and water, doesn't get much better than that. Nice trails through the woods. This is a smaller park, but you can still spend a day hiking the trails. The colors were gorgeous in late October.
Wisconsin people are literally so nice
Nice park ! Very close to nature and remote, highly recommend in Spring
Narrow trails but very scenic
Walk through the woods. Experience nature, sneak up on some deer. Do some geocaching
My family has always made fond memories here. Sadly the park could use some updates on sites by adding wider aprons for easier maneuvering in and out for trailers. Many of the roads could use attention too. We need a more generous budget for maintaining our State Parks!
Smaller park but nice for a weekend trip.some of the non electric sites back right up to beautiful bluffs.
Beautiful park. However, very poorly marked trails and outdated map from the office. And not just us ... we ran into 2 other groups of people searching their map trying to figure out where they were and how they got there. Pls add more tree signs indicating which turn to take to stay on Hemlock or Tower trails. We ended up on trails that weren't on the map.
Beautiful park, clean showers! Even the outhouses were decent. Door County is always a favorite destination.
Lots to do and see even in the middle of winter. Definitely going to be back in our truck camper...If your cold you can use the cottage with a fire place so your not stuck in the cold. I seen some guys in tents there and it was 1° they just slept in the tent and hung out in the cottage. So don't let winter keep you indoors get out and enjoy our state parks. Happy camping.
We love this park!! Good trails for hiking, right on the water, nice sites, clean bathrooms. I look forward to visiting the camp store because they are so nice and they bring their hound dog along to work. We always get a site that boarders the main road to the water. This way we can just walk across it and make our own fishing spot on Sturgeon Bay.
I had a wonderful experience here. The bathrooms were high class (for a camp ground LOL), the staff was very helpful, and our ‘neighbors’ were fantastic. It was one of the best summer camping trips ever!
Beautiful state park with decent site sizes and conditions. Several event options appealing to children of all ages which is great for camping families.
Great park! Very cool hiking trails. Only wish the tower was fixed!
Really enjoy the "State Park" feel of it. Lots of nature around and plenty of places to go and get away from it all. We camped there and my only complaint would be our site seemed so close to the one behind us. There were no trees between us and our fire-pits were roughly 20-30 feet away from each other which made relaxing by the campfire a bit weird. They were not loud or anything but they were right there! Taking a stroll through the sites a few times I noticed there really were not very many like that so maybe we just got unlucky. Besides this we loved camping there. The shop is great the trails are great and the nature is great!
Very nice park, even with the tower out of commission.
Very nice state park with great views. Alot or do in the immediate area as well
It's a Wonderful State Park it's one of our favorites still wonderful trails and it's right on the water
Great park!!! Views are amazing in some spots. Wasn't overly busy, highly recommend if you like hiking and biking and camping
Always like going her
Beautiful park
Nice place to camp
The camp ground are clean, the bathrooms are clean and smell nice. The pit bathroom are clean and smell nice. Dog friendly. The staff at the entrance are friendly and helpful.
Beautiful park! So many fun activities to do here.
Beautiful state park! Nice and private camp sites. Beautiful trails to bike or hike.
A really great deal for a summer get away camping trip. Nicely maintained shower and restroom facilities. For day hikes the surrounding park was nice but the trails and descriptions were confusing and not well marked leading us off our desired course several times. Also the observation tower that is on all the maps is now permanently closed.
Great location. Lots to do. Traditional state park type facilities - nothing too fancy, but more than adequate.
Nice park. Nice shower facilities. Lots of trails to hike. Easy access camp sites. One of my favorite state parks. But what's with the yellow drinking water? Comes out clear but then turns yellow after 15 minutes. Sorry, didn't have the guts to drink it. But all in all, a nice park. One last thing. If you need air for your tires, ask the locals where you can get it for free in town. Otherwise, it's $1.75 with a credit card at major gas stations. Ouch, not a nice way to treat your visiting tourists.
Only a few short miles from Eagle's Nest Waterfront Suite and Lily Pad Cottage, Door County, Potawatomi State Park has lots to offer: Camping, trail hiking/running, a beach, kayak and boat launch, cross country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter months and and of course, the famous Tower, hopefully soon-to-be preserved and renovated for people to enjoy for years to come.
Great park store!
Went here today and checked out the nice walking trails. It was a nice winter day and not too cold. Great scenery.
Great trails for hiking always enjoy seeing tge trails in winter as well.
They need to post that the viewing towner is close. Plus it needs to be fixed.
Beautiful place to go.
Rugged beauty with easy access, this extensive park is situated aside the lovely little city of Sturgeon Bay and offers something for everyone. Plus, it marks one end of Wisconsin's Ice Age trail and is the perfect start/finish to that 1100 mile journey (or at least a great taste of the natural beauty you'll experience along the way). Please just be sure to clean up after yourself and respect your fellow campers and park goers!
Signage up for observation tower does not indicate that the tower is closed.
Great place for a drink and hike.
