I only walked the section of trail going from the roadside parking lot to the overlook for Big Manitou falls, but it was gorgeous! Especially if you are traveling with someone with limited mobility, the "hike" is short and sweet with a wonderful view.
Beautiful waterfalls and trails. A very special place.
Love this place. Nice camping for tents. I'm not sure about the RV sites. The beach and swimming area are great with plenty of changing rooms. Oh yeah, there's a waterfall too...
These were beautiful waterfalls to visit. There are actually two falls here. And if you don't feel like hiking you can drive to each fall that only has a very small walk to the fall, or you can do the loop hike.
Trail system being repaired after June flood. Able to see the beautiful falls. I enjoyed the buildings and work done by the CCC. Also had a nice tribute to Mr. Pattison which led us to his mansion tour in Superior. If you enjoy waterfalls and natural beauty, this park is a must see.
Nice park! Many pull through sites, just the right amount of woods around each site (private but not closed in). Waterfalls were impressive, and good access despite recent storm damage.
Took a walk through the park. Big & Little Manitou Falls rushing slower as they damned the water, so not as fast as usual. Some of the trails damaged from spring flooding. Swimming area nice, many outdoor bathrooms available for use, changing areas & picnic tables, etc...
Been going to Pattison since I was a child and have enjoyed many family reunions there. Usually lots of people swimming but at this time, a problem downsteam is forcing then to keep the lake drained. There's a nice pavilion with a fireplace built by the WPA. Fun to walk over and check out the falls.
Awesome views great trails.
Beautiful park. Lots of trails.
The trails from the big falls to little falls has been closed since 2018 due to flooding. You have to drive instead of hike to see them both.
This is a beautiful park! It is well maintained, campsites are a generously size, and the hiking trails are amazing! If you get the opportunity go. You won't be disappointed.
Beautiful place, awesome experience!
Biggest waterfall in the state of Wisconsin.
Gorgeous
Quiet campsite, clean facilities and the waterfall is amazing!!!
Who doesn't love waterfalls.
Saw Great Manitou Falls here. They are the 4th highest falls east of the Mississippi and tallest on WI!
It was a real quick and beautiful visit. Saw the big manitou falls only. There are three basic views, all equally beautiful
Great views! Nice beach for swimming. A lot of trails closed due to storm damage and wash out. Clean bathrooms and showers for campers. Nice size camping sites. Playground for kids and lots of space ro run around.
Big falls n relaxing
Wonderful, even in the rain!
Great park with beautiful waterfalls and scenic views of the nearby forests from the overlook. Unfortunately they had really bad flooding in summer 2018 that washed out many trails and paths. The lake is still being intentionally kept low until they get things back in order so no beach at this time. The trail that is officially open by the campground and service road isn't dog friendly with the large, rough rocks. Hopefully they can get it back to it's former state or better but we'll definitely be back to camp and hike.
This was a neat stop on my way up to Duluth. 2 really nice waterfalls within a short distance from the parking lot for anyone with issues traveling falls. It's worth a stop.
Alot of construction...not their fault. Beautiful natural beauty. Just hard to give anything 5 stars after you see Amnicon Falls. Well worth the visit and an experience.
Really neat falls
Beautiful waterfalls and nice little lake and sand beach
This was a good park, but many of the the trails were damaged due to flooding. There are some great views of the falls and the trails seem open enough and there's a steady breeze due to the geography to keep the masses of mosquitoes at bay. It was very noisy at night camping though, it's very apparent this is a college camping area. A couple of times we asked neighbors to calm down as we had a couple of kids, but within minutes they were back at it. This seems to have been the norm as many of the sites were fairly loud after 10:00 PM. It's a bit different than the MN State Parks I've been to. There is a swimming area that was very nicely laid out and had it been warmer we would have probably been swimming more. The trails are nice and there appear to be lots of self guided activities for kids including activity books.
Small yet elegant.
We tent camped for a weekend and hiked around the park. The campsites are all pull through and not very private. We had very loud neighbors that stayed up late and got up early (lots of drinking and swearing). It rained one of the nights but wasnt much of an issue due to the tree cover. The park staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't get to swim at the beach but did notice how nice and clean it was. A lot of the hiking trails are closed but still able to get to the viewing areas to see the beautiful water falls. The firewood at the park was cheaper than the places selling around the area.
This small state park boasts Wisconsin's tallest waterfall, Big Manitou Falls. The trail to the falls is very short, and has good spots for photo opportunities. There are a few longer trails down to the Little Manitou Falls and around the inside of the park, but you can also access these by vehicle as well. There is a large parking lot with trees for shade. There is also an event center, campground, sand volleyball court, playground, and a multitude of picnic tables.
Loved it! The views at the falls are amazing !
We love camping at Pattison park!! Have been camping here every year for t 3 years and plan on coming back next year too!!
The park offers fantastic views of the falls and river, not to mention the great view of the valley below the park itself. While the larger falls are easy to access, the smaller ones require a longer hike, perfect for those feeling adventurous.
Beautiful clean trails. Staff is extremely helpful. Fair price for a year pass! We will be enjoying this park again!
Small but breathtaking
Beautiful falls, easy to get too viewing areas with nice pathways. Planning on going back in summer to it then too.
Map confusion for trails half trails closed do to 2018 floods
Two waterfalls that include the tallest in Wisconsin and the very impressive Little Manitou Falls. Short hikes to awesome views!
Only saw one small section but paths were groomed nicely and great large picnic area for lunch.
Love this place so much took my wedding pictures here
Good hiking, great sandy beach, stunning waterfalls, really nice park. Old CCC buildings are beautiful as well. Hope they can repair and reopen the Beaver Trail.
If your going to see the falls there is a steep hill.
A must stop in spring run off day's
Nice camping sites, there are waterfalls to see, trails, nice beach for swimming.
Beautiful park with lovely swimming area.
Lots of kids, we left a day early as we ended up next to noisy kids awake and playing basketball at 7am (in their campsite) campgrounds are very nice, bathrooms/showers cleaned daily, nice trails and waterfall, big swim area
Great place to camp.Nice and quiet.Staff was awesome.Lynn (staff)was a great hostess. We will definitely be back.
Great hiking, beautiful view of the falls
Beautiful. Scope it all out! Explore, it will be as beautiful as you let it!
Great camping sites, trails and beach area. A lot of rain and flooding has affected some of the trails, but still a great place to visit, camp and see Big Manitou and Little Manitou Falls. We'll be back!
Super fun place to take the kids to explore
This is where to find good ole fashion RR....hike the trails or sit by the waterfall. My family did both and it was the most relaxing and enjoy family time. Getting back to nature and appreciating what it has to offer!
The trails to the falls were alright, the falls themselves were a bit disappointing for how much their stats we're touted, and the parks themselves were very poorly maintained with trash cans just missing, the grills were filled with garbage and unusable, and several of the water locations on the map were out of order or missing.
This is an especially awesome place to visit after there had been a lot of rain.
It sustained some damage from a storm last spring, but overall it was a nice park to visit for a long day trip. The big and little falls are both worth it.
We liked it. No water. Had electric
Beautiful state park; great hiking and Wisconsin's tallest waterfall
Beautiful waterfalls that are easy to get to. It's a little pricey to get in ($11), but the fee gets you into Amnicon Falls State park as well.
Gorgeous and right off the highway
Beautiful historic state park!
Beautiful!! Tallest waterfall in Wisconsin! Wonderful walking trails. A must stop. Viewing area right next to the road. Great for those with handicaps. Just don't forget your mosquito repellent!!!
Really nice hike and the falls are incredible
Loved the lake area but a little bit disappointed that I can't bring my dog with us.
Very nice campground with good sized sites, a lake and two waterfalls in walking distance. A large picnic area with a beach.
Nice park with falls very close to the road, so not allot of walking needed.
Great campground and hiking!
Great family time, staff was helpful and friendly
Big Manitou Falls is one of the tallest east of the Mississippi however, Little Manitou Falls provides a more up close encounter.