Very nice place to visit. Very nice picnic areas, and so many trails to walk and enjoy. Wish the tower was still open, but it's not. The camping is very nice and so many spots. The views of the water are amazing and relaxing. Recommend this place to anyone who wants a great family vacation in the wilderness.
The tower is closed. Only 2 good places for look outs. Appears to be a great area for camping and hiking/biking, all wooded
Great campground. Easy proximity to Sturgeon Bay. Can't wait to return.
One of the best state park camps in Wisconsin! Very large sites, friendly staff, and affordable! Now I know why it is hard to find a reservation!
Very calm place for camping in woods and it has store to get basic things.
Great park, loved the hiking
I have camped here religiously. This place has fun hiking trails! The fire tower has fantastic views! I love going to the shore and skipping rocks looking at the big ships heading in and out of Sturgeon Bay. There is a nice campground! The mosquitos are not the worst, but they do come out to play. There is a nice simple playground for the kids to get some energy out!
Great park!
Love this park. Have visited every year since I was a kid. Lots to do and always able to catch a fish off shore!
Went camping here last year for the first time. I loved the hiking trails. We also had a huge group site, but I didn't like how the other group site was close to ours and they were loud after 10 PM with no consequences. We probably won't go here again, but overall a good camping trip.
Potawatomi State Park looks just as beautiful as it does in the picture. We visit there a lot when we go up to Door County to visit our parents. If you get a chance stop and take a few snapshots of your own you won't be disappointed.
Clean friendly fun. Good fishing
Had a great hike
Well marked trails, great hiking.
Excellent camping with beautiful wooded sites. Many picturesque cedar trees and rock outcrops along the lake shore hiking trails. Good hiking trails including a long stretch along the bay of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail including the Eastern terminus. Unfortunately the Potawatomi tower has been closed permanently due to structural deterioration in safety concerns. There is no sand beach however there is a rock beach good for throwing stones and skipping rocks in the bay.
Love this State Park!! It was clean and quiet and very relaxing!!
This is a beautiful state park with picnic areas on the lake shore, a boat launch, and some nice bike and hiking trails. It's been a long time since I've camped here, but the campgrounds sure look nice! It's a short drive into Sturgeon Bay where there are a couple of small (but well-done) museums, shopping, a winery and a variety restaurants.
Observation Tower closed as ruled unsafe! State of Wisconsin refuses to pay to repair. Also NO ATV trails.
I love coming here!
So nice I love it there
Great, clean park. Each campsite is secluded and cozy. I would love to camp here again.
Rent a bike and enjoy it. It's amazing.
Fun canoeing. Ask at the main entrance where to go
Very nice park in the winter to Snowshoe and cross-country ski. Lot of nice wildlife.
SAFE HAVEN for biking, hiking camping or nature exploring for couples, singles and the whole family! We have been coming here for about 50 years!! The staff is amazing and so are the views. It offers the beauty of Wis in all 4 season! Cant wait to go back - reminds me of my Mom n Dad and all of our fantastic memories as a child. Thank you all! We will be back soon!
Great place to camp
Nice campground and very well stocked camp store front with anything you forgot or need
This is a very nice quiet park with a good boat ramp and many walking trails
Pot park. Could not be better.
Loved camping here. Lots of spiders, but hardly any skeeters! Will definitely do it again!
Magnificent views of Sturgeon Bay
Miles of hiking trails, biking and kayak rentals on site, lots of camping and a few picnic options. Supposedly it's not buggy most of the year too (although that wasn't my experience!).
Beautiful and clean park with amazing views and awesome trails :)
Beatiful setting. Beware if you have a trailer longer than 35 feet. Spaces are hard to back in. We were told that the water would be on until the end of the month. We got there two days later, and signs were posted that the water was going to shut off on the 22nd of October. That was a bit frustrating.
Great place. Beautiful trails. Clean. All around wonderful
Love this place. I hope the tower gets replaced that was always a favorite
This is nice State Park, right outside of sturgeon Bay. The park was more driving around, than actual hiking. The fire tower is also closed, even though there are signs up saying where it is, it is not possible to climb it. There is a nice shoreline, with beautiful white rocks that are perfect for skipping.
Awesome place to spend a day!
Park ranger and camp hosts are really awesome!
This is a great day trip from Green Bay for hiking, mountain biking, camping and taking in vistas over the bay of Sturgeon Bay. Just south of the city of Sturgeon Bay.
We camp at state parks across America. Pot Park is the first we've encountered with hidden fees. If you are camping you are also required to purchase a car pass. Our 3 day stay was so expensive we ended up having to buy an annual pass we will never use for almost the same cost of our campsite. We don't mind paying to support a park but the hidden costs are shady. Every other state park we've been to includes parking with the campsite fee. The camp site E6 is not RV or trailer friendly. It's on an angle and there is a large raised stump to maneuver around. If you are local or are tent camping the park is great. I've visited several times growing up with family in the area which is why we originally chose to camp there. Unfortunately with the hidden fees, torn down tower, and difficult campsites, we won't be back.