Great lookouts and trails!(:
Maple trees are decked out in their beautiful Autumn colors.
Great time!
Love this Park, so clean, great staff.
Gorgeous Falls not too far outside of town!
I had no idea there were waterfalls like this in Wisconsin. Must see!
If you can't get a place on the MN side, Pattinson is well worth the price of admission. Giant waterfall, nice campground, and just the right distance from Superior.
Beautiful park. Kept up very well. Great hiking trails!
Great views, lovely park.
Camped and hiked there. Flood on father's day 2018 took out the dam and the lake was drained mostly. Falls still beautiful, hiked the trails even though they were still fixing them. Bathrooms were clean and painted! Really nice for an older state park.
Absolutely amazing waterfall. Park was very clean.
Beautiful park! Clean restroom/shower house. Friendly ranger and campers! Definitely plan on going back!
Good place to go if you are nearby like an hour or hour and a half. The trail to the big Manitou falls was closed on one side but you can see a full view from a trail on the other side close to the parking lot b. Entree fee is $5 for 1hr and $11 if out of state license plate. They have vending machines for drinks and not food. The restrooms were decent and the staff at the entrance seemed friendly. Also, stay on 35 when driving here, Google maps might suggest a faster route when closing nearby the state park but the roads were bad and had loose gravel, so keep that in mind.
We have been to this park multiple times and love the beautiful waterfalls. This fall was especially great with fall tree colors and an exceptionally high volume of water going over the falls.
I visited this state park about a month ago. Big Manitou Falls was a trickle when I saw it and covered by much foliage. I think the Spring would probably be the best time to see it. Many of the trails were closed when I visited due to a washout that happened in June. I understand that many state park systems are underfunded, but for damage that was done 2 months ago I was a bit surprised. The campground itself was clean, particularly the bathrooms/showers!
Great camping! My only complaint about this place is that dumpsters are only available near the entrance to the park. They don't have them conveniently located which makes it annoying to throw out your trash when you're at a campsite. They have showers and flush toilets. The building is clean, large, and centrally located. They have a nice, large beach area and lots of picnic tables. The bath house by the beach has several changing stalls, some toilets, and a spigot (inside) to clean off sandy/dirty feet. The falls are gorgeous and worth checking out. You can either hike to them or park very close to them. It's about 20 minutes from Amnicon Falls State Park which is great to visit for a day or half-day trip. It's also about a 30 minute drive from Duluth, MN which has some fun things to do too.
Beautiful park with several drive thru sites.
100% amazing
Very beautiful, the price for non residents was pretty steep but all and all very nice and had a great time
My favorite place to camp! The hiking and the falls.. Amazing. The staff at the campground are the best. Been there 3 times and can't wait to go again!
This park was amazing! We camp in tents, and it seemed like every campsite around the outer loop of the campground had great grassy areas to set up. The staff was super helpful - even giving recommendations for other parks for hiking because some of their trails were closed due to flooding. Never experienced a campground with fewer mosquitoes or better showers - overall a great place that I can't wait to come back to!
Beautiful falls and scenic trails. Make sure to check out the little falls and big Manitou as well.
Good place to visit
I love it here! The trails are always well kept (aside from some things that need to be taken care of because of the great flood. Which is no big deal.) The park is clean, bathrooms kept clean. Waterfalls are easily accessible and beautiful! They offer camping. The lake is GREAT for swimming with kids because it's shallow and warm. Great for kayaking/learning how to kayak too.
Our family of 5 LOVED being there. Hiking around and looking at the fabulous scenery laid out before you. They have a beach where the kids enjoyed playing at despite the water being pretty cold. They plenty of restrooms around and all have wheelchair accessible as well. They allow dogs which is fantastic and have designated areas.... picnic area and and trails. The water falls are cool and the look outs are great. Look forward to returning for more exploring!!
This park has so much to offer camping picnicking swimming hiking and an awesome waterfall that is 165 foot tallest in Wisconsin
Great place to take a dip and have a picnic! Nice trail system that will take you around the big falls and up the river to the Little falls. Great place to spend a day.
Walking trails are great!
Beautiful scenery, well groomed trails, clean
Amazing views!
This is a charming park with a nice campground.
Pattison State Park has the Highest waterfall in Wisconsin, an excellent area to go camping with 14 miles from Superior and 5min s from Foxboro
Big Manitou was awesome.
Great place to camp by lake superior.
The falls were beautiful. There was a lot of construction going on and paths that have been closed for over a year. Would like more places to ride my bike.
Great views of the waterfalls!
Close to Duluth with good hiking and some beautiful trails. They are known for their waterfalls. The campsites are great too. Beautiful area. You need to go there if you haven't.
Beautiful and relaxing place to go.
Nice scenery
This is one of Wisconsin’s best state parks. It is nice and clean, with running water, flush toilets, and showers camp sites are set up in a nice circle so are never too far away. The beach and walkway to falls are a little broken up at this time (6/30/2018) because of the big storm that swept through, but they are fixing it as fast as possible, and have some temporary arrangements so the waterfall is still viewable. If you are geocaching lots of good cashes to find up here! I can’t wait to go back.
We camped at an electric site the weekend of July 12, 2019. We were very impressed with the campground, cleanliness, and staff. We didn't use the shower or bathroom facilities so I can't comment on those. I appreciated the trex-type picnic table and bench at our campsite, which seemed cleaner and probably holds up better in the long run than wood. The beach area is very nice and features a sandy beach and soft lake bottom with little vegetation - can walk barefoot without getting hurt. The water is quite shallow for a ways out, so it's a nice place for small kids. Some of the trails are closed due to severe flood damage, but both waterfalls are still accessible and we were able to hike many miles on the open trails. The hike to the bottom of the gorge below Big Manitou Falls is worth the trek. The viewpoints for the waterfalls were well maintained. In the summer I highly suggest going to the lookout on the north side of the Black River below Big Manitou Falls in the evening where you can watch the sunset to the NW alongside Big Manitou Falls! My only suggestion for the campground is to move the garbage and recycling center to a different exit lane than the RV dump to keep cars moving out faster, rather than having to wait for an RV to finish dumping just to get to the garbage and recycling.
Beautiful hiking trails and lookout points to see the falls and the river. We hiked in March and the trails were very snow covered and a bit of a hard hike, but worth it to see the Falls. There are many areas to view them even without a long hike. Definitely will be back to camp!
I love this place. Many, many memories. Spent uncountable weekends here as a kid with my family. The waterfalls are beautiful, and the trails are pretty manageable for anyone in a moderately decent aerobic state. There are showers and concessions in season, as well as interpretive programs. Like most state parks, the campsites are close together, and offer little privacy. But maybe that's part of the charm. Final note: My grandpa was in the CCC, and helped build this park.
Great park with the tallest waterfall in WI. It's sad to see the Wisconsin government not taking care of its parks. The contrast between MN state parks and WI state parks is clearly visible here.
Beautiful place, great for family visits.
Beautiful park. Will definitely visit again.
Not all the trails are fully accessible.
So freaking cool! Love the waterfalls and the rocks near the small falls were full of geodes!!
Really beautiful state park. Full of alot of waterfalls. East to walk around.
Amazing waterfalls! Enjoyable, moderately challenging hike from Big Manitou Falls, to Little Manitou Falls, however both waterfalls may be accessed by vehicle with little to no walking, which is very convenient! Absolutely a must see in Wisconsin! Bathrooms are also some of the cleanest I have encountered at a State Park, which is always a plus!
Beautiful day. Falls were awesome. Few trails closed.
Loved this campground! First time visiting and I will definitely be back. The restrooms were clean and spacious. The campsites were large enough to accommodate 2 large tents and my truck with plenty of room left over. The camp host was so helpful in reccomending local tourist locations. The waterfalls located just down the road were amazing and worth the trip.
Absolutely beautiful! Took a trip up here a while ago, and the park itself is amazing. The staff are really friendly, too, which makes it even better. The waterfalls here are some of the best ones in the state if you ask me.
This is a highly visited state park with a lot to offer. There are some gorgeous waterfalls to hike and see as well as camping Beach volleyball court swings and some other hiking in natural sites to see. The campground showers are very clean and nice. The campground itself is large with some electric sites and good access for large rigs. The roads are paved and level making them great for kids to bike around. The sites are large and private with good shade trees. Sadly the park experience some severe flooding earlier this year in many hiking trails around the lake as well as the beach itself are closed for repairs.
Stopped there for a rest while out on the motorcycles, great place with terrific views to stretch your legs.
Love going there! Beautiful views and walking trails.
How many of us drive by here and don't stop? Just do it! There's a lot to see, even if you can only make a stop for 10 mins... the falls are right by the road. Just do it!
Beautiful scenery, blacktop on trails is very uneven
It was an amazing park!! We never went there before in all the years we passed by and never stopped until today. Our kids and dog absolutely loved it as well as us.
Very friendly staff, convenient dump station
Great waterfalls but most of the trails were closed. They didn't seem to be in any hurry to fix things here.
We only stopped quickly, because we were on our way someplace else when I saw the sign and made a quick decision to detour. We didn't do huge hikes, but made our way to the fall, and it was amazing. Utterly breathtaking!
Liked the dog friendly hikes to falls. Beautiful.
Little Manitou Falls are beautiful. Big Manitou is nice but rather simple. We hiked down a long path only to get to the bottom to find a bunch of rocks. Disappointing and the hike up was not fun. Park is very spread out. My least favorite State Park to date.
Nice size campsites nice facilities . beach was closed due to E. Coli I break out
This is the best park I know of in Wisconsin. It's a bit up north, but worth the drive. I believe the big falls are over 160ft. The tallest waterfall in Wisconsin. Also it's a state park, so there is a fee to enter .
I had my family reunion here, and it was very enjoyable! I went on a hike to go see the falls with my partner and with my cousin. It was very pretty for sure! They had a beach as well closer to the parking lot that looked very nice as well.
Beautiful state park home of Wisconsin's tallest water fall
Great Waterfalls. Helpful staff.
Very nice clean park for camping. Nice little spaces for camping. Most are pull in spots. Surrounded by trees.
Lovely park, with wonderful scenery.
Beautiful hiking and waterfalls
Winter fest was great! Chilli, sledding, s'mores, and a night hike!
Easy hike to see Wisconsin's tallest waterfall.
Great park with a sandy beach on a small lake, volleyball nets, a campground, and a wonderful stone hall built by the CCC 80 years ago. There are grills, picnic tables, open grass, trails for hiking. This is a great place to spend a day with the family.
Beautiful scenery, gorgeous waterfalls and lots of walking trails. The camping area is not very wooded but still very nice.
Stop here everytime we go through, but had the experience of stopping last year after they had about 7 inches of rain in 3 days... incredible!
Beautiful area and friendly park staff
Great wooded sites- just what we were looking for. Nice clean restrooms. Beautiful walk to the falls. Great stay! We will be back.
Great park
Absolutely beautiful
It's been 9 years since I was here last and it was great to share this beautiful place with my new husband and stepson.
OTHER THAN THE SPEED BUMPS IT WAS AWESOME
We love camping and walking to the falls. We used the beach this summer it was great. Close to duluth to go spend the day in town to watch the ships. Great flush toilets and showers. We try to go every summer
I enjoyed the day trips and how close to Superior it is. Right now there is a lot of construction due to flooding from last year. Getting to some parts of the photo opportunity is not what I would consider handicap accessible. But if you can move about, so worth it. Also wish there wasn't orange construction fence everywhere, sorta ruins the picture, but it is probably just temporary.
Great campground, adequate showers, awesome falls
Great camping. Love little manitou more than big
I love this campground/park. This is year two for me at this state park and it has been just wonderful both years. The awesome people who run the campground have been amazingly helpful and have been very accommodating every time I've gone. This park is beautiful and and they allow dogs which we love cause I personally don't like to vacation without my girls by my side. Even if you have explored thier trails there are all kinds of other places nearby to check out!
Very beautiful waterfalls
